1943. Following their victory in Tunisia, the Allies set their sights on Sicily.
Thousands of men land in a daring night time assault, the Allied soldiers storming the beaches in the face of a terrific storm.
As the British push inland, they find the road north blocked by an enemy determined to turn Sicily into a killing ground.
If the advance is to continue, a key bridge across the Simeto river has to be taken.
The British launch a bold airborne assault to seize the crossing, however, disaster strikes and only a handful of men are able to make it to the bridge.
A deadly race ensues as the ground forces fight to reach the river, before the men holding the bridge are destroyed.
Jack and his section, after days of vicious fighting, are thrown into the battle for the bridge, the men finding themselves facing the elite German Fallschirmjager in a deadly contest of life and death.
For Jack, it will be a nightmare struggle beneath the Sicilian sun as he faces his fears in the fight for the Devil’s Bridge.
Stuart Minor was born and raised in the rural county of Shropshire. Before becoming a professional writer he worked in a number of different trades and countries, seeing the world and doing everything from labouring to management. He has a degree in history and has been writing full-time since 2014 when he published his first novel: The Call of War. Since then he has seen considerable success, his series of sixteen books set in the First World War receiving high acclaim.
Another outstanding novel by Stuart Minor once again . The fatigue of battle and all the ups and downs of Jack and his pals in the battle to gain the bridge is written with the realism that you are there with them . Again lack of communication leading to mix ups etc . Can't wait for the next story.
