Welcome to PHM102: Basic Statistics for Public Health and Policy. This Workbook accompanies the CAL (Computer Assisted Learning) sessions for PHM102: Basic Statistics for Public Health and Policy. These CAL sessions are available to download from Moodle. You should use this Workbook in conjunction with the CAL material.

The main purpose of this Workbook is to give you some practical experience in analysing data using a computer and interpreting results. Stata is the general purpose statistical package that you are going to use. You should install it onto your computer before you start the Workbook practicals. You should also load the Stata datasets and ado files that you will need for these sessions. Further guidance on this is available on Moodle if you need it.

This Workbook also includes an overview of the module, distribution tables and a formulae sheet that you will need from time to time while working through the CAL sessions.

This was a LSHTM published textbook and workbook as part of a great statistics for public health and policy course. Very well presented, with a great intro to Stata section and subsequent examples and exercises. Very good learning companion to the preset subject content
