Empath: A person with the paranormal ability to apprehend the mental or emotional state of another individual.
That’s what I am. I can feel emotions and so when I turn eighteen and start to feel this strong pull, I grab my best friend, hop in the car and follow it. It leads me deep into the forest to him.
Gunner Harding.
The alpha of the Red Ridge Pack and my mate.
I had no idea that shifters even existed but I can’t deny the strong connection that I feel to him.
With pack members who are less than welcoming and an old threat that resurfaces, will Gunner and I be able to find our happily ever after?
Bea and her best friend Camden are running away from a stalker who is after Camden, and Bea feels and dreams of someone so when she feels Gunner and helps him shes already sprung for him as for Gunner he was Injured by hunters now he is saved by his mate and hes already claimed her now alpha of his pack he makes sure everyone respects his mate.

I've been in a weird reading mood lately, so I've fallen into a reading binge of my comfort genre--shifter romance. This was an easy and steamy novella with low angst insta-love between Bea and Gunner. Two lonely and outcast souls find their sense of love and belonging in each other ♡
First things first; I like the cover of this book! Possessed by the alpha is the first book in the ‘’red ridge pack’’ collection. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. Possessed by the alpha is the first book of Skye Adler’s that I have read. I later found out that Skye Adler is a pen name for two authors I already love (Shaw Hart & Cameron Hart) I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. Bea is an empath that has been having dreams of a handsome man since she turned eighteen. When she decides to see if her dreams will become reality, she meets said man. Alpha wolf shifter, Gunner knows Bea is his mate as soon as he meets her. The chemistry between Gunnar and Bea is clear to see and I loved them together. I thought they were perfect for one another. I loved Bea’s friendship with Camden. I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love shifter romances! Skye Alder is the pen name of two of my favorite authors - Cameron Hart and Shaw Hart and their new shifter series - Red Ridge Pack is all kinds of growly shifter goodness!
Possessed By The Alpha is the first book and had me reading all the words in one late night sitting. Gunner is the pack’s Alpha leader. He is a wolf shifter and all kinds sexy goodness. Bea is an empath who on the day of her eighteenth birthday starts dreaming of a man who she is desperate to find. Fate brings these mates together and it is all kinds of sexy!
Possessed By The Alpha gets the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval. TBR and Enjoy!
This is an insta-love romance. I was hoping for more story. This is a short story right where girl meets fated mate, girl and boy have an insta love connection like most shifters have a mate. I wanted some side character development but I can understand why it was so quick since it is a short story.
It is entertaining but there's no plot, I can't believe they didn't even say hello or who are you and he marked her without permission after that nothing happens, I feel like there's something as way too much smut pretty much por without a plot.

First person present tense is a bit difficult for me when the characters are barely 18. There is no flow or tension to reading this, it's short choppy sentences that make it feel like I'm reading a grocery list.
3.5/5 stars Bea has aged out of the foster care system but her best friend Camden is still a few months shy but Bea is on a quest and Camden leaves her group home to follow her, especially since Camden has a stalker. Bea is an empath and has been dreaming of a man for a few months now, all she knows is she must go to him. The girls start hiking to Red Ridge, on the way the find a man who’s been shot. It turns out to be who Bea was dreaming of, Gunner is the alpha for his pack, in his wolf form he was shot by hunters. Laying there wounded, he smells Bea and knows she’s his fated mate and bites her. Bea and Camden help him back to his house where his beta, Malin has been waiting for him. Malin has a great distrust of humans so he is not impressed by the girls. Their dr is called and he helps bandage up Gunner. The next day they spend the day getting to know one another and getting to know the town and pack. The mating pull has started with them so Malin is asked to take Camden into town so she has a place to sleep. Bea and Gunners first time is sweet. The girls decide to go back to the town they had checked into a hotel at while Gunner is at a pack meeting. When they get to the hotel Camden’s stalker a foster kid arrives he terrorizes them until Gunner and Malin arrive to save them. Back home lots of loving and I love yous. Epilogues one month later with Bea pregnant, five years later with kids, 15 years later with more kids and one of their sons taking over as alpha. I sadly didn’t feel the connection between Bea and Gunner, maybe because there was time given to Camden and Malin. For fated mates they sure didn’t feel the connection, even though they established a connection earlier in the book. Maybe that was just Bea’s empath getting Gunner’s feeling. Like he should have felt her leaving their pack lands, he should have been able to sniff out her scent better.

I’ve commenced reading some of the free ebooks I got from special event on a romance book website. Most of the books I’d probably never read otherwise.
This book was a very short Novella. It has 88 pages and that includes all the pages that aren’t part of the story. So when I say short I mean it’s almost too short to bother with. It took me like 30 mins to read.
FMC and her friend decide to tromp through the woods because FMC feels a pull. She finds her mate. They mate and mate and mate. The end.
This book has an introduction, sex (not kinky sex) and an epilogue.
- 👀 POV: Dual, first person - 📖 Urban Fantasy - ❣️ Male/Female Romance - 🎱 Tropes: fated mates, abandoned by parents, death of parents - 🧁 FMC: barely 18 yo girl who lives in a group home. Bea has always felt as if she was different than everyone else. Abandoned by her parents because of this difference, she leaves the group home she is in with her best friend Camden by her side. She's chasing down a dream and a dream man in the wilds of Montana. Stumbling upon Gunner, the alpha of the Red Ridge Pack, after being injured the two connect almost immediately. Gunner leads the three of them home. He takes the time to show Bea and Camden around the town, introducing them to pack members along the way. While there is a minor dissention within the pack about a human being the alpha's mate, it isn't enough to keep Bea and Gunner from being together. Unfortunately, what could keep the two apart is a not so great blast from Bea and Camden's past rears his ugly head. Possessed by the Alpha is a great start for Shaw Hart and Cameron Hart writing as Skye Alder. It's got pieces of each of their writing styles in it. This is a great start to a new series of shifters and their fated mates. There is even an appearance from members of the Ash Pack by Shaw Hart. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the series shows us.
I was sent a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. Empath Bea and her best mate Camden are heading into the woods because Bea has the strongest feeling she HAS to go there. Once though the treeline they find a man leaning against a tree having been shot and bleeding profusely. Before Bea can do anything the man has grabbed her and bitten into her neck. The average person would be freaked out, but not Bea. She recognizes the man's eyes as belonging to a man she has been dreaming about. So starts a journey into the world of shifters for the two girls. Bea is barely eighteen but she and the man whose name is Gunner know that they are mates and they are now bound together for life. As they learn about each other the full moon arrives and both know that tonight things will be cemented deeper and more fully. I loved the story and have added Skye Alder to my list of favorite authors. I highly recommend this easy read and am now starting into book 2 of the series.
Romance genre: shifter Series: Red Ridge Pack Length: 88 pages
Plot: Bea, a newly eighteen year old empath, is being drawn to a man she's only seen in her dreams. She and her best friend start traveling and come across the injured Gunner, who is that man from her dreams. But he has a confession of his own: he's a shifter. He's willing to take care of his pretty human, though there might be some obstacles to their relationship.
Commentary: The story was okay, although I always have trouble with an 18 year old human who jumps in as the Luna/Alpha's mate to help manage the pack when she didn't even know what shifters were yesterday. However, the story was fun enough. I'd like to see more experienced or older characters in another installment to maybe change the dynamic of the intimate scenes - they were pretty standards, where I generally like these authors' scenes.
Well this was a surprise. To be honest I didn't expect much. I was just looking for something quick and easy and this shifter romance was short and seemed like it would do the trick.
The story started with a bang, with little to no preamble, but that didn't matter because I was instantly taken by the way Gunner was so obsessed with Bea. He constantly wanted to have her next to him, kissing her, and holding her. Just her presence made him calmer and happier. And possessive? Oh yeah.
Bea and Gunner were similar in that they were both used to putting aside their own feeling for the good of others. Finding one another, and having that understanding, they provided so much healing for each other.
And when Gunner told Bea how she was precious to him? I was done... a mushy pile of goo from all the swoon. :)
For what it was, this totally delivered and I'm sure I'll continue reading about the other members of the pack.
Insta love stories are soooo cheesy to me Even when its a fated mate trope This story was okay though. It was a good short read. Idk how the girls didn't freak out when they found Gunner and he bit Bea. I guess being an Empath helped Bea feel more comfortable with him but I'm surprised Camden didn't shit kick him to protect her friend. They also didn't freak out about the shifter thing even though they are human and never had any experience or heard of shifters before. They just blindly accepted like ' oh okay'
The whole no sex until you find your mate thing was soooo dumb. What if you go your whole life without finding your mate? No sex for your whole life - that sounds grossssss lmao
I guess in a way, it's sweet. It takes jealousy out of any relationship because ... you can't have sex so you probably wouldn't be sexually attracted to anyone either.
I don't believe I've read anything by Skye Alder before. However, going into this I was looking for a sweet, short paranormal romance that would take my mind off things. This book definitely hit the spot =) Bea grew up in the foster care system after being abandoned by her parents for her "freaky" abilities. As an empath, she was able to feel the mood in any room she walked in, and was also able to turn others moods as well (like calm or soothe if they are angry or anxious). After turning 18, Bea and her best friend Camden take off on an adventure chasing Bea's dream man in the wilds of Montana. When she stumbles on an injured man, both Bea and Gunnar know who the other is. While Bea may not be a shifter, she knows Gunnar is important to her and that's only reinforced when he marks her and the Mating Moon takes affect.
Possessed by the Alpha has all the sweetness and heart-pounding intensity of fated mates you could want! Bea has lived her whole life different. Her empathic ability left her abandoned by her parents and growing up in foster care. Recurring vivid dreams of a place that pulls at her soul, she sets out to find it. What she finds is a naked wounded man. Gunner is bleeding and not at his best but when his mate finds him in the meadow, he doesn't hesitate to stake his claim. These two compliment each other so well, loved how Bea really blossomed under the acceptance of her gift as normal and even welcomed. An awesome intro to a new series, I am over the moon that the rest of the books will release back to back! 5 stars for Gunner and Bea!
Bea and best friend Camden hike into the forest following the pull she feels and find a naked injured man. Bea is an empathic and when she turns eighteen she starts to feel a pull which gets stronger and has dreams of a green eyed man. Her best friend Camden she had found when she was abandoned to foster care as a teenager while Camden had been signed over as a baby so the two regarded each other as their only family. Bea was grateful that Camden agreed to go with her on a trip to see where the she was feeling would lead. They were hiking in thick forest and thinking of making camp when they come across a naked injured man but more shocking is when he call her mate and bites her.

Cameron Hart and Shaw Hart have joined their shifter genius to give us the new alter ego of Skye Alder. They did not miss with this book. We meet Bea and Gunner and in true form to the Hart's writing we get that instant love, alpha intense connection between these two. I loved their interactions, and how supportive Gunner is of Bea's empathic gift. There was not a single doubt in his mind that Bea is his mate, and it doesn't matter what any one else says. As Alpha of his pack, it doesn't matter anyways. His word is law. We get glimpses into the other characters from the upcoming books of this series, and book 2 is going to be a doozy because Malin does not like Camden. I can't wait to see where these two take us in the future with these books!
Possessed by The Alpha is the story of Gunner and Bea.
She leaves her foster home in search of the guy in her dreams and in the forest she finds him hurt and alone and he calls her his mate and bites her to which she knows is true due to her being an empath. They are mated and he finally claims her and she leaves one day to get her things from the hotel with Camden and Camdens stalker Brad catches onto them and basically tries to hurt them but not until Gunner catches up to them and is feral. He takes her out of there is completely ravenous and mad at the fear of losing her. He shows her who’s she is. So yh, they have 3 kids, Grant and Seth, to which Grant is Alpha now that his father has stepped down and then there’s Riley.
Gunner , Alpha of his pack meets Bea his mate when he’s hurt and alone, but instantly recognizes her as his mate. Bea is an empath always alone in the world because people just don’t understand her and think her too different to accept her as she is. When she come across Gunner she just knows that he’s hers and she’s his. The chemistry between them is explosive right down to the last page! We also get a glimpse into the next up in the Red Ridge series with a small crossover with the Ask Mountain series as well!❤️

Oh my gosh this book was soooo good! Bea and Gunner were so good together! Bea grew up in foster care after her parents couldn’t take her empath abilities anymore. Despite having to learn to hide her abilities Bea doesn’t let it get her down and dreams of going to a clearing. When she finally gets to the clearing and drags her best friend along she meets Gunner who is the alpha of the pack. They instantly know they are mates and while some are skeptical about Bea being an empath Gunner’s love never waivers. Short steamy and just oh so good!

Bea is an empath, who can feel and control others emotions. Since she’s turned 18, she’s been having strange dreams. Deciding to figure out what they mean she and her BFF, Camden, head off into the Montana wilderness. While hiking she feels a pull. The pull brings her to Gunner, the Alpha of Red Ridge. Their connection is instant and he knows she’s his mate.
What a great start to the Red Ridge Pack series! This is a short insta love story. I loved the little bit of cross over we got from the Ash Mountain pack. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

Bea knows she is different, and many don’t accept her for that reason. She is an empath who can sense the feelings of others. At the age of 18, she felt a very strong pull to find a man from her dreams. She and her friend, Camden, head out together and she finds an injured wolf shifter, Gunner Harding, the Alpha of the Red Ridge Pack. He knows she is his mate and they connect almost immediately.
Although some pack members don’t necessarily appreciate a human as an Alpha’s mate, the two of them are still drawn together. But will some threat from her past cause them a problem? Can Gunner and Bea find a happily ever after together?
Overall good story and interesting plot with hot sex. But the hero is a virgin right? He said that shifters can only have sex with their mates but nowhere in the book does he tell Bea that. That's how it was in the other shifter series she wrote, the heros didnt tell their mates that they are virgins. I dont understand why though. Its like she doesn't like the fact they can only feel desire for their mates but she wrote it like that so maybe not. I might just be over thinking it.
Just something I think should be addressed but it's a good book and I love dual virgin shifter books. They are my favorite books.
I really liked this short story. It was entertaining and enjoyable with a fated mates twist. The characters were interesting and likable with an exception. Camden was a wonderful friend to Bea. She was supportive but also protective and realistic. Bea had been dreaming about a man and decided to find him. Camden accompanied Bea on her search. Gunner was stunned when Bea came close to him and he realized that she was his. There was instalove and a touch of drama and angst. I loved their happily ever after. I recommend reading this book.
An amazing start to this new series. This is a new author for me and I couldn't put it down. This is the story of Bea and Gunner. Bea is a empath and she has been having dreams of a wolf. So she grabs her best friend and they are on a mission to find this wolf. When Gunner sees her for the first time he know she is his fated mate. Bea knows nothing about shifters. The story is fast paced, amazing chemistry between Bea and Gunner. Looking forward to read the next book.
I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Bea has not had an easy time because of her empath abilities. She has had a pull, dreams and a yearning to follow. This leads her to a world she could not have imagined. She has a mate and he is an alpha wolf shifter. This book was short but the characters were great. I am looking forward to the second book in the Red Ridge Pack series

When two grown girls emerge from the foster care system they take a hike in the forest. Since one has a stalker and hasn't turned 18 yet they seek not to be noticed. There are a couple of plot twists. I enjoyed the first pace and found the gaps between chapters toward the end provided enough information for the transition allowing 20 years to pass without becoming bogged down with the mundane. This is a part of a series that can be read as a stand alone story with a HEA ending. I would recommend it to lovers of the paranormal world.
I loved Bea and Gunner! They were so cute and amazing together. I loved how he embraced her ability and the vulnerability they both shared. The epilogues were wonderful, I loved finding out about their children. I can't wait to read the next book about Camden and Malin, their relationship seemed so interesting.
