The hardest love brings the deadliest revenge 5 Stars
Captured is book two, and followed on straight after the cliff-hanger ending of Bounty. Luckily for everyone, this duet was released together, so I got into it straight away. It is imperative that you’ve read the start of this duet in Bounty first, otherwise you’ve missed the whole point of the plot, and haven’t developed the all-important invested relationship with our hitman team of Hades and his behind-the-scenes man, Argos.
I don’t want to belabour the plot because I don’t want to be giving away spoilers, but holy hell, everything about our heroes in this book was raw. Authors K.L. Humphreys and Ruby Wolff wrote the levels of stress, and the angry and hurt emotions that our guys felt in devastating honesty, and their feelings literally emanated off the book. Hades is devastated and there is nothing left for him but a white-hot anger and the deadliest revenge. He cut a swathe of violence and destruction through those sick and depraved elite who wielded power and money like utensils to do what they like to whoever they like, while Argos had his back in the data world.
This book was more difficult for me to read. Remember that this is a dark romantic-suspense, and the subject matter might be difficult for some readers. Read the warnings before diving in and take heed, because there’s no excuse to be bleating about the rawness and the level of violence in this book that packed one hell of a punch and left me reeling long after I finished. Check the listing on Goodreads. Hades is a hitman who takes out the trash, and the people he is dealing with are the absolute scourge of society, and while I don’t believe their violent crimes are over exaggerated, they most certainly are graphic and an endemic part of the story. Don’t expect a fairy tale romance, because this isn’t it.
Humphreys and Wolff hit the ground running with this second book, and didn’t drop the ball once. It's a worthy, albeit hard to read at times follow up to Bounty, and deserves every one of its 5 Stars 🖤
