Want to read more about the Legacy Academy series? Want to meet the Defenders again? Then meet Lucien’s brother, Armond, and Raven’s sister, Ebony. This is before either one of them attended Legacy!
Armond: A dark demon kidnapped me when I was two years old and thrust me into a nightmare of living hell.
My uncle hates me and no matter what he does to me, I heal in three days. I don't know why or know what I am.
My tormentors say I am a monster.
I never would have known love if it wasn't for my friends––true friends who are more like brothers and would do anything to protect me.
On my fourteenth birthday, I sprouted wings, and my world turned upside down.
I'm not human. I'm a Golden Demon, the missing link to another family, and my big brother is Lucien–a warrior in the crusade against the dark demons.
He tells me I'm destined to save the Golden Demons and must abandon my friends. My people are dying.
How can I leave the only family I have ever known to fulfill a destiny I never wanted?
But then at my new family's home, I meet a girl, Ebony, but she's not human, either. She's a dragon and when she gets mad, horns grow out of her head. I can't stop thinking about her. Now, I'm really torn.
This is the first book in the Before Legacy series. If you want to unravel the secrets about Lucien's brother, dive into a coming of age story, and a fall in love with a band of brothers, then you'll want to get this action and adventure series! This book is The Outsiders gone paranormal with a tinge of romance!
***This is an upper YA coming of age book and not a romance. The stories in this series are what happened to the heroes before they attend Legacy Academy!
M Guida has always loved fantasy and romance, especially dragons. Growing up, she devoured fantasy books and all kinds of young adult books. And then she found romance and a whole new world opened up to her.
Now as an adult, she fell in love with academy romance and has blended all of her past loves into one compelling series. Dragons, vampires, elves, demons, and shifters all attend Legacy Academy.
When she's not writing, she lives in the colorful Rocky Mountains with her fur baby, Raven, and enjoys taking her for walks.

Wow, this book was hard to put down. We learn what Armond went through, before he goes to Legacy. We have so many feelings from all the characters. Armond has only known abuse his whole life, never known that he had been kidnapped. When finally saved, he does not know if he can trust them. He has learned that only the Ellis brothers and Rusty is trustworthy. Follow his story and how he learns to come to terms and no matter what happened to him he cannot do to others.
The cover is misleading as the main character comes across as weak and not remarkable size-wise as he learns his powers. He’s often carried and often passes out, not to mention the vomiting. The story line was okay with plenty of drama, but what lost it for me was the numerous references to ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’ as if the author couldn’t come up with her own way to describe things. There were also numerous typos.
I loved it! It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. Want to read more about the Legacy Academy series? Want to meet the Defenders again? I highly recommend to everyone.
This is Armond's story... before Legacy! Armond was kidnapped by Ryker when he was two and grew up with the Martin family who beat him frequently... but he always heals in 3 days. On his 14th birthday, he sprouts wings!! And he has no idea what is going on... but he's also told that his mother and her boyfriend are trying to find him to kill him. So when the defenders arrive to "rescue" him, he tries to get away, untrusting that they are really there to help him.
This whole story is sooooo amazing! I can't wait to read Gunnars story next!! Btw, I absolutely loved the reference to Killer Clowns from Outer Space... haha Total B movie from a loooong time ago that I didn't know other people had actually watched lol.
Awesome AWESOME AWESOME AND SOME MORE AWESOMENESS!!! What can I say THIS AUTHOR IS MY NEW ALL TIME FAVORITE! So GLAD TO HAVE FOUND HER! Not so glad I have to actually read the books. My eyes are not happy with me! I have some disability issues but what can I say this book was worth the pain I went through to read the book. PLEASE PUT THEM ON AUDIBLE FOR US WHO HAVE ISSUES WITH OUR EYES AND CANNOT READ THE BOOKS! But READ IT ITS AMAZING! Now onto Her next book in this series! Then will only have to wait a little bit for book 3! Thankfully! That's the story of my life I'm in the waiting game for a lot of books right now. And how I found my new favorite author here. As my daughter keeps telling me. God keeps showing me new pages while he has me waiting for my new book releases. I hope you give her a chance like I did she wont disappoint you!
I really felt bad for Armond in the beginning of this book but his attitude with the good guys started to irritate me. I can understand being wary but rude was just too much! But as time went on he grew on me. He's a 14 year old who just found out his life to this point was all a lie. I can't wait to read about Gunman next. These are great books and I love the way she writes. There are some errors like words left out or transposed but the story is so good I just ignored them.
The first book in the Before Legacy Academy series a well written story that kept me turning pages. This is Armond's story of all the ups and downs he and his family and friends go through, they also come into contact with Gunnar. There is suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, evil, villains, and a man that is a very good healer. I want to read the next book. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ok, that author knows her stuff, that's for sure!! This book is just as awesome, if not more awesome than the Legacy Academy books! There is every emotion and I could feel the character's emotion as I was reading!! I hope that this series gets more books than just this one and Gunner. I could hardly put this book down! I highly recommend this book as well as the Legacy Academy books and the Ebony Legacies!
Before Legacy: Armond (Before Legacy Academy Book 1)
Loved 🥰 this start to a new series. Characters were amazing and easy to follow. Loved his character, strong and grew with the story. Fantastic book . I also enjoyed reading about the happenings of the characters from Legacy Academy with Raven and the gang. Definitely recommend this book.
I really like the this story of Armond, and how he was finally rescued from his kidnappers. However the book was riddled with errors in grammar and spelling. It really needs a proofreader to go through it and fix all the problems. I think it would get better reviews 🤔. 🤔
Great story, but the lack of good editing really detracts from it. The many typos and repeated words pulled me away from the story while I tried to figure out what caused the brain hiccup.
What a tragic childhood Armond had. The only parents he'd ever known despised and beat him but regardless he has a heart of gold. This is his story and how he overcomes. A great, well written paranormal story with a twist sure to bring a tear to your eyes!
Fantastic variety of characters with a diversity of skills and attitudes. Highly recommend if you enjoy adventure, magic, truly evil bad guys, action and a sprinkle of romance blooming in the future.
Overall the book was good. He did frustrate me a little when his family finally found him. What I don’t get is why the cover photo is of a huge buff guy, when Armond is a 14 Yr old kid…
Great book ! Loved reading it but I had a lot of spelling mistakes amongst a couple of other there things but would still recommend the book great storyline and I love all the legacy academy books so far.
Okay maybe it was the nostalgia, but I loved this book. I heard it compared to The Outsiders with supernatural beings. And it definitely reminded me of S. E. Hinton. I really like this story. But more than that I loved the characters. I absolutely loved their fierce devotion and protection they had for each other. I loved that the main character in it was a boy. So many paranormal fantasy novels are headed by females, and this was a great change. I immediately got the second novel Gunnar, and began the next one. I am sorry that there are not more stories for these characters. I would love to see Armond go to supernatural highschool, and whether Rusty and Lucien become friends. How the Ellis's adjust to their supernatural hideout even though they are human. I also loved that these stories were set in Colorado. I love recognizing locations from the state I live in. I know this author writes mostly Adult Paranormal Fantasy Novels, but I really hope she writes more YA novels. I had such fun reading this.
Armond’s story brings tears to your eyes. It was a really good story. The cover is a bit deceiving since Armond is a fourteen-year-old boy. He might look like that when he gets old but not now.

I liked reading this other introduction to Legacy Academy. It was intriguing to find out where Tyler went when Ravens mother changed her mind about him.
