Roman A few days ago, social services gifted me a daughter. Six-year-old Ivy has my eyes, is cute as a button, and couldn't have landed in less capable hands than mine.
I have zero parenting skills, my bedside manner is non-existent, and my job doesn't take kindly to Bring Your Daughter to Work Day. All in all, I'm heading straight for a Worst Father of the Decade award.
Lucky for me, I manage to find a babysitter in a town renowned for their scarcity.
There's just a slight problem. I'm supposed to be evicting Quinn Foster, not paying her to look after my daughter.
Then there's the fact that Quinn is my ex-girlfriend. Our relationship was on fire back in college, before it promptly burned out.
But Quinn is doing such an excellent job of looking after my daughter, that I force myself to forget our past and focus on the present.
So why can't I stop dreaming about the future...one that includes my adorable daughter and my high school sweetheart?
The Babysitter Blunder is a spicy standalone second-chance romantic comedy set in the charming vacation town of Hibiscus Bay.
4 Star review of The Babysitter Blunder (Hibiscus #2) by Lolita Thorne Lolita Thorne is a new author to me and I found this to be enjoyable read. I love single parent stories and Roman and Quinn’s story was easy to read; add in Roman’s 6 year old daughter Ivy and I was drawn in the story that Ms.Thorne wove. Roman is struggling and is desperate to find someone that can look after Ivy. Unfortunately for him, the only person he can find to look after Ivy is his ex high school girlfriend Quinn. Roman still harbors resentment for the way Quinn left him and town years before. The story was fast paced and yet frustrating at times; I wanted to smack both Roman and Quinn across the back of their heads and tell them to wake up to themselves. They both needed to act like the adults that they are and not like teenage kids with issues. I loved little Ivy, she is wise beyond her years and I really felt for her. There were times that I laughed out loud and times when I wanted to yell. The situations that Roman and Quinn both found themselves in were realistic and ones I could relate to.
I fell somewhere between loving this and wanting more. Why did Roman and Quinn break up as teens? Roman is hopeless as a father. And he isn't really trying. He muddles along until Quinn comes along and saves the day. It felt kind of stereotyped. Bumbling dad meets capable woman who shows him how to be a parent. There are a lot of actions that don't sit right with me. Romans use of the word 'forced' when they were getting sexy. The lack of clear consent and safe sex. And Roman's brother is grossly misogynistic.
Quinn seems to be perfect. She can cook, including French bread at home. She knows lots about kids, easy for Ivy to talk to, funny etc, etc.
Both she and Roman are terrible communicators. They jump to conclusions and react before having all the information.
Their relationship both works and feels jagged, like their emotional pieces don't fit as well as their physical. I like Roman facing his fears and the tidy bow that ties everything together, but I wanted more. More conflict (but not the small misunderstanding, a conversation could clear this up conflict). More emotional connection between Roman and his daughter. Just, more.

ARC recieved from the BookSirens for an honest review.
Roman has just been handed over his 6 year old daughter which he pretty much forgot about after Ivy's mother's death. He knows nothing about parenting and has been doing everything wrong. He needs help. The only one who can help him is Quinn. Quinn has hit her own rock bottom just that she still doesn't know the severity of it. Roman bumps into her while on his rounds to attach eviction notices, however ends up asking Quinn to babysit his daughter. There was a conflict of interest there. A larger conflict was that Quinn and Roman dated in High School 15 years back when Quinn up and about left town. Roman still has feelings for her, but he has to think about his daughter. Even though he doesn't want her, he understands that he can't just abandon her like that. Roman also cannot keep himself out of Quinn's eviction situation. I read this book in one sitting and that is saying something. It was a fast paced read and really good to pick up if you're in a reading slump. Roman's struggles were so realistic and his narrative was so raw; how he felt during his marriage and then towards Quinn. Even the times when he didn't get to hold Ivy as a baby. Ivy was such a sweet kid. Mature for her age, which is described how her personality was shaped and she stole my heart. Quinn was a character with so many layers that I wish this was a longer book and Quinn was explored more. I would have loved to read how she gained experience to be patient with kids, I mean a children's party gig needs a lot of patience, her past relationships and also her family. I feel Roman didn't get closure as to why Quinn left during High School. I enjoyed this book and I always like legal representation of this sort.
Quinn is stuck in a rut struggling to find her feet, she entertains at children’s birthdays, but can’t afford her rent. So, when a blast from her past literally shows up on her doorstep needing help, she sees it as an opportunity to help but maybe gain some extra money to stay afloat. Roman is shocked when he sees his high school sweetheart for the first time in years and here he is struggling to be a father to a daughter he never got the chance to know. Quinn gives Roman a lot of sass at first because she doesn’t understand his situation and how he could be this terrible of a parent because it is so unlike the guy she knew and loved once. Roman was utterly clueless when it came to his kid, but when we read about his ex wife I was thinking she had some issues of her own that led to things being the way they are. Roman wanted to be a good dad but his past never allowed him to be that so he let it go which is unbelievable seeing he is a lawyer and could have fought for his daughter. The banter back and forth between Roman and Quinn was funny and things progressed for them fast. Quinn was amazing with Roman’s daughter but when it came to her own life and decisions, she was immature, but so was Roman when it came to communication. Things that could have easily been handled like adults if they just talked it through it would have solved most if not all their issues, especially with a child involved they should have stopped and thought things through so she didn't hurt too. Overall this was a fun read that did have me laughing at times, shaking my head at others, and ultimately Ivy stole the show.
When Roman ends up taking care of his daughter Ivy after the death of her mother, he is lost and completely out of his depth. He hasn't been much involved in her life until this point in time. Roman has been growing his legal business in Hibiscus Bay so being thrown into parenting has thrown him into a spin. Taking your child to work day can work, right?
Quinn is down on her luck. Job opportunities are few and far between in Hibiscus Bay and she is behind on her rent. Her landlord is about to have her evicted by Roman when he knocks on her door. Roman and Quinn were high school sweethearts so he can't follow through and sees an opportunity to solve his childcare problem. Welcome Ivy's nanny!
It was hard to empathise with Roman knowing that he knew he had a child but didn't make much of an effort to be in her life. But knowing that her mother played a role in this softens him down. I'm sure many parents can empathise with him trying to find his feet - children don't come with instruction books so how do you know what to do. He is clueless in all things parenting so thank goodness for Quinn. Quinn hasn't got her life together but she understands parenting and what Ivy needs. It was a delight to see Ivy blossom under Quinn's guidance and to see Roman settle in his role as dad and become more confident.
Whilst this was mainly light-hearted and fun, my heart did break for Ivy on so many levels. The three together made this story come to life and drew me into their story, with their ups and downs.
4.5 Stars for The Babysitter Blunder (Hibiscus Bay #2) This is the first book I have read by this author but it certainly won’t be the last because I loved every about my visit to Hibiscus Bay and I will certainly be checking out book one as soon as time permits. There’s something about a single dad and Roman is a man I fell hard and fast for, trying to come to terms with finding out he has a 6 year daughter and trying to do what’s right for her all make this man very special and once you add in the adorable Quinn who happens to be his ex girlfriend from high school things really get interesting. Roman needs help and he needs it fast and it seems Quinn is the only available babysitter/nanny in Hibiscus Bay, he knows their history may cause problems but his daughter Ivy needs to come first. Quinn may have walked away from Roman all those years ago but that doesn’t mean she won’t help him out after all Ivy is adorable, plus the thought of eviction for unpaid rent means she will take any job to get herself back on track. What follows is a lot of pushing and pulling as this couple get to know each other all over again but what will happen when Quinn realises Roman has been keeping secrets. This book has it all, it’s funny, it’s frustrating, its captivating, it’s steamy and it’s a very entertaining read. The characters are easy to like but it’s Ivy who really stole a piece of my heart with some classic one liners only a child delivers well. Looking forward to meeting more residents from Hibiscus Bay.
Honestly this book frustrated me to no end even though I was expecting it to a mediocre romance!
First of all, no lawyer goes to every person's door to serve an eviction notice. You can just mail those! The main conflict would have never happened if he just knew how to do his job! He is a bad lawyer and honestly idk how he has clients!
Then, my problem lies with how there is no proper conflict or character arc! The girl goes from having trust issue to jumping on his bones, without a second thought, then having trust issues again. Their feelings are generated very conveniently according to what the next misunderstanding is supposed to be. It's not just the girl, the guy goes from calling her woman of his dreams to calling her a gold digger to proposing her for marriage! I can't deal with this smh.
There is also the supposed issue of the antagonist, who is the landlord who evicted her bc she didn't pay the rent for last 3 months, and he is in his right to do so. The conflict was the 'asshole' sued her even tho the property damage claim was false, the fact that she didn't pay her rent after she started earning doesn't change. How am I supposed to root for someone who doesn't have basic decency!?
Ah, I am so frustrated, Bella, the best friend of the mc and Ivy deserved better but they kept getting shit of by these two very toxic individuals.
I had read this book bc I thought that it would scratch the itch that I have for single parent romance but I guess it's time to move on the next trashy single parent romance book and hope for the best!

I love Ivy!!! Scaredy-Pants learned what fear was! This is about Quinn, Roman, and his daughter Ivy. This story starts off kind of crazy – Quinn is late on her rent and has this gig coming up at a kid’s party, but it won’t be enough to pay off what she owes. She hasn’t received the eviction notice so that is a plus, but what she does get right when she is heading out is a call to ask her if she would babysit for someone who urgently needs to work. Turns out Roman not only needed to get to work but also post the eviction notice to her front door, which he intended on doing until she opened her to leave.
Quinn and Roman have a past, they were both high school sweethearts, but then Quinn’s mother moved her away and left her broken-hearted. These two are hilarious, but you must love Quinn, she does things her way or no way until it is time to change it up a bit. Ivy is a sweet girl who lost her mother and didn’t realize she had a father and was just dumped on him. Roman was once married to Ivy’s mother but things didn’t work out and he wasn’t allowed to see his daughter, so he has a lot of making up to do but doesn’t know where to start and is actually thinking of calling social services on himself. I hope the next story is about Bella as I think she deserves the ever-lasting love but also because she and Quinn are best friends.

Quinn is struggling to pay her rent and has taken on a job entertaining at children's birthday parties to make ends meet. As she is leaving, her high school boyfriend Roman shows up with his daughter Ivy in tow, in desperate need of a babysitter. What Quinn doesn't know is that Roman is also there to evict her, which he decides on the spur of the moment not to do. He hires her as Ivy's nanny, as he became a parent unexpectedly when his ex-wife passed away.
Quinn is definitely a rockstar at parenting, and seems to know just what Ivy needs before Roman does. They fight their attraction at first, but once they give in, sparks fly. Roman, who is a lawyer, then decides to fight Quinn's landlord who has decided to sue her for damages and rent. He is determined to keep Quinn in his and Ivy's lives, which backfires spectacularly.
At first, I didn't like Roman very much, and it seemed like his solution was to throw money at problems, but his redemption arc won me over. Quinn is genuine and I really liked her. I'm glad there was an explanation of Ivy's childhood prior to Roman, because her behavior was a little more childish at times. My oldest son is Ivy's age, and she definitely acted a little more like my youngest son. Overall, it was a fun read while I was traveling, and I'll probably pick up the next book in the series when I'm looking for a romcom.

What a joyful read it was! This book is the perfect package for a fun filled, steamy Romcom with adorable, beautiful characters and great setting to top it off!
Quinn is running petty jobs as a babysitter but she's stern on standing on her own feet, even though her landlord is ready to evict her any moment and she hasn't paid her rent for months now.
Roman, the handsome single dad property lawyer has a problem. He has a 13 year old adorable Ivy and no time to give her. He needs a babysitter and he needs it Now.
So when he meet his childhood sweetheart and his first love Quinn, on his way to evict her, it feels like fate has bought them together again. And this time, Roman would do absolutely anything to make her stay.
Oh my heart! This book was so cute and so steamy and yet very believable. It was so easy to fall in love with Quinn, Roman and the adorable Ivy and I loved the supporting characters too.
And OMG the steamy scenes! Dear lord, I'd had so much wine that night and was smiling ear to ear, completely enjoying it. My dear readers, there's sex alright but what Lolita Thorne gives you will make you orgasm so bad that you'll crave for more and she'll keep giving it to you until the very last chapter. YESS that damn last chapter. Oh wow.
Right, enough swooning today but seriously pick this up and you will forget the world around you for a few hours.
Roman received a big surprise when Social Services dropped the 6- year-old daughter he never knew into his life without warning. He has to scramble to find a nanny for Ivy while still trying to perform his job. As he is serving eviction notices, he finds an old college sweetheart, Quinn, who is behind on her rent and will shortly be homeless. So he offers her the job of nanny for his daughter, Ivy. Roman still has feelings for Quinn. Will they use this second chance to start up their relationship? Does Quinn feel the desire to start again too?
The story continues with their relationship in this new situation. Quinn seems capable as a nanny, but the arguments she gets into with Roman seem pretty juvenile in how she chooses to handle them. It was difficult to form an attachment to Quinn and somewhat to clueless Roman as well. I’m not sure what they saw in each other with Roman being a lawyer and Quinn with this nanny job as the only thing that saved her from homelessness. Even as high school sweethearts, she dumped him without an explanation, so burning love resurging doesn’t seem likely either. Parts of the story were funny. Other parts not so much. I had much higher hopes for this romcom.
Quinn is broke and lives in a dump. Roman is a lawyer who works for her scummy landlord and comes to evict her. Who would guess they were high school sweethearts, and he just took custody of a daughter he doesn't know after her mother dies? Well, here we are, and it makes a lovely story of how they get over their problems and finally get together.
I liked the story and the concept, but a few things seemed unrealistic. First, what lawyer goes around serving eviction notices? Who lives without any semblance of a real job? A professional unicorn is not a job. Quinn is excellent at childcare and makes a great nanny. More about Ivy's recovery might have been a good addition. More about Roman's anxiety attacks and occasional dorkiness might have been good too.
There is one fabulous sex scene, and then nothing more, which seems a waste of the chemistry between these two. They never really talk about what happened in high school, which would have made a delightful and sexy scene and led to more good sex. The book is a bit short--more sex could have filled it out!

This is at the top of my list for second chance romances!! It’s a second chance, single dad needs a nanny, steamy romance with a little drama. The characters are awesome. Lolita does a terrific job developing them and their story!
Roman and Quinn were high school sweethearts until she moved away unexpectedly. Now years later they meet again when he’s at her doorstep about to hand her an eviction notice. Instead of doing that, he enlists her to help him with his daughter. His ex wife passed away and the daughter he never knew is now his to take care of. Roman is totally unprepared to be a dad and his attempts are both hilarious and heartbreaking. Luckily Quinn is amazing with kids and agrees to be his nanny.
The time spent together rekindles their old feelings and lead to some sweet and steamy moments for this wonderful couple. But secrets are never good to keep and even the best of intentions will bite you in the butt. What will happen when Quinn discovers the secrets that Roman keeps? What will Roman do when he’s faced with losing the love of his life for a second time? Read their story today! It’s so beautiful, with the most adorable little girl, and the best ending!!

The first part of the story was funny, so funny, and sweet and sexy. I could not stop laughing. such a fun story. I thought Quinn really was a sweetheart with a true unicorn spirit inside her and a mean streak like Tinkerbell. Roman displayed a bit of a neurotic and high-strung type-A personality. So, of course, they fit perfectly as if they were made for each other.
Then the author decided that she needed more angst and gave the woman-child-unicorn-fairy person the wisdom of a tantrum-prone toddler.
For a fairy/unicorn spirit, Quinn was super judgmental. Looks like she had a few bad experiences with guys and that made her constantly come to the wrong conclusions about Roman's intentions. I thought it was dichotomous to have her be as level-headed as Mary Poppins when it came to dealing with Roman's daughter, Ivy, and then turn around and behave like a tantrum-prone toddler when dealing with the man she is supposedly in love with.
I'm keeping a star because I did not like Quinn's weird irrational dichotomy.

The Babysitter Blunder is the second book in this series. Not having read the first I didn't feel like I was missing any vital information, each book does well as a stand alone. The characters are well rounded and readers can easily picture them. There's one side character I really hope gets her own book in this series as she deserves happiness too.
I enjoyed the premise of this story, I especially loved the second chance aspect. The characters play well of one another and Ivy gets her time to also shine. I didn't feel like she was just thrown-in, the story was as much about Ivy as it was about Roman and Quinn. The only part I didn't like was the way Roman was initially portrayed. There's a line between being an unprepared parent and generally not giving a f*, Roman started out in the second side of that. He grew on me as his character developed. Both Roman and Quinn needed to grow-up and grow into responsible individuals. Quinn really needed to get her life together and shines when she has to.

My first read of the author and I have mixed feelings about this...
Roman turned into a dad after his 6 years old daughter, Ivy, was given to him. Not knowing and raising her for 6 years, he didn't know what to do. This was acceptable, but there were so many of his actions that somehow showed his immaturity? He couldn't be gentle with her, so cold and callous. He also couldn't show some love even after so long not knowing his own daughter. Enter Quinn. She was Roman's high school sweetheart. She moved back to Hibiscus Bay but having a hard time finding a job and paying her rent. One accidentally meeting later, Quinn became Ivy's nanny. I love her in the beginning, her positive outlook on life and her persistence in becoming independent are endearing. However, I kind of annoyed by her near the end of the story. She somehow became selfish and quick to judge.
All of this aside, I enjoy how Roman and Quinn got their second chance and finally found their happiness.
This book started out a bit slow for me. I was thoroughly confused about a lot of things and there didn't seem to be any explanation of them within the first good chunk of the book. It was to the point where I almost put it down and didn't want to continue it. I had more questions than there were answers and I'm the type of person who wants everything laid out at the beginning. Who the characters are, how they fit together, and how they got into their current situations. The whole situation with Roman and Ivy was never explained. Sure, things were inferred but if you weren't paying attention, you may have thought he was just a guy who didn't want to take care of his own kid. That was the big question mark for me. But I kept reading anyway and found myself liking the book once everything was straightened out in my mind. I didn't love it, but I did really like it. I'm glad I continued reading it. Many of the characters grew on me and as the story progressed, things seemed to become clearer.

This is the story of Roman and Quinn set in the picturesque town of Hibiscus Bay. Roman and Quinn dated in high school, but when she left Hibiscus Bay, that was the end of their relationship. Roman got married and had a child, whose mother did not want Roman involved in the child's upbringing. The mother passes away when Ivy, the daughter is 6 and she goes to live with Roman. Roman is now a lawyer who needs to serve Quinn with an eviction notice but Roman also needs a babysitter / nanny to take care of Ivy when he is in work. The three get very close, and start to act like a family unit. Quinn becomes very protective of Ivy, much to Roman's happiness. But when Roman's brother Ben accidentally finds out that Quinn had been evicted, and sued for lack or rent, Roman saves the day with her landlord (who also happens to be his boss). The couple need to find their way back to one another for a happy ending for them and Ivy.
Roman is a man who ends up being a single father, and he's horrible at it for a cool minute to be honest. I could handle it if he was only challenged trying to get the hang of it, but I didn't like how he treated his tiny human a lot of the time. He needs childcare, and he runs into his high school sweetheart, Quinn, who he's supposed to be evicting out of her place, but instead he hires her as his babysitter. I mean, he didn't know who she was anymore so that was a bit dicey for me as I was a single parent who was very paranoid I suppose. She was great at first, but she did some things later on in the story that I didn't care for either, & I do wish both of them put this tiny human first at all times. Oh, and then there's the whole being challenged at using their words like adults when things went south between them. I will say this, Roman finally developed into a better man which is why I gave half a star back because I can get behind someone who learns to do better. Anyway, this is all only my opinion so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you decide for yourselves!
Quinn decided that she wanted to be a unicorn every day. Much better than waiting tables and taking orders from rude people. Besides, she got fired after dumping tomato soup over a jerk's head. She's heading out the door for a kid's party to do face paintings when she looks up to see the most gorgeous man ever.
Roman is lugging the seven-year-old daughter he didn't realize he had until a few days ago. Well, that he forgot he had until social services contacted him. Now he was dragging her around town with him delivering eviction notes. He needed a babysitter desperately.
I loved this book. I love all the characters. Quinn's sense of humor and determination to help Ivy. Roman can't get anything right no matter how hard he tries. The storyline kept me hooked from page one. It was nice seeing Belle and Cade again.
I highly recommend this book! Just like the Billionaire Blooper it kept me laughing and I read it straight through. Another great read by Lolita Thorne!
While the premise attracted me to this book, I don’t think this was for me.
I was ok with Quinn even though I thought she was immature and naïve. She seemed to genuinely care for Ivy until she didn’t. Roman was a difficult person to like. Granted he became a single dad overnight, but he seemed to be constantly shouting and ill-tempered with both Quinn and Ivy. While Ivy was impeding his work, I didn’t think he won the Father of the Year award when he dumped her with Quinn. Even though Roman and Quinn were a couple for one year in high school, that was many years ago. He really didn’t know anything about Quinn yet he was ok with leaving Ivy with her. There was also the inconsistencies such as when Quinn was at the birthday party, she told Master Thomas that the sparkle makeup was all gone. Yet later, Quinn is putting sparkle make up on Ivy. This was a DNF for me.
I received a free copy from Booksprout. This is my unbiased review.
This book had me because it's a romantic comedy and small town romance. It's also a single dad romance. My heart went out to little Ivy. She's gone through too much in her little life. Then Roman gets custody and he is clueless how to be a parent. That's why he better be thanking fate that brought Quinn back into his life. Quinn's life isn't going so well. All her hopes and dreams of coming back to Hibiscus Bay going up in smoke. My absolute favorite part of this book is watching little Ivy blossom into the happiness every kid should have. Some of my favorite scenes are with Ivy and Quinn. I was skeptical of Roman in the beginning. I wasn't too impressed by his first impressions, but like Quinn you have to dive a little deeper. Another part I liked about this book it's a second chance romance. Roman and Quinn were high school sweethearts and they are each other's one that got away. It made my heart happy to see them reconnecting. It's a good make you feel good story.
could not stop laughing or put this book down as Ms. Thorne has written another five star book for the “Hibiscus Bay” series. This is a complete standalone with no cross over characters from the previous book.
Written from Quinn and Roman’s point of views, there is lots of chemistry, angst, and romantic moments. Little Ivy is precious and steals just about every scene she is in. For a young girl, she has been thru the ringer and Quinn can’t help but love her even more as she finds out everything. Despite Quinn not being a parent, she has wonderful instincts and even helps Damon be a better dad.
The length Damon goes to get Quinn out of trouble shows his immense love for her especially since since he does it without telling her. Granted this could mean the end of them when she finds out, but he had the best of intentions.

Star Ratings - 1 (poor) - 5(READ THIS BOOK) Writing Quality: 4 stars Pace/Ease of Reading: 4 stars (I struggled with the start of the story connecting events and characters but maybe I was distracted) Characters: 4 stars (I felt there could have been more depth to the characters and definitely more tension between them) Enjoyability: 4 stars Uniqueness Factor: 4 stars Steam Level: 3 stars Recommended: yes
I enjoyed the story. I struggled to connect with the characters at the beginning. I enjoyed their characteristics but struggled to find the connection at first. Overall it was a complete and satisfying somewhat short read for me.
Our hero and heroine has a past but they both need help (in different ways) so they form a mutually beneficial arrangement. Until that doesn't work either.
This is book two of the series but it is written as a standalone. No prior reading is required.
This is a second chance romance that kind of shows that sometimes you should just move on. The story is fairly well written, but the characters are a piece of work. I had a hard time connecting to either character as they both suffer from a problem that really irks me: inability to communicate. Most of the trouble in this story revolves around that and I find it more annoying than entertaining. The daughter was, as one might expect, adorable and pretty much the saving grace of the story. After really enjoying the first book, I found this one to be a disappointment. I am hoping for better in the next book.

This is the 2nd book in this series and is Roman and Quinn’s story. When social services hand over cute 6-year-old Ivy to Roman he finds himself struggling as a single dad, and as he is a property lawyer, he takes her with him to work to hand out eviction notices. Opening one of the doors he finds himself face to face with his ex-girlfriend Quinn, and they were high school sweethearts until she up and left town without a word. Knowing he needs the help he convinces Quinn to become Ivy’s babysitter, and as she has hit rock bottom she jumps at the chance. This is a well written fast paced story which has engaging and realistic characters, and is filled with emotions, lack of communication, and is a sweet, humorous, steamy, and entertaining read. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
This was my first book by Lolita Thorne, but certainly won't be the last! Thank you to BookSirens for allowing me to read an ARC of this story.
It started off with one of the main characters, Quinn, dressing as a unicorn for a child's birthday party, and I knew I would be hooked! Quinn and Roman were together in the past and he comes back into her life in a very unexpected way. Nearly at the beginning, Roman discovers that he has a 6-year-old daughter, Ivy, so the story revolves primarily around those 3 characters. It was a fairly fast read, but very enjoyable - I particularly love when the chapters are relatively short, so I can sneak one in without worrying about having to find a good stopping point when life gets in the way. Looking forward to reading more about Hibiscus Bay!
The blurb really got me and I thought this would be a fun read. I like Quinn at first, especially how she is with Ivy. But then the way she treats her friend just sucks. I feel like she always thinks she’s right.
Roman's character is no less troubling. He doesn’t even try to be a father to his daughter. Like wth, he just depends on Quinn to do everything for his daughter. And he has a lot of cynicism too..like how could he talk to his daughter like that? I get that he’s not used to having kids, but there are limits. Anyway, he’s a difficult character to understand.
Their relationship is pretty much filled with communication problems. Then she went and invade his privacy. He went and accused her of leeching off of him when he’s the one that wanted her to be a full-time nanny. I guess that doesn’t include her to live-in or else his daughter would have left hungry. He definitely has a bad temper.
This is just no for me I guess. The first book was better than this.
