Expands deeper into the world of Schwab’s critically acclaimed Villains novels.
After surviving a deadly crash, Charlotte Tills becomes “ExtraOrdinary”, gaining the ability to foresee a person’s death. But when she looks into her own future, only the face of notorious EO killer Eli Ever stares back!
VICTORIA “V. E.” SCHWAB is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of more than twenty books, including the acclaimed Shades universe, the Villains series, the City of Ghosts series, Gallant, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue and The Fragile Threads of Power. When not haunting Paris streets or trudging up English hillsides, she can usually be found in Edinburgh, Scotland, tucked in the corner of a coffee shop, dreaming up monsters.
Four stars because Victor appears and the detail from the books (yes I'm crying), but not five stars FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE WITH HIM (aka the drawing style)
This was basically a recap of what happened in Vicious but from Eli’s perspective. Experiencing it in a graphic novel format was super fun and lowkey makes me want to go back and reread Vicious all over again.
It was sooooooooooo good to have a visual representation of the events that go down in Vicious! I absolutely love the dynamic between Victor and Eli and how so very twisted they are. I wonder if people will be able to understand what's going on if they haven't read the books. Anyways, I see a lot of people disappointed for it being a short graphic version of Vicious, for me it was actually what I liked best (candy for the fans). To be able to see some of the most epic, defining scenes for these characters, alongside the most epic quotes. I'm so ready for more!
VICTOR AND ELI CONTENT. This first one is mostly just a rehashing of what we already know - though it’s interesting to see how Eli remembers it and where their stories slightly differ.
I really like the art style but sad that Eli and Victor look… like that.
“I tried to tell you, Victor. But you wouldn’t listen. We are proof of the divine. And an affront to God.”
Issue 1 of ExtraOrdinary introduces Charlotte's antagonist, Eli Ever, an imprisoned hunter of ExtraOrdinaries. The issue adapts moments from the novel Vicious, but there is also some new content as well as Eli's internal monologues that weren't a part of Vicious. The issue is Eli's past anddd life in a nutshell, and it does a good job explaining who he is, what he wants, what he thinks of EOs, and how he siis himself, his role and his mission as an EO hunting other EOs. I also loved seeing him and Victor again, both during their time in university and later on as arch enemies. I love the relationship between the two of them, and I died a little bit at this quote from Eli: “I’d always been good at reading people, but you – you were something else.”
I only have one complaint. The art style is dynamic and exciting, and I like it, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the interpretations of Victor and Eli. They were young men back in university, but the art made them look like 40-year-old musclemen. It didn't fit the way I imagined them at all, which irked me a little bit.
I can't wait to see how this story continues and how Eli's story will intertwine with Charlotte's. I'm also eager to see what Victor's role in this series is going to be!
Fast paced and action packed! This book is about a girl who had an obsession with the concept of death. While riding a school bus on a class trip there was an accident where she suffered a brain injury and survived. Now she can see everyone’s death. Great graphic novel for a fast entertaining read!
This comic was enjoyable and well paced. This is my first ever V.E. Schwab book ever but I really enjoyed the characters and storyline too. I enjoy how the powers were created through a characters death and then being revived with their powers. Charlotte discovering her power is grim but it’s intriguing how she can see how people will die and it’s interesting how she can see Eli watching her. I do wonder what Victor will do in the sequel. Overall a fun time.

"When no one understands that is usually a good sign that you are wrong." It was so cool to see the villains story in comic form. It's fun to see other perspectives of how the characters look. This was a well-done comic and very enjoyable! I am looking forward to how Charlotte's story will continue!
This makes me want to read my copy of Vicious…! I should stop procrastinating and just do it already haha! I really enjoyed this. :) The characters were interesting and I cared about them even after only a few pages. Loved it. Looking forward to more!
Poor Charlotte! Things are going to get worse before they get better! Must read more now! And I'm reading the collection, so I don't know where this one ends, but oh, did they change a few things from the first book!
I LOVED THIS SO MUCH. I SWEAR I WILL NEVER FORGET THE FIRST TIME I READ VICIOUS. IT BECAME THE BEST BOOK I EVER READ. IM SO HAPPY V.E. SCHWAB DOES WHAT SHE LOVES. I LOVE HER AND HER WORLDS SO MUCH.
