Tansy Falls #1

The Inn at Tansy Falls

Rate this book
Dearest Nell, if you’re reading this letter, I’m already gone…

You’re my best friend in the world, and as my last request I’m asking you to lay me to rest hundreds of miles away, in my crazy gorgeous, totally one-of-a-kind hometown of Tansy Falls. I know you’re a born-and-bred city girl, but hear me out. After first losing Adrian, and then me… I know your heart is hurting, Nell. I think you’ll find that you need Tansy Falls as much as I do.

So, I’ve got it all planned out. For two weeks, you’ll be staying at the sweet, local inn and every day you’ll be trying something new. And if you follow my instructions to the letter, you may discover there’s more to my story than you think. A surprise something… or someone at the end of it? Only you can find out!

Some last advice before you set off, Nell. Don’t forget your sturdy boots and make sure to give Boomer, the inn’s resident dog, a belly rub from me. Stay well away from former quarterback Brody Knott (boy, do I have some stories about him!). And finally, let the future bring what it brings. While Tansy Falls may look small, I know better than anyone that new beginnings can be found in all kinds of places. That little Vermont town you’d never heard of? Well, it might suddenly begin to feel just like coming home…

If you love feel-good love stories by ReaAnne Thayne, Debbie Macomber and Robyn Carr, you’ll adore this gorgeous, heart-warming novel about starting over.

A delightful read. The Inn at Tansy Falls is that feel good book about self discovery and finding happiness.

Penelope "Nell" Swift and Megan Shaw were the best of friends. Thick as thieves you might say. Their friendship crossed oceans and withstood the test of time until Megan was taken...by cancer. But Megan was prepared. Megan's last wishes to Nell were spelled out in a letter. A letter requesting Nell to scatter Meg's ashes somewhere in her hometown of Tansy Falls. The letter also outlined an itinerary for Nell to follow. An easy task, but will it be that easy for Nell?

The Inn at Tansy Falls is a well thought out novel brimming with down-to-earth characters. From the smart, but introverted and socially clumsy Nell, to the witty and extroverted Meg. The other characters in the story play well into the narrative and they are just what you would expect from a closely knit small town such as Tansy Falls.

The storyline flowed smoothly and seamlessly between past and present. And those seamless transitions are what made the plot easy to follow -- that is to just follow the itinerary, get out of your comfort zone to experience everything that life has to offer in a small town.

The Inn at Tansy Falls is a cheerfully sentimental novel that will evoke all the feelings of happiness and joy, as well as sadness. Truly a lovely work of fiction. Five heavenly stars.

I received a digital ARC from Bookouture through NetGalley. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.

The Inn at Tansy Falls is the type of story I turn to when life becomes overwhelming. A feel good romance, and an easy read is, at times, just what I need to escape the everyday.

Nell's dear friend Megan had recently died and Nell was on a mission to scatter her ashes in Megan's beloved town of Tansy Falls. Megan had devised a quest for Nell something to get her friend out of her comfort zone and hopefully enjoying life again. Only first Nell had to fly from England to Vermont, USA to fulfill Megan's two week holiday quest. To nervous Nell that was a quest on its own!

Cate Woods has based this story on a best friend's dying wishes. With so many people touched by cancer be it a friend, sibling or parent, many will relate to Nell's feelings and loss.

Each mission for Nell is stated through a letter written by Megan before she died. Megan hopes, through this lovely little town where she spent much of her childhood and teenage years, Nell will come to find peace and courage. Nell was always the quiet, cautious one whilst Megan was the livewire.

I loved following the mission with Nell as she came out of her shell and got to know some of the people of Tansy Falls. People who had known and loved Megan. The story is filled with vivid descriptions of the area, small town gossip, long held feuds and two very handsome men. While at times Nell is insecure and unsure of herself I enjoyed her character growth. It was slow to evolve which made it all the more believable.
Cate Woods highlights how small tourist towns are being taken over by large conglomerate hotels.

Each mission Nell embarks on took the reader on another beautifully described adventure into this winter wonderland.
The Inn at Tansy Falls is a feel good, clean romance with a host of truly likeable characters.

A story of new beginnings, taking chances and finding courage.

I have no idea why I waited so long to read THE INN AT TANSY FALLS by the awesome author Cate Woods. I have never read her books before and now know that she goes straight for the readers heart and THE INN AT TANSY FALLS did exactly that. I finished this with tears streaming down my face and a huge lump in my throat, at the same time I was smiling like an idiot! I love when an author can do that to me.

When Nell’s best friend, Meagan dies from cancer, she leaves Nell a hand written note. Nell is given very detailed instructions by Meagan, that she is to visit Tansy Falls, Vermont. She wants Nell to spend two weeks at the Tansy Falls Inn. Everyday she has to try something new. Nell fulfills Meagan’s request and heads to Tansy Falls, but she isn’t comfortable out of her comfort zone and as a result, isn’t very happy! Well friends, hold on to your seats! This is going to be one heck of an emotional roller coaster ride! There are so many twists and turns that will floor you as you are read. Meagan knew exactly what Nell needed even when Nell herself didn’t!

I fell in love with all of the characters in THE INN AT TANSY FALLS. They are all very relatable and you can’t help but feel as if you’ve known them forever. Once you start reading, you will not be able to put this sweet story down. I cried my eyes out while finishing THE INN AT TANSY FALLS. Cate Woods shredded my heart, left me sobbing, and then put my heart back together again. I just love when an author does that to me. When I was finished reading, I sat there for a very long time wondering what I would have done in Nell’s situation and I hope I would have handled it the same selfless way she did.

Grab THE INN AT TANSY FALLS, snag a snack and your favorite beverage and get on the couch. Be prepared to spend the day with mixed emotions while reading this beautiful story and keep the tissue box handy. The more I was reading, the more I found myself slipping into the story and living vicariously through Nell. I was so engrossed in her story and was constantly rooting for her happiness even if at times I was wondering if she was making the right decisions! I am now on a quest to read all of Cate Woods’ books, she goes straight for your heart.

This was a different read for me but there was just something about the blurb.

But I’ll be honest it took me three days to settle into. This was mainly due to me rather than the book. Nell’s best/only friend has just died of cancer and I felt early on that Nell might be too much work for me. Don’t worry she fully won me over once she reached Tansy Falls.
But once I’d settled in and Nell had met Darlene I was good. It’s an enjoyable read. It reminded me of Murder She Wrote without the murder of course. That kind of gentle small town easy story.
I really liked it, made a good change of pace for me. I might even read the next one.

I have to say I thought this was an interesting description.

...but in the few strides it took him to reach the front door she sensed a difference in him, a sort of rugged physical confidence, as if he’d just been out hunting bison or corralling horses.

Heartwarming, comforting, cute, funny, emotional with lovable, quirky and relatable characters and set in an absolutely dream of a place called Tansy Falls, this book ticked all the right marks.

Similar in vein to 'P. S. I Love You' except that instead of a dead husband it is Nell Swift's best friend Megan who, by leaving a letter and an itinerary after her untimely death, encourages Nell Swift to take a trip to Megan's home town of Tansy Falls in Vermont to not only scatter her ashes but in the hopes that while there Nell will also rediscover herself after going through a bad patch in her own personal life.

With the beautiful backdrop of Vermont and a storyline that is equal parts emotions and laugh out loud moments, this book is perfect Hallmark movie material.

The Inn at Tansy Falls de Cate Woods

Argumento:

The Inn at Tansy Falls was hearwarming contemporary Women’s Fiction that revolved around Penelope Swift, aka Nell, and her visit to Tansy Falls that changed her life.

The story was about rediscovering yourself, getting over grief and loss, finding happiness and place to belong, friendship, and love.

The plot was lovely. I liked the idea of following the itinerary to honour the wish of late best friend.

Tansy Falls was a fictional setting based on village in Vermont but it was no less than a character here.

Best part of the book was letters that showed how deep Megan and Nell’s friendship was, how well they knew and loved each other.

It wasn’t heavy on romance but it’s something Nell discovered along with her journey to happiness.

Overall, The Inn at Tansy Falls was uplifting, delightful and feel good women’s fiction with beautiful picturesque setting making it perfect armchair travel and adventure. If You like Finding Home by Kate Field, you would love this.

Nell's life is filled with grief and turmoil. A long-term relationship is over and her best friend Megan has just passed away due to cancer. Megan leaves Nell a letter requesting that Nell scatter her ashes in the town of Tansy Falls, Vermont, where she spent time as a child. Nell, a London accountant, travels to Tansy Falls to fulfill Meg's wishes. Meg's request is accompanied by a two-week itinerary of things she wants Nell to do while she is here. Some tasks are more difficult than others, but Nell begins a journey that will introduce her to new people and new experiences.

This is a beautiful book about love, friendship, and starting over. Megan's letter and the tasks she has prepared for Nell take her on a journey in the midst of her grief. Even as Meg's life is ending, she sends her beloved friend on an adventure to help her learn to live again. This is a heartwarming book that I would recommend to all.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'The Inn At Tansy Falls' by Cate Woods.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Cate Woods, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous.

Publication date 12th May 2021.

This is the first book I have read by this author. It is the first book in a three part series.

I was originally drawn to this book by its beautiful eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis. It also stated in the synopsis 'If you love feel-good love stories by ReaAnne Thayne, Debbie Macomber and Robyn Carr, you’ll adore this gorgeous, heart-warming novel about starting over'. I am a huge fan of Debbie Macomber and Robyn Carr so am looking forward to see if it lives up to this. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of 34 chapters. The chapters are medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in Vermont, USA 🇺🇸.

This book is written in third person perspective with the main protagonist being Nell Swift. The benefits of third person perspective especially with are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.

It is set over multiple time lines. When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader (if it is well done) understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions. It also shows the bigger picture.

Wow!! What an absolutely gorgeous book and I was completely over the moon when I came to the end of the book and realised that this is actually the first book in a three part series. I absolutely LOVED reading this and was devastated when my journey at Tansy falls same to an end.

This book is beautifully written with vivid descriptions and stunning surroundings I was absolutely captivated throughout. The cover and the synopsis work perfectly with the storyline.

The storyline is absolutely gorgeous. If you enjoyed reading 'P.S I Love you' then you will LOVE reading this!!! Instead of the husband leaving an itinerary it's the best friend Megan and she sends Nell on the most beautiful adventure. The storyline is realistic and down to earth and the setting is picturesque. I was absolutely sucked in from the first to the last page of this heartwarming and soul lifting page turner. On several occasions I had to reach for the tissues so make sure you have a supply to hand before you start reading this and clear your time table as you are going on a beautiful journey. I genuinely felt like I was on holidays in Tansy Falls and I was devastated when I realised I had to pack my bags and leave at the end. However, all is not lost and I cannot wait for the next book in what promises to be a page turning series.

I fell in love with not just Tansy Falls but all the amazing people in there. It was such a friendly village where everyone knew everyone else and you would never feel alone. I loved how Nell's character and personality developed throughout the story and I bonded with her immediately. Her friendship and closeness to Megan is beautiful and a story that I won't be forgetting anytime soon. Nell went from a girl who was petrified to get on a plane to a strong woman changing her life. Jackson is an absolute hunk and I cannot wait to see where things go!! I LOVED Darlene who was such a vivid and larger than life character who I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of!!! Liza and Brody are just absolute slime bags and I'm sure we will be reading more of them soon.

Cate congratulations on an absolutely stunning novel and welcome to my top author list. Your book is a page turning heartwarming and soul lofting success and Cecilia Ahern has definitely got some competition!!! I would love to see this turned into a movie and I hope your busy writing book 2 as I for one cannot wait!!!

Overall an absolutely gorgeous book that will whisk you off to Tansy Falls and lift your heart and spirit. A page turning, addictive compelling novel that will leave you wanting more.

Genres covered in this book include Romance Novel, Contemporary Fiction and Domestic Fiction amongst others.

I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of ReaAnne Thayne, Debbie Macomber, Robyn Carr, Cecilia Ahern and anyone needing a gorgeous break away.

272 pages.

This book is just 99p to purchase on kindle via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

Rated 5/5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

The Inn at Tansy Falls by Cate Woods is a feel-good tale. Penelope “Nell” Swift goes on a special journey courtesy of her deceased best friend, Megan Shaw. Nell has become reclusive the last couple of years. Megan asks Nell to scatter her ashes on Mount Maverick in Tansy Falls, Vermont. She also wants Nell to explore Tansy Falls and provides a detailed two-week itinerary. We follow Nell as she is forced out of her comfort zone. The characters are developed, realistic, and relatable. They are down-to-Earth characters, especially Darlene. I could relate to Nell who is introverted and socially awkward. Nell has a big heart. She loved her best friend and wants to do her last request. I thought The Inn at Tansy Falls was well-written and thought out. There is good dialogue. The story moved seamlessly between the past and the present. The author provides beautiful, vivid descriptions of Tansy Falls. I could imagine the town, the charming inn, and the cluttered, but cozy general store. I loved Fiske’s General Store. I wish there was one in my town. I appreciated that the author told the story in the third person narrative. It makes for an easier to read story plus we get to see the bigger picture. This is a sweet story with wonderful characters, a cozy town, and special ending. I enjoyed following Nell on her journey where she ventures outside of her comfort zone. There is some mild foul language in the book. If you like to read Debbie Macomber and Robyn Carr, then you will enjoy reading The Inn at Tansy Falls. A phrase that stuck with me from The Inn at Tansy Falls is, “Out of your comfort zone is where the magic happens.” The Inn at Tansy Falls is a charming tale with a loving letter, an inclusive itinerary, messy mud, sparkling snow, a beloved Boomer, a dubious developer, and a joyful journey.

The Inn at Tansy Falls was such a fun and refreshing read. A book about friendship and second chances. I loved everything about the story and I know you will too!
Nell made her best friend a promise that after she died Nell would sprinkle her ashes in her favorite place, Tansy Falls. Megan has fond memories growing up in a small town with beautiful mountains, waterfalls, and the nicest people she considered family. Megan knows Nell has been struggling and this trip will hopefully bring her some peace. Nell has to spend two weeks at the Inn and each day she’s instructed to visit a place Megan loved. The trip will bring her closer to Megan and take her out of her comfort zone. With all it’s charm Tansy Falls will be the final resting place for Megan and a fresh start for Nell.

It's fall and if you can't make it to Vermont to see the leaves change and bask in the beauty then grab this sweet read instead. Life, loss, and room for change is the best way to describe The Inn at Tansy Falls by Cate Woods. Stepping out of your norm and into something fresh and new can be tricky. Unless you have a dearly departed friend that bequeaths you love in a form of a plan. It's what this book is about. Friendships and love.

A cozy feel good heartwarming small town tale. Mell finds her self on a plane heading to Vermont from the UK to fulfill her best friend Megan’s final wishes. Megan used to spend her summers at the small town of Tansy Falls in Vermont. Not only is Nell there to spread her friends ashes but she has a two week itinerary written by Megan that she has been “ordered“ to abide by. The itinerary leads Nell to meet many lovely colorful characters and takes her out of her comfort zone. This was such a wonderful story about Nell and her really learning to trust herself again. She was such a fabulous character just so authentic and kind. I really loved how well her friend Megan knew her and understood what she needed and what she would gain from her time in this special town. There is a tiny sprinkling of romance in the story but it really is more a tale of self discovery. A charming story that made me happy!

Penelope "Nell" Swift and Megan Shaw were best friends. They met as freshman at University and never looked back. Megan grew up in the US, but ended up at University in England where she stayed. She met her husband, married and had three children and at the age of 37, she died of cancer. Megan's last wish was for Nell to scatter her ashes on Mount Maverick, the mountain where the small town of Tansy Falls holds special memories for Meg. The letter also contained an itinerary for Nell to follow during the two weeks she spends in Tansy Falls. Nell has not traveled and she is one who is very cautious in life, but she promised Meg, do she goes. That is all I will share about the plot of this story.

The story follows Nell as she is forced out of her comfort zone. I really liked Nell's character. There were parts of her personality that I definitely identified with. She is introverted, but due to situations in her life, she is also very self-conscious and down on herself. It was enjoyable watching her rediscover the old Nell, the one she was in university with Meg. The characters in Tansy Falls were just what I would expect for a small town story. You have the crochety older people, Darlene and Deb are a hoot, those who work at the Inn who are kind and helpful, Meg's old friend Mallory who wants to help Nell as much as she can and a couple of handsome men who have very different personalities. The characters are all well-developed, realistic, and relatable. Cate Woods has descriptive and beautiful writing and I could picture the setting. I loved the descriptions of Fiske's General store, the clutter, the dust and the welcoming nature. She also includes real life events that had me laughing, such as getting stuck in the mud, or drinking horrible coffee because you care about the person who made it. The Inn at Tansy Falls is a wonderfully uplifting story. There is friendship, community, love, new beginnings and a town that I want to visit someday (too bad it isn't real). I definitely recommend this delightful story and can't wait to see what is next for Nell. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book upon request. The rating and opinions shared are my own.

When you have a book that is the "best friend or family member dies and I am following their last wishes that takes me on an adventure I was not ready for" style of book, I have found that I either love the story or hate the story. The story The Inn at Tansy Falls, had me hooked immediately, and I couldn't help but fall in love with the Hallmark-esque small town of Tansy Falls.

While living in London, Nell Swift's best friend, Megan, passes away from cancer. Before she died, Megan gave Nell a letter and told her to read it after her passing. In it, she asks for Nell to trust her as she sends Nell to a small town in Vermont called Tansy Falls. Nell decides to take the journey, and while there, she meets quite the cast of characters, from a good friend of Megan's to the owner of the town store, and characters in between.

Fans of Hallmark small town classics will absolutely love this story! I was pulled in from page 1 and could not put it down, even at ridiculous times in the middle of the night! This is one of those stories where I wish I could drop everything and move my family to a small town in Vermont or Connecticut for some crazy "find myself" adventures. But since I can't, I am super excited to read that this will be an ongoing series, where I can revisit all the characters I fell in love with, especially Nell!

This is a story of friendship, loss, finding yourself and helping your friends along the way. All in all, this is a perfect, easy beach read that I highly recommend!

Possible trigger warnings: there are discussions of grief, of the moments leading up to Megan's passing away from cancer, and having to experience the loss when Nell shares what has happened to Megan to those that knew her from Megan's childhood.

I received a free digital copy from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Are you ready for a heaping helping of happiness? Then may I suggest you read this book? It's just what you need to give you that pick me up you'll need.
This book is guaranteed to pull at your heart strings so even though it's a feel good and happy book have your tissues near by.
A woman's best friend fought so hard against the cancer but it sadly snuffed out her life in the end.
She doesn't want her best friend to be sad and think of her this way so she creates an itinerary of things for her to do for her as her last wish.
The friend is to go to her hometown of Tansy Falls and meet people she knew and do things that impacted her life. The story is of how meeting these people that used to know her best friend and going to these places changed not only her life but the citizen's of this small, feels like home town of Tansy Falls. We meet a lot of Tansy Falls citizens and they will make you feel right at home.

I enjoyed this book. I went in without reading the blurb; the cover sucked me in. Nell has just lost her best friend Megan and is following her final wishes. The story of Nell’s adventure, to honor her friend, make changes in her own life, and learn why the town was so important to her friend.

Nell is traveling to the US with the destination of Tansy Falls, VT. The first hurdle of many will be to get on the flight – she hates flying. She is tasked with scattering Megan’s ashes. Once at her destination, she has daily tasks and meets wonderful characters along the way. I love the changes in Nell as she discovers what makes Tansy Falls special. What a way to start a series.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Mission accomplished! I was determined to read one more book in 2022 and I just did it. 102 books, and now onward to the books that await reading in the new year.
"The Inn at Tansy Falls," by Cate Woods, was absolutely a delight to read! Very rarely do British writers let me down, and Ms Woods certainly did not. Her writing, much like that of the late Maeve Binchy, envelops a reader, making them feel they are living the lives of the characters. In this case, I felt transported to tiny Tansy Falls, Vermont (which reminded me of Middlebury, Vt)- a small town where everyone knows their neighbors, the shop keepers, and where many have lived for generations.
At the start of the novel, Nell Swift is reeling from the premature death of her very best friend, Megan, who had died a month earlier of cancer, leaving a husband and three young children behind. As a final gift to Nell, Megan had written an itinerary for Nell to discover after Megan's death. Megan's wish was for Nell to travel to the states, specifically to Tansey Falls, to experience many of the joys Megan had when she grew up there decades earlier. The trip was to end with Nell freeing Megan's ashes at the top of Mount Maverick. Nell would be welcomed with open arms by almost all the locals she would meet. Megan knew that and had done some planning about which Nell had no idea. Most welcoming of all, from the very start, was Darlene, an older woman who never would give away her age, other than to say she was born the same year as Jane Fonda. Darlene owned the local general store, Fiske's, but it was getting to be too much for her. She was planning to sell to a conglomerate whose liason, Liza DeSouza, assured Darlene that the store, which had been in Darlene's family forever, would remain a store. Nell was not as trusting as Darlene, and time and time again, she ruffled feathers, sometimes angering Darlene with her nosiness, but Nell was an accountant in London, and wanted to look over the paperwork for the sale, just to protect Darlene. She knew how special the woman was to Megan, and she grew fond of her, as well. Darlene assured Nell that her attorney, old Ted, was handling everything with care. How could he, though, with his failing senses? Nell worried, but Darlene insisted Nell stay out of this.
Mallory was another dear friend to Megan when they were both growing up. She and Nell, likewise, became friends, linked by their mutual love for Megan, and their shared loss. Mallory and her family welcomed Nell with open arms.
Over the course of the two weeks Nell was to spend in Vermont, she came across a man who owned an old home Meg had insisted Nell visit as part of her itinerary. She was to swing on an old swing in Jackson's yard...if he would ever let her go back there. He was living with his little boy, and rumor had it he might be pining for his ex-wife.
Then there was Brody, the town charmer, handsome, smooth, and a former boyfriend of Megan's when she was young, but whom Nell remembered being told that he was trouble. He turned on the charm when he met Nell, taking her to the top of the mountain to help her choose the right spot to release Meg's ashes. She was not interested in him, romantically, but having a bruised ego from a bad break-up back in London, his attention was flattering. She agreed to have dinner with him one night, even though the man who intrigued her, Jackson, did not seem interested.
Nell spent two extremely full weeks at The Covered Bridge Inn, in Tansy Falls, after which her life would never be the same. She would find strengths she never realized she had. She would be gifted a way to heal, and she would, perhaps, finally find her place, where she was meant to be, a place that would become home, with all the joys a good home can bring.
Thankfully, Cate Woods is only in her early forties, so has many decades ahead of her in which to write. I will devour her books from now until I can no longer read (hopefully not for another 30 years). A good British novel always feels like a giant hug to me, and keeps me entertained for hours on end. 5 stars all the way! This book reminded me of a British Hallmark Movie in the best ways possible. Now, onward to the new year, and many great books to come.

Sam is a television presenter: a job that she has been focused on since childhood. But with the wrap party over, and meeting a man who piqued her interest, she’s thinking her summer may have more than just relaxation and looking into new opportunities. Until she’s caught by the paps and finds that the man who claimed not to know who she was is married, given her a fake name and is talking to that press.

Nothing to do but dash off to her sister’s house in Rhodes: a sheep farm where Fiona, her twin daughters and husband have made a new life. I’ll be honest – the highlights of this book for me were the moments with family and the kids, and even the sheep – and the descriptions of the countryside, the food and the changes that Sam was forced to make. Now Sam herself wasn’t a particularly engaging character – there was a bit too much ‘I’ve done everything right BUT this” sort of attitude from someone of her age and years in the business, and a bit of that wore thin quickly. But – in Greece she meets the neighbor Spyros – a very Greek, take life as it comes sort of man, and lo and behold her first love, Aaron makes a reappearance.

Yes, I enjoy Sue Roberts’ books and for the most part her characters – but this one just didn’t ring any real bells for me: there was little connection between Sam and either romantic interest, her family was more responsible and responsive to her needs and building her back up after her trauma. And while the romance didn’t really work, it did feel like there were little sprouts of growth and change that Sam could have nurtured a bit better – and given us a more ‘I am woman, hear me roar’ attitude. But overall, this was a solid beach read – not emotionally drawing enough to disrupt the flow, but enjoyable and scenic – and enough to make you want to explore Rhodes for yourself.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

If you are a fan of Robyn Carr’s Virgin River Stories, then this book is practically tailor-made for you.
Following the death of her best friend, Meghan, Nell is tasked with scattering her ashes and visiting her childhood home in America. Nell is not in a good place with her personal life and hates flying, but her loyalty to Meghan sees her board a plane and start a journey that will affect her life, beyond her wildest dreams.
This book was an absolute joy to read, and I adored it. As Nell follows a series of daily tasks, she discovers the hidden secrets to the beautifully named, Tansy Falls. Sitting at the foot of Maverick Mountain, the sleepy Vermont community is about to be impacted by a massive tourist development which could change the face of the picturesque town for ever.
There are many wonderful characters, that Nell meets along the way, but Darlene and Jackson are the two who have the biggest impact. I loved how ornery Darlene immediately bonded with Nell, making a friendship that was destined to last. Jackson, on the other hand, was more of a slow burn, a single Dad trying to protect his son from any more heartbreak, he doesn’t make it easy for Nell to get to know him.
Nell’s adventures are simple, yet she discovers so much about herself as she faithfully visits the local museum and learns about Maple Syrup.
Cate Woods has discovered the magical recipe for creating a character driven story and not making it too obvious as to what will happen. Of course, I had my hopes as I got further into the book, but I won’t spoil it for future readers.

This is a truly fabulous read, a very different, moving story of friendship, loss, promises and finding yourself.

When her best friend loses her battle with cancer, Nell is shocked to be given a letter from her, the start of which is shared in the synopsis for the book . . .Penelope “Nell” Swift and Megan Shaw were the best of friends and when Megan lost her battle with cancer she leaves guidance for Nell to spend two weeks in Tansy Falls, with different things to do each day, places to visit, people to meet and the promise of a surprise at the end of the two weeks.

With great characters, beautiful scenery and different plans for every day, this is a heartwarming journey revisiting some of Megan’s favourite places and meeting people who knew her. It is an emotive read, a journey of discovery, an opening up of new possibilities, creating new dreams and friendships. It is a story filled with love but also one with mischief, lies, angst and turmoil. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and will definitely be looking out for further books in this series and by this author in future – such a superb read, I can’t recommend this highly enough!

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.

I enjoyed this sweet story of a strong friendship across the miles. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley. My review opinions are my own.

A long friendship is changed forever by cancer. Megan dies from cancer and leaves specific instructions for her friend Nell to go to Megan's hometown to not only spread her ashes but to explore the people of the small town and develop friendships along the way. Nell is in need of friends and Megan makes sure this happens for her. With exact instructions Nell begins to follow she meets people who change her life and soon realizes her friend is helping her develop a new life.

This is charming throughout as Nell discovers herself and begins anew. This is a must read that sweeps the reader away and gives us all a sense of friendship through the ages. Well done to the author.

The Inn at Tansy Falls had me feeling all of the feels. The story begins with sadness but ends with happiness. Nell's best friend Megan has just passed away from cancer but she leaves behind a simple request, for her friend to scatter her ashes in the town of Tansy Falls. Megan also includes an itinerary of places that she loved as a child and wants Nell to explore while there. When Nell arrives she quickly falls in love with the town and its residents, including a single dad who she finds herself attracted to.

This was such a magical book. The writing captured all of the emotion and feelings and made me not want to put it down. I do hope there will be a sequel since I can’t wait to see what happens in Nell’s future in Tansy Falls.

Thank you NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for this ebook.

I have to admit that this book wouldn't have been my first choice to pick up. Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed this story of rediscovery, coming to terms with loss and the search for a new life.
Our heroine, Nell, has lost her best friend to cancer, her boyfriend to another woman and the baby she was carrying to miscarriage. All in all, her life has been less than perfect recently. Her best friend's dying request is that she takes her ashes back to the town she stayed in and loved as a child, Tansy Falls. She has given Nell a whole itinerary of things that she needs to do during her two-week stay. While there, Nell finds that she not only starts to fall in love with the town and the people in it, but that she also begins to rediscover herself.
I enjoyed the characters and the setting of this book. While it was quite clear where things were heading, that really didn't matter and I enjoyed seeing the story unfold. There is a romance angle here, but it really takes a back seat to Nell's journey to remember her friend and discover what she really wants out of life. Despite the quite melancholy start and the subject of the story, this is really a feel-good life-affirming tale and one that I thoroughly enjoyed. A really good read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Nell has just lost her best friend to cancer. While trying to grieve her loss, she has to fulfill her best friend’s last wishes to travel from England to America to scatter her friend’s ashes.

Megan, the friend, sends Nell to Tansy Falls, VT, a small town where Megan spent many summers growing up. Megan leaves Nell an itinerary to follow while in the town which teaches Nell what is special about this place.

Although the book was a little predictable at times, I enjoyed it a lot. The characters are well developed and there were some very touching moments in the story. I think this is a great start to a series.

Thank you NetGalley for a free copy of his book in exchange for an honest review.

The inn at Tansy Falls by Cate Woods is a solid feel good book. It is a fast read and I enjoyed the main character, Nell who was sent to Tansy Falls by the wishes of her friend Megan, who had recently passed away from cancer. Megan sets up both the trip to her hometown, and an itinerary for Nell to follow in order to help Nell with her grief and her own recent personal problems. I had assumed this was a stand alone book but it appears it is book one of a series. I look forward to reading the next book! Thank you NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the chance to read this ebook.

This is my first book by the author and what a wonderful story overall.
After losing her best friend, Nell wants to start over and fulfil her last wishes by taking a holiday to the small town Tansy Falls.
I enjoyed her interaction with everyone, from the inner keeper to grumpy man that helps her out when in trouble.
As it’s a short stay , I couldn’t really feel the love story development but it definitely made for my imagination to run wild and hope for the best in the Nell’s future.

Heartwarming story and beautiful setting, a must read book for woman’s fiction lovers.

The last book of August 2021 and what a sweet way to finish off my month. I chose to listen to this one and the narrator was easy to listen to and engaging. For me to say that has meaning because I rarely like a narrator. 🤣🤣

I loved this story. Can I go to a real Tansy Falls now please? 🤣🤣 Such a cute and heart-warming story of not giving up on life, taking chances and learning to love again. This was needed and I definitely recommend for anyone who needs a quick pick-me-up.

What a sweet summer read. Just what I needed—something lighthearted, with a little bit of mystery and some wonderful characters. When Nell’s best friend, Megan dies, she leaves instructions to follow that lead Nell to discover truths about herself and help determine her future. I enjoyed it. And I loved the town of Tansy Falls even though I’m not a small town girl.
