Trusting You, Trusting Me

Rate this book
I used to believe in true love and happy ever after, but my ex taught me that not all men are prince charming… and that I can’t trust myself to tell the difference.

I had a plan for my life: a husband, a couple of kids, a successful career in animal medicine. For a short time, it looked like I was going to get everything I wanted. But my prince turned into a frog, and I was left trying to navigate life as a single dad.

Then along comes Ash Southerland, and our one-night stand turns into so much more. Once again, I can see a path to the future I always dreamed of. But what if I’m wrong, and just like before I’m seeing something that isn’t real.

The longer I’m around him, the easier it is for me to believe that this time I might get it right. If he can learn to trust others after all he has been through, then surely, I can do the same.

But when family secrets from his past come to light, will our newfound love be strong enough to weather the storm?

They agree to a hook-up, but it was so good, they want more. Each man is working on their issues and doesn't have time for a full time relationship.
Asher, 26, Graphic Artist, was attacked and went to

therapy, but is still skittish. He gets a dog, Manny, so he's not alone.
Ezra, 35, with his Veterinarian business is busy

with that and the shelter, but also has an ex husband and twin 5 yr. old boys that they share custody of. Johnathan and Jacob, plus the calico cat Oliver, keep Ezra on his toes.

They soon extend their one time to many more after three months time, and are falling hard for one another. Asher doesn't know about the ex and twins until he pulls up to surprise Ezra, and that is a shock.

Later, after that settles down and they continue to move on, the men are happy together, and the kids love Asher and Manny.

Asher is at the park with the kids when a stranger is hanging about.
After that chaos, Asher has a strange request to go to LA to meet a movie star, so he brings Ezra to see what the secrecy is all about. It's a mystery with a stunning circumstance.

Our men are great together, with their terrific personalities, the way they interact, and with the boys, we see them having a great future.

There were some errors in writing and word errors, but I didn't let it ruin this wonderful story. The bonus here was the Hart Security group of men, who were Asher's found family, so they were fun guys.

This is a super hot, sexy romance with a few surprises.
ENJOY ! :)

No rating because I don't have any feelings towards the story, it was just meh.
The writing was decent but I didn't really feel the chemistry between the two MCs or feel excited to continue.

Yay!!!

Sweet, sweet story. Ash deserves a sweet story where he has his family. Love this couple they were perfect together. And love that Ash isn’t the third wheel any more. Looking forward to Ryan’s story but to be honest I’m really hoping we get a story for the new member of the family Super star Jackson, AkA Michael Smith.

After reading Saving the Senator's Son, I had high hopes for Ash's story. Once again, Jacki James did not disappoint, because this book was an amazing combination of cute, genuinely touching and a sprinkle of intrigue.

A story of instant attraction, even if both Ash and Ezra had initially tried to fight it. Ash was still dealing with the aftermath of the attack, living in fear, while Ezra had difficulty finding a new balance in his life as a divorced, single father of twins. Neither of them ready for a relationship, yet, at the same time, unable to stay away from each other. An one night stand became more, and we all know how these stories usually go, right? Before long, each step they took to get stronger as individuals meant also one step toward each other. Going from cute when they couldn't stop thinking about one another to absolutely steamy as soon as they had the opportunity to have some private moments.

The author took the angst to a low level and I appreciated that. Ash and Ezra went through pretty rough times, but the saddening parts of the story were compensated with humor, entertainment thanks to meddling friends, and cuteness galore provided by doggies and by Ezra's adorable sons. It was an all around romantic, fun and fulfilling story that I wholeheartedly recommend.

Just right

I think the Hart Security series is my favorite from Jacki James. I love that it centers around brothers, best friends and found family. And...and, I’m so happy that fierce, resilient Ash gets his HEA with the wonderful Ezra after all that he went through. “This was not at all what I had planned, but lucky for me, what life had planned for me was better than anything I’d ever imagined.” Sometimes life surprises us in the best ways even though we may stumble along the way at times and this book is full of fantastic and adorable ones. I read it with a huge smile on my face, wishing for my own townhouse so I could be a part of it all.

Ash is attracted to Ezra but he has trust issues due to being brutally attacked in an alley a few months before. Ash and Ezra keep running into each other but it's very difficult for Ezra to trust and get close to him. Trust doesn't come easily to Ezra either ever since his divorce. As these two men find it harder to deny their attraction and keep getting thrown together, they become friends with benefits as they each help heal the other and learn to trust again as they navigate their way to their HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

Such a wonderful little love story. I loved how they met at the shelter and the pup that Ash picked was so darling. As they started becoming buddies that messed around it grew. But with secrets sometimes that growth can start to die. Once they talked and thought about things the how they became a family was so heartwarming.
I do recommend this for anyone needing a good feel.

I did receive an Arc for a review.

This book is sooo sweet! It's my kind of book, sweet, almost being sappy but that's what I like .
Ezra and Ash met when Ash goes to a pet shelter to pick a dog, because he needs some kind of security after an attack in the street. Ezra is a veterinarian and a divorced dad of twin boys (so adorable) and sparks happens between the two man, who didn't want a relationship

I received an arc in exchange of an honest opinion

Both men were not ready to start anything serious but they felt the chemistry and were taking things slowly. I ended up I falling in love with Ash and Ezra. It was easy to read, funny, and I couldn't put it down. If you like dogs, men with kids, over protective friends, great support network and lovely surprises then you are guaranteed to enjoy this.

Such a great book. The main characters are attracted to each other but neither wants more than a one night stand. One night quickly leads to more nights as these two get to know each other. The relationship falls into place easily. Not without some issues. A beautiful love story. Loved it from start to finish. I highly recommend.

I really enjoyed this book. The author had me hooked on Ash and Ezra’s story from the beginning keeping me turning the pages until the end. I thought the author did a nice job of showing the developing trust and relationship growth between Ash and Ezra as the story progressed. I’m now wanting to read the Hart Security series - don’t worry, this can easily be read as a stand-alone.

I am already loving this spin off. I am so happy that we get Asher's story and I love Ezra. Both these characters are so sweet and I just love them so much. Seeing how their relationship develops and how they both start to trust each other and themselves is so beautiful to read. Such an amazing story and I can't wait for more in this world.

I really enjoyed Saving the Senator's Son, the first book in the Hart Security series so I was really looking forward to reading more in the series. Trusting You, Trusting Me is a side story in the series following up on Trey's best friend Ash and it met my expectations.

Ash is still suffering from the attack on him that occurred in the first book and is trying to get his life and confidence back. He meets Ezra, a veterinarian, while looking for a companion dog. Ezra is a single father whose life revolves around setting up his new practice and raising his twin boys. Neither man is looking to be in a relationship, but we all know how that goes! I found the progress in their relationship extremely well paced and while they have a lot of chemistry what really stands out is their developing friendship which each of them needs almost more than a relationship.

I really loved both MC’s. Ash is a supportive friend and a good man while Ezra is a great father and a sweetheart. They deserve all the happiness they can get and their HEA. We also get to follow up on Trey and Roman and the rest of the Hart Security guys, and I can not wait for their stories.

One of the things that I found different and respected the author for is in her treatment of Ezra's ex husband. In many stories of single fathers, the ex is the villain and while the marriage did not work out and the relationship between them is rocky which is the reason why Ezra is not looking to be involved with anyone again, his ex is portrayed as a caring and good father and they are co-parenting the best they can regardless. It added some nice depth to the story.

There is a subplot of intrigue with Ash being stalked and the result of that twist was a great surprise that set things up nicely for another book in the series, I hope!

While the first book is still my favorite, this is a very solid and enjoyable return to the series.

MM – Low Angst/Drama – Romance – HEA

Love comes when you least expect it! Ezra and Ash both have trust issues, but for different reasons. Their relationship starts as a let us keep it simple, friend with benefits arrangement and ends in their well-deserved HEA. In between, you get an adorable meet-cute, lively twin boys, and a dog that will steal your heart.

Trusting You, Trusting Me: A Hart Security Spin Off is a spinoff of Jacki James Hart Security series but can be read as a standalone. I recommend you read this low angst, low drama story ... it left me smiling! I am looking forward to the next book in the Hart Security series!

*Thank you for the advanced reader’s copy. I am happy to leave my voluntary review.

Trusting You, Trusting Me is a great romance by Jacki James. The title says it all. This is a story where both men need to learn to trust again, both in themselves, and each other.

I quickly feel into this book and didn't want to put it down.

I enjoy the way Ash and Ezra meet, and adore the way everything develops for them.

This is a tale with an instant attraction, plenty of sweetness, and trust issues.

Their story includes some suspense and anxiety as someone is watching Ash. I enjoy the way all of this is developed and carried out. With Ash's past attack, the tension is definitely increased.

I enjoy the writing style, and I adore the men and all the lovable side characters. We get to visit with the men from Hart Security, as well as be entertained by cute kids and a sweet dog.

Trusting You, Trusting Me is a great, low angst romance. This Jacki James read had me smiling a lot. I highly recommend it when you're in the mood for a feel-good romance, filled with adorable kids and dogs.

This is an easy and enjoyable read with two very likeable main characters - Ash and Ezra and some interesting side characters including a rescue dog!
Ash is a graphic designer who is not after a relationship. He’s the victim of an assault and feels he needs to come to terms with that and family issues first.
Ezra is a veterinarian, divorced and the father of 5yr old twin boys. His trust issues stem from the breakdown of his 10yr marriage.
Together they have amazing chemistry and a very steamy one night stand which leads to a friends with benefits situation and a lot more steamy times.
Their relationship progresses, trusting themselves and each other more, with only a bit of angst and drama along the way to their HEA.
I really enjoyed this engaging and enjoyable read and look forward to more in the Hart Security universe.
Characters from the first book in the series are featured but this can be read as a standalone.

A very cute, sweet and highly enjoyable story. Ezra and Ash are both extremely likeable characters, and then we got to revisit all the Hart Security guys and Ash’s best friend, Trey, of course. Add on a couple of cute kids and a total sweetheart of a rescue dog, and I was loving the whole cast. Ezra’s ex-husband is a bit more difficult to like but I ended up being quite surprised at the maturity with which they handled their relationship. I’m also glad there was no sabotage of Ezra and Ash’s relationship or anything by Graham. The little bit of suspense in this book comes from someone watching Ash for weeks. After his previous assault, he’s more cautious and paranoid in his life. I had no idea what direction it was going in, but I can say the slight tension was well done and lead to a surprising little revelation at the end. A wonderful and quick-to-read spin off of the Hart Security series!

It's official! I am a huge fan of the Hart Security series by Jacki James.
Trusting You, Trusting Me gives us the story of Ash, who we met in the first Hart book. He is simply the most loveable, squeezable guy! While working on his issues from the past he doesn't feel ready for a relationship but sure misses being with a guy.
Enter the cutest meet over a pet adoption! Ezra is a veterinarian who volunteers at the rescue center. He is an overwhelmed single dad, wary about getting into another relationship. These two decide to keep things casual. We've all heard that before!
I gobbled this delicious love story up in an afternoon and was left so happy! Full of all our favorites from the first book you will be drawn into this world and never want to leave.
I am eagerly waiting for the next book!

A Sweet Delightful Story

I haven’t read the book this spinner off from, but that didn’t hinder my enjoyment of this story. There’s enough explanation that you never feel lost, but you will find yourself wanting to go back and read it.

The storyline in this book was very engaging. Ash and Ezra were both such sweet characters. You can’t help but want them to have a HEA,and you’ll want it to be together. They’re drawn together from the first meeting. It was inevitable but still really fun to watch.

The story flowed well, and kept my attention the entire time. I can’t wait to see what Jacki James has in store for the side characters, who are also a part of the original series.

So happy to get Ash’s story!

I’ve enjoyed the Hart’s Security series a lot. Though this is a spin-off it references characters and events from the series and I really enjoy that kind of crossover.

Ash & Ezra were great together. They had good chemistry and were definitely the right fit for coming together as a family. Cute kids that were more than afterthought and something I enjoyed seeing was an amiable “ex” relationship that actually improved too, sometimes making a positive change in life affects more than you expect it too. The little bit of intrigue was interesting and what it turned out to be wasn’t what I expected before the confrontation, though maybe a tiny bit predictable after. However it also leaves me intrigued for the future...a second spin off?

Overall a great book from one of my favorite authors. Definitely recommend it.

I really enjoyed this! I haven’t read the book where ash gets introduced but I thought the author did a great job of explaining what happened to him and I didn’t feel lost at all! I really enjoyed all of the different characters and the addition of adorable 5-year-old twins who weren’t always easy to handle! Both Ash and Ezra were interesting and dynamic characters that I was rooting for to get their HEA! I wish there had been more focus on their relationship as opposed to all of the other stuff going on because by the end I felt a little disconnected from their story and I was left a little unsatisfied in their HEA. Overall though, this was a good story with an interesting plot and great characters!

I thoroughly enjoyed Trusting You, Trusting Me. As the title indicates, trust is the central theme of this story. Both Ash and Ezra have reasons to hold back from trusting each other and engaging in a relationship. They each have their own emotional baggage and scars which tell them meaningful, lasting love isn’t a reality. The characters are so well-developed and multi-dimensional that you just sink into this slow-burn story of them falling for each other and healing themselves and each other at the same time. It’s an easy read, there’s amazing chemistry between the two MCs and has an overall heartwarming feeling to the story. Although this is a spin-off of the Hart Security series, you can read it as a standalone.

Ash and Ezra!! We meet Asher in Saving the Senator’s Son. I’m so glad that the author gave him his HEA. He deserved it! He gets spooked one night and decides to get a guard dog. He gets mix breed that is a total fluffy hearted dog and a chance meeting with Ezra who is a vet. They end up with a friends with benefits relationship. But of course feelings get involved. Both men have trust issues that they need to work out. I seriously loved Ash and Ezra!! I loved their story and how everything worked out for them! I’m voluntarily leaving a review form an advanced copy that I received.

cute romance.

Cute and easy to read romance, that read almost like a fairytale. Both Ash and Ezra have baggage from the past, and Ezra especially is reluctant to commit. Despite this, the story is surprisingly low on angst. They fit well together and things progress quickly. There's also a nice little twist at the end, which I hope might come into play in later books. It was good to meet Riley, one of the Hart security team, it's his story next, and I'll certainly give it ago. A nice upbeat read, to while away a rainy afternoon. 3.5 stars.

What a great addition to the Hart Security world!
I really loved this book - we met Ash in Saving the Senator's Son, and now we get a peek into his life and more from the Hart Security family. How he's on the road to recovery, with the help of a Frenchie mix named Manny and an attentive vet who wants to take care of both of them. It's a mix of care and mystery, with a side or two of surprise relationships. A great Spring read - just enough to get us ready for the next read in the Hart Security world.

TRUSTING You TRUSTING ME
Jacki James
Not a bad story, by any means.
Well written, well plotted and not too many editing errors in this ARC.
However, I did feel that there was something lacking in this book.
It seemed to me like the romance elements between the two main characters was only incidental. Almost as if the mcs were side players; Lost amongst the many, many friends, dogs, kids and other stuff going on in this story. So much doggy/kiddie stuff that totally smothers the potential chemistry and relationship development of the romance.
The story blasts off with the huge aftermath of an "incident/attack" that occurred in the previous book, but the author never gives any kind of explanation of what had happened. This is an oversight, since the trauma and backdraft of this incident really forms the foundation of the story.
Bottom line : if you've not read book one (Trey & Roman) you'll be on tenterhooks (as I was) throughout this book, waiting in vain for clarity that never happens. (Therefore, I cannot, in all honesty, say that this book is suitable as a standalone).

(minor spoiler)

*I kept thinking that the "stalker" storyline would somehow relate to that, but then we're whipped into (yet another) entirely new direction which leads to a rather unbelievable and unlikely conclusion.

I can't see myself reading any more books in this series. I might try reading something else from this author, though. Perhaps something I can better relate to.
°🔥 around 3 (maybe) for a very limited amount of profanity and minimally explicit intimate scenes, many of which are off page.
No on page violence.
° Dual POV. Past tense. First person.
° Disclaimer : I received a complementary copy of this title via Neon Rainbow and have voluntarily reviewed the book.

A sweet, steamy, well-paced love story between two people who had to learn to trust again.

This was a lovely book. Ash and Ezra had been through so much (in different ways) that meant they really didn't trust in others or themselves. Ash is still recovering from being attacked and trying to come to terms with what happened. Ezra is dealing with what he though would be his HEA disintegrating and realising the one person he should have been able to trust let him down in the biggest ways. I really liked that this wasn't insta love as that just wouldn't have felt right for who they were and where they were. Don't get me wrong, their chemistry was off the charts but Ash and Ezra were never going to feel trusting enough to fall straight into love. Instead we got to watch them fall in love slowly, learn to trust each other and that they could trust in their own judgment too. It made it so much sweeter to see how far they had come (not that I'm trying to be down on insta love, that can be awesome too!). There was also a little intrigue and I thought you could really feel how much Ash was affected by that (don't want to give too much away).

I would definitely recommend - you'll fall in love with Ash and Ezra both!

Ash Sutherland used to believe in true love and a HEA but after an attack, he has had therapy but is still skittish. He thinks getting a dog will help him. Vet Ezra had a life plan with a husband, a successful career and a couple of kids, but his price turned out to be a frog and he was left to try to cope with life as a single Dad. An instant attraction leads to a one-night stand but it turns into a regular thing. But can they learnt o trust each other or will secrets from the past destroy that trust that was so hard to build?

It was so lovely to read another story in the Hart Security world and for Ash to get some of his own happiness after watching those around him getting their own. Ezra was a lovely character and I really liked the way that they were able to fit into each other's lives fairly successfully. The secrets were sometimes large and sometimes just a silly thing to hide and just showed a lack of care to make sure that the other had a full picture of things. The twins Johnathan and Jacob were sweet and the big secret from the past for Ash was not as dramatic as I thought it was going to be. Easy to read, feel and understand there were several moments when I could have happily shaken one of them. An MM story with mature content.

I loved Ash in Saving the Senator’s Son and was thrilled to see Ms James write a spin-off to include his story.

Ash decides to get a dog and meets Ezra, a handsome vet. They begin a FWB relationship. Only sex, neither of them felt they were ready for a relationship.

Ezra is a single father of twin 5-year old boys and wants to keep his ‘sex life’ separate from his home life so, casual sex with the sexy Ash is perfect. With Ezra’s work and ‘daddy’ scheduled, he and Ash begin a routine of seeing each other once during the week and every other weekend. One cancelled date leads to a misunderstanding and eventually the truth comes out.

Two lonely men who inadvertently catch feelings, two adorable little boys, adorable dogs, a stalker, and a surprise at the end that I hope is expanded in future books (otherwise It was unnecessary). Oh, and little mention of the religious stuff from StSS!

*****
