Wrangler Dragon

Rate this book
Save a horse, ride a wrangler dragon...

Tucker C. Thompson, an immortal dragon and legendary gunslinger, is now a simple wrangler who enjoys life on the ranch under his middle name, Clancy. The world has moved on and he's happy to be forgotten. That is, until he sees his old Dragon's Talon coin in an antiques shop in a tiny town. He wants to buy it back from the feisty, curvy redheaded shopkeeper, but she's not selling. Turns out, she's obsessed with the legend of who Clancy used to be. But after Clancy shows up in time to save her from danger, she accepts his proposition: come to Dragonclaw Ranch, and get a real Tucker Thompson experience with one of his descendants. The only problem? His inner monster, who seems to think this interesting woman should be his.

Billie Belladonna Palmer has one dream: to make a Tucker Thompson museum to make sure her favorite gunslinger isn't forgotten. So even when the handsomest man she's ever seen shows up, bearing a slight resemblance to Tucker's wanted posters, she isn't going to give up her prized coin. But then the emerald-eyed man offers something she can't pass up, and soon enough she finds herself on Dragonclaw Ranch, riding horses and getting shooting lessons from a descendent of the legend himself. But before long, she can't help getting closer to sexy, mysterious Clancy. And thinking that maybe the real treasure is time with him, in his arms and his heart.

As the two enjoy a wild west adventure, men with bad intentions are searching for Clancy's coin. The past Clancy ran to the west to escape is also catching up to him, with dangerous effects. Clancy and Billie will have to learn to rely on each other and open their hearts to more than they ever imagined, if they want to survive an encounter with something far worse than even a titanic basilisk.

Swamp dragons, a gunslinger from the Wild West, and an obsessed fangirl for said gunslinger.

I’m noticing a pattern of convenience in none of these women leads having friends or family to really be attached to when they meet these cowboy dragons and inevitably share a vaguely immortal lifespan with them. That coupled with a lack of lore and world building just makes any magical happenstance painfully convenient.

This being the last dragon story we’re seeing, though, I’m curious to see what the author does to bring human women to the other cowboys. For these first three stories, the catalyst has been dragon talons.

A human woman has one in her possession, she’s owed a favor, it brings her to her dragon mate, the story plays out from there.

We have yet to hear about what the tiger or wolf equivalent is and we hardly see Dallas very often. A lot of work is going to need to be done for the final two books.

There’s not much I can say about this story without feeling repetitive. There’s a very strict formula the author uses for all of the stories in this series (so far).

CW: explicit sexual content, violence, blood, murder, death

So we get to learn Clancy's fancy story.  Well, is not that fancy, it follows the same idea that we saw in the previous book.  Breck thought that a mountain dragon didn't deserve a mate, and Clancy things that swamp dragons don't have a mate, mostly because that's what he was taught.  Swamp dragos are beasts and enjoy fighting, because of that he has a very negative view of himself, he only sees the bad parts of himself, not the good he has done.  Some of it changes when he finds his mate, who turns out to be a big fan of who he used to be during his wild west days.

It follows the same lines, they meet, they fall in love, something happens to drive them away, but they realize they belong to each other, there is a fight and then everything falls back in place.  I have to admit that the fight at the end was pretty epic, and we got to find a little more secrets around the place.

The book is very easy to read and pretty enjoyable, and it's one of the characters in this series I like the most.

Animal Whisperer🤩

Clancy is hiding a small bit of his history from his crew...all they know is what type of dragon he is. When he stumbles into an antique shop in a small town not far from the Dragonclaw Ranch, he’s surprised to see his dragon talon in the shop.....now just to convince the owner and sexy woman, Billie, to return it to him😳

Loved Clancy and Billie’s story as there were a few surprises😁 I enjoyed on one hand Clancy’s animal whisperer ways and gentlemanly attitude and on the other his kick butt attitude when it came to other shifters and Billie’s determination with regards her history obsession❣️A not to be missed story in this series which I loved and I’m looking forward to Dallas next😍

I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review❤️

Wrangler Dragon is the third title in the Texas Dragons series — and wow! I have to admit that I haven’t chuckled this much over a clueless, stubborn dragon in a long, long time.

Clancy never thought he’d see his talon coin again, yet here it was right on display for the world to see. The coin represented his past, what he once was, how he’d acted back then in an effort to survive. A past he wasn’t proud of but he still stood here today, so many years later, alive and determined to purchase that talon coin and put his past right back where it belonged. Unfortunately, the feisty woman who now owned the coin wasn’t the least bit interested in selling – no, she was more interested in immortalizing a gun-slinging outlaw and a past that Clancy fears he will never outrun.

So, what’s a world-weary, ancient dragon to do? Perhaps offer a trade for something she’d want even more. Trouble is, Billie might want to hear all his “old” stories about an ancestor, but that so-called ancestor’s dragon kept insisting that they’d finally found their mate. And she was in some serious trouble right now thanks to that coin.

I had an absolute blast with Wrangler Dragon. Billie is adorable in her hero-worshipping of the man Clancy once was, but watching this strong, stubborn woman begin to fall in love with the present, with the same man right in front of her right now was such fun. Clancy might be a smart, ancient swamp dragon but when faced with a stubborn, sexy mate he’s facing something he’s never had to before… his own emotions, and his fated mate.

The danger they’ll face will have you on edge as we learn more of what is coming for them. I love how Terry Bolryder can always toss a surprise into a story at just the right moment, it’s one of the reasons she’s a go-to author for a good Shifter Romance story. I enjoyed being back in this world, can see how it’s probably going to grow… and I can’t wait for that. If you love a good Shifter Romance full of laughter, danger, and sizzling sexiness then you’ll love Wrangler Dragon.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Maybe too much dragon cowboy hokiness in this one...

📚 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲: Shifter romance, cowboy romance

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Clancy has lived hundreds of years in the wild West of Texas. Before his life on Dragonclaw Ranch, he was a legendary hero, but now he hopes people have forgotten about him. Until he meets Billie, a woman obsessed with the legend of the Quickdraw Dragon.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: Ok I literally want to punch myself for writing this but hey, I'm embracing my weird. I think this book was much more cheesy than the others. I didn't like the female main character, and the "yeehaw-ness" of it all made me roll my eyes a ton. I wasn't as in love with it as the other two.

But next comes the tiger Dallas so of course I'm continuing.

Clancy is Dragon claw's wrangler of horses with a heroic past as a notorious gunslinger, although he has left that part of himself in the wild west along with his discarded dragon talon. He never thought he'd hear or see the evidence of his time as Quickdraw Dragon Tucker Thompson. That was before he stumbled across Billie and her obsession with said Quickdraw Dragon and the resurfaced Dragon talon. Clancy thought he was talented with taming the savage beast, he finds out that Billie is even better at wrangling savage beast than he is. A great story. I love getting lost in these stories of dragons and cowboys.

This is an OK addition to the Texas Dragons series, but I did have one BIG issue with it. The author needs to research how people in Texas talk, because she has them talking as if they have absolutely no education, and constantly use bad grammar. Very few people in Texas actually say "Howdy, pardner", "I ain't" instead of "I'm not", call women "Darlin", etc. As a native Texan, I found it insulting that she wrote her characters as if all Texans talk like hicks with little to no education. That issue, along with my dislike of Billie's childish behavior, was enough to lower my rating to 2 stars.

This book is about Clancy and Billie. Clancy was likable, and it was sad how he had sacrificed so much to help others, always thinking he could never get really close to anyone -- since he thought his dragon could put them in danger.

Billie was hard for me to like. First, because she talked like a country hick, but also because she acted like a child in a woman's body. It bothered me that she was so childish, and I honestly wondered how Clancy (with his many years of life experience) could find her attractive. I get that she was his mate, so he automatically loved her, but I found her behavior annoying and silly. She did get a little better as the story went on, but not enough for me to ever like her very much.

In spite of my issue with the way the characters talked, and my irritation with Billie's childishness, I did enjoy the story. I'm looking forward to reading the next one in the series. This book can be read standalone, but I think readers will enjoy it more if they read Terry's Double Dragons series first. The books in this series should also be read in order, since they contain plot lines that extend through the entire series.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

I am so loving the adventures of the crew at Dragonclaw ranch and they just seem to be getting better with every addition to this series This series seem to have more of the feel of Terrys older series and i don't mean that in a negative way I have loved all of the dragon's so far but I have to say dandy Clancy has been my favourites

Tucker C. Thompson (Clancy) is swamp dragon and after escaping his family he made his way through the wild west as a gunslinger everyone knew about the Quickdraw Dragon but as danger followed him with people trying to make their name by bringing him down he retreated to Dragonclaw ranch throwing his dragon talon away on the way as he believes it brings nothing but bad luck Then when wandering into a antique shop he sees his coin sitting there determined to get it back he is stunned when Billie the owner refuses to sell it. Can he convince her to give it to him even though she wants it has a centrepiece for a museum about the Quickdraw Dragon a deal i struck he will tell her about his ancestor if she thinks about returning the coin Now the coin is true to form bringing danger but nothing Cody can't handle That is until his past with his family raises its ugly head and assistance comes from an unexpected source. Can he survive will Billie forgive him for driving her away and can they have a future together You will have to read to see

Clancy and Billie - a swoony big hearted damaged hero and the woman who loves him

Dragons and cowboys is a perfect mix and Clancy - phew, he’s dreamy. This is book 3 in the Texas Dragons series. I love damaged big hearted heros and the strong women who love them. Clancy is a swamp dragon who keeps to himself and stays on Dragonclaw Ranch. He believes he’s dangerous and unworthy. Before he lived on the ranch, he was an infamous Wild West do gooding gunfighter named QuickDraw Dragon. Billie works at her family’s antique shop and collects QuickDraw Dragon memorabilia. She has just purchased the pride of her collection, the dragonclaw coin that she knows belonged to the QuickDraw Dragon. Clancy wanders into her shop and tries to buy the coin but Billie refuses. This leads to them spending time together and Clancy recognizing her as his mate. On the way to their HEA, Clancy and Billie experience sweet moments, strong families, fan your face sexy times, dangerous situations, and loving shifter families. Expect to feel all the feels. There is growth for both the main characters, though much more for Clancy than Billie, as he lets his past and his belief about his inherent nature go in order to embrace a new loving relationship and their future together. I will definitely keep reading more of this series.

Action packed dragon shifter PNR

While this could be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend that the series be read in order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers as there are reoccurring characters and overarching themes.

Contains subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence such as assault, threatening, and fighting with some to the death.

There are some grammatical issues. Mainly extra / missing words, such as “it”, “is”, “a”, etc.

⛔️ If you have not read the previous stories in the series, the following may contain spoilers.

Last chance …

The storyline / plot has so much potential, but there were a couple of items not addressed for me. Mainly what is the story behind Billie’s family and the QuickDraw Dragon.

How does her family know he was an actual dragon if her’s is not the family highlighted in the Prologue? If they are not her family, then why have the Prologue at all? I don’t think it is needed to demonstrate how Clancy does everything to curtail problems for others, as that is properly documented throughout.

The interaction between Billie and Clancy demonstrates the chemistry between the two of them. Terry Bolryder also did a good job of world building, especially if reading all of stories in the series.

This has been a wonderful read totally riveting and enjoyable
I have enjoyed all of the other books in this series so far and this was just as enjoyable and I cannot recommend it enough to other readers. Clancy is a southerner and also has a hidden talent that of being a dragon shifter who is also a animal wrangler on Dragonclaw ranch.
This story totally drew me into the story and I was not able to put this book down once I started reading this book the description in the book is simply wonderful and as well as fantastic characters the actual plot was simply captivating and once started it was simply impossible to put this book down.
There are plenty of one liner and happy and jokes and funny interludes and it was also wonderful to actually meet up with some of the other characters from previous books and this was The witty ones liners, the little in jokes and of course a dragon trying to win his soul mate make the whole book a hugely enjoyable read.one of moments within these pages.
I’m so looking forward to Dallas’s story next.
I highly recommend this book to future readers and new readers alike.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Swamp dragon meets his mate

Clancy, known famously as Tucker C. Thompson, the QuickDraw Dragon, ends his gunslinging career by fading out of sight and joining two other dragons, a tiger shifter and an alpha wolf shifter on Dragonsclaw Ranch in Texas.
Belladonna, better known as Billie, runs an antiques shop with a dedicated love for the saga of Quickdraw Dragon, collecting everything about him from the time she was a tot with the intention of opening a museum honoring him. The pinnacle trophy of her collection was the prized dragon’s claw coin, only one of a few in existence and treasured for the knowledge that the one holding it could claim a ‘favor’ from the famous dragon.
Everyone wants the coin and is willing to bend all rules to possess it, but Clancy knows it simply means bad luck to any that holds it and tries to bargain for it when Billie refuses to sell it to him, unaware he is actually the famous dragon all the fuss is about.
If you are into hunky cowboys and like stories about dragon shifters, you are going to love this story. It hits all the high marks and leaves you wishing you could find yourself a dragon shifter of your own. Keep a fan handy during the love scenes. HOT and YUMMY.

Wrangler Dragon is the third book the Terry Bolryder’s Texas Dragons series. It is a fantastic paranormal romance filled with interesting characters, a great storyline and a happily ever after.

A jinxed dragon talon coin, nefarious men, a mysterious family member and a gigantic basilisk all collide when Clancy’s past and present meet. But will Tucker Clancy Thompson, an immortal dragon and legendary gunslinger turn wrangler be able to keep his mate, Billie Palmer and his friends safe when disaster strikes? Read it and find out.

I loved reading Clancy’s story. His character in the other books has always intrigued me and Bolryder does a fantastic job writing his story and depicting his struggles over the years. The chemistry between Clancy and Billie was amazing and I truly enjoyed watching how close they became as they interacted with all the animals. Truly a fated match. I can’t wait to read the Dallas and Reno’s books.

This is a voluntary review of a reader’s advance copy from the author.

Action and endearing characters

Wow! I really like this series. You can read this story on its own, but you get much more from these if you read the series in order, so I recommend doing that. Clancy hides his dragon as well as who he was in the Wild West. Billie is a huge Quickdraw Dragon fan who won't think of giving up the talon that she just got. But that talon draws trouble, the kind that only Clancy can take on. And this is just in the first few chapters!

The pace is fast and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character and action oriented storyline that has some steamy scenes. The characters are vibrant and engaging. I am anxious to read the next one, but then will have to wait for the last one...sigh! These dragons are different from other dragon shifters that I have read, but in a very cool way. It is intriguing to see some other ideas for them. Plus I almost always love a story by Terry Bolryder. If all this sounds good to you, start with book 1 Cowboy Dragon and keep going until you get to this. Enjoy!

In his past, swamp dragon, Tucker C. Thompson, was a gunslinger that helped settle the west but local lore said possession of his dragon’s talon token would give the holder control over him. Tired of lives lost and challenges of the life, Tucker took the offer to work at Dragonclaw ranch and go by his middle name, Clancy, to live in peace.

Shopkeeper Billie Palmer’s dream was to build a museum to honor her hero, Tucker Thompson and when she got his talon token, she was ready to plan the opening. Browsing the shops in town, Clancy wanders in Billie’s shop and sees the token but Billie’s unwilling to part with it and seems to be impervious to Clancy’s immeasurable charm.

But Billie’s not the only one enamored of legendary Tucker Thompson, Clancy quickly remembers how bad luck always seemed to follow his dragon talon token, especially when a threatening browser happens in Billie’s shop. Unfortunately for a bully and his thugs, Clancy’s at Billie’s family home when trouble knocks on her door at midnight.

4.5 solid stars

I just want to say that I dislike western/cowboy stories and will only read them by authors I love. The vurnacular used just irritates me and I find no joy in reading it.

Billie and her obession with Tucker Thompson, the Quickdraw Dragon, is what starts this story and the glue that keeps this story together. Clancy has tried to move on from his past but it has finally caught up with him in more ways than one. These two were meant for one another, if Clancy can stop trying to protect everyone.

The story is pretty dang good and the characters are great but the shining star in this book is the basilisk. There is a story behind these gigantic beasts and I am really looking forward to seeing what it is. Reno and Dallas get some great page time and their books can not come soon enough.

Terry Bolryder is an excellent crafter of stories and they are all worth a read (even the cowboy ones).

As with any of Terry Bolryder's books you're not going to want to put this book down. I just loved Clancy and Billie's story. I thought Billie was a mixture between shy, innocent and a pitbull. Not that she was mean or vicious. But that she was iincredibly brave when it was needed for someone she loves. The whole story was just exceptional. However, I will tell you that starting at the first book in this series is the only way to go. I mean, why take a taste of your of your favorite dessert when you can have a full serving? If you love paranormal romance then you simply can't not love Bolryder's books. It's a scientific fact! (Okay, I may have just thrown that in there for a little drama). I'm just saying, if you love paranormal romance and you haven't got every single book this author has written, you are seriously missing out.
Remember, if you want to read a book you can't put down, you have to pick it up first.

Clancy (Tucker) & Billie

He would never have a mate. He watched his friends settling down with their mates. Then he met Billie. His dragon recognized her as his but Clancy knew better no matter how much he wanted her. Still, when some big men were threatening her he knew what he had to do. When he realized what was at the bottom of the threats he tried to remove it but she refused. It was attached to her old west hero and she'd never let it go.

He knew a lot about this hero and promised to share stories if she'd come out to the ranch for a stay. Win-win. She gets her stories and he gets to spend time with her.

We all know it is gonna be a love story--cowboy gets the girl--provided he can protect her and stay alive. Great worldbuilding, wonderful characters, strong female, strong but tender male, then add it as a cowboy dragon--what more could you want. As a fan of the author cowboys and shifters, this is just my cuppa! I'm sure it will be yours.

Love a Rancher Dragon

Clancy seems to be a nonchalant, easy-going guy. But he has his secrets and layers that he does not reveal to anyone, not even his close friends.

All that changes when he meets Billie because he is trying to get his dragon token from her. To him, that token only brings bad things. But to Billie, there is so much history and she feels it brings her closer to the legend behind the token.

No matter how much Clancy tried to close off his heart, when the dragon in him finds his mate, nothing will keep them apart!

I liked Billy because she had such a good personality and genuinely seemed like a fun person to be around. Plus, I liked her enthusiasm. She was a good fit for Clancy because she balance him out. They went well together.

Glad to see all the cowboy dragons getting their happy ever after stories and I am eagerly awaiting the stories for the remaining ranch hands.

Wrangler Dragon by Terry Bolryder
Texas Dragons #3

“As long as you’re with me, I’ll protect that heart. That goodness in you that I ain’t seen in another person for as long as I’ve lived.”

I have adored this series so far and I some how knew that Clancy’s story was going to be one to be a little bit more mysterious. In the previous books we learn that Clancy is a swamp dragon and isn’t really to fond of his past or his dragon and this book puts all the whys together all mixed up with a little love.

Clancy has a story the old as time and is quite well known from his past life but he thought that it had all past on and memories of him before where becoming few and far between. So when he strolls in to a little antique shop in a town over the last thing he expects to find is his Talon and a beautiful young women who is absolutely obsessed with Tucker C. Thompson and has many story about him.

Billie has been obsessed with Tucker for as long as she can remember, and after hearing her families story she starts collecting every little thing about him to help bring awareness to the marvellous man. But then one day his ‘descendent’ walks in and saves her and his stories throw her world upside down. The chemistry between then is huge but the strong selfless person she’s getting to know has big secrets and when she finds them out, it almost changes everything.

I absolutely loved this book and I can wait to read the next in the series.

Such a good story

The reason I really enjoyed this story was because there were some surprises that I really did not see happening. The biggest surprise involved the basilisk. Billie is a woman who takes risks and really surprises her mate with what she is willing to do. I love that she is such a strong character. The fight over the dragon coin is ridiculous its not like the dragon is forced to do whatever just because you have the coin I does not give the person with the coin total control over the dragon. Not really sure why they want it so bad. I love the games they play and I fall in love with the characters more with each book. Gary cracks me up. I am waiting for Gary to be a shifter! Enjoy the world that Terry has created you won't be disappointed.

This was my favorite of the bunch, following Clancy and Billie. Billie is obsessed with a gunslinger, Quickdraw Dragon, who just happens to be Clancy, although he left that life a while ago. Of course, the Dragon's Talon fits into this but a little peripherally- Billie wins the talon in an auction, Clancy, who thinks it is bad luck, tries to get her to give it to him and then has to save her as people are trying to get the coin. I'm not sure that this part of the story was adequately covered. Then there's the other aspect of what kind of dragon Clancy is and how his past gets him in trouble. I loved seeing more of the basilisk and am chomping at the bit to get his story but I still want to get through all these Dragonclaw characters!

cool story for Clancy the Dragon

This is book three in the series so it’s nice to continue reading the series. Each book is a different couple but the other characters are important in the story telling. The entire group is a family by choice. Clancy is a swamp dragon that does not believe that he deserves love or a mate. The storyline is so similar to book 2 but keep reading because later 50 percent mark in the book Clancy’s talents-differences make an appearance and keeps the story interesting enough to continue. Billie aka Belladonna is a riot. She a super fan of QuickDraw Dragon and has just purchased his old Dragon coin. The coin is highly sought after and begins causes problems for Billie. The story takes off from there. . . . Read On!

cheesiest one in the series by far

I know these books are kind of ridiculous, it’s why I love them, but something about how Billie was written in the beginning just made me so absolutely twitchy. She was written like a 10 year old caricature and it was just so uncomfortable until Bolryder kind of … lost that partway through.

Aside from that this book was cheesy, over the top, and nonsensical, just like the others, but also way more so? And also kind of contradictory to things from books one and two? Harder to enjoy than the others, for sure, but I still flew through it. Do what you want with that info (unhelpful, I know) but I probably won’t read the next two. This one was just too much.

It did have the most dragon though.

Family usually is a pain in the butt!

Always thinking that he wasn't worth anything, then finding his mate, that thought so very much of the character he'd lived for so long, so many years ago that she wanted to make a museum about him! Then discovering that he wasn't the last Swamp Dragon 🐉, and and that family became a big pain in the butt, almost killed him then he had to be saved by an unexpected ally and the love of his life! A great read and very interesting storyline! Can't wait for the next one!!!

A great addition to the series

This was a terrific story, and it was great learning more about Clancy's secrets regarding his past, as well as his dragon. The only thing that I had an issue with was that there was one set of trouble that started, then a different one came around, which was fine, except that there was no conclusion to what happened with the first one. It's like a bigger threat came along and the first one was forgotten about. Unfortunately, this has happened more than once in this series.
Overall, it was a great story, and one that everyone will enjoy.
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.

Aburrido.

Ella me pareció ridícula. Tantos años de desear esa moneda y consideró a la hora de tenerla en intercambiarla a un desconocido, y encima no por dinero, sino por... Una visita guiada e historias sobre un pistolero. Y demasiado confiada. Muy ridículo todo.

Another awesome read by Terry! This is Clancy and Billie’s story and let me tell you it does not disappoint! He’s such a laid back, charming, and strong dragon and she’s an independent and strong willed woman. They are so perfect for each other! He has issues from the past about his dragon and Billie helps him see things the way she sees them. Great characters and wonderful storyline! Absolutely love this book and the series! Highly recommend! Received arc and am voluntarily leaving an honest review
