What happened after the happily ever after? You all know the story of your favorite fairytale, but did you ever wonder what happened after the fairytale ending? Well we know. Not all afters end up happily, sometimes the real adventure starts much later...
KING OF DEVOTIONThe princess of Floris is engaged to marry a rich and handsome duke. It’s a fairy tale romance, one I’m destined to watch from afar. After all, I’m the palace’s head gardener, and gardeners don’t marry princesses. Lilian has been everything to me since the minute she was born. Now, with her wedding weeks away, she has a future, a fiancé, and a kingdom, and I can’t get in the way. My mentor has always said that work is the best cure for an aching heart, and I have plenty to do. As head gardener, it’s up to me to ensure that Floris retains its reputation as the home of the most magical flowers in the world. But flowers have begun to die on the palace grounds, taking with them my last hopes of a happily ever after. My name is Deon, son of Rapunzel and here is my story.
HEIR OF THORNS
Each day, I wake up to a world uglier than the one before. The disease killing my kingdom’s gardens has escaped the palace grounds, transforming our once-beautiful landscape of color into a devastating scene of gray death. The king and queen who should be leading us through the crisis have all but disappeared, and Lilian’s fiancé, the not-so-charming duke of Thornton, has stepped up to control not just the kingdom but his future bride, too. The fate of the kingdom trembles on a precipice, and I’m left to do everything in my power to stop the blight and shield Lilian from the worst of her betrothed’s jealous demands. And as the Spring Flower Festival approaches and all eyes turn our way, I have to step up and show the rest of the world that Floris won’t go down without a fight.
THRONE OF ENCHANTMENT
The Spring Flower Festival is almost here, and it’s taken everything I’ve got to make sure my kingdom proves its worth in spite of the blight ravaging our kingdom. But the disease spreading across our land may be caused by something deeper and more sinister than I’d ever imagined. Things are no brighter at the palace. Queen Rapunzel remains hidden in the castle while the kingdom falls to pieces all around us. And the jealous duke of Thornton seems prepared to do anything in his power to keep me away from Princess Lilian. The only thing left to do is to triumph at the Festival and show everyone in Floris what I’m made of — but in a kingdom ravaged by disease and controlled by a duke who won’t let anything stand between him and the crown, even that may be beyond my powers.
GOD OF LOYALTY
Princess Lilian’s wedding is mere days away, and I’m dreading the moment she says “I do” to the duke of Thornton. Once she becomes his wife, I’ll be thrown out of the palace grounds and lose any hope I might have had of making her mine. With my once-majestic gardens a wasteland and my beloved queen stricken with a mysterious illness, my ties to the palace are slipping away one by one. But with the help of my mentor and Lilian herself, I just might have what it takes to grow something new in Floris.Following famous fairytale characters, eighteen years after their happily ever after, the Kingdom of Fairytales offers an edge of the seat thrill ride in an all new and sensational way to read.Lighting-fast reads you won’t be able to put down
Born in Leeds, I lived a very normal life until I got bored one day and decided to travel the world. Since then I've worked on a Banana Plantation, cleaned ACDC's dressing room and been a professional clown. I climbed to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and the top of Kilimanjaro. Nowadays you'll find me being a climbing frame for my two young children, working in a school, and renovating my home. Did I also mention I wrote some books? I hope you enjoy them! I was curious about which curse would be reverting in this Rapunzel retelling. The traditional story began in a witch's amazing forbidden garden with a craving for rampion. This story too, starts in a magical garden, with a forbidden longing. I liked how the garden theme was carried though with the character's names. The tension and intrigue is building up already. The stakes are high - a blight affecting the kingdom's food source.
Lots of adventure, a little bit of danger, and just a touch of romance. Deon and Lillian are just so sweet together and the chemistry between them is palpable! There are quite a few glimpses of characters from other lands, some you might recognize from previous books and some that are yet to be introduced. As with any other multi-author shared universe, each author adds their own unique perspective and it is interesting to see some familiar lands though new eyes.
This book is really hard to review without giving spoilers! Although not everything was resolved, it was a very satisfying ending. A bit of humor, a lot of romance, and some wonderful family moments. As the group of golden eyed adoptees grows, their ideas about what might be going on are expanding as well. More hints of the overarching plot drawing them together come out in this book.
