Addicted to Kill

Rate this book
A serial killer is raping and strangling women in the east end of London, and due to the fact that he leaves a recognisable, highly individual signature at the scenes, it is obvious that he is leaving his mark, to let it be known to the authorities and the public at large that the crimes are being committed by the same perpetrator. Newly promoted DCI Matt Barnes of the Special Crimes Unit is given the case to investigate, because his squad was formed to primarily hunt down serial killers. Another young woman is murdered by the offender, who the press has tagged the East End Strangler, and Matt and the team know that they are on the clock, pitting their wits in a race against time to save more women from the fate that has befallen prior victims. The killer is game-playing with the SCU, making brief contact by using the dead women’s mobile phones to communicate and tell them the locations of the corpses. With no apparent intersection between the murdered women, and no obvious motive to lead the squad in any particular direction, all they can do is rely on meagre forensic trace evidence, and hope that the killer makes a mistake that will lead them to his door.

I write the type of original, action-packed, violent crime thrillers that I know I would enjoy reading if they were written by such authors as: Lee Child, David Baldacci, Harlan Coben, Michael Connelly and their ilk.
Over twenty years in the Prison Service proved great research into the minds of criminals, and especially into the dark world that serial killers - of who I have met quite a few - frequent.

I live in a cottage a mile from the nearest main road in the Yorkshire Wolds, enjoy photography, the wildlife, and of course creating new characters to place in dilemmas that my mind dreams up.

What makes a good read? Believable protagonists that you care about, set in a story that stirs all of your emotions.

If you like crime fiction, then I believe that 'Deadly Reprisal' and 'A Reacher Kind of Guy - Aftermath' will push all the right buttons for you.

Wow, wow and another wow!

Wow, another amazing read in the Matt Barnes series. I love Matt's ways of following his leads for his team. But he found it hard to get the leads on this case as he had very little to go on! Every murder sent shock waves down my body as they were so graphic, and realised just how much the victims must of suffered.!
Once again thank you to my favourite and looking so forward to the next book. No shocks next time Micheal for me! but it was a lovely gesture.

Another Kerr superlative

Michael Kerr writes excellent crime thrillers, the Matt Barnes series must rate amongst the best .
A serial killer is on the loose in London, can Barnes & team stop him before the list of victims gets too long.
A great read.
