Aghhh I WANTED MORE! I wish this wasn't so short. This is a messed up, bully romance between Hope and Land. Hope is a beautiful albino girl that is the daughter of the town police chief. Land is the extremely handsome boy whose family is shrouded in mystery and who decides to bully Hope and call her "White Rabbit." As a result, Hope decides to investigate their family and become a journalist to expose their secrets (namely the mystery of their fancy Halloween parties and how someone goes missing every time). Land thinks Hope is an innocent, pure prey, and is off limits. However, Hope is a lot darker than she seems, and knows they belong perfectly together.
This story was so messed up and hot. Land thought he was keeping Hope safe from the insanity, but actually Hope knew and was resentful that he was denying themselves. I love how possessive Land was of Hope - he kept any possible rivals away from his white rabbit, even murdering and torturing a teacher that had been eyeing her. I wish we had more stories about his psycho family. His dad and mom sound like they have a very hot and messed up story.
Como relato esta bien, pero me hubiera gustado un libro completo sobre esta historia. La trama es interesante y saber más de los protagonistas, su desarrollo y los padres de Land sería genial.
White Rabbit by K Webster is an incredibly short story tagged as a high-school bully romance. But the amount of storytelling and intrigue packed into this tiny story makes it so much more. I don't know how to classify it.
"She's a beautiful white moth fluttering all around and I'm the inferno from hell. I. Will. Burn. Her."
I had zero expectations for this and admittedly only picked it up because of it's length... I'm behind on my reading goal.
But colour me impressed! Webster's writing is beautiful and captivating, and the length of this proves that she is an efficient and skilled writer. I loved the main female character and would love to read more that includes her!
This was definitely a great first experience with Webster; I'm so intrigued and will absolutely read more from her.
K Webster posted about this and a few of her other books on Instagram recently. I grabbed them up because I enjoy a dark romance here and there; and hey, they were free. KW has written some deliciously dark stuff so I figured I might like this one. I didn’t realize they were so short. Goodreads doesn’t have a page count for this book, but it took me less and an hour to read.
My only complaint about this was that it was WAY too short. I wanted more between Hope and Land. There’s a link to Land’s father’s book at the end of this, so I think I’m going to grab that. 😈
Hope has been tormented by Land for years. Now she's at one of his parties and she plans on getting answers. Land didnt want her here, but now that she is, he won't let her go.
Land and Hope are perfect. They're both psychotic in their own right and they work well together. The steam they share is decent, and I wanted more of it. The ending was fun and gave way to a darker story for the family.
I just have to say…sometimes diving into a story completely blind is the best thing you could ever do for yourself. White Rabbit is an enticing dark bully romance novelette from new-to-me author K Webster, and what an introduction it has been! Not only has this short story left me begging for more of this world, but also piqued my interest in the rest of her works, which I will absolutely be digging deeper into as soon as I’m able.
Hope, daughter of the local sheriff, and Land, son from a family of violent criminals, take center stage in this story of dichotomy. The latter has bullied the former for years upon years, making her life miserable any and every chance he gets. In an attempt to collect all the information to bring down the hammer of justice, Hope encroaches on Land’s family’s annual Halloween hunt…but what they hunt isn’t local fauna.
The inevitable triggers of this unlikely romance is Hope’s inability to deny her attraction to her tormentor and Land being unable to ignore his true desires any longer. When these two come together, it’s explosive, their chemistry undeniable. She’s always been his White Rabbit, but his prey is finally ready to join the hunt and prove to herself that she’s no longer the victim, but a predator just like him.
My only complaint with this book is that it’s too short! I would love to see where their relationship leads the two. I was thrilled to find out Land’s parents have their own story, and you just know I’ll be eating that up. Oh, and this is one of the many free short stories/novelettes Webster offers to give you a taste of what she has to offer, so there’s really no excuse not to give it a read. Really enjoyed this one and I’m ready for more!
The fact this is a short story is so frustrating! This was so good, if only it was a full novel because even in only a few short pages, this completely captivated me!
This short little story was a breath of fresh and sinister air. After a long hiatus, for no particular reason, 𝐾 𝑊𝑒𝑏𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑟 has sucked me right back into her web and I think I will stay awhile. Recently I’ve been scoping out K’s other books. She is dubbed the taboo queen and I am a SUCKER for banned books. I went down a figurative rabbit hole when I came across this gem of a short story, White Rabbit.
Hope, aka White Rabbit, calls to my inner demon. I want to be Hope when I grow up. She is the epitome of “don’t fuck with me.” She has revenge and unacknowledged lust on her mind when she crashes her bully’s Halloween party. She came ready to hunt, but will she become the prey?
I loved this. 🙌 Land and his family are pure evil. Apparently Land’s father, Gabe, appears in the 𝐿𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑊𝑎𝑟 series, and I am finally eager to start reading it. I’ve had that omnibus sitting on my shelf for over a year. I just hope it contains more glimpses of Land and Hope as well. I really needed more, but I was also surprised at how fantastic the writing was and the punch it packed in such a short story.
✨ Oh! AND it’s FREE to download on K Webster’s website! She offers several free ebooks, including the first book of 𝐿𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑊𝑎𝑟: 𝑇ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑖𝑠 𝑊𝑎𝑟, 𝐵𝑎𝑏𝑦. If you haven’t read 𝐾 𝑊𝑒𝑏𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑟 yet, go get some free ebooks to check out. She has a range of dark, taboo, and even MM. I’ll be jumping into the very taboo The Wild duet here soon. ✌️
“Hope tastes like candy corn and the step from good into evil. Hope’s a journey-one I won’t come back from. A turning point in my life.”
This was a short novella that I didn’t want to end. Land is the popular guy at school but has a mysterious and creepy family. He makes fun of Hope relentlessly trying to convey his hate for her but is that really how he feels? Hope is bullied and called White Rabbit because of her albinism. She is very curious about Land and his family and knows something bad is happening. When Land catches her sneaking around at his families party he can’t hold back anymore and his true feelings come out. This was a really fun, creepy, and sexy little story. I was left wanting more of their story and to see where things went after the end. I would definitely recommend this book to someone who enjoys short, dark, bully romances.
First and foremost I love Webster’s writing. I think this short story had a lot of potential but felt a bit rushed from about the halfway point. In my opinion it would have worked begged as a longer, more fleshed out story.
