Four sexy rockers. Four intense women who don't know they love them. Four hard rockin' love stories for the ages.
Stu Killorn is the epitome of rock and roll.
From his smoldering guitar licks to his dangerous good looks, he’s been on the top of the world and experienced the lowest of lows—including a stint in prison. With his new band he has a second chance at life—and fame. All he has to do is keep his head down and avoid emotional entanglements.
Law student Lindsay Sager is all work and no play. Her only connection to the music world is playing supportive bestie to the lead singer of a new band. Lindsay’s focus is on passing the bar exam so she can’t afford any distractions... not even a sexy Scottish guitarist who rocks her world.
Stu and Lindsay’s sexual chemistry is combustible and their desire to keep things simple turns very complicated. She’s the first woman he can’t seem to stay away from, but when his past comes roaring into the future, can they find a way to move forward together?
If it were ever possible to bring a fictional character to life, I’d pick Lindsay. If I got to bring two, then Stu would be right behind her. These two! My gaaaaaaawd, what a well-balanced couple Kat created for this story. Not just balanced, but they each held the *thing* the other needed to grow and flourish at life!
Stu, our hero, has a bit of a tragic past. I’m not going into details, but it’s deep and jagged and I felt it to the bottom of my soul. Kat did a phenomenal job with his circumstances. She represented all he’d been thru and the effects it had and would probably always have on his life realistically and with respect. His circumstances are relatable, and it all felt very organic when I read it. It was easy to put myself in the story. I could see myself in their world. It was not fantastical in the least. That’s what I admire most about Kat’s storytelling skill. She is consistent when she gifts us with her word wizardry, and I always jump at the chance to read her words.
The second book in Kat Mizera’s Rock Hard series grabbed me from the start. This book was emotional and had a bit more angst than I normally like, but it was mostly warranted. A hero who has tried to lay low and forget his felon past and a heroine ready to get a life after graduating law school. It was only supposed to be one hot night, but that night is one neither can forget.
I fell a little bit in love with Stuart (Stu) in the first book in this series when he steps in to make the embattled Ariel feel a bit more at ease with the band. I knew going in his book would be a bit more emotional and I wasn’t wrong. As a felon and labeled a murderer for a car accident that killed his friend and former band member, Stu was worried about joining Nobody’s Fool, but for him it has always been about the music and while he lost sight of that for awhile, he realizes now more than ever after being in prison and released that he needs music in his life; relationships not so much.
Finishing law school, Lindsay is happy to be celebrating her birthday in Las Vegas where her best friend Lexi and her band are performing. The fact that Lexi’s band member Stuart Killorn is Lindsay’s teenage crush makes things all the better, so when he overhears them talking about him, he decides he is going to give Lindsay one memorable night.
These two were such a contrast but I think that’s what made them work. Lindsay was steady, astute, and looked at life in a much different way than Stu. I loved that right away she realized that Stu had demons that were keeping him from fully living. This wasn’t a fast or easy relationship, they had their night, then a bit of time months later, and it grew from there. Stu was very up front with Lindsay that he wasn’t ever going to be able to open up completely, but over time he did share bits and pieces. I felt like Lindsay’s immaturity about life, love, and relationships let her make some mistakes, but I also felt like she learned from them. While I do think there was too much of a “fairy tale” solution to her job situation, I didn’t hate it because Madeline Aronson, their record company’s attorney, is a bada$$.
Stu had a lot of baggage both personally and professionally and at times it was painful watching his work through it especially when he was taken by surprise, but in the end he came out of it wiser, strong, and happier.
A good addition to this series Pause contained likeable characters, an emotional journey for the hero, a heroine reevaluating her career path, and a roller coaster relationship that was inevitable.
first time from this author. and it was good, not completely nice all the way but good. thats why its a 3 stars for some reason lol....
‼️‼️‼️ NO VIRGINS
‼️‼️‼️The heroine is 24 years old and i forgot how old the hero is because he is not interesting to me😅
‼️‼️‼️the hero is a rockstar
‼️‼️‼️not love in first sight so 🥵
‼️‼️‼️the heroine is smart attorney like wow 😍
‼️‼️‼️THE HERO PUSH THE HEROINE AWAY QUITE SOMETIMES. NOT TOO MUCH. A BIT ANNOYING THO... and the heroine never push the hero away. Only when the hero is being a jerk lol
‼️‼️‼️NO CHEATING
‼️‼️‼️SAFE HOT LOVE ROMANTIC LOVE STORY
‼️‼️‼️IT HAS SEPARATION for months i think but both are loyal especially the heroine. The hero did invite someone over because he thinks he is ready to be with someone else but when that someone starts to kiss him, he flinch and got away and never do it again so it was one time. But still why do it? 😂
‼️‼️‼️THE HERO IS POSSESSIVE AND PROTECTIVE ALPHA MALE but not too alpha male. The hero has been through a lot in physically and emotionally, and i understand maybe that did damaged his mental health but i guess everybody is different when they dealt with trauma or negativity. So I’m sympathize with the hero... the hero at first was annoying but not too annoying tho, he did push the heroine away and thinking he can’t be loyal and thinking he was too much blablablabla. So thats not what i like about a hero like this. Like way too damaged and bring that up to the relationship thats not worth to bring it up, and not worth to drag down into. If you know what i mean lol.
So you can read here that how much the hero have been through a lot and he always thinks about it and he always so hard on himself about it.
‼️‼️‼️TRIGGERS: r*pe, killing, drugs and alcohol
‼️‼️‼️not many jealous scenes from both
‼️‼️‼️DRAMA WITH OM but not too annoying. NO DRAMA WITH OW... other drama is about the hero’s past and about themself well the hero mostly😂
‼️‼️‼️HAPPY ENDING i guess...
Thats why i gave it 3 stars. 1. The hero never tells the heroine about that someone he invites to try to hookup when he should. 2. The hero always doubts himself too much and even thinks about “can’t be loyal” or “too hard to fight the temptation” like thats a big no for me lol. 3. NO EPILOGUE. Like no marriage or kids so sucks! 4. Their connection about each other is good from the heroine but bad for the hero. Like the hero talks big about loving the heroine but i always sense on every word he said is always not 100% true. Like when he said that, not 100% honest and truly mean it. So it sucks to really okay with this whole story😂 like I can’t be sure this couple is going to be together for the next 30 years because of the hero😂 but who knows he can change himself and do better🥺🥺 okay I’m done lol. Sorry.
Overall this story is good. It has mystery and love.

How would you like your birthday present to be a night with Scottish guitarist for Nobody’s Fool who you have had a crush on forever? Well when your best friend, Lexi, is the lead singer for Nobody’s Fool and she’s your bestie your dreams came come true. Lindsay is studying for the bar so when the band comes to Minneapolis it’s time to have a little fun. Stu thought for one night for her birthday…why not. So is one time going to be enough for these two? Lindsay is so busy trying to get her career going and Stu is trying to make the best of his second chance at making music.
I have to say that I’m in love with this series and it will always be a one click for me. I loved Stu’s back story and how he’s trying to come to terms as to what sent him to prison and the supportiveness of Lindsay as he tries to feel his way through this. Their chemistry is one others can only dream about. I definitely recommend this book as well as the others in this series.
I really liked what we had seen of Stu in the last book. You knew he had a sordid past and that he didn't want to talk about it. I also knew it would come out in this one. After hearing everything I really feel bad for him and hate how many times and by who he was betrayed. I loved that at the end everything came out in the open. I also loved how Stu finally told Lindsay what went on, just the two of them and in a way they both could be vulnerable.
Lindsay and Stu really worked up to that vulnerability. What started out as a one night stand became so much more for them. I liked that they talked about things and both of them made the choice for the more. I also got what Lexi said when Lindsay asked her if what she did was wrong and if how Stu reacted was wrong. Some times the answer for something can be the same, even when they mean the exact opposite. I was glad that they worked things out, both of them deserved someone so fabulous in their lives always rooting them on.
Pause is fabulous. This is the second book in the Rock Hard series and Nobody's Fool is just getting hotter. My favorite bandmates are back and this is Stu's story. I love that we finally get the mystery behind the man and you feel it in your heart for everything he was put through. Then we have Lindsay best friend of Lexi and a friend to the band. There is something about Lindsay and Stu that just pulls you right in. The chemistry between Stu and Lindsay is red hot and grows even hotter as the book goes on. I love how caring and gentle Lindsay is with Stu as his past haunts him. You feel for Stu as he struggles with his trust issues and reconnecting with with his family. Stu and Lindsey are wonderful together and have this way of taking your heart. I loved this one so much and could not put this one down.
Wow, Stuart Killorn is quite the character. He is the quiet one in Nobody’s Fool and keeps himself guarded. He has a tragic past he is trying to escape. Lindsay is looking for some birthday fun while in Las Vegas visiting her bestie, lead singer Lexie. Stu has been her crush, her rock fantasy for years and she wants just one night. Will one night be enough for them both? Will Stu be able to get past his demons? This book is fun as well as emotionally gripping and Stu breaks your heart and has you wanting to fight for him!
Stu and Lindsay are fire and I love the backstory and how the band interacts. The chemistry is amazing and we get a little mystery along with the sweetness and steam. I practically devoured this.
One night is all Stu can offer Lindsay. But oh what a night it is! What a birthday present he gives her. But when one night turns to more when Lindsay sees him again, will Stu learn to open up, or will his past remain a locked door he refuses to give Lindsay a key to?
Damn but Stu is a damaged guy! I felt so badly for him, even as I wanted to smack him for his harsh treatment of Lindsay when all she was trying to do was help him. These two had so much chemistry, and it was obvious from their very first page that one night was never going to be contained to just one night. Pause is classic rockstar romance - steamy with a tortured hero, a strong, compassionate heroine and a wonderful secondary cast, whose stories I cannot wait to read!
Stuart and Lindsay’s story in Pause had every written ingredient in it to make it the perfect rocker read for me. Not so much snot and tears, but the deep heartbreak and angst that Stu carried within himself absolutely tore me to the soul. Lindsay has to be up there as one the most amazing heroines I could admire. She was perfect for him, and what made this stand out for me is that these two didn’t have money to burn.
The title suits Stu Killorn’s story perfectly. If you’ve read the first book in Author Kat Mizera’s Rock Hard series, Play, then you’ll have read that Stu has made bad decisions in his first run at Rockstar success. He landed in prison, essentially losing everything; his band, his family and his money. During the trial and his time behind bars, Stu’s life has been on pause, and since getting out and being a part of Nobody’s Fool, he’s been solidly working to get his life back on track. I absolutely admired him, and could totally understand Lindsay’s long-term crush on him. The internal trauma that the whole experience left him with was perfectly put together succinctly and sympathetically, and I just couldn’t help but admire and want the underdog to win. Win in life, in his goals and win his woman’s heart. If only he could learn to believe that he should look forward.
Lindsay Sager was a Law Student and a hardworking young woman with goals. I just loved her general high integrity and hard-working attitude to life. In catching up with her long-time friend and lead singer of Nobody’s Fool, Lindsay got to achieve the opportunity that every girl and woman has fantasised about; a hot night of shagging with the Rockstar of her dreams. Perhaps that is what made this book my favourite of the series so far.
My absolute favourite secondary character in this book was Stu’s Gran. She was as funny as a fight, sharp as a tack and sprightly to boot. And, she was the only person to unconditionally love and support Stu when he was at his lowest point in life; the only person to keep him looking forward. She was an absolute hoot.
Each of these books are stand-a-lones, but I can guarantee you that the best reading enjoyment is to begin the series at the beginning. Hell’s teeth, I’d advise you to go even further back than that! Some of these characters I first read about in Ms Mizera’s Nowhere Trilogy, through her Protector series, and into this Rock-Hard series. There’s a few books to read, but totally worth your reading time and money. Each and every one of them are 5-Star reads and so is this one 🎸🖤★
This is book 2 in the series and it easily stands alone. We met Stu in the first book but all we knew about him was that he joined the newly formed band with Lexi, Bash and Tyler and that he did some jail time. We had no idea why.
This is Stu's story and it starts with Lexi (she is married to Zaan and her story is told in Sidewinders Zaan), as she throws a party for her bestie Lindsay. Linz is a law student about to take the bar and who has dreams of being a lawyer in Michigan. Her bestie is Lexi and Lexi throws a party with her in Las Vegas and thats where Stu overhears Lindz say how hot he was.
In this story we learn what happened to Stu and while he served his time, he has some big secrets related to his jail time and he has some personal stuff to work through with his old band and with his family.
Lindz has his back. Thats what I loved about her. She fights for him, even if that means sometimes she fights for him with Stu. I loved that Lexi manages to keep out of the issues and she backs both Stu and Lindz without making things worse.
Lindz is a pretty awesome character. She is very loyal, loving and she has high aspirations for herself. I loved that as she fell for Stu she always followed her heart and her dreams.
Stu is this awesome guy. He made mistakes and he owns them. He also suffers for him but he is willing to take that pain and deal with it. I loved how he was with Lindz and how true to her he was as his life got more complicated.
I am LOVING this series so much. Each book is better than the last one and I hate it when I reach the end. Bash is up next and cannot wait to read his story.
I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Lindsay is a smart woman but yearns for a more personal connection. Stuart seems to like a good time. But as you get to know him he’s also looking for a personal connection. This is a story where we get to know a member of a band up close and personal. We get a fictional glimpse into what fans might never see.
The heat between our couple is hot almost from the beginning. Lindsay is trying to break into a very tough profession. Stuart is trying to regain himself but feels broken. There are times where you can almost feel the pain he is going through. With Lindsay, you can see how compassionate the author made her. Should you ever need her advice, she might be someone you could lean on.
I enjoyed getting to know the secondary characters. One is Lindsay’s champion and shows how good a friend can be. Another character I enjoyed is a relative of Stuart’s. She’s a firecracker and wouldn’t mind a family member like her. They help to move the story along – both through the good times and bad. Our minds may get diverted for a little while but the author knows just what to do so we know whose story we’re reading about.
Because of the business Stuart’s in, that is an important part of the storyline. It affects a lot of his life. We all realize how glamorous it sounds but never realize what it’s like for the person we put on a pedestal. I enjoyed watching how things got resolved for him because he had a champion in his corner. Their story may be finished but I’m glad to see the series isn’t.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
A hot, Scottish, Rock God Guitarist with a bad boy reputation! Oh yes, please!!
Stu had a successful band, Waking Wonder, when his life took a drastic and fatal turn that cost him his childhood friend and band mate, his career and reputation, his family and friends, and eventually his freedom. Stu doesn’t trust more than a couple people and he’s not looking for a relationship and partakes in one-night stands with groupies now that he is touring again with his new band, Nobody’s Fool.
His friend and lead singer, Lexi, brings her best friend Lindsay out to Vegas for a birthday/graduation from law school celebration. He and Lindsay have a hot and steamy night together and mutually agree it would be a one time thing.
They see each other again a month later and sparks ignite again. Watching these two navigate a relationship where distance, secrets, and past events are all hurdles that need to be cleared and worked out sucked me in and kept my attention until the very end.
Kat Mizera is an automatic 1-click read for me because regardless of the genre or trope she always writes an intense story with memorable characters who have to fight to be together without overly dramatic angst. I’m not normally a fan of rockstar romances, but I read the fist book because Kat wrote it and it connected to Lexi and Zaan from the Sidewinders series. I of course loved book 1 and was excited to read this book. From the excerpt from book 3, I’m going to be eager to read it too!
I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love everything Kat Mizera writes and I really enjoyed reading her newest book Pause, the second book in the Rock Hard series. Each book in this series is about a different member of Nobody’s Fool and this one is about Stewart, the lead guitarist for the band. This sensual story immediately drew me into Stewart and Lindsey’s world. It has great character development and an interesting plot that made me feel as though I was right there with them.
Stewart is a good guy but he has a lot of baggage and he is a tortured soul. Some things happened in Stewart’s past and he has had a difficult time moving on. So Stewart keeps to himself and lets his demons rule his life.
Lindsey has just graduated from law school and is celebrating her birthday with her best friend who happens to be a member in the rock band Nobody's fool. When Lindsey and Stewart hook up, they know it is only for one night. The only problem is, they find it impossible to forget each other.
Stewart is a passionate guy with a Scottish accent and when he and Lindsey get together, they burn up the sheets. You will need a fan to cool off after reading this one. Lindsey is sweet and she somehow makes Stewart break all of his rules.
What I enjoyed the most about this story are the characters. Stewart and Lindsey are easy to like. They are down to earth people with difficult decisions to make about their lives, just like we all do. Stewart and Lindsey are good for each other and they show us the healing power of love. I enjoyed Pause and I’m sure you will too.
Lindsay's best friend, Lexie who is the lead singer for Nobody's Fool, invites her to Las Vegas as a birthday surprise to see Nobody's Fool play live at a club. Lindsay has just graduated from law school and decides a trip to Las Vegas would be good before she must buckle down and study for the boards. Stu is the guitarist for Nobody's Fool who is starting his life over after spending time in prison for manslaughter in the death of his friend and band mate. Stu wants to keep his head down, stay emotionally detached from the people around him, and help Nobody's Fool become successful. Lindsay has had a crush on Stu since he first hit the rock scene with his first band and before his fall from grace. Lindsay decides one night with Stu is the perfect birthday gift. After their night together, Stu and Lindsay can't stop thinking about each other. Will Lindsay and Stu decide to try and have a relationship? Will Lindsay's law career lead her in a different direction from the one she had planned in Minnesota? Can Stu trust Lindsay with the secrets from his past? Will Stu walk away when Lindsay keeps digging into his past? Can Stu overcome his past and have the future he wants with Lindsay? I absolutely loved Pause by Kat Mizera! Stu and Lindsay have great chemistry and burn up the sheets whenever they are together. It is great to see other characters from previous books interacting with Stu and Lindsay. I would highly recommend getting Pause and the other book in the Rock Hard series by Kat Mizera. I received an ARC copy of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.
3.5 stars Are you ready to rejoin the crew of Nobody's Fool? In this installment, we are spending time with Stuart. He is paired with Lindsay (best friend of band lead singer, Lexi).
I loved how these two connected and seeing how their relationship developed. From book 1 of this series (Play) we know going in that Stuart is carrying a lot of baggage/emotional wounds. In Pause, we learn more about what that really means and it made me root for him to figure things out and possibly find a happy ending. Lindsay is a good match for Stu. She has a good sense of herself and her friendship with Lexi means that she already fits in well with the band. Both of the main and secondary characters are well written and a pleasure to spend time with.
There are moments in Pause where the story stretches reality a bit, especially in terms of Lindsay's career choices. The emotional impact of Stu and Lindsay's growing relationship makes it easy to set those things aside for the most part.
As the 2nd book in the series, this story picks up almost immediately after the end of Play. Stu and Lindsay's story is a stand alone, but we get to see a lot of the rest of the band as well. If you enjoyed book one, then you will be glad to see Tyler & Airel and what they are up to now. The secondary cast also is fleshed out a bit more for the future books in the series. I am definetly looking forward to what may be in store for Ford and Bash!
Loved this read about Stu Scottish rock musician and Law student Lindsay. Stu has a second chance at life and being in a band when he joins Nobody's Fool rock band. He meets Lindsay when she's out celebrating her birthday with friends. Her best friend Lexi who she's known for over ten years is in the band too. When Stu and Lindsay meet she's over the moon as Stu has been the subject of her dreams since forever. She cant believe her luck when they meet and they hit it off. Stu has a past and he's reluctant to restrict himself to one person he has so many skeletons in his closet. Lindsay really likes him and prepared to forgive him despite his past it was only an accident. But he still keeps beating himself over it. Can he let Lindsay in his life or will he keep punishing himself forever? They are so hot together and Lindsay manages to give as good as she gets and tries to get through Stu's layers. Stu always sticks up for Lindsay whenever someone tries to bully her he won't stand for any of that. He will come to the aid of any woman in trouble sometimes to his detriment. I received an Arc to do an honest review for NNBB. I really enjoyed this book and the hot relationship between the two. I was disappointed when it ended. Although this is part of the Rock Hard series it can still be read as a stand-alone. If you love a hot rocker romance with some angst you will love this book.
I love the peeps that make up the Nobody’s Fool band and Pause is an excellent addition to the Rock Hard series. The author has given us a well written book full of surprises and so much emotion. I laughed, sighed and even screamed at my ereader a few times (lol). This is Stu’s story. If you’ve read book 1, “Play”, you know Stu has issues. He’s a felon, considered by many a murderer but something just doesn’t add up. All Stu wants to do is keep his head down, stay out of trouble and keep the past in the past. Thus he ends up pretty much a loner. But in walks Lexi’s friend Lindz (Lexi is the singer in the band). She is celebrating her birthday and graduating college. Her biggest fantasy would be one night with Stu. He’s had a crush on him since he sang with his first band. To Stu she’s too good for a guy like him but how does he say no to her fantasy, especially on her birthday. Reading the push and pull, the self loathing, the determination these two go through was heartwarming at times and heart breaking at others. Can Stu ever trust another to truly let them in? Can Lindz find a way to get him to let her in? Will these two end up alone and heartbroken or will fate finally lend a hand in a no win situation?
Amazing read that this reader Highly Recommends. It’s book 2 of the Rock Hard series and if you haven’t read Play (book 1), I suggest grabbing them both up ASAP. You won’t be sorry you did.
Sexy, emotional and intense, Pause has all the necessary pieces of an amazing love story, and more!
Stu is lead guitarist for Nobody’s Fool and flies under the radar as much as he can. With a reputation that is considered bad by many, and shady by most, he is thankful to have another opportunity to do what he loves on the scale is is currently doing it. He has no need for a relationship, it isn’t even something he expects to find, but fate has other ideas.
Lindsay has been best friends with Lexi since they were kids, growing up in Minneapolis. Lexi is now a rock star, but that hasn’t changed the friendship they have one bit. So, when Lindsay’s birthday comes up right after she graduated law school, a huge party with her BFF at a private concert in Vegas is on the agenda. Meeting, and wanting a night with Stuart, her long time crush, seems too good to be true, but she needs a night to let loose a little bit.
What follows is a passionate story full of intense subjects, strong feelings and provocative nights. Stu and Lindsay fit together , thought they both have so much going on in their personal lives, they wonder if anything more than friends, with some benefits, is even possible.
I am loving this series and Stu’s story is one I could not wait to read! It had moments that will make your heartbreak, while being balanced by times you will feel total bliss and affection for both Stu and Lindz!
When Stu Killhorn, the guitarist with the band Nobody's Fool, overhears bandmate Lexi's best friend, Lindsay say one of her dreams is to have a hot, steamy night with him he decides he might just make her dreams come true. The fact that she is beautiful, smart, funny and curves he can get lost in, is definitely an added bonus. But Stu doesn't do commitment because he has a darkness in his soul that comes from a tragic accident that turned everyone he loved against him and cost him his freedom. What he doesn't bargain on is Lindsay being everything he ever thought he needed but as an attorney, he feels he can't put the burden of him being a felon on her reputation. But sometimes you can't chose who you fall in love with. Lindsay becomes Stu's confidant and although he won't talk about the accident or his time in prison, he opens up to her and when his grandmother falls ill he asks Lindsay to go with him to Scotland to see her. Lindsay sees first hand how everyone in Stu's hometown has distanced themselves and her heart breaks for him. But one foolish act by Lindsay puts everything in jeopardy and Stu needs to keep his distance to see if he can overcome the sense of betrayal. This is the second book in the story of Nobody's Fool and it is great. Loved the story and the characters really came to life and kept me engaged.
Lundsay gets her wish for her birthday . . one fabulous night with her teen crush, rockstar Stu Killorn. Stu is up front it is one night only . . . but what if it isn’t? But long distance relationships are hard. Stu doesn't trust easily, and for good reason, and Lindsay’s focus is on studying for the bar exam and getting her law career off the ground. Keeping things simple between them isn’t an option. Stu’s tragic past has him emotionally closed off, and Lndsay feels like she needs to be let in so she can help him heal. And their passion has them wanting no one else.
I loved this couple! Lindsay is such a dedicated and loyal person. She yearns to fix all of Stu’s problems while he just wants to ignore them and move on. And, let’s be honest, Stu really has been through the wringer physically and emotionally and still can't fully deal with the fallout. He wants Lindsay but she pushes him emotionally . . . and Stu can't deal with that either.
Stu is sweeter than I thought he would be. I adored him with his Gran and loved watching him finally deal with his past and begin making amends. Thank god Lindsey is a meddler with a heart of gold!
Pause was emotionally intense for sure. Stu’s back story is quite deep. I enjoyed the depth to the plot as well as watching a completely opposites attract romance unfold before my eyes with Stu and Lindsay. 5 Stars!
This is another fantastic read from Kat Mizera and part of her Rock Hard series. I genuinely enjoyed the first book in the series, Play, where in that book we were introduced to guitarist Stu Killorn. I am so glad that he and Lindsay were able to get their own story to tell - and what a story it is! Stu has endured so many tortured events in his life that, for the most part, he is just existing as he sees this as the most he can and should do.
All Lindsay Sager is looking for is to let loose for a bit after completing her intense law studies, gearing up for the passing the bar exam and starting her career. For Lindsay, all Stu would be is a little distraction - until he’s not. For Stu, all he can offer is a momentary diversion and nothing more than the today - until maybe there is possibility of more.
I loved Lindsay’s perseverance and feistiness. Stu had a quite strength about him and was constantly haunted by his past and demons that he could not easily let go. The relationship between these two characters was filled with an intense and sizzling attraction, heart-wrenching moments, and a page-turner from start to finish. Don’t pause about getting this book – you don’t want to miss out on an incredible read and continuation to this series.
If you love a seriously broken "bad" boy this is SO gonna be your book. I can’t say much without spoiling this book, which I won't do. All I will say is that Stu is a man you will want to fall in love with. You'll want to reach through these pages, pull him into a strong hug and love all over him.
Lindsey is an amazing woman. She's just out of law school and trying to find her place. She's best friends with Lexi and has always had a major crush on Stu. These two spend an amazing and unforgettable night together, breaking all of Stu's rules.
I loved these two. They were seriously perfect for each other. This bad boy needed to let go of his past. He needed someone to help him move forward. And even though he may not have agreed, Lindsey was just what he needed.
This book is probably one of my favorites by Ms. Mizera. It just wasn't two people meeting, falling in love, having an issue and figuring out how to fix it. This book was about redemption, about getting your life back. It was about finally letting go of those ghosts. Something Stu definitely needed to do. I couldn't be happier that these two got their HEA.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
When law student Lindsay Sager attends a concert by Nobody's Fool, she expects to have fun with her best friend Lexi, who is lead singer in the band. What she doesn't expect is hooking up with Stu, the hot Scottish guitarist in the band, a guy she has crushed on for years.
Stu is used to women throwing themselves at him, but there is something about Lindsey that is special and he starts breaking all his rules with her, rules he has enforced with the women who throw themselves at the guys in the band. But Linz is finishing law school and he is a convicted felon, he knows she is too good for him. But still the attraction keeps pulling them together.
I liked how Stu respected Lindsay, the friendship within their circle of friends, and the insights to the world of entertainment and law. Stu struggles with his inner demons, but Lindsay is rock solid. Both are finding their ways in new careers, Stu in the new band and Lindsay making decisions about what kind of law she wants to practice, while also exploring their relationship.
I received an advanced reader copy of Pause and this is my honest review.
I really enjoyed this rock star romance. This is the second book in the series and just like the first, I absolutely fell in love with it. It was about Stu, a member of 'Nobody's Fool', and Lindsay, the best friend of the lead singer Lexi. Lindsay had had a huge crush on Stu since he was part of his first band and for her birthday she tried to seduce him so she could have one night with the man of her dreams. Stu who thought Lindsay was beautiful decided to give her that one night but wanted to cut it off at that. The more they saw each other, the stronger their connection grew. Even though Stu stilled refused to get serious because of his damaged past and Lexi's law career, they just couldn't keep their hands off of each other. Would this couple be able to overcome their distractions and issues and be together? This story had me addicted from the moment I started reading it. The story was great and I appreciated how neither character was perfect, just like real life. It was steamy and had a great story line and I was a little sad when it ended. I received a review copy of this story and am leaving a voluntary honest review.
I think that sometimes we expect way more from our romance story Hero's than we would ever expect in our real lives. I really enjoyed this story and found the life drama in Stu's life to be completely reasonable and believable. Too often in life it's the drama that sells, don't let the facts get in the way of a good story. I enjoyed the relationship between Stu and Lindsay as it progressed from a birthday wish to a deep relationship, and particularly liked that it addressed things like finding it difficult to open up to anyone. I loved that in Pause we have a female character whose body type isn't what society says is most desirable but who is a strong, intelligent woman surrounded by people who love and care for her and entering a powerful career. Lindsay has to be one of my favourite female characters. Contrast this with Stu, who, while a musician with a rock band on the cusp of major success, is a mess. Emotionally stunted and closed off after the incident in his past, making time with any girl who offers, Stu doesn't realise how much he needs Lindsay. This was a wonderful story of redemption and new hope.
I loved them together! With the second book in her Rock Hard series Kat Mizera is bringing an angsty couple together in PAUSE and I simply adored them. There wasn't a lot of relationship development in actually being together or what the future holds, etc., but the heartfelt conversations, the explosive sexual chemistry and the downright gentle souls they both let show was so endearing. I can't wait for more in the series!
Stu is everything. From the start of this new band, we've been able to get a feel for him and knew he had heartache in his past, but man he poured it out even more than I was expecting. I felt for him on every level. What a heart!
Lindsay is fun and down-to-earth, but Stu brings a side of her to life that not many see. I enjoyed her closeness with Lexi, her friendship with the entire band and how openly she let herself enjoy new things.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series so far to anyone who enjoys the rock-star mentality partnered with a whole lot of heart and happily ever afters.
4.6 stars This is the second book in the ROCK HARD series and it can be read as a standalone. However, I am going back to read the first book with sexy rocker Tyler who makes an appearance here. This is Stu’s story and it is one of a man rebuilding his life after a tragedy when the people who should have stood by him turned a blind eye. Lindsay has been a die-hard fan of Stu’s band since she was a teenager. She finally has the opportunity to meet her crush when her best friend throws her a party before she dives into studying for the bar exam. The sparks between Stu and Lindsay are flying as their chemistry is undeniable. However, due to Stu’s issues with trust and feeling unworthy of a woman like Lindsay, a one-night stand seems to be all that is in the cards for them…but sometimes life has other ideas and the people we need the most stick in our life and are in it for the long haul. The author has done a beautiful job showing the characters vulnerabilities and showing how love can truly heal one’s wounds. I cannot wait to read more with these band members.
Pause is a fantastic addition to the Rock Hard series because how can you go wrong with a hot, Scottish rocker and a sweet, smart woman who have chemistry in spades! There is so much more to Stu Killorn than good looks and a sexy voice. He is battling his past demons and trying to find his footing again with his new band Nobody’s Fool and it seems that one special lady may be the one to open his eyes again to a future he never thought possible. Lindsay Sager can’t figure out what Stu sees in her when he can have any women he wants, but she can’t deny the desire that moves through her whenever he is around. These two are so good together. For Stu, there is something about Lindsay that allows him to open up about his past and finally find someone who he can trust and care for. And for Lindsay, Stu makes her feel beautiful and desired. They are both supportive with each other’s needs and I desperately wanted them to find the happily ever after together that they both deserved.
Stu Killlorn is a member of a new rock band called Nobody’s fool. He ‘s a former member of Waking Wonder but he went to jail for killing his best friend on a vehicle accident ending the band. He trust no one after being betrayed by everyone he knew except for his grandmother. He is not the kind of man that could do relationship. Lindsay Seger is a law student studying for her bar exam but she’s broke and living with her parents. Her best friend is the singer of Nobody’s fool and invites her to celebrate her birthday at one of her concerts. What Lindsay didn’t expect was to spend the night with her biggest crush, Stu. This is supposed to be a one night, but will they be able to stay away from each other? With both of them starting their careers? Will they be able to work it out? This is a great story just as the previous book was and I can’t wait to read the next book of the series. This is a must read book.
