A wonderful middle-grade series that can be enjoyed by children and adults.

Bird watching to me is like stargazing. In the beginning, we can't see any stars then we see one, ten, or many. Birds are the same. Then I see one, more, all different colors, all different sounds. Clairs connection with the birds is deeper than ours and she will fight for their safety.

In this volume we Clair gets a quest. She still has a lot of sel-doubt and needs to find her confidence, but that doesn't stop her from trying to find the woodpecker.

I love that the author doesn't maje Claire perfect, sometimes she annoys others and is a brat.

Clair gets news from her family in Ireland. I'm already excited with the possibilty of the third being in Ireland.

I learned a great lesson from this volume is that mean people are not (insert insult here) they are often just misguided people. My favorite chapter was number 17 where the spiritual essence of this series highlights this volume.
