I've been beaten... I've been humiliated... I've been shackled...
I've peered behind the masks and uncovered a world of secrets and evil I never knew existed, and now it's time to choose my side. These men are ruthless, powerful leaders who have seen things I could only dream of. They're cunning, sinister and too alluring for their own good. I've gone from captive to complicit in a matter of weeks, and they're each tempting the darkest parts of myself I've hidden for so long now.
I know what needs to be done. Even if it means jumping right back into the snake pit. I'm a darkling, after all, and I'll fight tooth and claw to bring justice to my kind. All bets are off because I'm out for blood.
This is the second book in the Noc City series. This is a dark reverse harem with blood, sex and plenty of triggers.
I spend 95% of my life huddled in my little office, at my little desk, vividly hallucinating about characters and scenarios that don't exist. Then I write it all down for you to enjoy!
Who needs sleep when there are Noc City books to read?
So this story was no less entertaining and captivating than the first, however it definitely didn’t feel as developed in the plot, characters and emotional connection as the first one.
Loveeeeed the story. Wasn’t a fan of Faust here. His whole personality changed from quiet and broody to a talkative asshole. The other men were great if a bit lacking. I liked the addition of Bastian. I do wish all these connection felt deeper and more authentic like in the first, but I still enjoyed them.
Maybe this one was rushed and that’s why the plot happened so quickly without it being thoroughly explained. I hope the next one is better, because I was hit with another dang cliffy lol!
Super bummed that I wasn't a fan of this book, or this series. I had been waiting for the last book to be released so I could read them all at once, and it was a wait not worthy. Again...super bummed about it. Per usual with my reviews...my quick ratings are at the very end.
Firstly...not to be rude, but did we really need to repeat the ENTIRE last chapter of the previous book...as the beginning of this book? I personally can't stand a useless prologue, but this is even worse, because the story isn't complicated enough that we need a recap. However, taking what I said from my previous review of book 1...the last chapter was the best one, so maybe the author was using that to get us amped about this book. However, hit all the same (the last chapter being the best of this book too).
There's not much to say about this book, I thought it to be just as tedious to read as the first book, the words not flowing off the page easily for me. And if you jumped into this series bc you are a fan of reverse harem, this will be a disappointment.
--Rating - 2 stars - didn't live up to what I was expecting, very tedious to read --Steam - awkwardly written. I didn't think there was a good build to each scene, making it feel forced. --Storyline - 3 stars - I was expecting more --Plot Twists - 2 stars - most are saved for book 3 --Emotional Pull - N/A --Writing - difficult to read at times, and lots of filler. Too often characters are reiterating what other characters have already said/pointed-out during their chapters --Denouement - N/A --Cliffhanger? - yeah --HEA? - N/A
Not the best installment. Things are happening way too fast for me to enjoy the world building or the relationships happening between Serenity and her guys. August is my fave tho.
Well this one was a surprise. I actually enjoyed this one a lot more than book one and found it a lot less predictable. Sure the story is still crazy, outrageous and things tend to move super-fast for beings who live hundreds of years 🤔🤣 but we won’t go there lol.
Serenity is no longer a captive however there are still limits to what she can do on her own. Noc City is in a state of utter chaos. Riots, looting and bombings are making it impossible to get around safely or unseen, particularly when the heroine is so easily recognized. It was interesting how much guilt Serenity took on herself for everything that was going on. I don’t think Faust and his cruel comments helped at all either, he’s not a fav of mine. No matter how many times one of her men told her the brewing supernatural/human war had nothing to do with her, all the negativity clouded her mind which I did find made her a bit more relatable. Can’t say I love her, I still think she is pretty dull and annoying but I’m here for this crazy ongoing drama.
The end this time was great and even though certain things went ways I had hoped for but never imagined quite a few things took me by surprise, which is always a great way to end a book. This has been an interesting series so far and at this point I just need her father to be broken and shattered to sand sized particles. He’s not really even doing much to feed the hate because it’s been simmering for so long. All he does is spark a flame and cause people to lose their ever loving minds. This is not an issue or situation that can be solved over night nor will it be easy. I’m looking forward to how this entire situation is handled because how do you stop the extremely powerful hatred, bigotry and racism building up in the humans over the years since supes revealed themselves? How do you convince people the lies they’ve been told really are lies? Sure this is a situation involving supernatural vs humans but one can’t help but notice a similarity to hatred alive today in human vs human. It’s not something you get rid of overnight and really for me, I’m kinda hoping for something epic will happen in the next book. Fingers crossed. Curious how one wraps up all that plus Serenity’s harem. #hereforit
Oh and I was wrong….. The heroine seems to be adding to her harem more than I expected, we’re now at 5 so who knows what’s next on that front. While there’s so much going on and a couple relationships that are yet to blossom I can’t see her adding any more especially with only one book left but I never said this girl made the best or worst choices 😘😘
The second installment to this RH Urban Fantasy series, and it honestly blew way past my expectations. The action, suspense/thrill and the humor, all transitioned perfectly into this one. After the recap you just know something intense is happening and it keeps building up....for an epic fucking cliffhanger! 😭
I devoured this book in 4 and a half hours. The appearance of 2, or should I say 3 new species is certainly exciting. Sebastian is charming and the development with the witches + a good portion towards the end will have you on the edge of your seat(or nearly falling off your bed) August is by far my favorite out of the bunch(and a gdamn saint...for now😏😏😏)
I love where the series is heading, the author robs me of sleep but it’s totally fine because she is a fucking genius. I’m stoked for #3, almost positive I’ll be sticking to tradition and finish reading it when the sun is coming up.
I'm callin' this book a thirst trap, idc if it doesn't apply. The story has left me dehydrated and desperate for more! Haha. I enjoyed reading this one just as much as I did the first, Penn Cassidy delivers with Blood Moon and does not disappoint! *Cue the fangirl screaming*
You'll definitely find me at the review section for the next release! 😉
Book 2 starts off immediately after book 1 with Serenity facing Alpha August and his revelation. Serenity is then given little choice but to stay in the hands of the wolves with the city burning and rioting. She really comes into her own, I absolutely love her. She isn't one of these girls that falls in love with every guy that looks at her and she isn't a doormat. Faust in particular ends up on the end of that sharp tongue and I love it. I'd quite like to punch him in the face but I think I'd have to join the queue. There are quite a few things unearthed and the ending is a killer. It takes a little bit to get there, but the build up is needed to sort out all the relationships and allow Serenity to come to terms with her place in what is going on.
Paranormal RH with characters you can't help but fall for. A few triggers tho.
Great storyline. Phenomenal characters. Excellent attention to details. Perfect pacing.
Love the twist on supernatural lore that this is based on. Love the whole premise of the book, even the whole kidnap situation cus - yeah, I like it dark.
Serenity is a halfling daughter of a prominent senator and after her brothers brutal death is awakened when she ends up with a month full of blood.
This girl goes through so much from her boyfriend and then her father who really isn't. She ends up kidnapped, meant to be used against the senator, but that doesn't work out.
Her abductors realize she's their best hope at getting their demands met, but they have to work together.
She ends up with some smoking chemistry with them.
I'm in love with this story. It's has it all. Definitely recommend this to fans of paranormal romance.
August - wolf alpha, mate Bastian - warlock with the French accent Atlas - Head of Nocturne vampire coven, r'ship with Faust Faust - the surly, damaged, feral vampire, r'ship with Atlas Merrick - sexy vampire with so much heart
Oh. My. Gosh. That's literally all I can say and feel right now. I finished both books with in three days they were so good. If even possible, the second one was better than the first. The character development for everyone involved with Serenity including herself is amazing! I don't know how I'm going to make it till the third book comes out!! I need to know what's going to happen next for Serenity and the guys.
This book was boring and all over the place. It just didn't deliver what was promised. The story line held so much promise, but the author just didn't deliver. I will not be reading part 3.
I really liked the first book of the series but this one, I absolutely loved! It dives right back in where we left off in Book 1. Serenity finding out about being mated, all the while dealing with her conflicting emotions over the other men in her life. The various POVs from the men are the best. I loved seeing things through their eyes! I’m just glad that I finished this book so close to the next book’s release date because that ending is....WOW, just WOW! The very definition of a cliffhanger!!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
That cliff hanger is absolutely atrocious but I’m really liking where the stories going so far
It’s your standard kind of paranormal reverse-harem, but it’s definitely a lot darker & grittier. I really like it so far, plus the spice scenes are great 😚
I absolutely loved August lol he is definitely one possessive alpha and makes the dynamic between all these characters that much better! I will say that if you are a Faust fan though, be prepared to not like him very much in this book! He is definitely a grump and is trying his absolute hardest to prove to everyone (and himself) that he feels nothing for our Angel of Noc City!
There were some things that happened in this that I definitely did not see coming which made it all the more interesting to read! This book does end on a somewhat cliffhanger so be prepared to want to immediately start the next book!
Girlys a good writer. I’m supposed to be sleeping but how can I put this book down? Anyways, Let’s hope it stays at 5 guys, gosh anymore and I’m going to get confused. I am however worried that there is a 6th one. And what an ending! We just finding out all kinds of stuff.
3.5 ⭐️ the ending really saved this one. For a second, I was getting ready to DNF due to the repetivness of each characters inner monologs and how the FMC reacted to her mate. I love Bastian being added into the mix, and I can't wait to see her bond with August grow after that ending.
After the coven was attacked, serenity has to run through the woods in an attempt to save her life, she became face to face with the alpha of blood moon, August. What nobody expected was that shes his mate, what seems to be impossible, because a ware wolf can’t mate with a vampire, even if it’s a half blood. The connection it’s there, but nobody could understand why! The war it’s bigger than ever, so the vampires, wolfs, witches and other species agree to work together to face the humans. Serenity it’s facing a war ahead of her and an internal battle of what she is and all this urges that are still misplaced inside her body. She craves more and her intense feelings are making her more confused than ever. She doesn’t accept to belong to any man. After being owned by so many before, she just want to find herself. When the humans take the war to another level, the powerful monster that live inside her is unleashed and her true self it’s revealed to the world.
This series is sheer brilliance. I love the chaos, violence, and constantly building tension between humans and other. The political games, war being waged and tragedy. The darkness and the light. This series is wild.
Holy crap! That was not what I was expecting! Serenity is so strong. She has been through so much but I have a feeling there's more to come so on to book 3
