what a great book! I love the stories set in Alaska this is my second book and it pulls you in from the beginning. I loved Oscar's mother, there is always a mother like that. she wants what's best for her child even if her way isn't always the right way. I love the names she gave the kittens, I have 3 cats, all rescues, and I love the names that mean something to the person. not just kitty or tabby. when you name your kittens: Cyndi, Pat, Joan, Sting, Billy & Boy George. Lol! 80s pop icons. I would gladly adopt Sting. 😉 As for the agent, Kelly, I wanted to slap her. wanting to change her into "Lolly Pop" another Katy Perry, um Katy Perry isn't country. I'm glad Lolly dumped her and stayed in Alaska because I would have smacked her if I could. What was funny was in the epilogue when Lolly was taking about the Sled Dog Rescue, it dawned on me that she, Oscar and the organization was in Melissa's other book ''Let There Be Love' yeah I know it took me long enough but they were mentioned in the 2nd chapter. blonde moment for me. well enough rambling for me, this is one of my first reviews but I just wanted to say it, if you want a good feel good funny read. read this book. take care and stay warm (it's negative weather here in Illinois) Melissa.
Somebody Like You (Cupid's Bow: The Third Generation Book 1) I am rapidly falling in love with Melissa Storm and her casts of everyday sweethearts. In Love's Prophet I walked in with a broken heart and exited feeling inspired and refreshed. Love's Promise has readers cheering for the outcasts and gives hope in times of hopelessness. Ms. Storm uses her writing to communicate to the heart and her versatility is abundantly clear in the characters she chooses to create. Somebody Like You delivers a smart diatribe of dialogue and that emotional connection that Ms. Storm's characters are known for, to create a tale that is to die for. Every story is a new beginning and beautiful present to the world of literature.
When I saw the cover of Let There Be Love, I fell in love with the beautiful husky. I bought the book, but hadn't read it yet. So when Melissa Storm offered me a copy of this book, to read before that, I did. Even though there is no husky on the cover, Timber plays an important role in the book. Lolly comes to take care of her aunt and to make a career in music. What she gets is a dog and a man, and love. Lovely, warm story from a summerly Alaska. I loved it! I received a copy and chose to review it.
I read this under its New title, Must Love Music, and I sincerely enjoyed it. It offers a nice romance without the typical boatload of angst. Once Oscar and Lolly get past the initial mistaken identities misunderstanding, it is obvious that they like each other, communicate well, and see the potential for something more than friendship. Their obstacle is a matter of right person, wrong time/place. It was a refreshing story with nice people, believable situations, and a satisfying ending. I voluntarily read a courtesy copy provided by the author and I offer my honest opinion in response.
This was a good short story. Lolly is in Alaska trying to get her music career started. While here she meets Oscar. Things are going well with them but then she is approached by an agent. She then is left having to decide if love or her career is more important.
Must Love Music is the first installment to the all-new series by Melissa Storm, The Alaska Sunrise Romances. It is, also, the first book I have read by this author and it definitely will not be the last. I loved Lolly and Oscar’s story. It is quite a quick read and I had no problem at all reading it in no time. I am giving it five plus stars. I look forward to the next book in the series. I received this book from the author, but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
Somebody like you. This book was a sweet romance story. I enjoyed the story. I didn't think I would like the book because I am not a dog lover, but I rather enjoyed this book. Oscar was an emotional male that knew love when he saw it. He just needed the time to convince Lolly that it was in Alaska not Nashville. Oscar did have a little help from his friend Timber the sled dog. Lolly realized where she needed to be and where her heart lies besides in music. Good read! *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else’s. ***
Must Love Music by Melissa Storm takes readers to Anchorage, Alaska. Oscar Rockwell, a veterinarian, has been set up on another blind date by his mother. Kelly Rockwell, Oscar’s mother, is determined to find the right woman for her son. Oscar is tired of waiting for his very late date when in walks the most beautiful woman looking for Kelley. The pair start chatting, and she even sings him a song. Then walks in his blind date with a bad attitude. Lolly Winston has moved to Anchorage to care for her great aunt while she is laid up from hip surgery and to meet with Kelley Lux, an agent who currently in the area. Lolly has dreamed of making it big in Nashville and this is her one shot. After the misunderstanding, Lolly rushes out of the tavern before Oscar can get her name. Oscar is out walking Timber, a husky living at his clinic, when he encounters Lolly. Oscar convinces Lolly to have lunch with him and then Oscar attends Lolly’s first gig. Kelley Lux believes Lolly has great potential and is willing to sign her on the spot. Lolly needs to choose between love and fame? Or is there a way for Lolly to have both?
Must Love Music is a charming story. It is the first book in The Alaska Sunrise Romances. Melissa Storm has a conversational writing style that draws the reader right in. The book has a nice steady pace. I quickly devoured this engaging romance. Oscar has a pregnant cat that he wants his mother to watch, but she will only do it if he agrees to another blind date. Kelly Rockwell wants Oscar to find his soul mate much to his chagrin. Lolly enters the tavern looking for Kelley and Oscar believes she means his mother, Kelly. It is a cute meet. The two are instantly taken with each other and have a good time. But Lolly is not looking for love. This is her one shot at being famous. We see Lolly struggle with the choice she needs to make between love and the man of her dreams (there must be another way). One of my favorite phrases in the book is “Home isn’t a place. It’s about how you feel.” I liked the addition of Timber, the husky rescue dog. Husky’s are warm, loving and intelligent dogs who make wonderful companions (can you tell I own a Husky) There are lovely descriptions of Anchorage (a place I would love to visit). I appreciated the epilogue that nicely wrapped up the book. Must Love Music is a sweet story that will warm your heart.
I have recently been given an opportunity to binge read Melissa Storm and I have to say I like her style more and more ! This book takes place in Alaska and follows Oscar and Lolly. I think these two are my new favorite characters! Oscar is a vet who loves to work with rescue animals and Lolly is just passing through ( so she thinks). I'm hoping there's more from the series to come and hopefully we can check in on Oscar and Lolly ! A great quick read with memorable characters in true Melissa Storm form , you can read where she puts her heart and soul into her books and you can't go wrong with a Melissa Storm book or series !
A trip to Alaska, a chance at stardom, even her first gig as a performer, all Lolly's dreams for her future are happening! But mistaken identity, a rescue sled dog, and a magical kiss leave her torn between her musical dreams of Nashville and the man of her dreams. This is a delightful story about life changing choices, between following your heart or following your dream. I loved it.
Somebody Like You takes place in the beautiful city of Anchorage, Alaska. If one enjoys sweet romance with fascinating characters, settings, maybe even dogs and cats, search no more. The characters are dedicated to the work they are gifted for. There is grief and conflict as well as humor and good times. The characters seem to meet by accident …
Oscar loves all kinds of animals has recently finished veterinary school, and is opening his own practice, knowing it will take time and hard work. His mother, Kelly, is continually worried about his lack of love life, and set him up with a blind date. Again.
Lolly’s great-aunt has had hip replacement surgery so Lolly came to Anchorage to be short-term, live-in help for Aunt Ann. Lolly’s dream is to be a country music writer and singer, so she is going to meet with an agent named Kelley who promises to get her ready for the big time.
Oscar and Lolly meet completely by accident while at the same place to meet different people. After all, his mother’s name is Kelly, so when she comes in looking for Kelley, he thinks … oopsie. One irritated young woman stormed out when realizing Oscar was talking with Lolly, and Lolly realizes she has been stood up by the agent. When misunderstandings are sorted out, it takes a retired sled dog called Timber to re-introduce them. Lolly, however, is clear – she isn’t staying in Alaska. She is giving her dream career a chance to get off the ground, or if it crashes, return to the Midwest. Even if she must leave Oscar behind. Even if she never “flies” at Beluga Point again.
There is a mix of personalities, and the author is adept at showing those characters well. I can almost picture Oscar giving his mom a pregnant cat to take care of, to get her attention off him. Lolly is a lovely young woman who has an overbearing agent. Even Timber has his own pup-sonality which, sadly, drives him to disappear when disagreements upset him.
The plot is interesting, showing what happens when God’s plan and our own conflict, smashing headlong into each other. The story moves at an even pace. The end is exhilarating and surprising. I highly recommend this to readers of sweet romances.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and was under no obligation to post a review.
Must Love Music, The Alaskan Sunrise Romances, Book 1 by Melissa Storm
Oscar Rockwell lives in Anchorage Alaska and owns his own vet clinic. His mom has been bugging him to find the right girl for what seems like forever. She is constantly trying to send him on blind dates that never quit pan out.
Lolly Winston is temporarily living in Anchorage Alaska to take care of her aunt after her hip replacement surgery. It will give Lolly a chance to focus on her songwriting and music career. Something that she has been putting off much too often.
Lolly is to meet with the agent she found online at the local tavern about a possible record contract, but she is running late. Oscar is also supposed to meet another one his mothers’ blind dates there to. When a beautiful blond walks in he assumes it’s his date and he couldn’t be happier. When their true identities become clear, Lolly can’t help but feel that he lied to her and leaves upset. Oscar can’t get her out of his mind and ends up searching for her. When he finds her, he is able to talk her into going out with him and they hit it off. When the agent shows up and offers her a contract and way to her dreams, will she take it? Will Oscar have to say good bye to the girl that finally got his attention?
Must Love Music is such a cute read about following your dreams. Lolly wants a music career but at what expense to get it? I really felt for both characters because you could see how much it hurt them both. You want her to succeed but Oscar wants her just as badly. Sometimes it’s good to meet in the middle or sometimes we don’t get what we want, but we get what we need.
On a blind date arranged by his mother Oscar Rockwell meets the woman of his dreams by accident. Lolly Winston thinks that she's meeting a man who can help her achieve her dream of breaking into the music industry. When she's charmed by the local veterinarian, she questions what she really wants out of life. Can a mixup lead to true love? They part, but can't forget each other. Oscar sets out to win the lady. I was pulled into this sweet touching romance. Oscar is such a caring man. His love of animals drew me to him. He's a good man who deserves happiness. Lolly is a caring woman who falls for this giving man as well as an eleven year old abused husky. This story is a touching mix of love and hope. Dreams change as do our desires. The question is do we have the courage to take the risk. Alaska makes a beautiful setting. It's rugged, beautiful and free. I love Melissa Storm's writing. She did a beautiful job with Somebody Like You. She touched my heart. I kept thinking that dreams do come true. I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinions.
SOMEBODY LIKE YOU is the first book in the Cupid’s Bow, Third Generation series. It is my understanding that they will each stand on their own.
The only other books I have read from Melissa Storm are no longer available (her children’s books), so this was a complete departure and yet not, because her love for the animals shines through. In fact, I particularly loved Timber, the rescue sled dog who first stole Oscar’s heart and then Lolly’s. I know my own fur-baby is a big part of my life.
This story is all about going after your dreams, allowing your dreams to grow, supporting the dreams of your other half, and recognizing a new dream when it arrives. This is a sweet, clean romance – so relax and enjoy!
I look forward to reading many more stories from this author!
Note: while I was given this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
Title: SOMEBODY LIKE YOU Series: Cupid’s Bow, 3rd Gen #1 Category /Genre: Contemporary Romance, Novella, Clean Romance Recommended for: 16+ due to romance Grammar/editing: B – a few small errors Received from: Melissa Storm (as an ARC gifted copy)
A sweet romance that has you wanting the characters to fall in love. Oscar gets set up on a blind date by his nagging mum, but in walks Lolly instead of Sadie his blind date. Oscar starts chatting away with Lolly thinking she is the blind date his mum set him up with and thinking to himself yes mum got this right!!! Things go wrong when Sadie walks in late. Has fate finally helped Oscar find the right girl? Can Oscar the fun loving veterinarian win over Lolly and stop her chasing her dreams and moving to Nashville. This story line will have it readers hooked right from the beginning. It is a one sitting read so make sure you have the time before you pick this book up as you won't want to put it down. I really enjoyed this story and I am looking forward to more stories like this one from Melissa Storm. I'd recommend this book to all those romantics out there.

But Oscar knows that there has to be a way to win Lolly back and he's going to find it. Will Oscar and Lolly get their HEA?
Melissa Storm delivers a funny, angsty and sweet story for an enjoyable read
Although not a long book, this grabbed my heart and had big impact. Oscar Rockwell is a veterinarian. He has a close knit family but isn't as macho as his brothers. Still, in some ways he is his mother's favorite, the one she longs to see settled and happy as soon as possible. Lolly Winston is chasing a dream, but still has time for family. Her main love is music and she wants to be a famous singer songwriter. When her aunt needs her, she moves as far from Nashville as she must while still managing to chase her dream. Fate steps in and the two cross paths, with a case of mistaken identity. Also with the help of an aging, retired sled dog. The attraction is mutual and immediate. The disappointment is harsh. When fame attempts to test their relationship it will take a miracle to set things right. Is a happy ending possible?
I enjoyed the writing and the quick pace of this love must triumph story.

I enjoyed the writing and the quick pace of this love must triumph story.
Someone Like You is a sweet story of a young man and a young woman who are pursuing their goals in life. Oscar is struggling to establish his veterinary clinic in his home town of Anchorage, Alaska and Lolly has recently arrived in Anchorage to care for her aunt and pursue her career as a country singer. Through a misunderstanding they meet and Oscar knows Lolly is “the one”, but though attracted to Oscar, Lolly is determined to work on her music career.
Both Oscar and Lolly are very likable characters and the supporting cast of characters, including a mangy cat, a sweet old dog and a loving, but meddlesome mother, add a great deal of humor and angst. The book is a very enjoyable read packed with so many special moments and wonderful descriptions of Alaska that I almost wished it was longer.
The premise of the story is cute. If it weren't so short (92 pages), perhaps I'd have enjoyed it more. For me, it lacked any build up to believe they were in love or to explain Lolly giving up her dream. Being so short didn't allow for any of that. A few technical issues bugged me:
1) Lolly signs a contract she didn't read. She then bails and we hear of no repercussions. Not at all realistic. 2) I don't believe a vet who's involved with rescue would give a husky to someone as easily as he did Lolly. She'd never had a dog before, she didn't have her own living space and he didn't explain not to let the dog loose. Totally irresponsible. Further, the dog gets loose and they both seem to be okay letting it roam free and whatever happens happens. And then we're to believe that they start a foundation for rescues. Not believing it.
Lolly and Oscar met because he thought she was the blind date his mother set him up with and she thought her new agent sent him to meet her. Veterinarian Oscar wants to be in a relationship, but he hasn't been able to find the one until now. Lolly wants to be a famous Nashville singer, but she's gotten passed over and is afraid romantic entanglements would get in the way of her dreams. They bond over rescued former sled dog racer Timber. It was cool to read about the sites and scenery in Alaska. It makes me want to visit. I can't wait to read the next book in the series to find out more about sled dog racing and The Sled Dog Rescue Organization.
Somebody Like You by Melissa Storm is a short enjoyable read. Oscar Rockwell is a vet in Anchorage whose mom who wants to see him married and sets him up on blind dates. Lolly Winton wants a music career and moves to Anchorage to take care of her Aunt and work on her music. After meeting the wrong person, Lolly, on a blind date Ocar then searches for Lolly while walking his dogs. Timber, his husky rescue was with him when he found Lolly. You will enjoy reading this book of Oscar and Lolly love story. i Loved that the sled dog rescue was part of Oscar and Lolly's story. I thoroughly recommend reading Somebody Like You by Melissa Storm. I received a free copy of this book a
Time and again I find myself reading Melissa Storm's books. Let me say outright that I don't enjoy Christian romance: I typically find myself rolling my eyes in annoyance and frustration every time church and god are mentioned.
However, Melissa Storm writes beautifully. Her characters are usually artfully crafted. Her stories seem to come from some personal place inside her, so the emotional content rings true. This was another lovely book by Melissa Storm, and reconfirmed that sometimes there are exceptions to one's rules. Worth reading, for sure. Only a short read, and perhaps not as emotionally convincing as some of her others (hence 4*), but lovely nevertheless.
This was a short and sweet romance between Oscar, who's a veterinarian, and Lolly, who's an inspiring singer. There is a mixture of fun, sweetness, a little bit of angst and surprise. As a reader you are wondering if she will pick her career or love. The author takes you on a journey to see the beauty of Alaska, the beauty of feeling. "Home isn't a place. It's about how you feel", Happiness isn't a race. It's about standing still and beauty isn't a face, it's about what you know is real". This is a feel good book and I wish it was longer so we can see more of Oscar and Lolly.
I need to start by saying that I'm from Brazil and I had the opportunity to visit Alaska last year, including Anchorage, so I loved this story. Lolly Winston wants to become a successful country singer, so she takes the chance and goes to Anchorage to take care of her sick aunt while taking the time to chase after her dream. But she didn't expect to meet Oscar Rockwell, a hot veterinarian, and his rescued dog, Timber, who immediately "falls in love" with her. When things start to work out in her career, she will have to choose if she is willing to give up her love/relationship with Oscar. I loved the story and the characters, especially Timber. I recommend the reading.
I really enjoyed listening to this book ,It was the very book I needed to read ,because I 've become somewhat discouraged , I'm dog 🐕 sitting for my niece while she's out of the country I am not a dog person but I do love animals , I'm allergic to their fur but I'm going to be okay because I know God is going to bring her safely home soon , anyway I said all that to say this you are a great writer and a sweet and strong and caring person to write about what you know to be true , a story that is about the love of a good man , and the love of an animal that can be a true best friend if let him or her ,you have a Blessed beautiful life☺
Oh my goodness... I absolutely loved this story! I loved the fact that it was your typical chase the love of your life to the airport and try and catch them before they fly away forever kind of romance as cliche as that is!!! I also love Timber!! ❤️ My favorite part of the entire story was the way that Oscar proposed using Timber!! I would have died if my husband used a dog for his proposal to me (not complaining about mine lol)... ugh I just can't say enough positive things about this cute little story...have you ever wanted to just jump into a book and never leave? Then read this little jem. I just didn't want it to end

Oscar loves being a Veterinarian in his hometown of Anchorage, Alaska. The major drawback is his mother constantly setting him up on blind dates. But this latest blind date takes a turn for the better. His date is late and he meets Lolly, who thinks she is meeting a record agent. As things turn out they both are drawn to each other, but it takes an aging sled dog named timber, to really get them together. Then the recording agent gets involved and everything changes. Lolly must chose between her dream to be a major recording star or giving the love a dog and man are asking for. This is such a fun good read
This was a sweet, well-written story. Lolly has a dream to succeed as a singer and she is offered the chance to meet with an agent at a local tavern. Oscar has agreed to go on one more blind date in exchange for his mother not setting him up with anyone else after that. Mistaken identity brings them together, and they are very drawn to each other. Can Lolly make time for something other than her big break into music? Can they find a way to have a future together? I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading others by this author.
