Genie and the Shadow Kings: Three Wish Romance

Rate this book
Nothing ever happens in a genie lamp.

I get my kicks watching the parallel worlds that I am thrown in and out of as I serve my masters. All their wishes are the same. Wealth. Power. Fame. I give it to them and move on because my freedom is never their wish.

These newest three masters are different, and it isn’t because they are half Vampire. They did not mean to rub my bottle and have no desire to collect their wishes. Instead, they want to give them to someone else. Who does that?

They drag me through their world, and for the first time, I am in one place long enough to feel human. A desire for a true life awakens in me, and I can taste my freedom in their touch.

What would it be like to be claimed by three? I will use every trick I know to find out.

A book that is definitely full of adventure. Impossible to not enjoy and love Genie and her adventures. Once you start, there’s no stopping until you get to the end.

A twist on the Genie in the lamp (Aladdin) story. This Genie is not only female but shes also a vital element in a war thats been going on for years. Her 3 Masters - Jade, Kris and Cain have a very noble use of their three wishes but sticking to the plan in the course of this book proves difficult. As well as keeping their hands off of the genie. When i read the blurb for this book i thought it would be a lighthearted romp with a bit of steam. Whilst it is both of those things its much more than that though. Its also about love, loss and family. At points i genuinely felt for Genie. Her loneliness from a lack of companionship was really sad to read. You couldnt help but like her and the relationship with the guys. It was touching and engaging. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a cracking read

**This ARC was given to me in exchange for an honest review**
What a marvelous journey this book was! It grabbed me in the first chapter and didn’t let go till the end, but still has me wishing for more (where is a genie when you need her?!)
This book had so much adventure, a ton of passion, lots of love, and some heartbreak that brought tears to my eyes. It had everything a well rounded book should have to seep into your soul and stay there.
I absolutely loved the men in this book, no complaints here, but Cain really stole my heart. Definitely book boyfriend material.
And there’s no way you can’t love Genie. I loved her humor and spunk. The strength she found in herself as the book went along was great to see. I felt for her throughout the book. She wanted to love, be loved, and be free so bad. I felt what she felt as if I were her myself. That’s when you know you are holding a book of worth. The story flowed in the perfect way.
I commend Gina Manis for her superb writing skills!!
You won’t regret choosing this book as your next favorite read.

This book was so much fun to read. Each of the characters have their own personality that gets portrayed in their own way. The Genie was definitely my favorite read and her thoughts. You get to read between different characters though which is always fun to me since you get their own unique thoughts and scenes.

This next part has some information that is from the Prologue: (Which is something you can read by just clicking on the book so it is not too much of a spoiler). This was a great read though to me and I enjoyed reading it, If you like romance, and fantasy you would like this book.

Jade's brother, Ben, is dead and Jade is to be the next Shadow King. Queen Diana (his brothers wife) tells him they need the Genie and the wishes they will grant. Jade is told to bring the Shadow Knights with him (which there is only 2 other people left, but each of them could be a Shadow King) Kris and Cain, which is why they set out on the Journey to find the Genie (who they were told was to be a male).

Just as beautiful and magical as Genie's lamp!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I read this book the first time and fell in love with Genie. Her innocence plays off against her sassy side perfectly, and her determination to get what she wants (even when she doesn't know exactly what that is) is incredibly entertaining to read.

I read through the book so quickly and loved it so much I felt like I had to re-read it before writing a review. After starting my second read through I started seeing even more depth and detail to the characters and the world than what I had initially noticed.

Every character has a uniqueness and emotional depth that sets them apart and brings them to life. They complement each other without any one character stealing too much of the spotlight. The best way to describe them is that each is like a perfect jewel, with many facets. Like Genie's lamp, the jewels are fascinating and draw your attention. This book is like that lamp, and the character's really are the shining jewels.

This is absolutely a romance story, but unlike in many other books I've read, this Author does not sacrifice plot in place of smut. The actual story outside of the romance between Genie and her master's is just as real and engaging as the romantic build up and emotions between the main characters. The world building is solid, and the way the Author describes locations and creatures, as well as putting her own twist on things like Vampires, make for a very well rounded and complete read. The slow burn build up of the relationships between Genie and each of her men only ever adds to the story, never detracts or distracts.

I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys romance and magic; with a sweet and sassy main character and not one but three gorgeous men you really can't go wrong with Genie and the Shadow Kings!

I was gifted a copy of this audiobook and it was a really great listen! I had also snagged the ebook while I was free so I was able to use the whispersync feature and still highlight the good stuff which was nice ☺️

I haven’t read a good adventure story in a while, so that aspect of this book really hit the spot. I loved Genie’s whimsical and fun attitude, her innocence and desire to learn & love without being too naive (like a young FMC might be) was refreshing too. The three Shadow Knights were similar in the right ways but not cookie cutter cutouts. Cain was my absolute favorite, the mute more-vampire-than-most-Shadows that everyone gives a wide berth but is actually a dirty-minded sweetheart; it made me SO happy that he knew sign & it wasn’t this big deal, he was included and listened to just as much as the others. Kris came in close second, I have a major soft spot for healers and he was the good listener and sweet friend when Genie needed him. Jade was my least favorite but I still liked him in the end; he was hardass out of what he believed to be necessity but he was also fiercely loyal and in the end he apologized in ways most men, even fictional, don’t.

I really enjoyed the dynamics between the three men too — there’s a brief kiss shared during bloodlust but I would not consider this an RH with M/M. It’s also pretty tame for an RH, I would even go so far to say that this was a reverse harem fantasy, with a romantic subplot. There is plenty of sexual tension and the slow burn build up is done *really* well, but there’s very little actual intimacy. Which was a bit surprising since right out of the gate Genie wanted to get laid so badly lol. There were more inner jokes about it than actual sexy time. (It’s also written fairly chastely, with alluding to the acts, polite euphemism, etc.) In fact you don’t really get past a kiss or two until about 80% I think? And then there is one group scene at the end — which was done tastefully.

I also have to say there was some stuff at the end that made me cry. Which doesn’t happen often when reading but sometimes things move me and let’s just say Genie begging them broke me a little bit. I felt her pain and her grief, which I give the author major kudos for.

Honestly it’s 4 stars because when I read RH I am looking for more steam. 🤷‍♀️ Otherwise, no notes!

"I think home is what you love. Where you can be happy. I feel at home now, with you." ~ Genie and the Shadow Kings by Gina Manis

Trigger Warnings: nudity, blood, mentions of sexual violence, sex, death

Genie and the Shadow Kings: Three Wish Romance (Claimed By Three Book 1) by Gina Manis is told from different perspectives, but it ultimately follows Genie. She is an immortal woman bound to whoever rubs her lamp. Despite the vast amount of power she is gifted with and the ability to see a different world each time she is summoned, but she is never truly free. After nine hundred and sixty-six masters, her newest master makes her long for something she always thought would be forever out of her reach. Still, can she have it all? Fulfill the prophecy and save her master's kingdom? Did I mention that she has 3 masters and all are half-vampires?

I have never read anything of this type of story and I found myself greatly enjoyed reading this beginning to the series...It is interesting to read a story that carries elements of vampires, witches, Genies, mordels. To be honest, I glossed over the sex scenes, favoring the narrative more. I found the world intriguing and the characters very interesting. I adore the character of Genie. For someone who is supposed to be hundreds of years old, give or take a few hundred, she exhibits a very modern personality. Very strong-willed and outgoing. I especially love the mention of her flying carpet. A must-have to travel the world.

Overall, I think this was a fascinating start to the series. I am sad about the ending, though I understand why this had to be done this way. I am curious where the second book will take place. I recommend this book to anyone (adults 🤭 that is) whose favorite tropes happen to includes reverse harem, genies, and vampires.

A declaração deles no final... me deu náuseas. Quase vomitei.

Genies and Vampires

Jade is set to become king of the Crystal Kingdom after the death of his brother. Queen Diana, his brothers wife, is a seer and has seen a genie being brought to the kingdom to help save them all. Now he and his two other Shadow Nights Caine and Kris, must search for the genie. What they find may change their lives forever.

I adored this story and was surprised by how different it was. I've read a lot of paranormal romances, but I haven't come across a genie with half vampires before, and I'm thrilled with the outcome. The author did a fantastic job creating a fantasy world and giving us characters that we connect with.

Genie's relationship with Caine was by far my favorite. He is supposed to be this tough guy who is feared for what he is, but with Genie he is anything but that. Kris was also sweet, but took some effort to realize what Genie meant to him and everyone else. Once he realized that, he became a better character. Jade was a little more difficult to like. He loved Diana, but knew she didn't love him back. He would have had her marry him, despite her not loving him, just because he loved her. And he pushed Genie away more than was necessary, even if he did feel duty bound. I think Jade could have grown on me if there were more to his story, but by the time I started to like him, the book was over.

All in all, the book had everything a reader could want. Fantasy, action, romance (reverse harem too!), what's not to love?

I won this Audible in a contest. This was a unique retelling of Aladdin...kinda? It was a high heat, medium spice (if that makes sense), RH romance. Focusing on the Genie who has traveled through alternative universes and her three half-vampire love interests. I wouldn't say that there is M/M content per say...but potential for M/M activities in future books should Gina decide to continue their story.
I like that one of the love interests is mute and used sign language. Writing a character like this can be difficult, but how Cain was portrayed was done very well. It took me a while to get used to the concept, with the Genie having knowledge about modern-day items and bringing them into a Sasanid-like era. But once I got used to the clashing of the different time periods, I found that I really enjoyed this book. There were a few times while listening to the book where I had to stop and thought, "Oh my God! I'm crying!" So I do feel it is fair to say I got emotionally invested in these characters.
The narrator has a great voice. She had a great tone and portrayed the attitudes of the characters nicely. My only feedback would be that while speaking for different characters, to try to differentiate the voices a little more.
All in all, this was a fun read and had a plot twist I didn't expect. I was pleasantly surprised.

DNF - quit at 10%
There is not enough world building in the beginning of this for me to grasp the goings on of the 3 guys & why they are doing what they are doing. One of them being named Jade, confused the heck out of me as I didn’t realize he was male, and the queen kept referring to him in male tense, which didn’t help. I have never heard of it for a man’s name before. When the genie (who doesn’t seem to have a name other than “Genie”) comes into the story at about 5%, she seems a bit dim-witted, and repeats thoughts to herself way to much. I just couldn’t get into this, others may like it & have the patience to keep reading.

At my age (approaching 60), life is way to short & my time is to important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

Dnf 5%. I can tell already this book isn't going to work for me, as it needs a lot of editing. There are periods missing from the ends of sentences, problems with verb tense, and other things like that. There was one issue in particular that made me stop reading though.

When authors switch narration POVs between chapters, some of them fall into the temptation of recapping everything that happened in the previous chapter but from the new POV. That's what happened here, except the author changed some dialogue while doing that recap. In chapter 1, Jade asks the MC, "Are you the genie?" In Chapter 2, we get the genie's POV of this same conversation, except, this time, Jade says, "You're the genie?" This may be a small issue in the grand scheme of things, but that inconsistency combined with the grammar issues convinced me I wasn't going to be able to enjoy this book.

I loved this book. It gave me some Aladdin Vibes. I love how the Genie is a girl. That she has 3 masters instead of one. I couldn’t stop reading even though I had to when I had to go back to work. It made me take a 20 minute break at work instead of 15. I hated having to stop reading it. Genie is a great character. I love how she interacted with her masters. I lied that she was badass in her own way and naive about feelings at the same time. Jade is my favorite out of the masters. I love how my they are all different from each other. Jade the standoff one and the boss. Kris the sweet kind hearted healer. Cain the sweet but not so sweet one. I love how the masters are all part vampire. Can’t wait to read more. Would highly recommended this book.

Magical just like Genie's lamp

Wow! What can I say? This story takes you on a magical mystery tour! You not only get a kicka$$ FMC and 3 bads$$ Male characters, but a super strong storyline that is non-stop. There is action, fighting, vampires, a sacrificing queen, a magic carpet and a lot of emotions!

I thoroughly loved this book. The ending isn't really a cliffhanger, but the next story of a bad vampire from this book. Not sure how you can make him look good at all after reading this story, but when it comes out I plan on reading it.
This is my first time reading this author and it will not be the last. She has a very creative and vivid mind and I look forward to reading more of her work. Highly recommend😊

Genie travels between different worlds as she serves her masters. Her most recent master turns out to be 3 masters. Strange, they don’t seem to want their 3 wishes for themselves. They have to travel to get back to their homeland. Along the way, Genie tries her best to get them to get involved with her. She wants to be more like a human and she’s never been in one location for this long so she begins to fall for them. All of them. There are surprises along the way. This reverse harem romance is addicting. I can’t wait for the next book by this author.

This book is just - magic! Genie, a centuries old ...genie... 😏, has been so sheltered in her lamp, and I love seeing the world she's landed in through her eyes. ❤️ When you're normally only let out a couple of days at a time - why not make the most of it and have all the adventures you can? I made the mistake of starting this book at night, so I finished at 3 a.m. since I got sucked into the story of Genie and her three gorgeous masters, who refuse to get their wishes and just couldn't put it away. Slow burn RH with a lot of growth for the characters that's well worth the wait. ❤️❤️❤️

A Magical Carpet Ride 🧞‍♀️
What an adventure! I felt like I was on a quest with Genie and her three sexy as sin masters. From the desert to a port city to the rough seas to a magical forest. I felt like I was there experiencing the adventure and getting to know the characters. There were even some crazy plot twists that I never saw coming. I’m not usually a fan of slow burn but the tension / chemistry was intense and the reason for it was an integral part of the story.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

One of my favorite stories/movies growing up was Aladdin and so I was drawn to Genie and the Shadow Kings. This story is a fantastic slow-burn RH with magic, adventure, comedy and vampires all thrown in! Genie is persistent to enjoy life and her time with 3 masters, sometimes to the point of getting herself in trouble. A bit of a quick read. I personally would enjoy reading a sequel or longer version of this story diving more into the background of her 3 shadow knights. I loved the HEA with a hint of more to come.

Good

An enjoyable surprise.
When reading the blurb, I was expecting this book to be a little more erotica, and a little less story, but I was intrigued... I was NOT disappointed to find that it was, in fact, more romance story instead.

Mix a little mythology and fairytale, with some vampires and romance, and you get this book. Surprisingly sweet, it tells the story of a genie whose masters are rather more altruistic than one might expect.

More in the nature of high fantasy romance, this enchanting read is one that fans of paranormal romance and fantasy romance will enjoy.

I received an ARC copy of this book and I will give an honest unbiased review.

Very well written the author did not skip a solid plot with filler.
The characters flow together and you can see their growth as the story moves forward.
I love that the genie is a girl and sassy. The men each have their own unique qualities.

I read this so fast that I will go back and read it again because its just that good, I don't want to have missed anything with the first read through.

I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves a little magic with their romance.

I was pleasantly surprised with this work. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it and it took me a bit to get into the story but it was worth it by the end of the story. I enjoyed the work, the multiple points of view, the character growth, and the story line as a whole. I found it to be a great take on the traditional idea we have of genies that we know from pop culture. I loved the story line with the twists and turns.

I give this a five out of five stars.

This story keeps you guessing. Vampires are the evil version. However, Shadows are half breeds and become the protectors of the humans. Down to 3 Shadow Knights, the human city in jeopardy the hope for the Crystal City rests in the Genie prophecy. The 3 Shadow Knights must find them and bring them to the Queen before all is lost.
From the minute they find her nothing goes as planned. Twists turns and finally a startling ending if his adventure of unexpected fun tale of a genie and her Shadows.

Once I started this book, I didn't want to put it down. I was hooked from the beginning. Each character has their own insecurities and the build-up between them is fantastic. I love all of the back and forth between the characters and the adventure that they endure to reach their destination. I don't want to give too much away because it is a must-read!!!! My first for this author and my first for this kind of plot setting.
So I’m so glad to receive this story about our genie in the lamp with her Three masters, Jade, Kris And Cain! Each was a delight getting to learn about them and the slow burn to their fantastic attraction.
The journey was entertaining and I think you’ll like this story since it does keep you reading until the last page! I loved it.

Really Sweet Read

This is my first read by Gina and I must say I really enjoyed it.
Genie stayed having me in my emotions, I just wanted to jump in the book and give her a hug.
I wanted to fight Jade lol. I could see both sides of where he was coming from but.....(just but)
Kris and Cain. Cain was mt fave of the 3.
As the story progressed I was just like "NO WAY are you for real"
The world building was great.

Really enjoyable.

I loved this and really enjoyed this new version of the tale. A genie serving her masters on different worlds def upps the Aladdin story to the next level. This time she is around her masters for much longer than usual. She starts to fall for them which causes a whole new set of experiences and problems.
I am looking forward to Book 2

I loved this book, I didn't want to put it down! Each character has their own hesitancy around the genie, you want to see them give in and get everything they desire for themselves and the kingdom. I absolutely loved the Genie’s perspective on the world around her, her silliness, and how she decorated her lamp. Her persistence with her masters is great, adding so much to their adventure. I highly recommend this book.

Kris, Cain, and Jade are such wonderful complex characters. Their past defines who they are and how they handle situations. Genie is the cutest thing in how she interacts with them and those around her. This book was very well put together in terms of storyline and backstory. Would definitely recommend

Genie is just brilliant. I love her so much. She’s innocent and sassy and she reminds me a lot of myself honestly. This book was so well done! I loved every second of it. It was so well written and the character development is amazing and I really really can’t wait to read more. I need more genie in my life! Lol
