As always, stories connected to World War II touch me deeply. This novel was amazing! Fast-paced...absorbing and absolutely intriguing! It really would make a great movie(...if there isn't one done already:-))
I thought is was a most interesting novel with cinematic potential. as one reads the story , vivid visual responses to the clear prose come to mind certainly convincing me that it would make a very good film.
I like two of Michael Korda’s novels. My favorite is THE FORTUNE, which I have read 5+ times. WORLDLY GOODS is my second favorite; I think I’ve read it twice. I’ve got most or all of Korda’s other novels, but they didn’t really work for me, and I didn’t finish them. WORLDLY GOODS was part of my research for one of my novels which never got finished, and one novel which was finished [I love it, but most readers don’t much care for it—too much sex & violence (or maybe the wrong kind of sex & violence)]. If Korda was trying to top KANE AND ABEL by Jeffrey Archer, he failed; although there is a similarity to the two plots: financial titans at war financially with each other. But Korda’s WORLDLY gets points for weird.
If you want to check out Michael Korda’s novels, I recommend THE FORTUNE. If you want more, go straight to WORLDLY GOODS. That’s my advice. @hg47
very interesting book, made me want to read more. this book also got me hooked to Jeffrey Archer's books.they both used the same style in this book and Jeffrey's Cain and Abel.
