With her heaven-sent wisdom and Irish wit, life coach and business owner Sally Hanan has spent more than twenty years helping Christians who feel as if they are lost and have no purpose. Let her lead you into the life of clarity, purpose, and meaning you were designed to have.
Also a lay counselor, Sally has helped hundreds of men and women heal their pasts and maximize their futures. Coach Yourself is her highly anticipated third workbook designed to help you find yourself and figure out what you want to do with your life.
Featuring her characteristic mix of weighty insight, wit, and thought-provoking questions written to challenge and inspire you, each chapter of Coach Yourself opens with personal stories and insight Hanan has gained as a nurse, mother, business owner, and life coach. Each chapter ends with someone's life story or journey to encourage you (including one by Shawn Bolz of Bolz Ministries).
Sally has a simple yet profound style of writing that speaks straight to the heart to get Christians thinking about their life purposes from a variety of perspectives. These assessments and interactive exercises are designed to help men and women gain more confidence, find direction, navigate change, and pursue their dreams.
From her temporary stint driving for rideshare companies to writing a letter to her father before he died to figuring out how she would have designed her kids if she were God, Sally weaves her own and others' stories together beautifully. With her raw honesty and passion for fullness, she energizes women and men to see their worth, find their purposes, and pursue their goals so they can live every moment fully alive.
Because this is in workbook form, it can be adapted for use in small groups, with a mentor, or in workshops.
Sally Hanan is an Irish import to the US. She made the eight-hour crossing back in the '90s with a husband and two young children in tow. Since then she has managed to raise her above-average kids, develop a solid addiction to Facebook, and clean up when someone is about to visit.
Readers have described Sally’s writing as “inspiring,” “captivating,” “funny,” and “profound.” She is a 2021 Readers' Favorite gold medal winner for her nonfiction and has won numerous awards for her fiction and poetry in smaller writing competitions.
Sally has a nursing degree from Dublin, Ireland, and is a book editor and occasional lay counselor and life coach. An Irish native, she lives near Austin, Texas, thanks to a fortuitous green card lottery—in a gorgeous 1930s home with her “hunk of burning love” husband and their spoiled-rotten doggie.
This is a thorough, well-produced, fascinating guide to how to get through this thing called Life with a strong Christian emphasis. As Hanan says in the foreward, "This workbook, is for those who want to better their lives, to live life fully alive, and to max out life in every way so they can leave this world with nothing left unfinished." Split into four sections, the book is an attempt to help the reader to see their own life through Gods own eyes, as part of God´s plan. To this end there are personal testimonies and exercises to do. Although not a believer myself, it opened my eyes to different ways of seeing the journey - and I have no doubt that believers cannot but fail to be illuminated by the book.
~I'd like to thank the author for sending me a free copy in exchange for my honest review!~ I really enjoyed this workbook. It was well formatted, interactive, and very engaging. In each chapter, there was a passage about the topic, an interactive questions and activities portion, and then a true story from someone in relation to the topic. These stories were really enjoyable, and helped me personally connect with the topic, and think about it. "Coach Yourself: With the Father", is a great book that can be used as a workbook, bible study, or just an afternoon read that you'll definitely enjoy. It is very well written and excellently formatted. Recommended! ~Full Review To Come~
As a life coach I was excited to read this book not only for help in my own life but to be able to recommend in my life coaching practice. I can definitely recommend this for people who are trying to discover their purpose in life, who are feeling stuck in their life, or thise who feel like life is passing them by and regret not doing the things you dreamed and are passionate about. This is in a workbook format but you can pretty easily read through it get the pointers but it won't be quite as helpful. Each chapter starts out with quotes then goes into the teaching part of the chapter with thoughts and ideas from the author as if she's talking right to you. Scripture examples are all through the chapter which leads to topics to think about and answer, a list of Scripture verses to think about and respond to, a closing activity, followed by a testimony of sorts. The questions aren't all quick and easy - some of them will definitely make you stop and think deeply about your life and the person you want to be. With a mix of personality tests, values worksheet, and more this book covers a lot of ground to help you realign your life with what matters most to you as well as what God has placed you here for.
In Coach Yourself: With the Father, Sally Hanan leads you to becoming free and comfortable with yourself and what God created you to do. Step by step, you examine the various pieces of your makeup. The layout of the book flows well. The exercises, though not difficult, require thought, as with any introspective undertaking. By the end, she guides you to view the overall picture, rejoice in just being who you are, and set goals for areas in which you might like to live more fully. I enjoyed the quotes and stories from real people, Ms. Hanan’s own anecdotes and humor, and especially her down-to-earth manner. This workbook can be used individually or in a group.
[I received a review copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.]
Part of a series of guided workbooks, developed by a life coach. Chapters focus on affirming the readers identity in Christ and encouraging self-discovery. Each chapter has a teaching and questions to work through including Bible verses to look up. Several chapters include an assessment to be completed. It reminded me of the Network program or SHAPE. Could be used with a group or on your own.
