In the exciting conclusion of the Endangered Series, humanity is on the brink. An alien race called the Huntas has destroyed the major population centers on Earth. The Huntas also possess a stealth technology which makes winning Earth’s freedom in space impossible. These ruthless aliens won’t stop until every human is either dead or forced to leave the planet.
All that is left to prevent humanity’s annihilation is a rag tag group of beings spread across the planet in small clusters. Humans, their talking dogs, a friendly alien race called the Mermots, and the Earthpeople must find a way to repel the invaders. So far, this unlikely team of varied species hasn’t had any breaks. Unless they can come up with a plan, and soon, they may find themselves wandering the stars in search of another place to call home.
The Seventh Extinction, like the rest of the Endangered Series, is character driven science fiction with healthy side servings of adventure and suspense. Spanning over a hundred years, the series begins with a deadly pandemic and concludes with the fate of humans and their allies.
NS Austin, more commonly known as Nancy, has published five novels: Critically Endangered, Beyond the Great Dying, Stolen World, and Seventh Extinction (Books 1 - 4 of the Endangered Series), and Soldier, Hero, Thief, a thriller.
Nancy’s novels are a combination of rich character development juxtaposed against extraordinary circumstances. Those extraordinary circumstances may include the end of the world, aliens, talking dogs, or buried treasure, and reflect the author’s love of all things a little bit odd.
Nancy spent the first part of her life working to feed, clothe, and house her family. Among her previous life incarnations, the author was an Army Colonel, a business executive, a government manager and a champion baton twirler (no kidding). Her unusual path to becoming a best-selling author is built upon the gift of raw material for a never-ending supply of interesting, honorable, quirky, and badass characters. Now that she's mostly certain she'll never have to store her worldly possessions in a shopping cart, she's free to devote herself to writing from her home in Washington State. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the series. ND Austin created worlds with fascinating inhabitants who I truly came to care about. She didn't leave any loose threads. The story is robust and full, but if she writes more about these characters, you can bet I will read it.
I can't wait to see what other new worlds she will dream up and share.
I rarely leave reviews, I am too eager to move on to my next great read. This series was just that. It is not my intention to give rave reviews for people who are embedded with their own standards of what comprises a well written series. It is my intention to commend the author for a solid, well written series that I liked immensely. Thank you.
Unusual story line with great depth of character development. The inter species co- operation was a fine example of vastly different beings uniting for the good of all which is something our less than perfect civilization needs to perfect
Great writing, great story, and great characters. It takes you away on an enjoyable journey, and isn't that what all good stories do? My thanks to the author.
The last book in the series of 4. I didn't want it to end!!! Amazing, fantastic, superb, exciting! I could go on and on. I loved every character. I could picture every one of them in my mind perfectly. Start with book #1, you won't be sorry 😁
I started this wonderful series in out of my liking it the farther I read the farther it pulled me in. Iwould highly recommend this series and say anyone who reads it is in for a great story.
This series was so good. I enjoyed all the world building. There were so many outstanding secondary characters Tilley, Jack, Jill, Freedom, Trent, Thomas, the twins, Shakete, Tammy, Brodie, Amelia, Herman, Sherman, Crystel, Rappel and so many others. I hated some parts of the ending but I can understand why that happened. I want to read more from this author. I’d like to know what happened to the group that went out in space. I wonder what happens to them. I wonder if they will ever return. I wonder how earth will acclimate to the people left living together. Did Mike get rejuvenated? What happened to the kid twin? Why was there only one Tilley? I loved this series.
I enjoyed the character development of the main crew, and how bits got tied back in together. This four volume series covers what could happen if COVID were really as bad as the politicians would have you believe.. incredibly contagious and horribly lethal, leaving only a scattering of people to retake the earth, along with telepathic doggie friends, of course. Thanks, Colonel!
Book 1 of Endangered series is a fresh and very unique take of what happens when a virus kills most of earth's population. Hard to put this series down. I loved the dogs angle, the Mermonts, and found the Ardenians amazing. Strong interesting characters. Anyone who loves plenty of action, intrigue, mystery will love the series. Austin wraps the Series up well with yet more surprises.
Excellent read . Outstanding character development and story line. About 100,000 genetically would be the bare minimum needed to restart the race although strict care would have to be taken to ensure no defects creep in. Ideally each female have a child by three unrelated males would suffice to begin again unrestricted.
I was so glad to seethe 4th book published. I.reread the first 3 so I could remember the characters. If you haven't read this series, please do so. You won't regret it.
I became completely invested in the characters and the story. I am sorry to see it end. I would like to see one on the recovery of the earth and its reach to the stars.
I loved everything about these books. Very well written. Would make an awesome movie! I loved that dogs got to play such an important part. The Mermots were cool too. Especially their names! Wish there was more.
