This is a fantastic update to the authors previous book, The Closer. The story continues following the group of four women as they continue to make their way through their lives and careers. What made their stories so unique to me was that they were very relatable. Their lives aren’t golden, instead their filled with every day problems. Ones that threaten to take them down hard. With issues like homophobia, racial issues and overall gender equality, it puts a spotlight on the very real and raw emotions that come with it. They struggle find a balance of love, life, and career.
I appreciate the dedication to telling the stories of these women. It came across as a very personal truth that resonated deeply. Beautifully written, well thought out and I truly enjoyed it!
I read this book and the previous one because it has successful people as the main characters, particularly women that is such a rarity. However, the characters and their stories are way too unrealistic. They face some extremely serious challenges, but those are resolved within minutes, almost as if the difficulties were merely small inconveniences.
Like her last book, the author doesn't delve into the depth of the emotions of the characters and I couldn't feel for them even though I badly wanted to.
I gave an extra star to Coop because he was the only flawed character, who seemed at least a little bit real.
