Min Ji Wook, a student trapped in poverty, manages to get accepted into Daehan High School which is the premier high school for children from rich and affluent families. His main goal? Escape poverty by graduating high school with the best rank and entering a top university. To achieve this, he decides to focus on his studies but it's not an easy path when he meets: Joo Seung Eon, youngest son of Korea's largest conglomerate JS Group, who wounds Ji Wook's pride at any given chance. And Kwon Hyung Seo, eldest son of Ilkang Group, who treats Ji Wook with a kind facade but occasionally shows a vague mysteriousness.Ji Wook who's thrown into chaos by when both show their interest in him... will he be able to live the life he wants?
The MCs look like modern day Na-kyum & Seungho from Painter of the Night. Currently sitting on Chapter 26 and looking forward for the rest of the episodes.
I'm absolutely hooked on this series. The art reminds me a lot of Painter of the Night which is another one I love and it has sweet moments mixed in which is nice to have especially with it being a darker series. Also, Joo Sueng Eon is *chefs kiss* (SHOCKER) and I personally like him more as a character than Min Ji Wook even though they both have A LOT of problems they need to work through.
This story is also DARK and that comes with a lot of stuff that is controversial, but I understand it's all part of the story even though it may be uncomfortable at times. Overall, so far, it's five stars for me. The story is gripping, the characters are frustrating, and I can't seem to get enough of it.
The art is beautiful and yes, these two look exactly like two other characters in another series. That one is historical and this one is contemporary. Where that one seems more palatable because of the times and characters redeemable, this one is just toxic infinity. Both MCs are problematic and the plot is problematic. I just don't see where these two could forgive and move forward. Too much has happened already and I only see it getting worse especially because of how Season 1 ended.
This webtoon is so toxic. Although there is a bit of a plot, It's all ruined by the toxicity of their relationship. There is no communication, And HOW can people caution the fact that the protagonist is retained by the asshole, like litteraly kidnapped ???? Plus He's being r*ped by him. A no is a no. I hate it.
I’m giving this a 4 star rating, it might change as the story progresses. It’s still on going I just ran out of money to buy the Korean chapters. This stories shows you the different between the students, how the rich can easily buy and get away with things, while the poor struggles to even survive. Their relations is on the toxic side, they need a lot help. And let’s not talk about that Psycho. Honestly I just can’t with people that romanticize the psycho. This one gets real gory real quick. A lot of TW! ⚠️
I patiently waited 3 years for this story to end so I could read it and let me tell you, this was an extremely difficult read. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it but boy did I want to constantly bang my head against a wall from the amount of miscommunication and/or lack of communication between the Mc and Ml.
I’m still mad there weren’t more chapters of them being carefree to just love, without worrying about a certain blond bitch. I mean considering the amount of pain the author put us through I think we deserve at least 10 more chapters. 😭😔
Beautiful art, very similar to Painter Of the Night. The story is only so so though and not much action both in and out of the bedroom. But it’s so rare to find both MCs appealing I’ll be watching out for more chapters.
The story follows a linear sequence that goes through three major plot settings - first, revolving around the MC and ML’s first meeting and romance in their high school years, then their reencounter three years later, and third their last reencounter with toxic dynamics (the MC is kidnapped by the ML). The story is toxic, however a lot of the story unravels during this third arc where there is major character development for both the MC and ML, and everything they struggled with during the first and second arcs comes to light so that they are able to communicate and overcome.
Although I hated the ML for the great majority of the story, I found him to be very realistic, and after sitting with the story’s ending I could see he much he cared for the MC and how much he wanted to be better for him as well. His character development was very satisfying because all the toxicity that was seen during their high school years and for the first half of their second reencounter was put on the back end in order for him to care for the MC, which is where I sometimes find toxic MLs to be the most lacking in other stories.
TW for content- brief mentions of gangrape of the MC(by nameless characters), and graphic scenes of rape to the MC (by secondary characters) right before the ML kidnaps him
im not finished with this manwha but there aren’t any further updates yet and i am not sure if i like it or not.
i actually like the trope of one person being wealthy and saving the poorer persons life and they fall in love with each other bla bla bla
and i also really liked the enemies to lovers part but why do so many manwhas contain r*pe scenes???? it could have done perfectly fine without the characters constantly r*ping one another….. the fact that seung eon sexually assaulted ji wook on numerous occasions ruined seung eons character for me completely… i really liked him and i think i still like him but it still seems weird to me why the "hero" of this story should suddenly turn out to be so cruel to his LOVER ughhhh it’s so hard not to love this mangs or to hate it because it’s plot and it’s couple are actually so good and lovely

This was a painful read. MC always runs away because he's scared of depending on anyone, and ML always chase like a madman. If you rape your lover after four years because you're still pissed he ran away, maybe you needed more time appart. The only reason the other commenters consider him a kinda ok partner is because the other ML was the kind of trash that spends nearly two decades ruining the life of a guy he spent a few months in high-school with.

at chapter 51. I have just been crying nonstop. this is genuinely one of the most depressing manhwas out there; how can one character go through so much?? I don't understand how he's still holding on, I would have gave up on life at that point. this is so cruel.
edit: I spoke too soon, the next two chapters are even worse. I can barely see through my tears. I thought this was gonna be a cute romance😭
I would have rated it a 4 if the MC didn't annoy and piss me off so much. He was so prideful that it literally lead him to misery in his life. Had he just accepted help from the beginning he wouldn't have gone through it all. He'll, if he had accepted help the second time around he wouldn't have gone through most of it.
This comic is reeeaally problematic, mostly the parts where they are kinda "oh I can rap* you, but others can't". Besides that, the 3 stars is bcs of the MC (I want to protect him from the world).
It's a kinda love and hate relationship between me and this manhwa. I love the art, but I am just sick of the whole story! What's wrong with you, author-nim? Just let our Jiwook and Seungeon happy, please? I want to drop this manhwa but I wonder about their story. Oh lord!!!
Bro I can’t even tell you how much I loved this BL. Hyung Seo IS A PSYCHOPATH!!! I stopped reading it because it was SO triggering. The only reason this is getting two stars is because of my pity for Ji Wook and how much I genuinely loved this before everything went wrong
It's a decent read, though some parts don't quite add up. I don't mind that, but it's a bit too heavy for my usual reading taste, so I won't be rereading it.
Note: Make sure to check the trigger warnings before diving in—I didn't, and... well, I wish I had.
