Let's Taco 'Bout Love: Man of the Month: May

Rate this book
A recipe for distraction?

Ever since trading my dog tags for a chef's apron, I’ve been focused on making my taco truck, Guac-N-Roll, the most popular in Starlight Bay, MA. I’m determined to stay on top and keep my eye on the ball … of tortilla dough. Nothing can distract me. Until Laurel McLeod walks up to my truck.

Are tacos the way to a woman’s heart?

Ever since my fiancé dumped me, I’ve been wishing I could head home to Texas and all the comfort foods I love. Since I can’t, I’m just stalking my favorite taco truck. It doesn’t hurt that Alex Vargas, the sexy chef who owns said taco truck, is so darn charming, not to mention spicy hot! Hey, a little flirting never hurt anyone right? Except then Alex kisses me. In front of my ex! Now my ex thinks Alex is my current. And he’s invited us both to his wedding!

I’ve been burned before, and by men who weren’t nearly as capable around a fire as Alex obviously is.

But am I desperate enough to beg Alex to pretend to be my boyfriend for the weekend? You bet your carne asada I am!

The couple: Alex and Laurel

Romance genre: insta-love/fake relationship
Series: Man of the Month Club (Flirt Club)
Length: 66 pages

Plot: Alex has been watching Laurel come to his food truck for weeks now. Laurel is only in Massachusetts because she followed her fiance - now her ex. Alex finally makes a connection with Laurel, and when her ex shows up, Alex pretends to be her new boyfriend. But he very much wants this fake relationship to be something real.

Commentary: Such a cute book! I loved the way that Alex went after Laurel. He knew what he wanted, and he used every weapon in his arsenal, up to and including tacos! I also loved how both of their families were included in positive ways.

Leave it to Kat to give us a quick, fun, swoony, and steamy read.

Are tacos the way to a woman's heart? Yes, they are, especially if they are made by a hot Latino named Alex!

Alex owns the Guac-N-Roll food truck, so she is a frequent customer because she misses home so much, and his food makes her think of home.

𝒞𝒶𝓃 𝐼 𝓉𝑒𝓁𝓁 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝓂𝓎 𝒹𝒾𝓇𝓉𝓎 𝓁𝒾𝓉𝓉𝓁𝑒 𝓈𝑒𝒸𝓇𝑒𝓉? 𝒜𝒽, 𝒻--𝓀 𝓂𝑒. 𝐼 𝓌𝒶𝓃𝓉 𝒶𝓁𝓁 𝑜𝒻 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓈 𝓌𝑜𝓂𝒶𝓃'𝓈 𝓈𝑒𝒸𝓇𝑒𝓉𝓈. 𝐼'𝓋𝑒 𝓃𝑒𝓋𝑒𝓇 𝓂𝑒𝓉 𝒶 𝓉𝒶𝒸𝑜 𝐼 𝒹𝒾𝒹𝓃'𝓉 𝓁𝒾𝓀𝑒. 𝐼𝓃 𝓂𝓎 𝑜𝓅𝒾𝓃𝒾𝑜𝓃, 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎'𝓇𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓌𝑜𝓇𝓁𝒹'𝓈 𝓂𝑜𝓈𝓉 𝓅𝑒𝓇𝒻𝑒𝒸𝓉 𝒻𝑜𝑜𝒹. 𝒜𝓃𝒹 𝓎𝑜𝓊𝓇𝓈, 𝒶𝓇𝑒 𝒶𝒷𝓈𝑜𝓁𝓊𝓉𝑒𝓁𝓎 𝒹𝑒𝓁𝒾𝒸𝒾𝑜𝓊𝓈.

Alex has a crush on her and finally gets the nerve to talk to her when her ex-boyfriend shows up to remind her to RSVP for his wedding. Alex swoops in to save the day and pretends to be her boyfriend, letting him know they will be attending the wedding together.

Sparks start to fly, and things quickly heat up between them, but Laurel doesn't know if he really likes her or if he's just trying to expand his business.

This had the perfect amount of sweet and heat, and I just adore all of Kat's novellas; you can't help but fall head over heels for her characters. I can't wait to see what Kat has planned for her next book.

Laurel is studying for her MBA and has found a local food truck that makes tacos like she used to get back home in Austin. Alex has noticed the beautiful curvy woman who often buys his food. He feels the lure towards her and wants to get to know her better. A date to an ex’s wedding, meddling sisters and lots of yummy food make this a great entertaining read. The storyline was enjoyable with great characters who had funny interactions and steamy chemistry. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

“Can I tell you my dirty little secret?”
Ah, fuck me.
“I just nod and say a little prayer to the patron saint of premature ejaculations”

Alex, the hot taco guy, which I’m assuming he’s Latino, since he and his sister speak fluent Spanish.
He’s an ex-marine, that served two rounds in Afghanistan.
Now, he’s back in Massachusetts and his dedicated to make the best Mexican cuisine in his trailer “Guac-N-Roll”.

“I’ve lived most of my life quietly in the background. I’ve never minded that. I don’t need to shine brighter than my sisters to feel good about myself.”

Laurel is the middle of three sisters.
She’s originally from Austin, but is in Massachusetts for her masters degree.

“He and I made a lot of sense on paper, but having checkboxes in common doesn’t actually make a relationship”

After a failed relationship with her best friend, Laurel is gifted with his invitation to his wedding.
And is there that our ex-marine steps in and sizes his chance!

“I think I might be in love. This man is like a wet dream in the kitchen.”

I feel you Laurel, I feel you… and that’s not even the only place we’re he is a wet dream.

I liked Laurel and Alex love story a lot.
Loved Laurel shyness and Alex charisma. And I’m falling in love with the author sense of humor.

This is an absolutely adorable love story! It has humor, a hot taco truck owner, a curvy master’s student, encouraging/annoying sisters, steamy times, and tacos!

Alex is a chef who owns a taco truck. He has seen the lovely Laurel every week, enjoying his tacos, but has always been too busy with his taco truck to stop and talk to her. He finally has an opportunity to meet her and introduce himself when they both attend a food festival. Also at the festival is Laurel’s ex, who stops her and asks her if she is going to attend his upcoming nuptials. Alex takes this golden opportunity that dropped in his lap to pretend to be Laurel’s boyfriend, and offers to accompany her to the wedding.

I enjoyed this story for its sweet and funny scenes. I loved their interactions, and loved how Laurel unapologetically loved Alex’s cooking skills (amongst other things).

* Dual POV
* Steamy scenes
* HEA with epilogue
* Part of the Man of the Month Club - Starlight Bay series
* Love and tacos!

Alex operates a taco food truck in Massachusetts with the help of his sisters. Laurel is from Texas but is in Massachusetts to get her MBA before returning home to run her family’s business and is close to her sisters. Laurel is curvy and shy and has been enjoying the food from Alex’s truck and enjoys watching the handsome and sexy owner. Alex has also noticed and been attracted to her and saves her from an embarrassing situation with her ex boyfriend by offering to be her pretend boyfriend at the ex’s wedding. Things heat up between them preparing for the wedding and after the ceremony. Will things work out between them when his business and family are in Massachusetts and her family and business are in Texas?

I give this book 4.5 stars. I enjoyed this cute and short story where Alex and Laurel were both instantly attracted to each other. The author did a great job showing how they were both close to their families which could cause a problem if they got serious because someone would be forced to move away from their family. The epilogue provided a great ending for their story.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with!
Can’t say I didn’t warn you.
This is what you get when you have an alpha sexy as all get out man who can cook owns and runs his own taco truck the best in town. Laurel sweet, kind, beautiful, curvy but uncomfortable in her own skin and always feels everyone around her is so beautiful. She gets taco from the taco truck daily because it reminds her of home, and it doesn’t help the chef is so nice on the eyes. They take a moment to get to know each other he notices each and every time she comes for her taco’s add in an unfortunate run in with her ex and a date an agreement to attend her ex’s wedding so where will it go can they find happiness?

Alex owns the Guac-N-Roll truck and Laurel is a regular customer who comes frequently for a piece of home since she is from Texas. Alex is very much interested in Laurel right off the bat. While eating lunch with Alex one day, Laurel's ex shows up and Alex pretends to be her boyfriend when her ex shows up. The ex and his fiancé bring up that Laurel hadn't sent in her RSVP to their wedding so Alex informs them that they will both be there. Alex is doing it because he really wants to get to know Laurel and is all in with her but laurel thinks he is only doing her the favor to expand his business opportunities. One thing leads to another and we end up with a fantastic story! I absolutely loved Alex and Laurel together!

LOVED this fun and flirty book! Kat does such a great job bringing amazing characters, great stories, tons of steam, and lots of fun to a book. The banter between Alex and Laurel is so much fun, you just know they are meant to be. I loved how drawn to Laurel that Alex was from the very beginning. Pretending to be in a relationship to attend her ex’s wedding was just an excuse to be with her. Now he just needs to convince her that they are meant for each other. These two are terrific! I’m also excited about the sisters that Kat introduced us to that are getting their own books! I can’t wait to dive into that series when it is released!

This is a fun read with a lot of bad food puns, but that makes it oh so much better. Alex owns a taco food truck, Laurel enjoys the tacos and the view of Alex. It just happens that Laurel finally stops and talks to Alex are several weeks of seeing her, and her ex stops by with his fiancée.

There are so many things I loved about this story. Alex is just an over all great guy that goes with the flow and is willing to step in when needed. Laurel's ex is not a bad guy, they were just better friends than lover. And the sisters - yes both Alex and Laurel, they not only support their siblings but are a great support.

Overall I just enjoyed Alex and Laurel's journey from start to finish.

I’m immediately drawn to Laurel’s character - the curvy girl who always feels like she’s not quite good enough.
She eats at her favourite taco truck not only for the outstanding food that reminds her of her home in Texas. But also the hot AF chef, Alex.
They finally meet, and after an awkward encounter with her ex, they end up going on a faux date to his wedding!
What follows is a hot, spicy tale of insta love with plenty of sauce on the side.
I love all the supporting characters and I hope to see some of the sisters again in their own books.
Thanks for another great story Kat.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is a short, sweet and steamy romance. Alex knows what he wants and that happens to be the lovely woman that comes to his food truck. Laurel loves his food and enjoys seeing him. Her ex is not the best for her self esteem. One day she finds Alex stepping in and giving her a boost. Their chemistry is great. They hit a couple of bumps in the road but love wins out in the end. I thought that this was a great short love story. It was unique with great characters.

Tacos are a girls best friend... and wing-person? LoL

This book was a-dork-able. It was nerdy because they both liked food and they didn't care and they talked about it without holding back. Confidence makes us more attractive and feel better about ourselves.

Though, what really got me was Alex and Laurel, after the wedding. Their scene together. The way Alex took care of Laurel, how he was kind, gentle, understanding, and protective of it, especially in the heat of the moment really hit home with me and made him more loveable to me...(it had nothing to do with his Spanish talk!)

Pick this book up, its cute, fluffy, and has tacos? What more could you ask for?

Laurel McLeod (sister to Paisley and Willow) is missing her home in Texas, but the tacos that Alex makes are a comfort. Alex, a former Marine, has watched her become a regular at his truck. When he finally gets a chance to talk to her, her ex interrupts, and Alex tells him they are dating. Now, Laurel and Alex are invited to the ex's wedding. Laurel doesn't trust that Alex could really want her. Can he convince her otherwise?

Alex Vargaz owns a taco truck that Laurel McLeod loves to go to. They both notice the other and are attracted. Enter the ex-boyfriend getting married and need a "fake" date...take the hot taco guy!

Alex and Laurel were so funny in this book! There were many moments that I wanted to read over and over! I loved how they were both on the same wavelength. Honestly, their love was easy and I absolutely LOVED that about them. Plus a little Spanish from a hot guy is 🔥.

I'm so excited to see if the siblings get their own books because the sibling banter was so good! Can't wait for the next one!

I have enjoyed this short story, it was sweet, flirty, humorous and a good read. I felt a connection to Laurel and Alex, and I believed in their connection and chemistry. I got why Alex went a different direction, but I wish he had spoken up sooner, I really liked them as a couple and they made me smile. I loved the strong family connections and thought the story flowed well. I'm looking forward to her sisters' stories now and hope to get updates about them in those.

I just loved this book, read it in one sitting. It has a hot, sweet guy and a shy curvy girl who are just perfect for each other.
Alex has been waiting for a chance to chat to Laurel and when he gets his chance, he's invited to her ex's wedding as her plus one so she doesn't have to go alone.
Laurel believes that Alex is just helping her out, but what he really wants is a relationship, he just needs to convince her he's in it for the log haul.
This is a quick read but oh so sweet. Throw in some crazy sisters and you won't regret picking this book up!

Taco ‘Bout Cute! 🌮 🌮 🌮 🌮 🌮

May’s Man of the Month, Alex is hot and sweet. Three sisters, a doting mama and time in the Marine Corps has molded Alex into the perfect man for Laurel. Alex may have taken advantage of an opportunity to help Laurel out in front of her ex, but he’s not pretending. Now he just has to convince Laurel that what they have is the real deal.

Super cute. I’m excited that Kat has Happily Ever After’s for Laurel’s zany sisters and Alex’s little sister, Isobel.

What a great book

For the love of Tacos, this was one fun book. I loved the way Alex and Laurel met. You know it's said the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. I think it was the other way around with them. Alex was quite the Mexican Chef and Laurel loved his cooking. She could bake but not so good in the cooking department. Alex offered to attend her exes wedding to help her out of that jam. What happened from that point on you will have to read the book to find out. You'll enjoy it too. :)

His Truck Tastes of Home

Alex, the Marine-turned-food truck chef, is my favorite male main character in awhile. He’s just a decent human being, and it’s so easy to believe his instalove and to root for his happy ending. Laurel is the typical, “Not me; no way!” woman filled with insecurities so strong that she literally doesn’t take in the words coming out of this man’s mouth. That would be frustrating in a longer work. Luckily, this bite-sized offering gets in, gets out, adoring sighs for all.

So, I've never read this author before and I enjoyed the premise. This is an a quick read and an insta love story. So, if this aren't your types, then this isn't for you.

Laurel and Alex meet, both notice the other but it takes a minute before conversation is had between them. As, soon as they talk, the sparks are there and the chuckles began for me. I chuckled a loud quite few times during the book and I loved that. Hopefully, you'll enjoy this couple as well. I know I'll be reading this author again.

Oh how I loved this book and so excited for it continue with the other sisters. A fantastic connection between Alex and Laurel, when he helps her out of a tight spot. I absolutely loved his mom’s reaction to him messing up and of course sisters are always in his business. Delicious read about romance and food that will make you hungry in more ways than one. Let's Taco 'Bout It!
I loved this book! Kat kicked it out of the park with this swoony sweet love story between Alex and Laurel. Alex, the alpha sweet former Marine turned taco truck owner, falls in love with Laurel, the shy unassuming sweet taco truck patron. The fake relationship start is really only in Laurel's head because you can tell Alex is already on board. Loved this short, sweet, steamy read!

Alex has a taco food truck and Laurel is needing a taste of home (Texas). They have a wonderful quick story that is fun and funny, with a taste of spicy. The characters are terrific, with just the right amount of sass. The storyline has good depth and intense feelings to bring it to a terrific ending. Very well done.
