"Wild Girl" is the third book in the rejected mate romance, series,Real Wolves Biteby C.R. Jane and Mila Young. It is also the tenth book in the multi-author series,Kingdom of Wolves.
REAL WOLVES BITEcontinues . . .
My fated mate who rejected me has returned. I should have known Alistair would find me.
But the dark secrets of my new home have been distracting me from the danger I’ll always be in as long as he is alive.
A serial killer. My lovers’ psycho ex. Not to mention my strange new powers;
It’s been a lot for a girl to handle.
Two Alphas have also claimed me as their own. Now that I’ve been taken, they’ll stop at nothing to get me back. But we should have remembered that there were scarier things in the shadows than my ex.
I need to be more wolf than woman now, because to survive, I’m going to have to embrace the wild in me.
Real Wolves Bite books should be read in this order: Book #1: Wild Moon Book #2: Wild Heart Book #3: Wild Girl Book #4: Wild Love Book #5: Wild Soul Book #6: Wild Kiss
I'm a wife, mother, and author! Writing has always been a passion for me, and publishing my first series is a dream come true. I drink too much caffeine, never sleep, and my imagination is always churning out ideas. Eva and her men have been in my head for awhile, and I'm so glad to finally take you with me on this journey!
I don’t know what it was with this one that didn’t have me as captivated as the first two, Maybe because I feel like everything is being dragged out until the last book and we’re just going around in circles until then. I don’t know if there’s another guy that’s going to be dragged into this mess but I feel like I’m kinda getting the vibe that North is going to make this triangle a square. I know he hasn’t had much screen time but she’s with a bitten wolf, a Lycan and North is Fenrir which I personally think is the key to helping her accept the bonds the other two have been trying to give her but that’s just my opinion. Anyways there’s already enough drama with the other two and it really annoys me that she’s more lovey with Daxon! No wonder Wilder left. I personally hope he gives her a taste of her own medicine with Daria. I just don’t like Rune right now. So I hope the next book is better and hopefully the last
I’m not sure what happened along the way, but this series has started to disappoint me. The first book was amazing, one of my favorite reads of this year. The book that followed was alright, not terrible but good enough to keep me looking out for the next installment. This book just felt like all kinds of odd.
This is the third book in the series, and contrary to what we were all thinking, and what book one says in the description, this is NOT the last book. Far from it, if I had to guess.
What bothers me is that this book really highlights how broken this relationship is between Rune and her two men. The reason I love reading ménage and reverse harem is because ALL parties consent to it and they work harmoniously to ensure that the relationship works. I’m not sure what to even classify this as, because Wilder is completely uninterested in pursuing a relationship with Rune when he has to share her with Daxton. So does this now become a M/F romance, or am I supposed to believe someone who said time and time again he does not want this and he does not want to share, will suddenly change his mind and become a fan of ménage? I can suspend belief, but not to that extent.
Continuing on with relationships, I want to point out that there have always been three wolves on the covers of these books. I highly doubt one of the wolves is Rune, and instead feel like we’ve been seeing signs that this is going to turn into reverse harem. Why do I say that? Because there’s a scene in this book where Noah, a character I completely forgot about, saves Rune from one of the Hunters. The authors could have had Wilder or Daxton save Rune, but interestingly enough, they had Noah do it. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is setting Noah up to “take the place” of Wilder and almost force him to come to his senses about Rune and thus turn this into an RH series.
Moving along, another plot point that exhausted me was Rune finding out that she has powers of her own and can see dead people. Is it too much to ask for a simpler book, where she is on the run from her abusive ex and finds love in a small town with two men? The story seems to be growing in all different directions, making it harder to keep me engaged. I can’t help but wonder if this was to keep readers coming back. Did the authors feel that the story would have been too dry without some extra umph? I certainly hope not, because if this was their desired effect than they’ve missed the mark (for me). All of the powers, the seeing dead, the “who and what are you?” is just too much for me.
I’m sadly no longer as interested in this series as I was when I started. Not sure if I’ll continue reading, or if I do it would purely be to see how Rune reacts to Daxton, so I think this is the end of the road to me.
Rune (FMC) goes from one bad thing to another in this book. Shes in the middle of a problematic three way kind of relationship that Wilder and Daxon hate. Ex's on all sides are causing lots of anxieties for all of them. Runes Ex-mate Alistair turns up bringing his own brand of trouble with him. There was so much going on in this book that it was hard to keep up with it all. I just wanted to hug Wilder through. Hes got so many insecurities about being unwanted and unloved it was genuinely sad to read and that ending completely threw me!! Im dying to see what happens next because im enjoying reading this series so much
This book had a major pet peeve of mine. Sex after abuse. Like any normal woman will ignore the pain of a brand, beating and almost rape to have sex against a tree two secs later. As if any decent man would expect her to. Removal of a star. Screwing again and the man didn’t even ask about what happened or care how much you were hurt? Instead bites you and cause further pain? Another star gone.
What happened to the strong heroine. This weak girl who closes her eyes when shooting a gun, when people is trying to kill her, is a waste of my time.
I get everyone is beautiful and gorgeous. I got it the first 10 times.
Let’s not forget that every murder or bad thing that happens is the female lead fault. I love how she can’t defend herself when she’s in danger but is able to fight in jealousy over a guy.
Uhm ok then. Good storyline, heartbreaking as well but with heat and fight. with this book we didn't actually get any answers, just more questions. I'm really hoping this changes in the next book.
Are you serious right now!? I had this entire vision of Book 3 finally giving me what I wanted between Rune, Daxon and Wilder. But this!.......my heart cant take this ladies. 🫣
I was not prepared for that ending and I am glad that I started this series late because if I had to wait for the next book, I would literally be going crazy like some of these wolves. ******* This book started right where Book 2 ended. Fast forward through all of the craziness that went down with Alistair, I have so many questions and we STILL have NO answers for our girl Rune. What the heck is she? And that ending, both with Wilder and Daxon - they broke my heart and I'm just the reader... 🫢😳
This book/series is so good! I literally cant go through it fast enough.
*Overall 5/5 *Heat? 4/5 *First person POV (Mostly Rune) *MFM trope *Ends on cliffhanger
Rune has been overwhelmed and distracted, and now she’s been taken by Alistair. Will Wilder and Daxon be able to rescue her? And what about the other dangers that lurk in the shadows? Can her two Alphas keep Rune safe?
Holy Shot, where do I start? This book is flipping amazing! I loved the action, the mystery, the intrigue, and you know I loved the sexiness! I also loved the complexities and complications of the relationship between Rune, Daxon, and Wilder! This story took my emotions on a wild ride! The ending had my screaming for more!
I highly highly recommended this book and series and definitely consider it a Must Read! I will be excitedly awaiting the next book!
This is a very entertaining and exciting read! It’s a well written collaboration full of action, mystery, suspense and oh so much steam!!! The relationships between Rune, Daxon, and Wilder are developing but there’s complications and more then a few issues! It’s a total rollercoaster of emotions, betrayal, deception, surprises and twists and turns to make your head spin and that ending!!! Aaaaaaaaaah!
Ok so I want yo preface this review by saying that I LOVED the 1st book. I dont know what happened with this one. I feel like the whole book was angsty and wilder being unsure about rune, which lead to tones of time spent with Dax( who didn't even bother to act sane) there's so much up in the air by the cliffy comes that I don't even know which was is up. I don't know what I'd even want from the next book. I don't feel like we learned anything about rune or what she is, or that she even cares to find out. Is Allister the one sending the hunters??? See all the damn questions!!!
Things aren't going well for Rune, she's been taken by her worst nightmare and her men are going a little stir crazy over it. I really enjoyed this story and it was a real page-turner from the beginning, and I couldn't put it down. I'm really looking forwards to the conclusion of this series when it comes. There were a few questions I still need answering, but I'm really hoping they will be answered in the next book.
I was really excited about this book and for some reason I was thinking this was the last book. However I have no clue what I just read, completely confused. At times it felt like a different story. Additionally to that the books are pretty short so I’m gutted I have to wait a couple months for the next book with that ending… I’ll continue giving it a chance but idk I’m just soooo confused at the moment.
I really tried to complete this series as I hate leaving books unfinished, but it's gone total pants and have given up half way through 3rd book, I am impressed I made it this far. The first one was ok, but Rune started to get on my nerves when she was drooling over two guys and quite happy to basically cheat on both of them, but she was nothing like their ex, bullcrap. Also how freaking dense is she? When the second book decide to turn Dexon into some creepy serial killer Rune was fine with this, even though he was as bad as Alistair, guess it's fine as long as it's not directed at her. It would have been better to have kept Wilder and Dexon as opposites, or just pick one the whole multiple mate thing isn't necessary and becomes cringey. It was like lets throw as much as possible at these books without actually explaining anything and getting anywhere, abusive ex true mate, multiple new mates, hybrids, mother not real mother, can see ghosts, shoot powers, change emotions, killer in woods and now there's even a deal with the fae and so on it keeps going. Pick a storyline and stick to it, I'm sorry to be so harsh but it just got ridiculous and the more it kept going the more I hated Rune and her Alphas and thought let bloody Alistair have her and be done with it.
I couldn't finish this book or series. I thought this was the last book but there are 6? Maybe more?
This series is all over the place with things happening and talking about things and then not bringing them back up again.
What really bothered me was that Rune saw a shadow thing in the woods, didn't mention it to anyone, or maybe she did to 1 person and then her boy toys started talking about it suddenly. It wasn't discussed thoroughly with them. That whole thing weirded me out, then my last straw was vampire/wolf hybrids? What? It's like they sat down and brought up every single made up thing they could think of.
The female lead has not improved in her intelligence, and the interest in the murder mystery portion of the plot that kept me continuing through the series is starting to fade. This female needs to get smarter and make better choices and not be so fickle, at least being willing to communicate with the men she's seeing, or I'm going to be done before it's ever over.
Reading this book was hard. I kept thinking how helpless and whiney Rune seemed to me for like 90% of this story. At times the language used seemed like I was reading a high schoolers creative writing assignment. While I’m in minority this addition of story wasn’t for me.
I thought that the main character 's intelligence would improve as the story evolved, but no, it seems we are to continue suffering. But not in silence! Couldn't finish reading it, just too stupid.
I feel like the story is being dragged out (very slowly) and its just getting very repetitive and disappointing. Dont like Rune anymore and am pretty sure Ill not be reading more books in this series.
I ended up DNFing this book and I won’t be continuing the series. I tried so hard to get through it after reading the first two books. But, it felt repetitive and I have no desire to finish the book.
I started this series and I was fully invested and interested. Somehow that interest has dwindled and this series is becoming a little exhausting. I want to shake Rune, the girl is just so wishy-washy.
Oh my what a ride. Everything keeps going wrong for Rune and her mates. They just can't catch a break. A fee more plot twists in the book and one heck of an ending.
Wild Girl by C.R. Jane and Mila Young is the third book in their Kingdom of Wolves series. Wild Girl is a wild ride of a story, but it also becomes a mixed bag in how I feel about the characters. The authors pick things right up where book two left off and hit the ground running. Sadly, there will be innocents caught in the crosshairs so prepare yourself for that. Daxon and Wilder may choose certain moments to work together and put their issues aside, but these truces never last long before drama takes the forefront yet again. Wild Girl is a page-turner of a story, there is no doubt about that. I love that things pick up right where they left off, but things quickly fall into chaos. I’m not really sure what I expected from the alphas but what I get...especially from Daxon...I didn’t see coming. There are quite a few twists, surprises, and revelations that will have your mouth hanging open. The authors do a good job engaging my emotions in certain scenes. My heart literally twisted for Rune in one particular scene because I so desperately wanted that “last-minute rescue” but you just know...it’s not going to come and it doesn’t. But the fact is it kept me page-turning and that’s what matters. Get ready for a wild cliffhanger as well. I knew something was going on with a particular character in this book, but the way things go down...I was looking around like...okay, where’s the next book already? LOL! My biggest issues with this book...Daxon...and Rune. Daxon, readers already know he’s one step away from a cliff, but he really snaps in this book. For me, he quickly symbolizes the type of Alpha that in other books you’d be reading about how pack members fear and can’t wait to get away from. For me, he’s really the instigator of a lot of drama in this book simply because of the Alpha “I don’t share, I don’t care how you feel” syndrome. It’s honestly irritating. Rune says she cares about both of them equally, but that’s not how things read. I say that because this book is pretty Daxon heavy and Rune eats it up. Daxon tries to throw Wilder under the bus with one situation but conveniently hides his own instead of telling Rune what he did to innocents. Sorry not sorry but Rune and then Wilder wanting to accuse a ghost of setting a fire...eye roll central. If the ghost couldn’t even touch Rune earlier...how in the world was it supposed to: 1) knock out a guard, 2) pour gasoline, 3) seal the doors and windows, and 4) start a fire. Please, make it make sense. While this book did keep me page-turning and left me wanting more...there were just a lot of downsides in this story for me. I really need Daxon especially to stop thinking only of himself and think about Rune’s happiness. She’s said she won’t choose but by his actions, he’s going to try and force the issue, but she needs to straighten up, too. I’m rating this book 4 out of 5 stars. I desperately need the junk measuring to stop because it’s old. I don’t care how “alpha” they are they’re being idiots. If Rune wants both she needs to spend more time with Wilder and stop acting guilty all the time if she wants them both and for both of them to get along. If you read the first two books and enjoyed them, then I recommend you continue the series, but get ready for a lot of “male domination issues.”
I wrote this review on the whole series after reading Wild Kiss (the six and maybe(?) final book) so there are some spoilers in it after my warning of the series being incomplete.
I always check to make sure a series is complete before I read it so I thought "Cool, it's safe to start" when I saw this at the top of the final book listed: "Wild Kiss is the sixth and final book in the rejected mate romance, series, Real Wolves Bite by C.R. Jane and Mila Young."
For anyone reading this who is wondering if it's true - it's not. The book ends on a cliffhanger, was published quickly after the first five (so the one after it should have been out years ago) and I've dug deep, but all I can find is the authors saying "it's coming soon" for years while releasing a ton of other books in that time (I know writing individual books is different than when you're writing with a partner, but at some point y'all need to get together and finish the series you wrote too), and apparently putting up pre-orders then taking them down again multiple times if the complaints are to be believed. It wouldn't be so bad if they ended this one on a note where you could feasibly think it was wrapped up, but they do the opposite. It ends on a huge cliffhanger and people are rightly pissed about it.
Outside of that, Rune's story personal story away from the RH is interesting and thankfully the RH plays a very small part in the overall books, but I feel like we're just going around in circles at this point. I waited until finishing this final book to write a review for the series because I thought maybe everything would be answered, but nope.
We don't know why Alistar turned against her when her blood results come in or why he decided to trick her into trying again with him (though I have a theory), the Daria thing is never ending, they ghost who tried to kill Rune just doesn't seem to exist anymore despite nothing being done about her, we still don't know who set up Ray, and Wilder's pity party makes me lowkey hate him.
There are also a lot of inconsistencies that I've caught throughout the series, like the authors forgot stuff they put in their own book. First of all - if you're close enough to drive to Chicago in a few hours, you're not driving to Vegas in four hours even if you're driving NASCAR speeds. I don't know WHY this bugs me so much, but it made my eye twitch when I read the Vegas part after the previous bit about Chicago - and how did she just get a few hours away from Chicago when according to the first book, she was traveling for months? Second, one of the ways Daxon and Wilder thought they killed Ares was because they didn't feel/hear his heartbeat, which made sense because he's a vampire. But then after she saved him, she said that hearing his heartbeat brought her comfort. Which one is it? Does he have a heartbeat or not?
At this point, even if the actual final book comes out (which at this point I doubt), I'm not sure I'll be reading it. There's not much farther you can go with Rune's personal storyline and that's really all I care about in this story, because the RH storyline is just eh and I don't like Wilder, who will star in that one.
📖: Wild Moon; Wild Heart; Wild Girl. 📚: Real Wolves Bite; Kingdom of Wolves # 1. ✍️: C. R. Jane & Mila Young.
Overall rating: ⭐⭐⭐ Smut:🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Heroine: 🌶️🌶️🫑 Hero: Wilder ⭐⭐⭐✨; Daxon ⭐⭐⭐⭐. Plot: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ World build: ⭐⭐ Would recommend? Unfortunately, no. I think it started great but I'm dropping this after the 3rd book (there are 6 and it's not over yet).
This started so good. At first the way the story was being told really hooked me, I was curious about Rune and her past and this new city was so creepy and mysterious. The first book was slow to ve honest, but I really didn't mind it, I thought it was building up to something and it was worth it. Now, I'm not so sure... I've noticed that this is just overall slow, the authors walk in circles and don't really get anywhere. I'm no closer to answer in the third book than I was in the first.
And also this is just a mess.
First you have werewolves. Then you have three different types of werewolves. But thats fine. Then you have vampire hybrids that even the authors can't explain the existence. Then fae. Then ghosts. Then shadow monsters?
And this would all be ok IF they had introduced the ideas before. I've read countless books with a wide variety of creatures, but the thing here is that they never mention anything about them and then just casually meet them, it just feels convenient for the plot whenever they feel like it.
Can't ignore the fact that there's like 5 plots in a single book, it's like the authors couldn't pick one and then just didn't pick at all. You got the ex, you got the hunters, you got the serial killer, you got her powers, you got her family, you got the fae, you got ghost, you got the town hating her, you got her two males. Seriously there's soooo much happening. And there's no finality, they just keep being added on top of each other.
This is also the most dysfunctional HR I've read, the guys hate each other and hate sharing. And she just completely ignore their personal feelings and forces them to accept whatever she wants (while simultaneously stating she's better than their ex that played them, excuse me you're the same).
Honestly the more I read the least I like the characters, specially the MC (I thought she was nice first and now I'm just whatever).
Anyway, this started good then got progressively worst and I'm not in the mood to waste my time reading something that just isn't doing it for me.
This series has started my new year with nothing but frustration. I read all four of the available books in two days purely out of spite. They have no individual plot, and by the third book my brain had started actually throbbing with the struggle to remember all the questions waiting to be answered from book one.
I would change my 2.5-3 spice rating for the first two books to a solid 3 for this one.
***Spoilers***
After two books of impending doom from the fated mate it is disappointing to have his involvement in this book so little and even more so that he's still alive by the end of the book.
Not only do we not get closure on what she is, why she was rejected, or the death of her mate, but we also get the bomb of she's adopted and guess what? There's ghosts now too that only she can magically see.
The heat scene in the car, which was obviously misquoted on the tik tok that even led me to this god-forsaken series, was actually off-putting by the poor timing and way the writers handled the situation they created for themselves.
They return to Amarok and after a weak mention of increasing patrols, Wilder dumps her off at Daxon's murder cabin for his turn to welcome her home despite having been recently beaten by a fully functional werewolf.
37% in to book 3 and you're still waiting for even a hint of what this adopted, glittery white minx that has some strange emotional ability, advanced healing, and a wolf that breaks curses even is when, OH LOOK FAERIES!
Arcadia, the Afterlife Arsenist, is here to once again create problems that seem to have little to no effect on the actual plot.
More unexplained murders, half expecting that the writers are going to pin it on Daxon to take the pressure of selecting a mate off of the FMC when surprise it ends on another cliffhanger with Daxon and a side character in his torture chamber.
It's easy to be unpredictable when it's so nonsensical. Miyu was way to forgiving about Daxon LITERALY MURDERING HER WEDDING GUESTS and now she's a widow.
I can't even deal with this series. The writing itself was decent, but the "plot" is just chaos.
Things are getting even crazier, and I hope that all of the disjointed plot points come together and soon. I am not uninterested, but it's just a lot happening in 200+ pages. This one starts off with Rune back with her evil fated mater, and Daxon literally going feral and Wilder going crazy to find her. Rune nearly gets her eyeball taken out in revenge (literally an eye for an eye), and Allistair does brand her so that she can shift again. He also reveals that he killed Nelly, the shifter who helped her escape. Her mom returns in the nick of time because she finally feels bad for just dropping off Rune off to Allistair. She sacrifices herself and reveals the obvious--Rune was adopted.
Then a bunch of weird things happen. Rune finds out she can see dead people and shoot some sort of magic out of her hands, and she also overcame the new brand. Wilder eventually finds her, but as they are trying to escape, her smell changes which leads hunters (half vampire and half wolf shifters) who are pretty hard to kill. They escape, and there is a weird reunion with Daxon who has finally revealed his true colors to everyone. They quickly take Rune to the apparent fae queen, Daria, who is Wilder's ex. They strike a bargain to get Rune's scent hidden, but somehow hunters are still coming to kill Rune. There is weirdly no mention of Allistair in this book after they escape even though they are literally right back where he found her. Even while Rune is being hunted, Arcadia who was killed by Daxon and Wilder has returned in ghost form but can apparently still touch things. She locks Rune inside Wilder's place and tries to burn them down.
In addition to all of that, Wilder leaves Rune because he says he is over the whole sharing thing. It's clear later that this has something to do with Daria. Rune walks in on Daxon killing Rae, and she quickly tries to turn on him until he explains that Rae was the mysterious serial killer. For whatever reason, Rune acts surprised even thought knew Daxon was an unhinged serial killer. Miyu turns on Rune while she is grieving, and Rune continues chatting with ghosts.
So I assumed from the first book that this series would be only about Rune escaping her abusive ex Alpha and finding her powers and new love but now we seem to have a few more issues involved which in fairness does keep you interested, as you are pulled in different directions plot wise.
Now we have Rune running from her ex, not understanding her powers and who she is, ghosts appearing and sometimes helping but most times not, Hybrid hunters trying to capture or murder Rune for some reason (her scent or because of Alistair, finding out her Mother isn’t her mother, Wilder and Daxon coming together but still trying to win her heart, North going a bit mad, Rae being weird and now in Daxons basement, Wilder is caught with Daria (I’m guessing this is her ‘favour’) and a serial killer who may or may not be a wolf… i am hoping that all of these things will merge together to make sense in the next 2 books, otherwise the author just seems to have put together too many plot lines that are running alongside one another.
There was a lot of drama in this book and I was expecting a three way relationship to have happened by now, but I totally understand why this hasn’t happened because they are both Alphas and wolves don’t share, especially Alpha wolves. Will be interesting to see who she ends up with, at this point maybe she should just be alone. I like Rune don’t get me wrong but they all really need to sit down and talk about this shit. Wilder goes mental when he catches Daxon and Rune having sex but he knows they are so I’m not sure why he is so pissed off. Daxon seems more together even though he is a psychopath but now it looks like all this is about to come crashing down after Rune sees him in the basement because she thinks he is also cheating on her.
There are a lot of unanswered questions, so I will read on but I hope we start getting answers soon, rather than more issues and plot twists as there are already too many going on.
I swear i remember writing this review after reading the book but i guess it must not have saved. This review is going to be hard because now i can’t remember what happened in this book because I’ve already read the next book. 🙃
Anyways this book started with Rune fighting for her life with her ex who abducted her. She is taken to his place back in chicago and he starts to torment her all over again. She losses all hope but then right before he starts torturing her their is a distraction made by her mother who comes in and saves her. She helps her get away but not before telling her that she isn’t actually her mother and that she was just dropped off at her doorstep. Anyway she gets way with this driver who was hired by her mother. She gets the this bar and tries to call for help but the guy attacks her after she insults him. That’s when she finds out she can shoot magic out of her hands. She knocks him down and she calls Wilder to come get her. He comes to get her and she immediately goes into an insane heat, everyone around her even the humans can smell her and are affected. They rush back to home all while they are getting following and tracked by shifter hunters. They spend most of the book defending against the shifter hunters and the serial killer in the woods. They go to the fae queen to help mask her scent so they can function without wanting to tear their clothes off eachother none stop. She makes Wilder agree to a favor to for a later time. They leave and go back to town for only wilder to decide he can’t share anymore and leaves her. After he leaves her she runs to Daxon and finds that he has Rae trapped in his basement and is torturing him.
