Wired to Hear: Connecting God's Voice to Your Life, Influence, and Career

Rate this book
"We're wired to hear God. Isn't it amazing to realize we were made that way? Once we understand how God is speaking to us, we can better hear Him which gives us an advantage in the marketplace. What would my business look like if I knew for sure when God was speaking to me? No more second-guessing! I've already read the book once. Then, I read back over my notes (there are so many, it's like reading the book again)". - Our favorite reader review from Janice WIRED TO HEAR IS YOUR GO TO BOOK FOR HOW GOD IS SPEAKING TO EVERYDAY CHRISITAINS IN THE MARKETPLACE. We have found that this is the secret sauce to a Christian having success in their field. Hearing God in your career, business, or place of influence will set you apart and give you favor for opportunities you would have never had without God working in your life. Join the Shawn Bolz and BobHasson, who have been creating a conversation for what God is doing in the marketplace for years through one of the top podcasts in the world (in the .01 percent of all podcasts) called Exploring the Marketplace. They have been interviewing  everyday marketplace people about how their faith is making a difference in their career and there is one major thing that all successful Christians seem to have in They have HEARD GOD! Bob and Shawn created this book to help you understand how God speaks to you and to give you the courage that God has WIRED YOU to hear His voice. This isn't always God speaking in a direct voice to you, and the book powerfully lays out how God uses your process, instinct, intuition, relationships, and more to speak and shift you into places you couldn't have ever arrived without His work in your life. The book also addresses where our understanding of God, Church, and the marketplace has been immature or broken especially when it comes to treating marketplace people as second class citizens to ministry people. Our authors host the conversation through their authorship in a way that will provoke you and help us all to realize this is a NOW conversation to have. If you already hear God but are learning to process how to make what He is saying useful in your everyday life or if you are hungry to hear how God is speaking in useful ways to beleivers just like you, this is your book! This is a great book to bring your business group through or to read with another Christian friend who has expectation of God in the marketplace.

This is all so new, I find it hard to take in. The bold invitation to hear the voice of God pokes at my insecurity about my own ability to discern His voice. And I don't see myself as the Marketplace Person that they so often address.

Bolz and Hasson write that "the number one way that He speaks is from within, or through impressions. God speaks to us through our inner thought life--something that is so normal for us. His voice can be heard often, but we have to get observant enough to distinguish His voice from our own thoughts."

They write earlier, "One of the biggest obstacles we face isn't a lack of communication from God but a failure to acknowledge and give God the credit" (p. 9).

Learning this discernment doesn't click for me. I rarely feel confident identifying thoughts as the voice of the Lord. Even less when I am in a setting that does not affirm God's existence or character as I know him. I am hopeful that I will grow in this discernment, though. I have experienced the voice of the Lord in my inner life before. So there's something there.

Profound

A revelation to me. I was one of those who thought ministry was only things you do through Church. Also one who thought had to be poor. I feel as if Bob and Shawn tore a veil from my eyes. Showing me how God wants to partner with me through my sales work has invigorated me. It makes all the No’s much better to deal with because I know now that God is using me to show the people I come in contact with Him through me.

Another brilliant book by Shawn Bolz (and Bob Hassan), to whom I listen on their podcast. Although it’s a short book there is so much to take in, it’s one of those books I’ll go back to regularly in the future. It’s packed with spiritual insight and godly wisdom. Loved it.

Real great read.

This book will many step into more of their destiny. Reading it reminded me that God is not stuck in church or ministries, but is eager to go on adventures with us.

A lot of wisdom and great questions to think about. It was very helpful. However, some chapters were a little thin for me. I wanted to go deeper.
