What an eclectic mixture of lgbtq sci-fi Romance stories! Some of the stories were beyond hot, spicy, and amazing while others were sweet in romantically full of tension. I love that you get to try out several different authors and see which ones you loved I want to read more of their other books in the future. Get ready to read some outstanding authors!
The Alien’s Zookeeper by Arizona Tape and Skye MacKinnon
Disembowelment sounds painful whether you are a humor or an alien - just saying.
Alien abducts a girl and they fall in love. Sounds simple right? Well Skye MacKinnon and Arizona Tape put their own twist on it by adding animal rights and the black market. I love Tilly’s feistiness even in the midst of the unknown. MacKinnon and Tape provide action, chemistry, and some adorable and funny animal moments in this story. I cannot wait for this series to continue.
Renegade by Céline Glaude
Whew! Céline Glaude jams action, betrayal, death, and a little romance into Renegade. What starts out as a quick trip to deliver some goods ends up with Federation Captain Adaliz Xiary defending damsels, in the middle of a gun fight, and being blown up. Glaude has hooked me with Renegade, a book in the “New Evolutions” series.
A Brand New Day by Tami Veldura
Tami Veldura takes readers on a mind trip in A Brand New Day. Veldura leaves it up to the reader to make their own conclusions. I made none except for when it ended, “that is messed up!” Veldura takes us into an episode of the Twilight Zone and I want to read more.
Meeting on alien planets or spaceships, through mate lotteries or by chance, the characters in these stories of aliens and humans, alphas and omegas, are all finding love throughout the universe. Below is a review of one of the books to give you an idea of what you might expect to find, although the variety offered here will amaze you!
*** “THE ALIEN’S KIDNAPPED OMEGA” by Sienna Sway *** This story was a short, fast-paced prequel for a series that will be coming out later.
As leader of the “first contact mission”, Alex Webber’s job was supposed to be easy, just meet a council member of the alien people of Mukhana and leave. Not much room for error, right? This was the first mission he was leading. Meeting the Nassa in person, he realized they were well over 6 feet tall and appeared as half reptile/half humanoid, with scales, claws, ridged areas around shoulders and back, and a tail.
They began walking to the meeting place in the city with the aliens who had met them, Saar taking up the rear position. Just as Blaine, Alex’s supervisor, was saying they should have taken security guards with them since the aliens might actually be unfriendly and ready to eat them, a sudden puff of air on his neck made Alex jump in alarm. Saar had his head tilted with a perplexed look, but didn’t explain his behavior. He also sat extra close to Alex at the meeting. When asked why the humans had come, Alex said they were offering them protection and a chuckle went through the room. Another sniffed Alex’s neck and they acted offended at the humans being there. Apparently they are blaming Blaine for bringing the unmated omega into their midst. Alex insisted he and Blaine were doing their job since they “always” went into places to speak to locals and establish a positive relationship. Saar was dismayed to hear that, and even more upset when Alex said everyone from Earth has to work to survive and he chose to come here. The entire room of aliens was appalled at his words! Telling his father, the First Alpha of the council, that he must do what is right, he grabbed Alex and leaped over the fire and through a hole in the ceiling, while sounds of a struggle came from the room below.
Getting kidnapped and carried into the night was not the expected outcome of this mission. They still had no idea why the dominant barbarian Nassa species reacted as they did. Even so, Alex’s captor, the muscled Saar Nassia, is acting respectfully toward Alex, but why does he keep calling him an “omega”?
Still confused, Alex worries about Saar because he is sure a fleet of army ships will be coming after him, yet Saar has treated him well and doesn’t deserve to be injured. As for Saar, he couldn’t understand how the humans could allow unmated, unprotected omegas to mingle with Alphas throughout the universe. Regardless, he knew Alex was his. And Saar will keep his omega safe and protected, even if it leads to war with the humans! Uh-oh…
I enjoyed the impressive world-building the author brings to the story. Will Alex be able to explain things to calm Saar down? And what will Alex’s fate be if Saar is prepared to claim him?
This review is for Sadie Marks’s contribution to this anthology: Close Encounters. This short story is a beautiful introduction to Thom/Dez and Wik at their very start. Poignant and tender, exciting and intimate, I really enjoyed how Wik guided his relationship with Thom, all while balancing his need for secrecy. Just a beautiful short story - I’d love to read more of their world! This review is for The Alien’s Kidnapped Omega - Sienna Sway. This short story is really just the start of a larger story. It’s a bit disappointing; the story and the alien world sound fascinating, but as a stand alone short story in an anthology, it’s a bit lacking. It’s scheduled at the start of next year to be a full length story, so that’s promising.
In Sadie Marks' Close Encounters, Thom is a bartender at a kink club, where he is an alpha sub when he plays. He has become jaded after being treated badly by his last committed Dom. When Wik walks in, his interest is piqued. When they begin a relationship that night, both men are hooked. As Wik's time visiting the city nears its end, both men want to find a way to be together forever. Their HEA is a thing of beauty. This is a thoughtful story that I really enjoyed. The men's relationship heals Thom, and Wik is sure to take his time with him. Definitely a five star story, just as I've come to expect from Sadie Marks.

First day in new job, could have gone better. Alex was on his mission, first time as the mission lead first contact specialist. He unexpectedly, triggered a surprise response in one of the Nassa, Saar. Saar, surprisingly took action, that affected both planets. Cultural misunderstandings lead to predictable decisions that are totally wrong. Inadvertantly funny story, while the characters are getting acquainted. Alex is a bit of a light weight, for a diplomat. Do Alex and Saar ever get on the same page? Do they get to understand each other's cultures? Can they find a reasonable solution? Can Alex embrace his Omega as seen by the Nassa? Does Alex ever get back to earth? Nice story, sad that it ends in a cliffhanger! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
There are a broad range of alien encounter stories in this collection. Some have similar aspects but most approach from very different directions. Overall, the book was very good and I will definitely be reading the next books. I knocked off a point for a few typos that would have likely been overlooked but mainly because one story just didn’t belong. It was not a romance and definitely not a HEA. It felt like a psychological movie that ends but you find out it was all a head game and will never really end. I just didn’t see why they put it in a romance collection.
The Alien’s Kidnapped Omega by Sienna Sway was a short yet fast paced prequel.
Alex’s first contact mission goes sideways when things get out of hand. As he tries to understand the culture and what’s happening; he finds him falling further down the rabbit hole. He ends up getting a lot more than he bargained for.
I’m intrigued by the world the author created. I’m looking forward to the release of the main book in Jan 2022.

Alex is on a mission to make contact with the Nassa and he acknowledges that humans know little about them. In this case what he does not know will put him in the position of being held and protected as an omega. To his surprise he is the prize in a mating competition. Will he be mated - what will that mean for him anyway? I am looking forward to the conclusion of this story. The preview has what my appetite.

This Sadie Marks short is a wonderful story that I could have happily continued to read for many more chapters. Wik sounds absolutely perfect for Thom/Dez. Who wouldn't want a fresh start like this? The idea of giving up everything for your caring, yet oh so dominant Sir is hugely appealing even if you were unaware you'd be leaving your whole planet behind.

The Alien’s Kidnapped Omega by Sienna Sway showcases a short but gripping prequel for a first contact alien adventure with some unintended events and consequences. The writing is clear and readable, Alex is an intriguing character, and the world building is super interesting-- I’m looking forward to seeing where things go when the main book comes out in Jan 2022.

I read The Alien Zookeeper for Skye MacKinnon. This is another great Alien romance from Skye. Tilly gets abducted with her so animals and her fav rhino. Bavalla thought this was a normal abduction until she finds Tilly among the hold of animals. She must keep her hidden at all costs or risk severe punishment. Tilly wants to save her animals. Great quick read and would recommend it!
I only read the Aliens Zookeeper, a fresh exciting story, well written with great characters. Accidentally abducted with the animals she looks after Tilly’s life changes dramatically. A real page turner I highly recommend

Sienna Sway is a new author to me. The Alien's Kidnapped Omega is an interesting story. It took me awhile to get into it, but it was a good read. I am interested to see what happens next.
