Rate this book
Explores the secrets and benefits of alternate nostril breathing practices

• Includes breathing techniques to help overcome infertility, bad luck, and illnesses

• Explains the interactions of the vital energy of breath with the chakras and energy channels ( nadis )

There is an intimate relationship between breathing and our emotional states. When we are nervous or excited, our breath rate increases. Conversely, if we alter our rate of breathing, we can alter our emotional state. The ancient civilization of India developed methods for changing the emotions and states of consciousness through yogic meditation and pranayama (breath control).

Secret Power of Tantrik Breathing teaches the advanced pranayama system of svaraodaya , which is based on the fact that we normally breathe freely through only one nostril at a time. In a healthy person, breathing changes roughly every one and a half hours from one nostril to the other, with each nostril imparting different qualities to one’s mental and physical state. The left nostril is cool, soothing, passive, and feminine in nature; the right is warm, energizing, active, and masculine. When the breath remains in one nostril for longer than normal, mental and physical illness can result.

The goal of svaraodaya is to harmonize the breath from each nostril with the life task needing to be accomplished. This book explains how to practice this breath control and how the vital energy of breath interacts with the chakras and energy channels ( nadis ) to create overall balance and harmony. It also includes svaraodaya breathing techniques to help overcome illnesses, infertility, and bad luck; make predictions; and attain liberation from the cycle of rebirth.

Everyone exists primarily because of his continuous breathing. One may survive, depending upon one's constitution, without food and even water for a couple of day but not without breathing for more than a few minutes. Yet, we have not only taken breathing for granted but have also forgotten how to breathe healthfully. Western science has not helped us in this regard, too; in fact, it has been one of the reasons for most people's thinking that concepts regarding "proper breathing techniques" should rightly be consigned to the bin of intellectual dead ends or superstition.

This book dismantles such arguments used by the so-called scientific-minded people. On the other hand, however, it cannot be read on its own. When it is studied together with Swami Sivananda's "The Science of Pranayama" and "Svara Yoga", and Swami Rama's "Science of Breath", it will make a lot of sense, and will also be a very valuable addition to one's bookshelves.

Bizarre l'ambiance. Voici l’extrait:

"There is a potent method of gaining control over a woman who rejects all your advances. Approach her when she is fast asleep. If her breath is in the moon nostril, and your breath happens to be in the sun nostril, then slowly uncover her great lotus (vulva), and blow your sun breath into it. Then leave her. When she awakes she will develop such a strong itch in her vagina which can be relieved only by sexual intercourse with the man who filled her great Iotus with his sun breath. This is a secret law, which the texts say, should not be disclosed to a leacherous man. It is for the use of a good man whose love is deep and genuine."

The book is just a random text i came across and it exposes Yogi breathing knowledge. At times fascinating, sometimes useful and often just really hard to translate or bizarre.

Its an interesting source for research.
