I have never claimed to possess any particular musical talent. In fact I think it’s rare for a cat to stake a claim to fame based on musical ability alone (a certain Broadway musical notwithstanding). So when Harriet suggested a joint performance of cat choir and Father Reilly’s St. Theresa Choir, I didn’t exactly bubble over with excitement.
You see, St. Theresa Choir’s conductor had recently been murdered, and I was more occupied with solving this heinous crime than Harriet’s audacious plans. And then of course there was Tex and Marge Poole’s house that needed to be decorated, with Gran finding the perfect interior decorator to meet this challenge. His unorthodox methods quickly drew criticism, though, especially from Tex. And so things got a little heated, but then what else is new?
Nic has a background in political science and before being struck by the writing bug worked odd jobs around the world (including but not limited to massage therapist in Mexico, gardener in Italy, restaurant manager in India, and Berlitz teacher in Belgium).
When he’s not writing he enjoys curling up with a good (comic) book, watching British crime dramas, French comedies or Nancy Meyers movies, sampling pastry (apple cake!), pasta and chocolate (preferably the dark variety), twisting himself into a pretzel doing morning yoga, going for a run, and spoiling his big red tomcat Tommy.
He lives with his wife (and aforementioned cat) in a small village smack dab in the middle of absolutely nowhere and is probably writing his next ‘Mysteries of Max’ book right now.
I LOVE Max! Nic Saint has nailed this series. As Odelia & Chase hunt a murderer, with the help of Max, Dooley, Harriet and Brutus, when the new choir leader is killed. The race is on for the new choir leader, and the cats decide they should be included as a double event in the choir concert. Not to be overlooked, the dog choir wants to be in the show, and you can just imagine what a concert that will be.
The choir director is murdered and several people are prime suspects. It is up to Max and friends to solve the crime. Meanwhile Harriett has an idea to hold a joint concert with the church choir and the cat choir. Gran has hired a decorator to do the Pooles new home so look out for fireworks.
Purrfect harmony or great discord? The story is centered around the death of the new choir director and the search for the person responsible. Max and Dooley are helping. Gran is once again out in left field as Marge and Tex prepare to finish the new house. Zany fun...
This mystery kept my attention right from the beginning. I love this series and am anxiously awaiting the next book. This had a great story line. Loved it all the way through.
I love how once again multiple stories are told, weaving around a podcast edible murder. Add a crazy designer, plans for three choirs to perform at one never before seen performance and you have another hit!
Again an interesting book and an interesting twist to the identity of the suspect. Also an interesting story line about the interior decorator, turned out to be a real nut.
Well, Max did it again! This time the church choir conductor was murdered. What about the cat & dog choirs singing with the church choir? Check that out. Also, check out the interior designer. Read another great story about Max & Dooley and the gang!!
So nice to be back with Max and the gang. I had been reading other books and visiting Max was a perfect (purrfect?) was to spend Mother's Day weekend. Be sure to read the afterward!
