This book hooked me from the first chapter, and didn't let go until I turned the last page. Kit escaped from the abuse of a forced marriage to Russian Organized Crime leader Vadim Valensky. At the same time, she found a way to help the Silver Valley PD take him down for his sex-and-drug trafficking crimes. In the two years since then, she divorced him, dealt with her PTSD, and took a job with SVPD and Trail Hikers using her language skills to continue the fight against ROC. Her latest assignment involves working with Trail Hikers agent Luther Darby to find two ROC members intent on resurrecting the local ROC then listen in on their plans.

As an FBI agent and then a Trail Hikers agent, Luther spent years going after ROC. After his last op, his determination became personal as well as professional. The last thing he wanted was to be paired with a civilian who wasn't even allowed to carry a weapon.

Luther and Kit got off to a rough start. Kit didn't appreciate Luther's lack of belief in her abilities, and Kit stirred up some unpleasant memories from Luther's past. Sparks of attraction added unexpected complications. Neither one is interested in a relationship. Kit felt zero interest in men after her time with Vadim, and she's not sure she can trust the feelings Luther causes. After the betrayal Luther experienced from the last woman he cared for, getting involved with another work-related woman is not an option. He's determined to stay unencumbered for as long as he works undercover.

I liked seeing the relationship between Luther and Kit develop. The more time they spend together, the closer they get, settling into a friendly partner role. The attraction between them continues to grow while each of them fights the yearning to get closer. An unexpected attack brings out Luther's protective instincts and Kit worries that she's put him in danger. When the operation ends, both must decide whether to take a risk. I wanted to shake Luther for walking away despite his feelings. I loved the ending as he realized the future he expected was no longer what he wanted. I loved his big moment and Kit's response.

The book had a double-barreled suspense story going on. The main one followed the story arc of the last several books, the partnership of the Trail Hikers and the SVPD as they worked to shut down the East Coast ROC. The remaining two leaders intend to reestablish the ROC's hold on the area, though each harbors plans of their own that are mutually exclusive. We get a look at the interactions between the two bad guys as each tries to get the upper hand. An unexpected twist ends up putting Kit in danger. I was on the edge of my seat as she took on the bad guys and won (with a bit of help).

The second story involved Kit's past coming back to haunt her. Her ex-husband's adult son wants her, not just for himself but also to use as a bribe to get back into the ROC. From her feelings of being watched to his attempted kidnapping of her in the woods, I couldn't wait to see how it turned out. I was glued to the pages as I saw Kit's struggle and her fear for Luther. I loved seeing Kit's response to the danger and Luther's confidence in her.

3 1/2 STARS!

Danger lurks around every corner! STALKED IN SILVER VALLEY by Geri Krotow is book nine in the Silver Valley P. D. series and brought a suspenseful story to life once again in Silver Valley. I typically love the stories in this series, but this one was harder to connect with than normal. It drug a bit and I didn't instantly feel drawn to their relationship. I enjoyed them, but somehow needed more to truly connect. I look forward to more to come in the series.

Kit Danilenko was rescued from the domestic abuse of a forced marriage to Russian gangster Vadim Valensky, a member of Russian Organized Crime in America. Kit was brave enough to find a way to help the Silver Valley Police Department take down Vadim Valensky who was sentenced to twenty-five years to life for his sex trafficking and drug trafficking crimes. She is now divorced and working with SVPD to solve criminal cases due to her languages abilities. Kit also works for Trail Hikers, a government shadow agency that assists law enforcement worldwide. She is now assigned to do communication surveillance with Trail Hikers agent Luther Darby to find and watch two ROC criminals returned to the area to breathe life back into East Coast ROC. This is just surveillance, not supposed to be very dangerous. But danger finds them.

Luther Darby has traveled the world going after the bad guys, first as a FBI agent and presently as a Trail Hikers agent. He very much wants to take down the East Coast ROC. It's personal as well as something that needs to be done for the good of all. Luther wasn't expecting to be attracted to the woman assigned to conduct communications surveillance with him. But he was. Luther doesn't need the distraction. But there's no fighting his attraction to Kit.

Stalked in Silver Valley by Geri Krotow is the ninth book in her Silver Valley P.D. series. I was hooked from the first chapter of this book. The characters come alive on the pages and the action is quite realistic. The danger jumped off the pages as I read along. This is a super series. I enjoy Ms. Krotow's writing style very much. I totally enjoyed this book!

I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

The ongoing problem of crime linked back to certain Russians is a focal point in the ninth book of the Silver Valley P.D. miniseries, and those fighting for the side of good are persistent about stopping their wrongdoings which have hurt lots of people in the area. As the main characters in the story try to work out a plan which will aid in keeping the goals of the criminals from being successful, the couple find themselves facing some personal challenges of their own. I thought Geri Krotow created suspenseful situations all throughout the book, and I never knew when a threat would crop up and then harm individuals whose fate was becoming important to me.

Because of her past, Kit Danilenko is able to assist the Silver Valley P.D. with current cases that are related to Russian organized crime in the area. A victim herself of this group, as she ended up wed to one of its members after being misled before arriving in America, she wants to do everything she can to bring down the activities of the ruthless individuals. When Kit begins working with Luther Darby, an agent who goes undercover for the covert Trail Hikers organization, both want the same outcome. But in order to make certain that the leaders of the group are apprehended, Kit and Luther will be working surveillance together, and the attraction they unexpectedly feel will just have to be put aside as their task is too important for any distractions.

As I came to know Kit and Luther, I discovered that they both had numerous hidden sides to their personalities. Though it took some time for all to be revealed, what was exposed along the way was often stirring and made me care for them while worrying over what events might alter their futures. Kit has definitely been through some very tough times, yet it has made her into a woman who is strong and tenacious. I really liked how she never wanted to give up once receiving an assignment. Luther is also someone who doggedly tries to complete a task, and his caring nature was evident time and again. There is a great balance of suspense and romance in STALKED IN SILVER VALLEY, as intriguing incidents keep happening while desire for another person adds to the anticipation of what will ultimately occur between two people.

At a young age Kit was forced into a marriage with a Russian gangster and managed to get out of that situation with him in jail and her left with PSTD. As she works though her issues she's working with undercover Luther to take down more of the Russian mobsters because her ex husband was only part of a bigger picture.

To be honest I had a hard time getting into this book. While I did like the characters I kinda felt a disconnect to Kit, not really sure why. I enjoyed thought seeing how everything turned out. I mean there was so much going on, the situation Kit used to be in was just one mobster and there was plenty of connection around and she was willing to help take down the whole organization. Little did she realize that there was someone after and I loved the suspense of that. Wondering when the person would strike how things would lead to that situation. It was just overall a good time reading this book.

Kit Danilenko managed to get out of an abusive forced marriage with a Russian gangster. After helping take down her husband and some of the other crime syndicate, she devoted her life to helping stop organized crime. Working as a translator while still working through her PSTD, she is paired with another agent on a covert mission, one which will prove to be explosive.

Geri Krotow’s Stalked in Silver Valley has more suspense than some of the other books in this line, but the book still seems to need further development. The characters are not well developed and the story line lacks believability. That being said, it’s a quick read if you need something to take your mind off other things.

Riveting, intriguing, suspenseful and uncertain love are some of the descriptors of another well-written book by Geri Krotow.
