Baker City: Hearts & Haunts #3

Family Skeletons: A Paranormal Military Romance

Rate this book
Sergeant First Class Sullivan Barlow has plans for her future and none of them include the guy she slept with in a night of weakness. Intending to forget the devastation of losing her best friend in Afghanistan, Sully woke the next morning still alone. Her only solace—she hadn’t told the man her real name.
A career soldier, Tate Murphy has three more years in the Army until he’s eligible for retirement. Seven weeks ago, he met a woman in a hotel bar and spent the night with her. He hasn’t been able to get her out of his mind and can’t believe his luck when he finds her again.
Then they discover their first night together resulted in something they never expected. She’s pregnant, and Tate immediately proposes. Pregnant, struggling with survivor guilt, the last thing Sully needs is to learn her best friend may have died, but hasn’t left yet.
Tate says, ‘sometimes courage is an act of survival’. Sully fears trust is a casualty of war. Will she and Tate ever find it again either by themselves or with the help of those who have passed on before?

I live on the family farm, a riding stable in the Cascade foothills where I look after my senior mom. In addition to caring for her, I organize most of the riding programs, teach horsemanship, nurse sick horses, hold for the shoer, train whoever needs it – four-legged and two-legged. And write books in my spare time.

Melange Satin Romance publishes my Baker City Hearts and Haunts series as well as the Liberty Valley Love series. In Liberty Valley, the shapeshifters are running amuck and hunting humans who come to Corbettstown, their ancestral home in the Cascade foothills of Washington State.

In Kitchen Witch, Book #7, middle sister of the Jamison triplets, hereditary witch, Meteor Jamison and her soulmate, Jed Corbett fight to survive after being murdered in their past four lives. With the help of their new allies from 1888 Liberty Valley, they’ll confront their adversaries. Will they win a real future, or will they die this time too?

In Ghost Writer's Inn, Mac MacGillicudy writes action-adventure romances which never turn out the way he plans. Still his readers love them. Lillian Bryce went to war when her country needed her but didn’t return home – at least not alive. Since they met, she’s helped Mac MacGillicudy with his books. Now they’re headed to Baker City, Washington for Christmas. Will the two of them find true love in a place where ghosts are real? Or just continue writing about it?

Hope you enjoy reading the ongoing series as much as I enjoy writing them.

This book did not disappoint! All the characters become 'real' and you immediately like most all of them. The love story, as it develops between Sully and Tate is believable and endearing. She is accepted into his family whole-heartedly, despite the circumstances of her introduction, and while they learn to trust and believe in each other, you're more than willing to go along for the ride. I understand there is a 4th book coming in the Baker City series, and I can't WAIT to read what happens next to all the people's lives I'm now invested in! Get to writing quickly, Josie!!!
