Love small town romances? Love reading about tight knit groups of friends? Then this series is for you!
Harlow Layne is known for her contemporary romance style of beautiful slow-burn, sweet, sexy and swoon-worthy alphas, and fast pace, super-steamy romance in her Love is Blind series.
I liked the first book in this series a lot, but this one was not nearly as good. I hate Reed. Hate him. There is outside the relationship sex within the book's timeframe, off page, that he mentions in his narrative but never tells her about. He's horrible. He sleeps with others after her, even though it hadn't been that long. He completely blamed her for a long time for something that was also his fault. He was so mean about it. Reed is not remotely the kind of H I like to read about. Since Shaw Hart was the author of the first in this series, I thought this book would also be safe. It's not. I hope the third is better. I believe it's by Cameron Hart. I won't read any other books by Harlow Layne. Not my kind of author at all. The happy ending of this book changes nothing. His proposal was awful. He was just horrible, and she's stupid for not realizing it. She's better off with someone else. If this were real, they'd be divorced within a few years. I really thought this book would be about her with someone else. I'm so disappointed.
This story starts out with a bang…literally. Then everything goes up in flames rather quickly.
I loved Rowan. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind, she is full of sassy, she is strong and she is full of life despite what life has handed her. Reed is a grump, rough around the edges and holds somewhat of a grudge. There is no denying they have chemistry, at least physically from the start. But can the past be forgiven?
I loved seeing Rowan and Reed’s relationship progress throughout this story. They go from friends with benefits, to almost enemies, to slowly reconnecting on a different level. Rowan brings out a different side in Reed and I loved seeing that more caring, less grumpy side of him.
This story is full of laughs, heat and plenty of sweet moments from the start and is the perfect afternoon read!
If you’re looking for a surprise baby, small town, second chance, student/teacher romance this is one to check out.
This is a story line with poor decisions, blame, and ruined relationships. Professor Reed Cavanaugh was caught with a student when Dr. Stevens walked into the unlocked office and saw them in the middle of things on his desk. He was immediately fired on the spot. And Reed was shocked that it caused him the loss of his position. He blamed the student, of course, never defended her from the insulting remarks of Dr. Stevens, and left town to start over. (I already disliked him and his grumpy attitude after this. He got “off easy” as far as I could see.)
Rowan’s parents threw her out of the house, as she knew they would, because no one ever makes a mistake and needs a little compassion, help, and understanding at a time like that after her own poor choice has changed the path of her life.
So Reed took a less prestigious job in a new town to start his new life, hopefully older and wiser, but maybe not yet. (How did he snag another teaching job after the reason he lost the first one??) Then he runs into Rowan who has ended up in the same town. His first reaction is to get her out of his life as he demands to know why she is there. He refuses to listen to whatever she says she needs to tell him… unless she apologizes! (For what?) Will he get his wish? Or will secrets spill that shine a little light on the situation and change his perspective? Will she even want to consider another chance with the man who put all the blame on her for his own choices? This is a train wreck you may not want to watch.
The hero in this book is horrible just about all the way through. I don’t think he ever really redeems himself. I liked the other two books in this series. This one, not at all.
What to expect from Ms. Layne's newest release: A strong willed, curvaceous heroine who loves her body? ✔ A slightly taboo, age gap romance ✔ Steamy✔✔ Secrets, surprises and a sprinkle of angst✔ A great and solid friend group and a small town ✔
Could it have done with a bit more grovel? Most certainly and Reed might not be the most likeable hero I've read from this author, Rowan and her friends certainly make up for that. It's quick, it's spicy and I ate this up. I volunteered to read and review an early copy of this. All opinions are my own.
4 Star review of Forever (Rosewood #2) by Harlow Layne Set in the small town of Rosewood, CO. This is Rowan and Reed Cavanaugh’s second chance at love story and one that ticked a number of boxes for me. I really loved Rowan, she is feisty, sassy and not afraid to stand up to anyone for what and who she believes in. Reed on the other hand was harder to engage with, his gruff, grumpy exterior was not that likeable initially. Imagine Reed’s surprise when he comes face to face with Rowan again and learns her secrets. Can these two come to terms with the past, forgive and in doing so forge a future together. The chemistry between Rowan and Reed was intense and their journey emotional and rocky. As they come together there is heat, passion, angst and drama. Although not a long book, Ms. Layne managed to pack quite a bit into it. It was a fast paced and entertaining read.
Book 2 in the Rosewood series and it was a great addition. Loved Rowan and Reed. This was an age gap/taboo/enemies to lovers romance with just a hint of a second chance and I really enjoyed this book. Quick read that will suck you in from page one. Their chemistry is off the chains hot and you will experience that from the very first page. Loved this story. Harlow has a way of creating characters that will make you fall in love with them. Great read and can’t wait to read more from this author.
This one really started off with a bang 🤭 I loved everything about Forever. It had a pinch of forbidden mixed with heat, romance and angst. I adored Rowan right from the start while at first I wanted to punch Reed in the throat lol. But as things progressed and started heating up between them my heart melted. Was a short, sweet and enjoyable story.
Forever book 2 in the Rosewood Series, this one is by Harlow Layne.
Harlow knows how to bring a story together where you just can't put it down and this one wasn't any different. She brings chemistry and so much more to the table.
Reed and Rowan, what can I say about these two? At the beginning they had such a erotic relationship but in a split second that changes. We are thrown a year after said incident and Rowan has to figure out life and is doing the best she can in this situation. Than she sees Reed and she has a choice to make, does she make the right one or the wrong one? You will have to read the book to find out, I don't like spoiling for people.
Short novella with a scandal, age gap, and surprise pregnancy thrown in the mix. This story has it all, so get prepared for a fast paced storyline.
This book starts off with a bang literally and it's dirty fun, with a professor and his student until it takes a turn for the worst case scenario.
Moving forward you find Reed, who is now a bitter high school teacher in Rosewood, CO. Rowan, is a single mother who is on her own making a life a new life for not just herself but her daughter also; when they cross paths after the bitter ending to their relationship a year ago.
You will watch this couple try to actually get to know one another than just a hook up. They have a instant attraction to one another but they didn't have much of a emotional relationship before. Now they both need to find away be parents to a little girl who changes there lives. Yes it's a short read that is jammed with a ton of emotions and the story is fast paced but it doesn't lack the drama, heat, and HEA that Harlow, is known for giving.
This book was a fun and steamy read with drama mixed in to give you just the right amount to keep the story interesting. So if your looking for something short and full of emotions this would be a great quick read. I voluntarily signed up for an ARC for this book with nothing to gain from it other than giving my honest opinion/review of this book. It's a fast paced read and gives you the HEA and a fun little escape from every day life.
What a story! First this story starts out so steamy, then you are hit with a shocker. But the story plays out. It gives you amazing back and forth entertainment that will have you not wanting to put the book down in order to find out what happens between Rowan and Reed.
Rowan is feisty and doesn’t let anyone push her around. She does what she has to do to protect those she loves. But when Reed unexpectedly pops up back in her life. Will it bring back moments of sadness to her, or will she be able to forget the past and reclaim Reed?
Reed is in an awful state, grumpier than ever. He ends up in a small town, knowing no one. But when at quick glance, the familiar red hair catches his eye. Will he be able to forgive the past to look toward the future? Or will Mr. Grumpy pants, stay miserable forever?
This book was another amazing read by Harlow Layne. I see her name and instantly have to read what she wrote. This book has it all. Extra swoon, a heartfelt story and amazing chemistry between two characters who seem set on pushing away from each other. This is an amazing must read.

They get a little drunk after they drink a few more beers and they end up in bed together that night. Reed tells Rowan this won't be the last time he touch her he wants her in his bed every night. He tells her he wants her in his bed and arms for the night. One Harper's second birthday, Rowan is making dinner for them. She told Reed she doesn't want to go out. Now they have my forever.

It was a well written story but I really didn’t like Reed. He acted like a 40 year old child from the beginning, blaming his 19 year old hookup for everything that happened to him. This isn’t insta-love by any means. He hates her, treats her like crap, actively blocks her and totally forgets about her for something that wasn’t her fault at all. He’s pissed when he sees her again and threatens her with legal action if she doesn’t leave him alone. Super romantic.
In the epilogue he’s suddenly become the perfect bf. I don’t buy it.
Spoilers ahead:
When she sees him with his colleague at the end, she is justifiably upset and his response is to put the blame on her. Tells her if she’s going to get jealous, then she should leave now. A$$!! He was flirting and he let that woman put her hands on him yet she’s overreacting and he’s ready to kick her and his daughter out. He never even thinks about how it looked to her and didn’t apologize because, after Rowan left (convenient) he told the woman he was in a relationship. Then they decide to stay together. It seemed like she settled.
Also, If you get fired for just cause, you can’t collect unemployment either.
Forever is a Rosewood Novella that takes place in Rosewood, CO. Harlow’s story is about Reed, a teacher who loses everything and escapes to Rosewood. Rowan is escaping her life, since her parents disowned her, and she finds herself right in Rosewood. Turns out, Rowan is the woman who Reed credits with ruing his life. However, Rowan, isn’t alone, she's got a new accessory in tow. Is this accessory his? He thinks there’s no way!
As angry as Reed is with Rowan he can still feel the pull he has towards her each time he sees her in town, or when she’s confronting him. However, can he accept what she’s done to his life both in the past and now the present she’s brought with her? You will have to read the story to find out. Forever is a novella so it’s not very long but its steamy, and has just enough drama to keep you wanting more.
Short and sweet, as only Harlow Layne can do! In a trope of professor/student, Rowan and Reed hit it off but are caught in fraganti delicto in his office, and Reed loses his post. He breaks up with Rowan in a very ugly manner and blocks her from his contacts and social media. But what he doesn’t know is that he gave her a surprise gift.
Over one year later, Reed finds work at a high school in Rosewood, and surprise! It’s Rowan’s hometown. So it’s time for surprise reveal and all the fun stuff that follows.
This was a lovely and sweet small town story. Reed was initially a jerk but as you read his story, you understand the reasons. It still doesn’t excuse his behavior, initially hostile, then jealous when he hears about her friends. He was embittered but I think knowing he has a daughter gave him a new lease in life. Later on, he’s a decent individual, apologizes nicely and explains his situation. I liked that Rowan teases him unmercifully about how old he is, so he had it coming and had to take it with grace. The attraction between Rowan and Reed explodes again between them. It never went away, it was just on hiatus.
I had a hard time reconciling the nice man at the end with the jerk at the beginning, but he took over his responsibility and was generous with his time and attention. Everyone deserves a second chance, and he learned his lesson. In the end, it was a happy reunion and a happy family.
This is another collaborative work for Ms Layne, along with two additional authors who each write a story for a group of three childhood friends who grew up, and now live, in a small town in Colorado. My first comment is that Harlow is amazing at finding ways to link her stories together, in this case to the Willow Bay series and the Age-gap romance series book, “The Model.” She did this with the Happily Ever Alpha series as well. Not only that, but this is an age-gap romance story as well. This couple has a rocky start as they are caught in a compromising position, professor and student, which has some series consequences for Reed, the professor, as well as for Rowan, the student. Fast forward approximately fifteen months later and their paths cross again. Rowan has some news for Reed which brings their lives together again. Soon after, Rowan’s apartment building has a fire which leaves her homeless and Reed extends th offer of a room until she can get everything sorted out. This is a romance series, so it isn’t hard to guess what happens, but I am not going to spoil it by sharing why and how they get there. It is a pretty quick read and a sweet story. The chemistry between the couple is intense, which is a hallmark of Ms. Layne’s story. I definitely think it is worthy of a few hours of your time. Why don’t you see if you think so too? I am voluntarily submitting this review after receiving an advanced complementary copy of this book.
Omg I love this story so much !! A forbidden, age gap romance that short but sweet with the right amount of steam, drama and entertaining moments.
Rowen and Reed were the complete opposite of each other, while roman had a fun personality full of live, and wasn't afraid to speak her mind , Reed was discreet, grumpy and at moments very annoying.
But opposites do attract and the sensual chemistry between these two got them in trouble from the very beginning of the story resulting in an ugly exchange that made this couple go in different directions... but wait....disteny had other plans.
When Rowen and Reed find each other again things literally go in flames and the secret that Rowan had is now in the open.
Will this couple learn how to forgive each other and live a forever happily ever after?
Rowan was involved with her professor and one time in his office they were caught. Reed is fired from his job, Rowan tries to talk them out of firing him, let him resign instead. Reed breaks things off with her immediately, blocks all incoming communication. Fast forward two months and she finds out she is pregnant with no way to inform Reed of his impending fatherhood.
She moves back to her hometown of Rosewood, she and eight month old Harper are getting by. She is taking pictures of the students at the high school when she sees Reed, he is still blaming her for everything. Even though he is being a jerk she still believes he needs to know that he has a daughter.
There are parts of the book you want slap Reed, why is he blaming her for his downfall? He really should have had to grovel to get back in Rowan's good graces, she is too nice or just too much in love with him. This is the second the three stories of three friends, Evangeline, Rowan and Sydney finding their HEA.

4.5 Stars for Forever ( Rosewood #2) If you love small town romance and second chances at love, this book should certainly be on your radar. This is Rowan and Reed Cavanaugh’s second chance and their story is set in the small town of Rosewood, CO. This may be a quick read but it still packs a mighty punch and it will appeal to a wide range of audiences. Rowan is the girl we would all love in our corner, she speaks her mind, she is sassy and independent but life hasn’t been kind to her but that has only made her stronger. Reed comes across as a grumpy man not interested in a relationship but Rowan holds the key to his heart and when they come face to face again all sorts of feelings come rushing to the surface. Problem is will secrets from the past come back to haunt them and will these two be able to forgive and forget……. This book ticked my boxes, I loved the characters and I enjoyed watching Rowan peel back Reed’s layers as this couple went from enemies to friends and eventually lovers. Great read that I highly recommend.
I am always a huge fan of this authors age gap romances so I knew I would enjoy this when I realized it had the added benefit of professor/student and surprise pregnancy.
We get much drama as Reed and Rowan’s actions have a lot more consequences than they ever expected. Both are forced to start over after their affair is discovered. Neither expecting that they end up in the same town. And Reed never expected a baby…how can he move forward with his plan to ruin the woman who ruin him when she’s the mother of his child?
Rowan was amazing. Strong, tough, resilient and took none of Reeds’ crap. I had mixed feelings about Reed at first but he definitely grew on me. They have tons of chemistry even when it’s angry/hate sex but when feelings start to grow between them it’s H-O-T and romantic.
Overall, I totally enjoyed this story!!! I would definitely recommend this everyone, especially age gap and professor/student fans.
Forever is the 2 books in the Rosewood Novella series. This book starts off with so much steamy fun with Reed and Rowan. But then it all ends suddenly and then Reed becomes a jerk that blocks Rowan from his life. Now Rowan is back home with her parent’s when she founds out that she is pregnant and no way to contact Reed to let him know. But when her parents figure out, she is pregnant and kicks her out of the house so now she is on her own besides her best friends. Then when her daughter Harper is 8 months she runs into Reed while she is doing her photography job. But she knows she must tell Reed about Harper and let him be the father he wants to be. But Reed and Rowan journey is not easy. But Reed definitely takes to fatherhood. And their ending is worth their fight.
The characters are incredible. Harlow Layne give us amazing story. Rowan is remarkable mother who will do anything for her daughter. This is definitely a story worth reading.
𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐓𝐀𝐊𝐄: They may have been apart when they left for college but now they’re back in town and back together. Follow them as they each meet and fall for their happily ever afters.
These were the lines in the blurb that hooked me to this book instantly...there is something about second chance romance that pulls me in and Author Layne gives me all the feels and steamy action under the sheets.
Rowan and Reed had blasted the pages with their chemistry from the first page...the secrets, drama...everything got my attention fully occupied. Reed was that Grumpy broody hero that we all secretly adore...but when he opens up then he loves Rowan to the end of the world. Loving this small town Romance and the heartwarming feeling it gave me.
This is a quick steamy read that tackles a few of my favorite tropes age-gap, taboo/forbidden relationship, surprise pregnancy. This book kicks off with scandal the professor Reed sleeping with his student Rowan which causes an uproar leading to Reed being fired. Reed doesn't handle his downfall well he blames Rowan and acts like it's her fault. Meanwhile she's forced to move back to her hometown where she's supporting herself and her 8mo.old daughter. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You definitely need to read this book to see what happens between Reed and Rowan can he get her back? Will Rowan ever even give him a second chance? Will he step up and be a father to Harper? Grab your copy to find out.

Wow! Harlow starts this book off with a bang! It’s a steamy, age gap, surprise pregnancy romance. Rowan and Reed have history that did not end well. He is grumpy, unhappy with his life and not always likable at times, although he does redeem himself at the end. Rowan is wise beyond her years, sexy, sassy and comfortable in her skin. I love that she is a curvaceous heroine. Rowan and Reed have off the charts chemistry, they definitely heat up the pages. This is a quick, sexy, fun read. As it is a novella, the HEA comes quickly, the drawback to this is that I don’t think Reed groveled enough to get back into Rowan’s life. I think it can be assumed but I really would have like to see it! Advanced copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
A career damaging unthinkable relationship between a Professor and Student. Angry, bitter and alone in a small town where he knows no one. Heart broken, pregnant, and back home only to be disowned by her parents. Unbeknownst to them, they are in the same small town. Rowan and Reed’s undeniable chemistry and storyline captured me from the very beginning and I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. It was a quick easy fast paced read that intertwined an exceptional blend of taboo relationships, significant age gaps, secrets and surprises, small town feels with fabulous friends, heartbreaks, second chances all resulting in a tender, passionate happily ever after. Want so much more of their story.
Well that certainly was a steamy start *fans self*. To use a shameless pun you could say it started with a bang!
Rowan is a voluptuous beauty who, after an I'll fated affair with a college professor, finds herself both dumped and pregnant with no way to let him know she's with child. Fast forward a year and a half, she's returned back home and guess who unknowingly turns up in her home town too?
While this book did have steamy scenes, it wasn't overwhelming like so many are. It wasn't constant, it wasn't grotesque and it didn't leave me rolling my eyes.
The book itself was well written and beautifully edited. It was a pleasure to read.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book was straight and to the point which I love when it comes to a book. Starts off steamy which I also love. Reed and Rowan start with some turmoil and as the book goes on it really shows the love between 2 people and how much when you least expect it something great happens to you.
This book is short and I read it in one sitting and I was glad that I was able to get it done in a short amount of time. The only thing I wish is that there was a little more to the story. But overall a super happy story I couldn't help but love.
Cheers, Harlow Layne, I loved this book and I cannot wait to read the other stories from the other authors in this series!
This is a short insta connection second chance with a twist romance starting off hot snd steamy and the next thing you know I was left in utter shock. I had a lot of whip lash between these two. I was so angry at read for his continuous blame of his career issues when Rowan only wanted to help. I was kept glued on my seat because I needed to see redemption for Reed and the moment they see wah other he tries his best to do all he can for her. It was very sweet with fanning moments and I felt the chemistry with them the more time they spent together. I love how Harlow layne linked this book to another book of hers, I had an aha moment. I received an arc to give an honest opinion.
This was a great book and I could not put it down... so much emotion, heartache and pain. The Hardship of being a single mom, being blamed for something she doesn't know of what... I just want to smack Reed and kiss him at the same time.. he makes me so mad and love him too... I could not go through what Rowan has, she has done all she can to be the best mother and provide all that she can, she has lost so much in such a short time. Rowan is a single mom trying her best to raise her daughter on her own. She tried her hardest to tell Reed she was pregnant but he blocked her from his life and she had no way to contact him. Now after a year she finds him living in her home town
Reed was Rowan’s professor when they are caught in a naughty tryst. Everything goes from bad to worse. Rowan moves back to her hometown and with the help of her friends gets on with her life. Imagine both of their surprise when they run into each other. Reed acts like an immature jerk. Rowan is a strong young woman and knows what’s important. He doesn’t deserve someone as good as her. But somehow they make it work and he finally grows up to be the man he needs to be. They are hot together. I eventually like his character. This is a quick fun read.
