Honeybee Cottage: The last time Joey Walker watched Josh Reynolds leave Pepper Bay was three years ago. She decided there and then that the next time he visited she would never in a million years, even if her life depended on it, sleep with him ever again. She was done with secretly being in love with him. She couldn’t keep falling into his arms every time he was around. Josh was never going to see her as anything more than a holiday fling, or a sure thing. She had made her decision and had happily stuck to it, but only because he wasn’t around. She soon realises just how hard keeping him at arm’s length actually is when he unexpectedly turns up just before Christmas.

Josh had always loved Joey, but he knew she never took him seriously. She had no reason to. Growing up, he only went to his grandmother’s family home in Pepper Bay for the summer. As an adult, he knew that the world viewed him as a playboy heir to his grandfather’s millions. This year, he was determined to prove just how reliable he could be. He was back, and on a secret mission to get Joey to fall in love with him, because she was all he had ever wanted.

Returning to Pepper Bay, this time we are focusing on Jake’s brother, Josh. Despite outward appearances, the relationship between Josh and his close friend, Joey, is strained. Both secretly love the other, but do not feel confident enough to share their feelings. For me, it made for a frustrating read as I just wanted the characters to confront their emotions. There is a lot of simmering tension between the two and I wanted my happy ever after to come a bit quicker!

Although this is a stand-alone novel, I think it helps having read the previous book. Taking place just a few weeks after the first novel, I enjoyed returning to Pepper Bay and seeing Anna and Jake as supporting characters. It was nice to see some familiar faces and helped me to reconnect with all the characters of the community. This was especially helpful because I think the writer could have made things easier by using fewer names beginning with the letter ‘J’. It was a bit too confusing for my brain!

What I liked about this story is seeing Josh’s vulnerability. He is not the strong, macho character you typically see in romance stories and often turns to his American-based counsellor, Rusty, for guidance. Concerned that he will push Joey away, Josh is keen to ensure that he takes his time with his childhood friend, not wanting Joey to feel that Josh is just after a physical relationship. I liked seeing how considerate Josh was but at the same time, wanted him to gain the confidence to open up to Joey and tell her how he really felt. It took too long coming, in my opinion!

On the other hand, Joey was equally guilty in not sharing her true emotions with Josh. She has built up an emotional barrier against Josh in an attempt to stop getting hurt. However, I found her actions to be unconvincing and I am surprised that Josh did not pick up on the clues: offering to share his bed to help him sleep; parading around in her underwear; being there when he stepped out of the shower… there did not seem to be any barriers to this rather bizarre friendship.

This was my main criticism of this book. Unlike the previous story where Jake and Anna grow into a relationship, for the majority of the novel, readers are left waiting for this union to take place. I was hoping for more romance, rather than teasing, and this made me feel that this book is less fun than the first. Despite this, I found the final plot developments a big surprise and I think this redeemed my overall enjoyment of the story because it was so unexpected.

Christmas only features very slightly in the story, so I think this makes this book a good ‘winter warmer’. I think the cover of the novel could have been altered to reflect this time of year: it looks rather summery on the cover and does not represent the cold weather or even flooding that takes place at Pepper Bay. I think this is a bit of an oversight and does not do the story enough justice.

In conclusion, I liked this story but did not think it was as strong as the first book. I enjoyed watching the simmering tension between Josh and Joey but wanted to see their coupling take place a bit earlier in the narrative, so I could watch their true relationship develop.

With thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I would just like to say a big thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources for very kindly forwarding me an arc copy of this book, for my Kindle, in return for my honest review.

This is book number 2 in the Pepper Bay series and they all feature recurring characters but can also be read as a stand alone with no problems.
Pepper Bay is a wonderful place with a lovely, friendly, close knit community and I honestly felt quite at home there.
The author’s style of writing really drew me in and I couldn’t wait to keep reading more and more.
Roll on the next one in the series…..

Another instalment from the brilliant KT Dady. The second in the series, Honeybee Cottage brings us Christmas time in Pepper Bay.

Joey and Josh were childhood sweethearts who didn’t quite get and stay together. With different life paths, but always a tendency to reconnect when Josh visits Pepper Bay. He returns to Pepper Bay after 3 years and has the goal in mind of making Joey his forever love. Unknown to Joey, she resists and flirtations, not wanting to be deserted again after a hook up. Joey, in her early 30’s now, wants to settle down. The two want the same thing but will they connect for good or risk losing each other forever?

The book has a great balance of tension between the pair, fear and anticipation. Doubts, missed opportunities and confusion and the ultimate of fragile hearts.
Alongside this, it was nice to read about Josh’s brother, Jake from book one in the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed the multiple perspective storytelling from Josh and Joey and the conflicting emotions and dilemmas at times. The characters didn’t fit gender stereotypes which also appealed to me.
A lovely romance book, that warms the heart. The author writes with a sprinkle of magic, romance, tension and hope.

A highly recommended read!

I was delighted to be returning to Pepper Bay and it was great to see some recurring, familiar characters as well as some new ones. This time the focus is on Josh, whose brother Jake features in book 1 – Starlight Cottage.
Pepper Bay is a picturesque, quaint setting and is perfect for a cosy romance to read all snuggled up in blankets. I’m a sucker for books based around a community and Pepper Bay and its residents feel so familiar, safe and welcome – like returning to a familiar place after a short absence.
One of my favourite romance tropes is old friends reunite and this plot was so satisfying. Josh and Joey have had feelings for each other that go way back but neither seem to have a grasp on the thoughts of the other one so it has never really gone beyond a casual thing when Josh has been around. But, this time Josh is determined to make things different – even if Joey has other plans. Will the figure out what they really want before it is too late?
It was interesting to read a book where the male character is the more vulnerable one and I love how the story was told from both his, and Joey’s perspectives. It was really frustrating knowing both sides as a reader and I just wanted to bang their heads together. They are both lovely characters but clueless at times!
I love K.T.’s style of writing and how she develops the characters through effortless (or so it seems to the reader) storytelling. I was enamoured and engrossed from the first chapter.
Highly recommended for fans of romance.

This is the second book in the Pepper Bay series, I haven’t read the first one but after reading this one I am keen to know more about the lovely Pepper Bay and its inhabitants!
Let me just point out that this can be read as a standalone.

We follow Josh and Joey, Joey is madly in love with Josh but Josh has no idea. The story is written from the points of view of these two characters which works perfectly.

Something I really liked about this book was the beautiful warming descriptions of the cottages. I would love to live in a small cottage somewhere with my cats, house plants and hundreds of cushions!
The author very cleverly transported me to my dream home and surroundings, having this warm comforting feeling while reading a book is amazing, and shows that the author knows her audience well.

I enjoyed getting to know the characters and found them all likeable from the get go and I am definitely looking forward to getting stuck into the third book!

If you like reading the works of authors like Jo Thomas, Nancy Barone and Sarah Morgan then you will love this book!

I received a free copy of this book from Rachels random resources, views and opinions are my own and have not been influenced by anybody.

This is the second installment of the Pepper Bay series, however, this also makes a perfect stand-alone novel, having never read Starlight Cottage (the first book) I still enjoyed this.

This is a fantastic romantic tale based in the cozy community setting on the Isle of Wright. K T Dady's writing style, makes this an easy read, a classic feel-good page-turner and I just adored the characters within the entire book.

If you are looking for a heartwarming all-rounder, which enables the reader to escape for a short time and would be suitable for either a cozy winter read or a relaxing beach read in the summer, then Honey Bee Cottage is definitely the book for you.

I am excited to find out what is next in this series, and will definitely be going back to read the first one! Highly recommended to all romance readers!

Thank you Rachel's Random Resources, who arranged the recent book tour and sent me a gifted copy of this book, in exchange for an honest and voluntary review. All opinions are my own.

This is the second book in the Pepper Bay series , it can however be read as a standalone if you want to do.

This is the sort of cute sweet heart warming romance that makes you smile as you read it and makes you happy. In the book we have Joey and Josh (these are characters in the first one but the author builds the background for you so you don't miss out on parts of them) , they are both in love with each other they just don't know it!

I loved following their story and seeing how they each react to different situations , their thoughts and feelings. The author has done an amazing job with the characters , you can definitely close your eyes and picture them and the surroundings (I definitely wanted to be at Pepper Bay!). The book flow nicely throughout at an even pace , it is a book that I didn't want to end and I can't wait to catch up with them again!

Honeybee Cottage is the second book in the Pepper Bay series but can easily be read as stand alone. In book 1 we met Jake Reynolds and book 2 is the story of his brother Jake.

Jake and Joey have been best friends forever and have a relationship wherever Jake comes back to Pepper Bay. Both are in love with each other but have no idea of the others feelings. Joey has decided to stay away from Jake whilst he tries to convince her he loves her.

I instantly adored both characters and loved the way the author portrayed them. I really liked the telling of the story from both perspectives as it gave an insight into the feelings they have for one another. Pepper Bay sounds such a delightful place to live and it was great to connect with characters from book 1 again.

I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it if you are looking for a lovely easy read. I'm now looking forward to reading book 3.

Thank you K.T Dady and Rachels Random Resources for gifting me a digital copy of Honeybee Cottage in exchange for an honest review; in Honeybee Cottage we follow Joey Walker and Josh Reynolds. Best friends for most of their lives, they were each other’s first loves but will Josh stick around and will Joey be able to open up and finally reveal her true feelings to her best friend?
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Honeybee Cottage and following Joey and Josh on their discovery of their true feelings for each other. It was such an enjoyable read with characters I fell in love with. I can’t wait to drop back into Pepper Bay again in the future.

This is the second book in the series (Starlight Cottage being the first which I reviewed earlier in the year) and I really recommend reading that one first to get a good understanding of the background.

I do find myself getting a little confused with the amount of characters in this series, this is just me and my simple mind! 🤣

I enjoyed this book and it was reasonably easy to read. I did find the beginning a little samey and too much of forcing a point.

I very quickly guessed how the book was going to go and if your just looking for a simple, nice, easy read then this book could be right up your street ❤️

This is the second in the Pepper Bay series, but can easily be read as a standalone.

It sounds such an idyllic place, with friendly people & close knit communities, very much like my home town of Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

The story is uplifting, heartwarming & I fell in love with the characters of both Joey & Josh.

A well written read that I thoroughly enjoyed & am definitely going to be reading more by this author.

Many thanks to Rachel's Random Resources for my tour spot & gifted copy.

The main reason I like this story is because it took me to a little bay on the Isle of Wight where there are numerous chocolate box cottages and adorable quaint shops down by the sea, so this book gets five stars from me.

When with a history, is there a future?

Joey Walker loves her life in Pepper Bay. And she loves Josh Reynolds. Problem is she hasn’t seen him for three years. Josh was Joey’s every first: first kiss, first time.
But as Josh only came to Pepper Bay during the summer holidays when he was a teenager, to spend time with his grandparents, Joey is sure that he sees her only as a holiday fling.
And even as adults, she couldn’t stop falling in his arms every time he was around. But enough is enough, Joey cannot keep waiting for Josh to realize her feelings for him. So even that Josh now is back, she keeps him at a distance, or at least tries to…
Because now Josh is back in Pepper Bay, and has turned his whole world around. Gone is his air of playboy and he wants to prove that he is now a reliable, responsible man. But most important, he wants Joey to fall in love with him, as much as he is in love with her…

Ooh I loved returned to Pepper Bay! This is a little community, but so lovely that I want to go there myself!
And of course it was wonderful to see the characters of the previous book also again (but no worries, this can be perfectly read as a standalone).
And obviously, I was very curious about Josh and Joey, and their tale.

I have to admit, sometimes I found it a bit strange, seeing how comfortable Joey and Josh were when together. No worries about seeing each other in the shower, staying in the same bed. Even if they have some history together, I for sure wouldn’t be feeling so comfortable around the man I love when just being friends, showing all my flaws (even if he knows them already).

But that is also the charm of this book. Despite the hidden feelings, Joey and Josh know each other through and through and beside that one secret of their feelings, they don’t have any other secret.

It’s very hard not to like Joey… she is not only kind and generous, but she is also very unselfish. She wants to keep her distance from Josh, but she is still there for him when he truly needs her. She puts her own feelings aside to help him during his most difficult moments.
But she is also a woman that has had enough… she realizes that she cannot wait for the impossible to happen, and no matter how difficult, she tries to forget the man she loves…

And Josh… I admired the changes he went through. From a playboy, with drinking too much, with some help he managed to change his whole life around. He now wants to make something of his life and show everyone he is not the same guy anymore.
He has matured, and even if he has real feelings for Joey, he doesn’t wat to jeopardize the great friendship they have.

There was a moment that nearly stopped my heart (you know what I mean when you get there) but the aftermath was even a little  bit magical, and made me feel all warm inside…

I am always a sucker for romances, especially the kind friends to lovers. And this story was exactly what I wanted to read! Even if the pace sometimes was a bit fast, especially the ending, that didn’t bother me. Because when you know, you just know!

While reading, I was smiling, actually laughing out loud, feel frustrated sometimes, I just had all the possible emotions! I found this a heart – warming story, about people with a past, afraid to admit their feelings, not realizing they are reciprocal. But even if the characters don’t have the love as a couple (yet?), there is always that love for a friend, that will always prevail over the feelings of staying away from each other.

This was a great next chapter of the series, filling perfectly the first book’s shoes! Be prepared for the rollercoaster of emotions, but mainly be prepared to be surrounded by a sense of warmth, surrounded by love!

My Opinion

I have read some of the later books in this series so I am now going back and reading the earlier books. This is the second book in the series and whilst it could be read as a standalone, there will be much more enjoyment if read in the correct order. I have to say that this series has been filled with great characters so far and it has been great to catch up with some familiar characters. I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to reading the third book.

The second book in this series set in Pepper Bay. This book is about Josh, brother of Jake and part owner of a successful chain of worldwide coffee shops left to them by their Grandparents.

Josh has been in love with Joey all his life, but his issues cloud his judgement. After running away to sort his life out, he's back in Pepper Bay, back home, but can he sort his life out with Joey.

Joey is the sister of Nate, farmer at Pepper Pot Farm. She's running the bakery and tea rooms started by Jake and Josh's Grandmother. She has vowed not to let Josh back in her life again, but can she keep that promise to herself?

I laughed and cried reading this book, so well written. Each book is a standalone story featuring main characters in the Bay, but the books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.

I've already downloaded the next book in the series and can't wait to read it!

Book 2 in The Pepper Series and we are reading about Josh and Joey. Josh is the brother of Jake who we met in book 1 and it was good to read more about the Walker family (Joey’s family). A few twists and turns and some drama but a happy ending. Such great community spirit in Pepper Bay that make for an enjoyable and uplifting read.

The stories in this serie can be read separately as each one focuses on different people, but reading book two (this one) first will give away the ending of book one and you would miss out on a really nice feel good and heartwarming love story. You can find my review for book one in the Pepper Bay series here.

This book tells the story of Jake’s brother Josh and his childhood friend Joey with whom sparks flew when they were younger. In book one Josh came across as a bit of a wild one, a charmer with the ladies, but unpredictable and far from stable… but perhaps he has changed and will show Joey the new and improved Josh?

I loved being back in Pepper Bay… it seems picture perfect, with a lovely community feel to it, charismatic and unique little shops and wonderful people.

"Love is a mystery to us all. I guess you find it where you find it. There are no rules, not really."

This is book 2 in the Pepper Bay series but can be read as standalone. This was a delightful read with a lovely community and homely feeling to it.

Josh and Joey have been friends since they were teenagers and have feelings for each other ever since but neither of them have idea on what other person feels so things remain casual. This time Josh wants to express everything and is determined to make Joey fall in love with him. Their thoughts were what gave us insights and glimpses of the past but at the same time made it so frustrating that I wanted to lock them up until the share their feelings. I wanted to shout at them.

I liked how the male character showed his vulnerable side with all the openness and I don't remember seeing this in any books. They were both great but totally unknowing to their feelings. The other characters were pretty amazing too.

It was first for me by the author and the writing style was smooth and it drew me in. I liked the last few chapters with how Josh's grandma made an appearance. I can't wait to read more of her work and other books in this series. This story was heartwarming and filled with cozy vibes.

Another fabulous book, my heart melted at being back in Pepper Bay, it really is a magical place.

All the characters feel like they’re my friends, Joey and Josh are perfect for each other. It’s just taken them years and years to finally admit it each other.
