Baby-sitter Blues

Ashley can't wait to go back to school. The new school year means shopping for new clothes, meeting boys...shopping for more new clothes! Her twin sister, Mary-Kate, thinks she's crazy. Mary-Kate would much rather hit a softball than hit the mega-mall. But they do agree on one thing:

They're way too old for a baby-sitter!

Too bad their dad doesn't see it the same way. Now the twins need a plan--a plan to show Dad just how right they are!

Look inside for our photo scrapbook from the show!

A small, simple and fluffy book, It's A Twin Thing is the first book in the "Two of a Kind" series of Mary-Kate and Ashley Burke. Set right in the beginning of their seventh grade, the book is all about kids growing up and their dad not being able to accept this new age. The story starts on their last day of summer vacation, the night their dad announces that he would like to hire a baby-sitter for them since he will be having evening classes as well. This ruins their mood because they believe they are too old for a sitter. That is, until they find the perfect one.

This new sitter is everything they wished their mom was like. She is like an older sister that they never had. But sadly, she is also someone their dad doesn't like. How will they convince him to let her stay then? How easy will it be?

Short and fluffy, this book kept me engaged throughout the time I read it. In a way, it reminded me of the time when I was a huge Mary-Kate and Ashley Burke fan. The writing style was as a middle grade fiction would be like. Plus, it kept the book moving. Like all the Full House books and Mary-Kate and Ashley books, this was also another book in which the twins learn a lesson. I guess, in a way, the entire book is equal to one episode (since that is how all the Full House episodes really are).

Overall, I quite enjoyed reading it and I hope to be reading more of these books soon (and reminiscing the time I spent going over them as a kid).

"It's a Twin Thing" is book 1 in the Two of a Kind series.
The school year is getting ready to start up for twin sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley Burke. Ashley is excited about school starting up. She can't wait for all the back to school shopping and she's also pretty excited about meeting new boys at school. Mary-Kate on the other hand is quite different from her sister and could care less about boys and new clothes. She's much more interested in sports.
Although I thought that the girls in this book were a bit young to be that boy crazy, I still thought it was a fun book that pre-teen girls can enjoy.

I was a huge Mary-Kate and Ashley fan growing up.

The book had solid moments, yet it was extremely unrealistic in other moments. It was good, but not great. (That is my honest opinion after taking out my biased love of the Olsen twins and their tv shows/movies.)

I am a big fan of "two of a kind" series. I love the simple preteen life that they have. Watching a serious growing up was everything. I always wanted to look just like them. I find after all these years I still truly "enjoy to a kind."

I was really into this series as a kid and was trying so very hard to collect them all. I finally got the last book I needed in 2022, and am just now starting to read them.
I don’t really have much to say about this one. It’s short, it’s fun, and it’s a good opener for the series.

Never seen the tv series it’s based on, so I can’t really say how the book is compared to the show.
Easy reading, and it was quite cozy and fun to read it! And it now makes me wish that there was a way to actually see the tv series 🌼

Very good for the age group it was for. Actually, as a 20-year-old, I still found it really entertaining. What a throwback!

I don’t know why Goodreads just put this book on my front page, but it instantly brought back so many good memories! I loved these books and I’m sad I no longer have them.
