Kind of a middling manga about a boy who looks up girls skirts. He gets attacked by a vampire and starts to change. He can smell girls who are on their period. For some reason, a cute girl decides she likes him, despite his awful behavior.

That is literally the entirety of this volume. The cover is beautiful and that's all it's got going for it.

This is the second series I've read by Shuzo Oshimi, Blood on the Tracks being the other series. As I've done before with manga, I've read all ten volumes, but I will rate the series as a whole.

Happiness was an interesting read for me; I found the first six or so volumes slow and lackluster in terms of character development. So, I was rather surprised when the later volumes were fast-paced and character-enriching. I tend to read manga once the series is complete since I'm impatient with serialized works, and I'm thankful I stuck with that pattern for Happiness. I honestly would have dropped the series if only the first few volumes were out when I started, but luckily I stuck with it, and the payoff was well worth the drudgery of the earlier volumes.

As with Blood on the Tracks, there are so many beautifully grotesque panels that I still think about, and the commonality extends to the imagery involving...cats. Despite Happiness being a story following vampires, Shuzo Oshimi has such a disturbing yet human approach to storytelling that always gives plausibility to characters' reactions and actions.

If I were only rating the second half of the series, it would be a solid 4.5, but even despite the payoff, I feel inclined to drop my rating down to a 3.5. Though my initial reservations persist, the series left an indelible mark, and perhaps on a re-read, I would enjoy the story as a whole more as I would be anticipating the well-crafted ending, but for now, it will remain around the 3.5 mark.

I got into vampire manga so I was excited for this one. I love the art style and the way dramatic scenes are drawn. the plot was really flat and didnt have a lot of meaning (tbh I didnt even see much bullying), in the beginning he gets turned into a vampire and since he didnt drink blood he is in a prestage (I assume, since in the ending he is a vamp?), he was complaining abt the light, which makes sense as a vampire, but it never got mentioned again. He really doesnt show many problems with his new life, he sometimes smells blood and punshes someone. I wouldve wished for more input on his problems with new needs and wants (blood, the light, maybe higher senses?) it just seemed like good ideas and beginnings but no thought finished

This is my first read from Shuzo Oshimi. The story revolves around a school boy Okazaki Kun, Goshoshan and some of their friends. This one is a vampire based story. The art work is awesome but in some panels I found it slightly average. Though the emotions in the human face aren’t registered properly. But overall good artwork. I literally cried and sat down and started starring the wall of my room once I completed this manga. This is one good manga I have read. This review is for the whole 10 volumes of happiness manga. Not only for volume one. I just read whole 10 volumes in one day. Such a fast moving story. Also, I believe it’s not meant for under 18. It’s an adult manga.

Overall a pretty solid read but definitely not for everyone. It was very tokyo ghoul like, to the point there was no way the author didn’t take inspiration from it. I enjoyed the concept, especially as i’m a sucker for anything vampire (pun intended lol). There were two points in the book that kinda had me weirded out but that’s not honestly surprising. nothing overly sexual, but to be prepared for the main character masterbating within the first 10 pages.

It was okay. I really don't have a negative comment on this manga, it was acceptable but it felt a little dull, like just very plain. The premise is good but this first volume didn't excite me as much. I have hopes that the next few volumes are gonna be superior than this one. Therefore I have no right to speak ill of it, I still don't know if it's gonna get better as the story continues, so let's not judge too soon.

I was so hyped to read this manga only for it to let me down honestly. The plot was very... and I mean very flat. Follows a boy who is starting to feel attraction towards girls, and one night he gets bitten by a attractive female vampire. Starts to turn... blah blah blah. Not left with a cliff hanger just very bland. Won't probably continue.

-I picked up this one with zero expectations. It has vampires which is a win for me and the cover art is beautiful.
- I could not get into this one. I am not a big fan of bullying even though I have seen worse. Also some of the decisions the main character made did not sit well with me. I probably will not continue this manga.

I read this series in half a day, so I can’t say I wasn’t entertained. Thats why I gave it 4 stars instead of three. Although interesting I found it lacking in the beginning only picking up at the end after the time skip. My biggest problem though being with the fact that it felt like reading a strange smut at times instead of a horror manga. If you are a fan of things like Tokyo Ghoul then I would recommend reading this. The art is beautiful as well, and fit the story perfectly.

Fast paced. Classic vampire tale. Intriguing. One scene was uncomfortable to me but no worse than the 13 Reasons Why netflix series that was so popular... I really liked the art style. I will give this series a try.

It was extremely short and the characters were kinda odd but I’m planning to read a few more volumes before I decide whether I like it or not.

Odd but my first of osuma's work so I'm willing to keep diving in... Seems like an odd puberty tale with a vampirism analogy?
