"You're not mine to look at. or touch. And it's reminding me of that, too..."

❝How about a slow dance?❞
❝A slow dance,❞ she repeated, as if saying the words for the very first time. ❝I don’t know how.❞
❝Neither do I.❞ He leaned down and kissed her forehead. ❝We’ll just keep dancing until we get it right, I guess.❞
✖ Tucker was wayyyy to much like Andrew Prince from the Beach Kingdom series, in my honest opinion. ✖
this was his whole vibe -
❝I’m your full service man, Mary. I’ll drive you, protect you, serve your body. I’ll do it as long as I’m allowed and be thankful.❞
so if you're feeling this vibe then great, but if not you probably won't like Tucker.
✖ the insta-love was strong in this house. ✖
seriously Tucker was catching feels for Mary the literal second he laid eyes on her. and i know i know this is a fated mates story. but you know what? i don't care. i've read plenty of fated mates stories where the insta-love feels organic and earned. here? not so much.
the below conversation was had at TWO FREAKING PERCENT, like, really -
“Tucker, why do you call me kid?”
He started to chuckle, but cut himself off. Didn’t speak for several beats. “I call you kid to remind myself to stop noticing how pretty you are,” he said quietly. “That’s not for me to notice, Mary. You’re not mine to look at. Or touch. And it’s reminding me of that, too.”
✖ overall, i just. . . didn't care about what was going to happen. ✖
yeahhhh, soooo, the plot was just not interesting to me. also, TBH, everything that's probably gonna go down at the end could've been avoided if Mary wasn't being dumb. but mostly i just didn't care. and ultimately if i don't care why should i keep reading?
“I call you ‘kid’ to remind myself to stop noticing how pretty you are,” he said quietly. “That’s not for me to notice, Mary. You’re not mine to look at. Or touch. And it’s reminding me of that, too.”
“I’d fight the world if you asked me.”
“My blindness has been a curse my whole life. But you don’t make it feel like that. You fill my head with beauty. You make me feel like I’m already whole. Like I don’t need to change a single thing to be accepted or loved.”
“You don’t,” he said without hesitation.
“You are the first and the last. The only one I’ll ever want or need or lust for. You’re mine, Mary. Not matter what, you are mine.”
“I’m staying with you,” she whispered. “You’re keeping me and I’m keeping you.”
