Borders Closing: The True Story of 30 Strangers Trapped In Int’l Airport at Onset of COVID-19

Rate this book
In a final attempt to get home while international borders are closing, one remaining flight is organized by the government, allowing thirty of its citizens to board a private plane and return home. Without forewarning, ‘the 30’ citizens land and are shuffled into a temporary holding room, only to be told it could be twelve hours before they are released—or two weeks. ‘The 30’ are informed of potential confinement camps in the North as well as the arrival of a neighboring nation's plane. With a countrywide military lockdown initiated, the group is left in the room awaiting gubernatorial orders. As Tyrell and the group of strangers receive routine medical checks, chaos ensues. Infection scares, security breaches, and suspected corruption each take their toll. Tyrell attempts to keep in contact with family on the outside as they wait for plans from various embassies—if there is any plan at all. Until then, ‘the 30’ wait, with borders closing.

Witty and well-written. It delivered on its promise to make the reader laugh, with its sketch of humans whose real life just turned into fiction and loads of self-deprecation.
