Welcome to Spellford Cove, where the baking is sweet and the witches are wild.
Things are flowing smoothly for Robin in Spellford Cove. She’s got a support network she loves, business is going great—she’s even thinking of hiring another employee—and things with Hunter areheating up both literally and figuratively.
But when strange things start happening in town, and a number of bodies start showing up, Robin thinks there’s more to it than meets the eye. She smells magic, and she knows that she’s going to have to get involved to get to the bottom of it.
And as Robin investigates, she’ll find more clues as to her past and her biological family that will rock her world.
This is the fourth book in the Spellford Cove cozy mystery series.
Samantha Silver lives in British Columbia, Canada, along with her husband and seventeen-year-old dog named Terra.
When she's not writing cozy mysteries, Samantha loves travelling (she's most recently been to Egypt, Jordan and Florida) skiing, eating Dairy Queen, and complaining about how hard running is.
This is the fourth book in the Spellford Cove seres by Samantha Silver.
I really enjoy this series a lot but I think the parts about Robin’s father need to be fleshed out a bit. He is not my favorite character but I think seeing more about him will make this story more impactful.
This story is unique since Robin can talk to dead people. The ghosts help her out when she is solving the mystery which I think is just cool. A lot of the ghosts, like Andy, don’t realize they are even dead and she has to use her sly wits to talk to them without anyone thinking she is crazy and talking to herself.
There was a great introduction to a new staff member at her business and when you get to the end, there is a heck of a nice cliffhanger that I think people will enjoy the heck out of. Definitely a series on my must read list for sure!
ANOTHER AMAZING BOOK FROM THE SPELLFORD COVER MYSTERY SERIES!
I have felt incredibly blessed from the moment I was first introduced to this series and haven't given any of the books thus far any less than 4 stars. This book continued on with that trend and (in my opinion) Samantha Silver has an absolute hit on her hands.
PLOT: In this one Robin and her boyfriend are taking a walk along the beach when her boyfriend discovers a dead body. Almost too soon the murder is ruled as a heart attack, but Robin isn't convinced. So she teams up with her cousin Elsa to work out what happened. Meanwhile we get more from Robin's father in his plot to try and take over the world.
I have nothing bad to say about this one at all!
The book opened up with a fantastic hook that progressed the series as a whole and kept my intrigue all the way through. William Shakespaw 'shakes' provided a very pivital line that helped me to confirm something in my mind. While initially I was wrong, a massive reveal at the end actually still prooved me correct and I was very happy to have picked up on the incredibly subtle hint.
These books are like small pastries and I would eat them all, if I could - however, I noticed that book 9 won't just be the last book, it won't be out until April 25.
So, I realised I need to portion these little goodies out. To try to make the jump between book 8 and 9 a little shorter.
I would continue binging these though. If book 9 was already out. In other words: I will return to this series soon!
I loved this story and the other stories in this series. But the fact the author several times mistakenly used the wrong names of characters was confusing and caused me to lose the train of the story. But recommend this book and the series to everyone who loves mysteries
A side story about a murdered man and no real progress on the developing story with Robin's father.
Three men die in a week, each death is connected to the ocean. Chris, a fisherman in his sixties, disappears from his boat, no trace of his body is found. Josh, a young and easygoing local man, is witnessed leaping from the harbour into the icy water while talking to himself. Despite searches beginning immediately again no trace of his body is found. The when Hunter and Robin are on a date Hunter stumbles across the body of Andy, a local plumber, at the water's edge. It's assumed that Chris died of natural causes and Josh committed suicide but when they declare Andy died of natural causes something doesn't ring true to Robin.
Spotting Andy's ghost and realising that he's unaware he's died she speaks to him and he is sure he was murdered by the Portman siblings who have been trying to force him to sell his beachfront property for development.
Can Robin prove it when the police don't believe that a crime has taken place?
Robin is still dream walking with her father. He doesn't seem aware that she's able to see through his eyes. She witnesses him killing several followers who have been trying to claim god powers for themselves. See's him recruiting more members and she believes allows one to go when he chooses not to join him in his plans for world domination.
Another "cliffhanger" as the new staff member she's taken on, who has also started dating Elsa, turns out to be working for him.
It's not strong enough to work quite as well as it could. I am sure that is why the information about Robin's father is being drip fed and we're faced with these irritating information drops at the end to try and compel us to buy the next book. If the storylines were stronger they wouldn't be necessary. Just not that compelling.
This is the 4th book in the series. The mystery surrounding her father gets more dangerous. Robin has acquired the strange ability to be in her father's mind during her dreams. It's very creepy but she does get warnings of hs more bizarre actions and the potential dangers that will confront her. More deaths and more mysteries are solved. I enjoyed the book and the development of the characters.

This is a great supernatural cozy mystery series. An awesome cast of characters and a fun and entertaining storyline. Robin grew up in Minnesota raised by her adoptive parents. At one point long after her foster parents had passed away she was living in Minnesota in a dead end job when she got a letter telling her that she had family in Washington state. I know him she decided to pack up and drive out and meet this new family. She soon found out that her Family we’re all witches. She did not quite believe it at first but eventually realized it was true. She inherited her biological mothers little bakery and took it over and is learning how to use her magic. Along with her cousins her grandmother her aunt and her friends she solve mysteries murders and other crimes around their little town. A very entertaining and interesting series. Check it out
Samantha Silvers certainly has a way with words. She can weave a story like nobodies business and this book is no exception. Trying to run a business and keep ahead of her crazy father isn't easy but Robin is doing just that, then one day a ghost asks for he!p in finding his killer. What's a girl going to ??? Why help him of course. Join Holly and her cousins find the killer in Spellman Cove.
Three men have turned up dead in Spellford Cove,. Robin and her cousins suspect magic at work. With the help of their grandmother,Jackie, they think its a Kelpie who's killing these men. Robin finds the Kelpie , who disguises itself as a mermaid. Only it claims to have killed only two of the men. Meeting the ghost of the third man, he tells Robin he was murdered.
A few mistakes but otherwise it’s a decent read. The subplot, I felt was very obvious and the ending didn’t quite get wrapped up with regards to Andy’s ghost. It could have been a bit longer to make allowances for this but it’s on kindle unlimited so I’m glad I didn’t buy it.
Each book gets better as they are read. Looking forward to the next one that will be dealing with the help that has infiltrated the bakery trying to get control of the daughter for her dad don’t want to say much but if you have read the series you need to start with number one and get caught up so you will be ready for the new one
With a Charm on Top (Spell ford Cove Mystery Book 4
This wads another winner. I love this Author's imagination. She writes great mysteries and has a great way of telling her story. I highly recommend all her books and different series she writes.I also love her characters in all her books. Diana Romano
The earlier books in the series were good. This one has fallen prey to the genre, the mystery has become secondary to magic and witches.
Disappointing. C'mon, having the murderer out hjimself by drawing and shooting a weapon in public---WHEN THERE WAS NO PROOF A CRIME HAD BEEN COMMITTED!
Growing pains for Robin are beginning. Business is booming enough to support another employee. With a sign in the window she begins forming an idea of the perfect employee. Thing is there is no such thing. It’s okay she’ll learn. In the meantime she has an influx of deaths to look into. Are they a serial killer of the magic variety or something more complex?
Things are flowing smoothly for Robin in Spellford Cove. She’s got a support network she loves, business is going great—she’s even thinking of hiring another employee—and things with Hunter areheating up both literally and figuratively. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
Loved the characters and interactions, but there are no In-N-Out burgers in Seattle! You’d have to change it to burgers from Dick’s and be eating a Deluxe or Special and nix the garlic aioli for tartar to make it culturally accurate for the Seattle area. I do understand the fondness for In-N-Out, but it’s a California Thing. I was disappointed.
Written horribly,I’m done reading this series. Terrible story line and predictable. If you haven’t guessed Sean works for her father. Saw that one coming immediately
A fantastic and fun read that is a perfect cozy mystery! It’s not too much fluff or too edgy, it hits right in the middle and makes for a fun, humorous and entertaining book!
I loved this book it was so good and so well written ,I am loving the characters and story line and I am excited for the next ,I have been looking forward to it and the continuation of the story and series.
I read the whole series in a week! Great fun and mysterious situations happen again to Robin! Zeus aka Antonio is reeking havoc in the background. Really don’t want to wait until November for the next!
I am having a good time reading this series. The characters do seem to have a learning curve which is always good. It seems appropriate for teens thus far and I will send it to my granddaughter. Thanks for writing this.
I do enjoy this author. Nothing obvious but, I think, there are so many parallels to reality. A great escape from, however. Always willing to escape from reality for a couple of hours.
I enjoyed reading this book. The one thing I didn't enjoy, were the mistakes. A few times I think the author forgot where her characters were. Other than that, a 4 star book. I am looking forward to reading the next one.
The series is getting better, and this one had an ending I totally didn't expect.
My only criticism is to the editor/publisher--please fix the smart quotes! All of the quotation marks are properly curled, but all the apostrophes are straight. It was very distracting.
