Funding for sports or funding for the arts? There's not enough money for both, and a ruthless battle is raging among the seven members of the Carlton school board. Sylvia Greene, the board's unbalanced president, is even threatening to expose the members' most private secrets if they don't vote her way.
But a sudden dose of poison takes care of Sylvia . . . permanently. The bad news is that Molly Master's dad, the board member who was Sylvia's first blackmail target, is now the prime suspect for her murder. Shocked and furious, Molly hits the warpath, determined to find the real killer. A deadly field trip tells her almost all she needs to know--except her own perilous fate. . . .
Though it kept my interest and the main character is funny and likeable, there are too many errors in how school boards must follow rules. Not very realistic in that respect, but cozy mysteries are not realistic in that one person is involved in so many murders!
The Carlton, New York, School Board is facing a budget crunch. Either the arts program or sports will have to be eliminated, and Molly Masters’ father is one of the board members who will cast a deciding vote. Sylvia Greene, an unpopular board member, has hinted that she has incriminating information about one of the board members that she will reveal if the vote doesn’t go her way. When Ms. Greene is poisoned at a meeting, Molly’s father is the prime suspect, and Molly must work to prove his innocence.
