A visit to the urologist has never been more hilarious - or revealing - than in Men’s Health, a new comedy written by Daniel Goldfarb and directed by Scott Ellis. Adam (Tony winner Santino Fontana) is a TV writer in search of a diagnosis for a very personal problem. He ends up half naked and fully freaked out in the exam room of Dr. Szabo (Tony and Emmy winner Tony Shalhoub), a physician with a unique bedside manner offering some truly unorthodox treatment options. After several months of appointments, both patient and doctor begin to open up, sharing some of the most private parts of their lives. But when Adam decides to write about their relationship, Dr. Szabo discovers how frightening and freeing it feels to be truly exposed.

I forgot how much I love Santino (from Crazy Ex- Girlfriend, Frozen, etc), but he should do more audio books! And of course Tony Shaloub is a joy, playing a character very similar to his character on Marvelous Miss Maisel. A man goes to a urologist (?) and the book is 90% their visits/appointments. I have mixed feelings on the title because of the magazine confusion.
Tony Shalhoub and Santino Fontana as narrators to characters discussing penis issues, erections, and orgasms is probably the weirdest thing I’ve read. That being said, I do like the focus on men’s health and not having shame about it, including talking about issues with their friends and spouses. Women have gynecological visits from a young age, plus the monthly period, so that shame is almost beaten out of us without our choice. Opening the door to acknowledge men need that same communication is important.
My Audible review: This was a fun listen. The storytelling was excellent and the voice acting, particularly Tony Shalhoub, was a lot of fun. There are some uncomfortable scenarios and subjects covered, but the light-hearted comedy helped keep things from feeling down.
I'll rate this one, "A nutty comedy about medical issues with male reproductive parts."
This is an audio presentation about a man's penis. It is humorous in a crass way. Mildly pornographic in other ways. Lots of sexual innuendo. It got old real quick. I had to stop listening. After a while I no longer cared how it all ended.
Adam is a moderately successful TV writer who spends a year seeing Dr. Szabo, the sexual urologist treating him for, basically, his bent penis. We listen in on his appointments, which are alternately hilarious and alarming, often poignant, and definitely R-rated with an occasional NC-17 moment. If you're going to listen to this on your lunch hour at work, you are going to want to use earbuds unless you don't mind getting a lot of side eye.
This is more like a radio play than an audiobook, with a narrator and several actors performing the character roles. I liked this a lot and would give it five stars but for a long and overly sentimental closing speech by Adam, which felt awkward and unnecessary.
This was the funniest title I have ever listened to. I hope there is a follow up. Both Fontana and Shalhoub are engaging and likeable. So many great moments, beautifully handled. So good I have to listen to this again. It wasn't long enough and we need more! I so needed a good laugh right now.
Very intriguing... wonder if the television show came to fruition? What a strange way to find out about yourself. But sometimes it takes someone so far removed to show you a glimpse of who you are.
Funny short piece. I actually like those doctor moments, when you can talk openly and factually about things that you can't with anyone else, albeit it's sometimes funny to try...
I came for Santino Fontana but was honestly blown away by Tony Shalhoub's hilarious commentary. My biggest thing with this is the ending which could've been cut at couple of mins before.
