Wow!

What an adventure! Final Clearance is a quick, easy read, is humorous at times, and will leave you flipping the pages quickly. Can a serial killer be a good person? You'll find yourself asking that question numerous times and perhaps even questioning your own morality. Recommend.

Brody is over it. He’s tired of rude customers and completely done playing nice. When one final rude comment pushes him too far, he decides it’s time to flip the script. What starts as a quiet fantasy quickly turns into something much more real.

Set in Louisville, Kentucky, Final Clearance takes us on a ride full of dark humor, retail rage, and unexpected twists. This is a story that speaks to anyone who’s ever dreamed of getting the last word.

This one was a total five-star read for me. Mick Williams just nails it. His writing is fast, sharp, and has this cool mix that works so well together.

The setup? Absolutely every retail worker’s dream. Watching Brody go from quiet frustration to full-blown revenge mode was kind of therapeutic. You really get to live through him. I kept thinking, “Yep, been there.”

And the Louisville setting? Loved it. It’s my hometown, so seeing familiar spots pop up in the story was such a treat. It made everything feel real, like this could seriously happen next door.

There’s this Scooby Doo reference that caught me off guard in the best way. I cackled so hard. It totally added levity to the scene.

What I respect most is how Mick Williams keeps control of the story. It gets intense but never loses its focus. The pacing stays tight. Even when things get wild, it always feels smart. If you're into books that mix a little madness with a whole lot of clever, this one’s for you.

The Vibes it Brings:
🛒 Retail worker fantasy
🤣 Dark comedy moments
📍 Local Louisville flavor
💥 Just the right amount of chaos
😈 Revenge that feels justified
🔍 Twisty and unpredictable
📢 Snarky and sharp dialogue
🔪 Vigilante undertones
🐾 Random Scooby Doo love
🎯 Writing that keeps you locked in

Final Clearance is a bold story. It’s intense. It’s twisty. It’s way too relatable if you’ve ever worked retail. This book gave me everything I didn’t know I needed. Mick Williams knows how to take an everyday moment and twist it into something unforgettable. If you want a story that feels personal, smart, and just a little unhinged, pick this one up.

A Guy Walks Into A Bar. - I enjoy reading books by this talented author. I tried to finish this book in one sitting but, alas, 0300 hours knocked me out. Funny. Interesting. Intriguing. Well written with well thought out story lines and a group of characters that are characters. All the good guys were likeable and easy to root for and the baddies were easy to hate, and admire their professionalism. I enjoyed finding out about the different types of drones and sure could use one of the loaded for bear ones in my backyard. Entertaining and realistic. 5*

Callie's Eyes - My first read by this author. The second time, I had the pleasure to read this book in paperback, which is still the only way to read, in print. This story is an awesome read. Full of various elements that add depth and give the reader material to think about while reading intense story lines about well developed characters. Callie is a mature, giving 13-year-old instead of the typical whiny, self-centered youth so common today. She is blind and has visions of horrors to come. There are bad guys, the government, Christians and non-Christians among other elements that affect her family's problems in doing the right thing. I have read this book twice, a rarity these recent years, and found the first read just as immersing as the first. 5*

Exodus: The Old Farts Club, #1 - I had the pleasure of reading this in paperback, which I know enhanced this fun and exciting story. Try gripping a Kindle, twisting its pages and flipping back and forth as the story grabs you. Similar to the difference of seeing Die Hard in a theater for the first time compared to watching it at home alone. The characters range in personalities, skills and opinions, but they are one unit, one team, brothers; even the British dude. Realistic, no Rambos here, just men doing the right thing. The story lines are interesting and immersing making the book hard to put down. I read this in one day, it is that entertaining. The support characters are good and even their own bits added more depth. Of course, a bit of British cuisine made its appearance, which I found funny since the names of these dishes, and some ingredients, can repel the American palate. There are a couple of unexpected happenings that surprised me, usually I know what to expect; read as much as I do, and have, and there are rare surprises. 5*

Final Clearance - My second book by this author and I enjoyed it, too. Funny how things work out for some people. Told in first person, the story hits highs and lows as well as love and humor. A killer with a conscience and morals, go figure. Good characters, great story lines, clean dialog and humor made this one sitting read. 4*

Final Clearance is another excellent read by Mick Williams. I always know I’m in for a treat when I get to read one of his books and it was an even bigger treat to be able to read this book in advance of publication.
Brody Coulson works in a furniture shop, selling sofa’s and the like. When an extremely difficult, obnoxious customer visits the store shouting in Brody’s face about not being given the correct choice of potential colours for the sofa he recently purchased, Brody sees red and changes his life forever.
Now, Brody isn’t your typical murderer, whatever one of them is! I couldn’t help but like him. He proper cracked me up! This is an immensely entertaining read. I thoroughly enjoyed every single page.
When Brody’s neighbour goes missing, he takes on the responsibility of minding her 10-year-old son, Javier, until she is found. Javier is used to Brody as he sometimes hangs out at his place anyway, if his Mom isn’t home from work before he gets in from school. I love the relationship Brody and Javier share. It’s quite sweet. Considering everything else that’s going on in his life, Brody is determined to be there for Javier. However, things are far more complicated, and dangerous, than Brody could have ever imagined.
Brody kind of reminds me of a very amateur Dexter. I couldn’t help but like him either. He is much more amusing than Dexter though. (There are many a laugh out loud moment throughout this book.) They have the same morals in the sense that they only do away with bad guys (not that murder of any kind is acceptable of course!). No innocents though. Not on purpose anyway!
Brilliant characters, fast paced, violent but full of dark humour, friendship and a little bit of romance. I loved it!
I highly recommend!

Mick Williams is one of my favourite authors. His books are different in a brilliant way. Lots of action, a bit of romance and, of course, dark humour. I always think they would make a blockbuster movie and this one is no exception.
Brody works in a furniture shop. He has an awkward sofa customer who is very rude to him. Brody takes him to the warehouse storage area and shows him the sofa in another choice of fabric. Brody decides his only choice is to do away with this poor excuse of a human. Even though a murder is committed, it feels justified and you are on Brody’s side. Brody has feelings to rid the world of obnoxious people. Will he go through with these feelings?
After work he finds his neighbour’s son, Javier, sitting outside his apartment. His mum, Mrs G, hasn’t picked him up from the school bus.
Brody and Javier have always got along well, as sometimes Brody looks after him if Mrs G is working late. The police allow Javier to stay at Brody’s apartment until Mrs G comes home. Brody is suspicious about a man he saw earlier at Mrs G’s door and takes it upon himself to find out what’s happened. It turns out to be quite a dangerous thing!
Even though the book has some dark topics, with murders, it is written in a darkly funny way that really did have me laughing. There are some touching moments too, especially the relationship between Brody and Javier, which this author writes so well.
I like the characters from the furniture store, and I’m sure many people who have worked in retail will relate to them. I liked the way he fancied the female police officers too!
A fast-paced book which will appeal to readers of all genres. I loved it and highly recommend.

I've read several books from this author and it never fails to amaze me how versatile he is! Is there any genre that Mick Williams cannot master? For this reason alone he is an author worth checking out as he really does have something for everyone. This story is written in the first person POV and the protagonist is Brody, a likable young man and a character I immediately had empathy for. This is despite the fact he quite happily murders an obnoxious customer who rubs him the wrong way in the furniture store Brody works in. Brody has to dispose of the body and throw the police and his vile boss off the scent, and if that wasn't enough to contend with he then finds out his neighbour Mrs G is missing. He has a good relationship with her and her 10-year-old son Javier, so ends up taking the boy in while trying to find out what happened to his mother. This storyline interweaves expertly with Brody's own murderous desires, and you soon have a real page turner on the go, one that is peppered with dark humour. You can't help liking Brody and rooting for him to succeed! A brilliant read I thoroughly enjoyed. I can't wait to see what Mick Williams comes up with next!

A different kind of story with an oddly likable main character, even though he murdered 3 people. To be fair though, the second was kind of a mistake. Oops. Anyone who has worked retail, or any job involving the public, will recognize the feeling of just wanting them all to disappear. One day Brody, a furniture and appliance salesman, has had enough. Before he has a chance to realize that maybe he shouldn’t act on his murderous impulse, his obnoxious, self important customer is dead. Think Dexter, ridding the world of those that are such awful people they deserve to die. I couldn’t imagine how this could turn out well and definitely had to finish in one sitting.

Picked up this book from a meet-and-greet book fair from the author, and I’m so glad I did! This book is based in Louisville, KY, which I loved since I’m from here. I was able to truly imagine exactly what was described and got a great kick out of certain descriptions of Louisville, especially the Ohio River — IYKYK.

This book follows Brody, a quirky 28-year-old who is a furniture salesman. He commits murder right off the bat, and it just gets better. He really digs into those intrusive thoughts we all get from time to time, and it’s intriguing to read a book about a character you have mixed feelings about.

I recommend this book, especially if you live in the Louisville area!

Brody is a good guy. He is working for a boss he hates in a dead end job. He has to deal with obnoxious customers in addition to being humiliated in front of other staff. He takes on responsibility for a 10 year old boy when there is an incident involving his single parent neighbour. The only problem is that Brody is also a murderer. The book is fast paced and well written with the main character having a sense of humour, despite his illegal activities. This is the first book I've read from this author but am ready to read another. Thoroughly enjoyable.

I really liked the main characters in this book and loved the dynamics between Brody and Javier. The way the author describes a violent action, and then brings in some sweet, funny parts into the story, is a definite skill. The story flows beautifully, and I love the way the author makes you root for a character who does bad things. I have 2 more books from this author lined up and I look forward to reading them.

I've read everything else Mick has written, and thought I knew what I was getting into. Nope! While it may feel like it drags a bit sometimes, it's subtle backstory that is truly going on. Pay attention to everything. Just when you think you know what is happening, Mick turns it around. Great action.

Good read

Although the book does have a customer murdered, it's so much more than that! The name is very misleading. It's reminiscent of Dexter- is the MC good, does he have a conscious or morals? The only thing I felt was missing was backstory on the girlfriend... I felt it was hinted at several times, but never explained.. I did enjoy this story

Pretty darn good yarn. The plot is a little thin but the characters make up for it. Lots of dark humor.

Brilliantly imaginative story from Mick Williams. The tale.of Brody a man who finally snaps during his job in retail with ungrateful moaning customers. The spiral of events from that moment is thoroughly entertaining and keeps moving forward at a fast pace. Even though you shouldn't like the main character you cannot help but hope he gets away with his misdeeds... does he? Well no spoilers from me. Enjoyed the read thoroughly. Great job from the author.
