It was only supposed to be a solo summer trip, something to help me reminisce about good times from the past. The trip was a chance to get away from studying and exams, but most of all from the stress of hearing my parents fight about the end of their marriage.
So I rented a little beach house right on the sand, the same one we’d always stayed at. But it seemed even my vacation couldn't go as planned. And when the handyman shows up to help me out of my jam, I’m shocked to realize that I know him.
Declan Harlow. The once scrawny, nerdy boy who’d followed me around gifting me seashells isn’t so little anymore. He's six-foot-five with cut, lean muscles over golden, sun kissed skin, and is every woman’s fantasy.
When a freak storm shuts us in for the night, I'd never wanted to be so reckless with another person, especially when things heat up between us.
Because all I could picture was how it would feel to let go of my modesty, give up my V-Card, and get dirty with the only guy I'd ever wanted.
Reader Note: I know you like them fast and right to the point so don’t worry, this one gives you all the goods with a double V trope! And it’s got all the romantic filth to whet your appetite! Enjoy this good old-fashioned safe smut-fest.
This small town is paradise. Beautiful beaches, year-round warm weather and friendly neighbors. There’s only one thing missing—single ladies. During the month of April, some of your favorite instalove authors are bringing you stories set in this fictional town where the men significantly outnumber the ladies. Come meet us in Spring to find your next book boyfriend.
Lanie needs a break and returns to the one place she hasn’t been in five years but always brought her happiness. Back to the beach where her family would go on vacation and she’d be followed around by a guy who gave her seashells. Declan can’t believe his eyes when he sees the new person renting one of the cabins he helps maintain. It’s the one girl he can’t forget and now she’s here again. Then the storm hits and he wonders if she’ll even remember the guy with the dark rimmed glasses. A cute quick read about two people who never forgot about each other. The characters are enjoyable with real life issues that make them relatable. They have chemistry that jumps off the page and a connection that they finally figure out to be true love. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

WOW!! Fab*u*lous Absolutely love this one!! I couldn't put this one down. This was a nice quick, short read.
Declan and Laine met when they were kids, he fell for her, but she didn't know what love was. Laine and her parents didn't come back to Spring, and Declan wondered what happened to her. Laine's parents were having problems and when she needed time away from them arguing she went to Spring. Laine rents the same home her parents did and it brings back so may good memories. She heads to the beach to do some reading, but when the clouds turn dark she heads back. Declan fixes the problems at the rental property, one that Laine is staying at. Declan gets a call that Laine's water burst so he heads to her home. When she answers the door she realizes he look familiar. Declan shuts off the water then she asks him if she know him. As soon as Declan says Laine's name all the memories of him chasing her around trying to give her seashells come flooding back to her. They quickly clean up the water that has sprayed all over. The are both nervous around one another, when Declan tries to leave he quickly comes back inside. The storm is to bad for him to drive, Laine goes to grab him a towel to dry off and grabs an extra shirt. Soon the power goes out and they are left in the dark, Declan runs to grab a battery latern out of his truck, while Laine grabs some candles she seen earlier. Laine tells him about her parent getting a divorce, and why she came back to Spring. Declan soon confesses to her that he's always loved her, she tells him she loves him too. They begin to kiss and Declan is pleasuring her. He takes her to her bed and she confesses she's a virgin, Declan tells her he's been waiting for her. They make love, and soon realize they were meant for one another. Several years later, they're married. Declan is no longer the handyman of the rental properties. He is now the manager of the rental properties. They bought a little home they call their own and fix it up, Declan tells Laine he wants to have a baby with her. Laine owns him heart, body and soul. The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! Can’t say I didn’t warn you. (Believe me when I say you won’t put it down until the last page is read…you will find yourself getting upset cause someone called, texted or bothered you while reading this one, you will find yourself up at ungodly hours just to finish it knowing you have to be at work early (like 3am early) the very next day) YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! Lanie needed to get away from her fighting parents who were in the middle of a bitter divorce, get away from studying, she is sweet, and tries her best to treat others kind. She decided a vacation was needed just to escape all the fighting and decides to head to the same cabin they use to vacation at when she was younger. Once at the vacation spot she runs into a bit of trouble of a sexy as all get man offers to help her out and none other than an old friend from childhood helps her out. Declan use to follow her around when they were younger because he has loved her from the moment, he met her, and you would think the years apart from one another he would have gotten over his crush yeah not so. When fate decides two people belong together then she does what she wants to make it happen and these two are no different a storm headed their way forcing them to spend more time getting to know each other better. Lanie never thought that nerdy, skinny young boy following her around is now this sexy as all get out hunk of a man but is it enough for them to try and find happiness?
I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
Lanie had to get away her parents were in the middle of a divorce that was destroying her family, needing to go where she has good memories she chooses to return to the little rental they always stayed at. Things start to go wrong from the start when she arrives and finds that a summer storm is heading straight for them and when she ends up with a rather enthusiastic water leak she has no choice but to call out the rentals handyman, only for her to find the man she is looking at is the same by that chased her down the beach as a child. Suddenly it doesn't seem so bad but could this be more than a teenage crush for them both?
Declan recognised the woman on the beach instantly, the girl that he had dreamed of making his since he was fifteen has returned to the beach but he is no longer the teenage boy that followed her around. So when he gets a call from her rental and she needs help, he rushes to her aid. He thought that he couldn’t fall any more than he was for his dream girl but one look at who she is now and he knows that he has his soulmate. Will Laine recognise him and will she succumb to the man he now is?
This was a very cute book loved both Lanie and Declan they really were made for each other. I am really liking this authors writing too and look forward to reading more from her in the future. 4.5* Read.
Getting Dirty by Lena Lucas is part of the multi-author It's Raining Men series. I enjoyed this story about Lanie Fredricks and Declan Harlow. Lanie has come to Springs, Florida because she has good memories of being here with her parents for summer vacations and right now she needs to needs some time away from home. So she rented a small cottage right on the beach for two weeks to relax and forget about her parents divorce and their constant fighting. Declan is the handyman for Bohemian Rentals and grew up in Springs, Florida. When he sees Lanie he recognizes her immediately. She is the same woman that stole his heart when they were younger and she would come with her family. Every summer he looked forward to spending time with her but when they left he was once again heartbroken. Now that she is here again he is going to have to figure out just how to make sure she does not leave, ever again. One way is to get locked down together for a night when a major storm hits and the power is knocked out. I wonder just what they will get up to by candlelight?
This is a sweet and naughty short story about meeting but then losing your true love even before you know what that is. The story was nicely written with a fast-paced story-line and very likeable characters. I enjoyed this book.
I really enjoyed this story as two really nice people are brought back together again. Declan Harlow was happily surprised when Lanie Fredricks showed up at one of the cottages he maintained. He had always hoped she would come back. They had liked each other back when they were 15-year-old teens. Now Lanie has returned at 21, not just to relax from exams, but to also get away from her parents arguing about their marriage ending. She rented the same beach house her family had always rented for vacation.
When a storm moved in, Lanie began to fill water bottles in case power went out and she needed fresh water. But suddenly the water sprayed wildly, flooding the floor and sink. She called maintenance and was surprised someone actually answered. Then she waited for help. The first bright spot was eventually recognizing Declan. He chuckled when he saw the shocked recognition on her face. He used to be a scrawny kid who followed her around and found seashells to give her as his attempt to “court” her. Now he was 6’5”, gorgeous, and covered with muscles! When the power went out, the two of them, both virgins, found a way to show each other the way they felt. Would they stay together and find their HEA?
I didn't like the heroine. It seemed like she only liked the hero because he was good looking and had nice body. He keeps repeating how he had always loved her, and how he was nerdy and scrawny when they were younger. She just says that she remembers him as the the boy who chased her around, and she only started having feelings now that they were older and he's tall, ripped and handsome. I think that the goal for writers who write double virgins and childhood friends who become lovers later, is for readers to feel that these characters always, in one way or another, loved and only wanted each other. And I did think that the hero felt that way, but the heroine was only in lust with him. They were each other's one and only, but I don't think she really loved him, and she definitely didn't deserve him and his love and devotion. She did mention briefly that she thought that she always loved him, but I didn't buy that. I love alpha, possessive, loyal, devoted heroes, but I need heroines to love those heroes the same way. A relationship can never work when one gives everything, while the other gives nothing.
It's been years since she was in Spring, Florida. And now she is back to get away from her home life that so needed vacation. Great part is she can go to the same rental she did so many years ago as a teenager. He is the maintenance worker for the rental she is staying in. Crushes as teens is always something to remember. She does not know it is him at first, but he reminds her. With these two already knowing one another, it just might turn out to be a great vacation for her. Can they both come back to what they possibly could have had all them years ago. Is the crush more than just a crush? Are they both willing to put their hearts on the line? Can one night change everything? This is a fast I mean really fast insta love, but at least they have known one another for years and its not like just a love at first sight. It is one of the best insta love stories out there.

I thought that this was a sweet book. Declan and Laine were great together. I really liked the connection and the chemistry between these two; even 5 years apart couldn't stop it! I really liked that even thought Laine's life is not perfect, she still have a really good look on life. Declan has been love with Laine since they were teens but now that she is back in his town, he can't waste his time telling and showing Laine what she means to him. These two are thrown together because of a storm but it's their feelings for each other that keeps them close. I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it and Ms. Lena as a great author.

Getting Dirty is Lanie and Declan's story, childhood friends and a crush, revisited years later. Lanie needed to get away from her parents and decided to go to the place she had happy memories, Spring, Florida. While working as the handyman, Declan always would keep an eye out for Lanie's return. With a storm approaching Lanie wants to get settle in, when a pipe burst in the kitchen. When she called to get it fixed, she was shocked when she remembered Declan, but he did not look the same.
Lanie and Declan have a sweet and passionate story that will make you smile as they find their HEA. Great addition to the series.

Lanie arrives at a rental unit in Spring Florida to remember happier times in her life. Five years ago, she loved it here and a boy that used to bring her shells everyday. Declan remembers her, too, and still loves her. The two reunite as a storm hits, when her kitchen faucet breaks and sprays water everywhere. Declan is the handyman for the rentals and he gets caught at her unit because of the storm. Declan needs to state his feelings now before he loses her again. The characters and storyline are terrific, with intense emotions and feelings. Loved how they both felt the same and were both waiting for their one, which made their relationship even tighter. Loved the ending and epilogues.

I really liked this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable. The characters were interesting and likable. Declan was happily surprised when Lanie showed up as a tenant at one of the cottages where he was the maintenance man. He had wonderful memories of Lanie and had hoped that she would return. Lanie was away on vacation trying to distance herself from the situation with her parents. After running into Declan, Lanie feels that she knows Declan. Declan reminded Lanie of who he was so she knew that she knew him. I loved their happy ever after. I recommend reading this book.

I've read several books written by Lena Lucas; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is part of the It’s Raining Men Series; she has written a short story about Lanie & Declan; she has comes to Florida to get away from her parents constant fighting; she stays at the same beach house they always rented but when the handyman comes to help her she remembers him from before. When a freak storm traps them together for the night everything changes between them.

I cant state how much I loved this book. Lanie needed a vacation to get away from her divorcing parents and their fighting. She decides to go to her childhood vacation spot. Declan had loved Laine for years and when she came back to visit he was overjoyed. A storm traps them together and they address their feelings and get their HEA. I absolutely love that this was a dual virgins story. The epilogues were perfect!

They got very dirty indeed...but just with each other...;) This was a enjoyable short read with Declan and Laine coming together and meeting each other as young adults after knowing each other as teenagers, they haven't seen each other in more than 5 years. They fall instantly and very hard in love and they both give each other their v-card. It's endearing and romantic, however the story centers mainly on the sex between them.

Declan has loved Lanie since he met her as a teen. When he finally sees her again fate steps in to throw them together. Lanie needed to get away and goes to Spring to console herself. Seeing Declan again, and how much he's changed, has all these feelings welling up faster than the winds howling outside the house. Although their love is 5 years in the making it sweeps them up, spins them around and tosses them into a HEA.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. It is time for Lena to take us back to Spring, Florida. This is a second chance romance for first loves Declan and Lanie. These two met when they were younger. Her parents stayed in the beach house when she was growing up. Now it becomes not only an escape for her but a chance to have a happy future. Declan is determined to keep her around after the storm.

Lena Lucas has quickly become one of my favorite writers so I am always excited for new releases. Getting Dirty is definitely no exception. Lanie is looking for an escape from her parents fighting and impending divorce when she comes back to Florida and to the man that has always loved her. Declan is thrilled when the girl he loved finally comes back to town. Declan knows he is finally getting his second chance with his first and only love. If you enjoy second chance romance, you will love their story! Definitely recommend!
Lanie needs a break from the constant fighting of her parents. She decides to go back to the beach cottage her family went to when she was younger. She has a mishap at the rental and calls the handyman. Declan works as a handyman. He was in love with Lanie when she was younger. Now that she is back and a storm is rolling in, he may have a chance with her. This is a short read. The characters are relatable.

OMG... such a hot romance!!! Declan has been in love with Lanie since they were children running around on the beach. Now that she´s back all these years later, he knows he has to tell her how he feels... he can´t loose her again. The sparks are scorching hot between them.. so much longing and passion and heat... yet so much love and tenderness! I love their story! The story has a great flow, it´s incredibly well developed... and the characters are simply amazing! LOVE IT!

Lanie was beside her self cause her parents were getting a divorce and all they did was fight she needed to get away. She went to their summer family home they rented each year it was on the beach small and relaxing. A storm hit and the water pipe busted so she called the rental agreement to have someone come fix. Declan shows up to fix the pipe then the power goes out and she tells him he looks familiar he said yes lanie I'm the kid who gave you see shells. One thing lead to another and they both felt the same way and got their happy ever after
Lena Lucas is quickly becoming an auto-buy, especially with her dual virgin stories. She writes her men exactly how I love them...a touch of shyness or vulnerability at first but once he gets his girl, watch out..he goes feral, possessive and obsessed. Absolutely love that! Great job! Dual POV but a touch more from the H's POV, no abuse, no OM/OW drama, epilogues at several years later and another year later.
Lanier returns to the same town she used to visit with her parents to get away after she discovered they were getting a divorce. She is hoping to forget her worries and relax. She reconnects with an old friend. Both have changed but were hsve never forgotten each other. What will happen? This is a friends to lovers short, steamy, and to the point romance.

I loved this super steamy double v romance. Declan and Lanie knew each other as kids/teens but haven’t seen each other in years. A vacation on her own causes these two to be reunited. Declan has always liked Lanie and now is his chance to tell her how he feels. These two together was seriously steamy and enjoyable to read!

2.5 stars. I liked it well enough, but it was so short. I just felt like one minute they’re remembering they know each other, and the next the book is ending and they’re together. It’s less than 60 pages I think, and I should’ve known. I’m just never satisfied with books that short because they sacrifice plot to rush along to the HEA with no buildup. That’s my bad honestly. I should know better by now.
This is a sweet small town romance and second chance of sorts. It is a short and quick read with a touch of steam and great characters. The story is fast paced and interesting. Lanie and Declan are great together. She has gotten away to a positive place but things are going great. When she calls the handy man she realizes she remembers him. This is such a cute read about two people made for each other.
This is Declan and Lanie story, All it takes is one childhood crush and a long time with out seeing one another to bring these two together and a storm to trap them together to make everything right in their world. I loved this sweet love story.
