The world has completely lost its mind. Not only is Briella Mae trying to pick up the pieces of her life, but she suddenly finds herself falling into some sort of nightmare named Oz while hanging out at Bullfrog Creek. She only wanted a new start. . . she didn’t realize she’d literally have to start anew.
Gillikin City seemed like the safest place to go in Oz but Breilla Mae soon learns why everyone fears the fluorescent metropolis. The Tin Man rules Gillikin with an iron axe, and he doesn’t take kindly to newcomers, especially when they look him in the eyes without fear. But Briella Mae has seen the devil, and the Tin Man ain’t him.
With worlds merging, chaos reigning, and true villains breaking loose, Briella finds herself with no option but to team up with the heartless Tin Man. Will she survive the coming storm without adding her heart to his collection?
Kendra Moreno is secretly a spy but when she’s not dealing in secrets and espionage, you can find her writing her latest adventure. She lives in Texas where the summer days will make you melt, and southern charm comes free with every meal. She’s a recovering Road Rager (kind of) and slowly overcoming her Star Wars addiction (nope!), and she definitely didn’t pass on her addiction to her son (she did). She has one hellhound named Mayhem who got tired of guarding the Gates of Hell and now guards her home against monsters. She’s a geek, a mother, a scuba diver, a tyrannosaurus rex, and a wordsmith who sometimes switches out her pen for a sword.
If you see Kendra on the streets, don’t worry: you can distract her with talks about Kylo Ren or Loki. #LokiLives #BringBackBenSolo

I have read a lot of books in this string of different series that all tie together. I've loved them. And I loved this one. Except there were some things that I just didn't enjoy as much. There wasn't instalove exactly, but the love was definitely too rushed for my liking.
The MC was fierce and took no BS for sure. But still, she was a little too abrasive in the face of possible death. I mean, her senses seemed completely out of whack. I love the world and the setup for the upcoming books, but the love story was lacking for me.
The idea of the Wizard of Oz as an adult romance book really intrigued me then when I started reading and saw who Tin was in this book I loved the idea and got sucked right into this book. I did have a few confused moments till I started to wonder if other series were merging with this one, I looked and realized that yes I was missing information because I hadn't read the other series. This wasn't huge but was something that gave me pause for a moment. I can't wait to read book two and three in this series. And I'm quite sure I will be going back to read the other series as well. It was great to have something new to read that was so different. Honestly this book could have been even longer because I enjoyed it so much and wasn't ready for it to end.
*bit of advice: read "Sons of Wonderland" and "Daughters of Wonderland" first!"
Briella Mae is getting ready for Fashion Week when her life gets twisted .. so an impromptu trip back home to see her BFF and dad turns into an escape Briella isn't sure she wants, and Tin accepts the challenge
Oh I loved this one!!! Ok so this is the first book in Kendras new series The Heirs of Oz. Definitely should read Sons of Wonderland and Daughters of Neverland before starting this one. Mainly so you know what is going on as previous characters are also in this story and so you know the whole back story. Besides why would you want to skip them. They are so good. Loved this story about the Tin Man. I was so surprised to see someone from the previous series that I so didn’t expect. No spoilers here so I can’t say the name. But let’s just say I was jumping for joy. Phenomenal storyline. Like Kendra Moreno I love your imagination. These are my favorite books of all time. I am counting down till the next Heir of Oz book. I’m becoming obsessed. Highly recommend reading.
This isn't bad. It is a fast read. I'm finding I get very annoyed when the female lead is so "feisty" pointlessly. I understand trying to do that Alpha (and repeatedly refer to herself as an alpha) "I don't need no man", "try me," type thing but I think at this point it's just not necessary. Especially when you're trying to make the main guy seem very dangerous. So when I see this girl randomly talking back to this dangerous guy she just meets... It's been done so much.
This book was an epic way to start the Oz series! I totally got a "Steam Punk", somewhat futuristic vibe from what we once knew as Oz. The descriptions of Gillikin City are amazing. I could close my eyes and picture it.
Briella Mae - strong, overcomer, adventurous, caring, loving, a spitfire. I really loved this character. She is independent, but knows when to reach out for help. She is not afraid to stand up for herself and others. Her love for her dad and best friend are evident throughout the book.
Tin - man, he drips of strength, passion, danger and more. I was really drawn to his character. He is not the Tin Man that I grew up reading about and watching in the movies.
We get to meet a new character- one that we know, but didn't expect to see him in this series. It felt right for this character to be mixed up in this world and I can't wait to see how his character expands and the role that he has to play.
I had goosebumps during a few chapters. I found myself shouting "Nooooo!!!!" at Briella during on scene. Then, the big surprise- didn't see this part coming, but so excited that it happened!!! As the worlds merge, we are reacquainted with the characters from the first 8 books.
So this book worked for me in large part because of Briella Mae, who I was seriously crushing on during the entire story. I will forever fangirl over strong, badass women who know their own minds and refuse to let others dictate their lives and behaviors, or intimidate them.
As for everything else in the story, my feelings were a little more mixed. I never fully warmed up to the ML, because honestly he's a remorseless killer regardless of whether he has a heart or not, and it's clear he's never going to change his ways. He also spent a lot of time during the story trying to intimidate and push around the FL, and while she didn't put up with any of it (and put him in his place every time) I didn't like that he tried it with her at all.
The setting of the story was unique and interesting, but it also felt pretty grim and depressing. And after the last couple of years I struggle more with really getting into, and staying engaged with, these types of depressing worlds and settings.
First off, I should get better at reading descriptions as Kendra Moreno has created a MCU-level connected universe of dark adult fairytale rewrites and I started at the very end. Appreciate the level of dedication and the excuse to reread this.
That being said, this book honestly had no right to be as good as it was. Maybe it's just my addiction to dark fairytale rewrites or my penchant for falling for "villainous" characters with a "touch her and you die" trope but this book was so freaking good! I wish I was home alone when I was reading it so I could properly scream and squeal but either way, I am addicted to this book!
The writing is great and the spicy scenes are just *chef's kiss*. It was the perfect way to twist a story we all know and love into something someone like me can fall in love with. If all her other books are like this, I am more than happy to invest my time into this connected universe. Either way, I've already got another of her books and I cannot wait to start reading it.
This is the 3rd series in this interwoven world Kendra Moreno has written. As a warning without the Sons of Wonderland and the Daughters of Neverland you won't understand the Heirs of Oz, don't be sad you want to get to know my man White (I licked and claimed him so he's mine!) and dive into this world.
We start basically where we left of with Croc in Oz. The Heartless Tin man is ruthless and kills to feed the yellow brick road and is the villain of this story. Briella Mae is the broken human who was getting sucked into Oz and learned about herself in this brutal bloody world. Although it's an amazing love story the storytelling is even better! Kendra writes so you'll never want to stop reading and when the book is finished you just don't know what to do with yourself.
Get ready to visit Oz keep your heart safe. Coming to you on March 26th
He is back!! He is back, he is back, he is back!! There are so many awesome things happening in this book but somehow all I can do is run around screaming that he is back, lol. With the merging of the worlds many things are ending up on Oz, including the awesome Brielle! She is only human but so badass that the Tin man can´t resist her. I loved seen how their relationship grew and how she got under his skin even with him being heartless. And finally the whole group is merging in the same world, I love seeing old friends. It will be interesting to see what happens when her dad meets lobo, something tells me he has a bigger role to play than we think and of course... What did Rumple do now??? Can't wait for the next book!!!
I love the world building in Oz, just like I loved it in Wonderland. (I only read the first one in the Neverland series). <----I will revisit those here soon hopefully so that the blanks in the plot get filled in, but even without reading those I know enough to guess what is happening without feeling too lost.
I LOVED getting a glimpse of Hatter and Clara, such a cute moment.
Probably would have been 5 stars if I liked Briella just a bit more. I didn't dislike her, I just felt some mild frustration with her combative attitude at times. Again not enough to dislike her, I just would have liked her more if we toned the alpha female vibes down just a bit.
Its pure awesomeness!!! Its a fantastic story and retelling like no other! Forget what you know and enter this bloody-wicked but yet fun-dark-twisted retelling that will rock your world!!! Tin definitely had my Heart 🫀. Must read!! ( I suggest reading first Sons of Wonderland, then Daughters of Neverland series to fully enjoy this new retelling) World’s are colliding and im all in! Bring on The Scarecrow 😈. #BewareOfTheYellowBrickRoad#HeirsOfOz
This intro into Oz was amazing! I love the way Kendra Moreno changes the fairy tale characters I knew and made them into new characters. You have Tin who has given up his heart to save his people, And a beautiful strong woman who wants to claim it anyways. I really enjoyed getting to know Briella Mae and Tin, I am anxiously awaiting the rest of this series, but dreading when it ends.
Wasn’t really expecting it to be like that but I actually liked it. Loved how they included every fairytale as a world however, at the end, it started to become really confusing. Who’s Clara Bee? Who’s Jupiter? Who’s White? They may be characters I know but I’m sure that they can change names for different countries/ languages & I don’t think the author thought about that.
Wonderful as usual!!! I'm completely in love with this author's writing, and the way she turns classical "fairy tales" into this kind of masterpieces....Just love it ❤️ Congratulations Kendra Moreno!!! Keep doing it ❤️ And the cover ... OMG 🔥🔥🔥
This is an interesting take on the Wizard Of Oz. I haven't read too many Oz retellings, but this one was really good! I didn't know I could get sucked into this world with the Tin Man looking for love, but here we are. If you're a fan of Oz and need something different check this series out.
Moreno’s plot is a convergence of: PeterPan, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. It should be noted that two of three titles are Public Domain. It reminds me of: 10th Kingdom and Once Upon a time
I love these books they get better and better as you go I started in wonderland then went to never land now I'm in oz can't wait to see what happens next!
If I could give this 10 stars I definitely would! As expected this wonderful author pulled out another home run. I just love all of her books & this one was no different. Her unique take on these beloved stories never disappoints. Briella Mae & Tin's story is now one of my all time favorites! I can't wait to continue down the yellow brick road with this awesome crew(Cupid & Grimal included)!
