The Beloved
When love whispers, will the heart respond? A young woman unsure of herself and not ready to open her heart. A young man sure of his feelings but clumsy in his approach. Both have a lot to learn about the true nature of love. This story takes them on a journey of discovery, which causes them both to come to a place of understanding, that will ultimately alter the direction of their lives. It isn’t only an understanding of human love that needs to touch their souls, but the realisation of the unconditional love that God offers them. The Beloved is set in Medieval Wales, against the backdrop of Cistercian monastic life, and features some of the characters introduced in the novel, The Healing, by the same author.

The Healing is my first novel. I have always loved history and the inspiration for the book came whilst visiting local abbey ruins.
I live with my husband and feisty Jack Russell, on the wild and beautiful North Wales coast, surrounded by history and stunning landscapes. I love the Word of God and teaching it. The Healing is full of both truth and beauty.
I have experienced the redemptive healing power of God in my own life, and hope that my writing gives hope to those who need it.

A beautifully written novella following the same characters as in the author's recent work, 'The Healing', and set some years later.
Philip de Braose, who lost his faith in God and had it rekindled with the help of a Cistercian monk who rescued him from a ditch, is now married with a daughter of marriageable age. She now needs to find her own peace with God as she takes offence at the hasty words of a young man of whom, in truth, she is very fond.
Huw, son of the local steward has held a candle to Carys for some time but her rejection cuts him deeply and he goes as a lay worker to a local monastery where hard work and the discipline of daily prayers sooth his soul and allow him to think more clearly.
Meanwhile, Philip's family enjoy a visit from a now ageing Hywel who brings his Godly wisdom to the situation. Carys must know the love of God before any other: 'unconditional. pure, complete and eternal.'

The Beloved by Joy Margetts is a companion book to The Healing. While the Healing is a novel, The Beloved is a novella. It is set in 1250 later than the Healing (1231), but some of the characters will be familiar to reader of the earlier book.
It is available on Kindle. It is a light read suitable for YA or adult readers. I read this heart-warming, well-written story the day I downloaded it. As with The Healing, passages from the Bible are included.

A short love story set in Wales in the 13th century. This book includes a couple of familiar figures from 'The Healing,' while introducing some new characters too - although the story does stand on its own. Beautifully written, you are drawn into this tale of love and Christian faith, with a clear message that we are whole only when we know that we are beloved by God.

I eagerly read this as an e-book, wanting to reacquaint with the beloved characters from The Healing. This historical novella is set in 1250 and explores gratitude, courtship and the difficult task of making healthy choices. It is a delightful story, that makes one wish to physically roam the unspoilt countryside of Wales too.

I loved this book Of the Beloved
This a book in 1250 of a neighbor boy wanting to be friends with a pretty little lassie and she rejected him
He left to go to the abbey to be a monk. But had to go home to help after his dad had an accident. carys had a heart experience
and after that she was Haws beloved.
