Ever since BTS CONNECT was announced I was captivated with it's idea and I truly regret I couldn't make it at least to Berlin.
The BTS CONNECT project "celebrates diversity, emphasizes shared values, and seeks to build relationships among people, between artist and viewer, and a recognition of the environment through art" and I think that every piece presents by artists complimented it perfectly. Each piece offered the new point of view on the 'connection' to the viewer whether it's connection with/through space or light, nature and other beings around us. As the author of the american part of the project 'New York Clearing' Anthony Gormley said that "Art should be platform for connectivity and understanding. When we have a conversation what we are doing is we are reforming our own experience into a story which we offer another person as the extension of their own experience. That's exactly what a work of art is".
I also appreciate how the topics of BTS' album MOTS:7 are complimenting some points of the project as it was the part of the MOTS:7 comeback schedule and I truly respect the decision to use their influence to bring attention to complexity and connectivity of a different forms of art.

i’d always meant to read up on all the other connect bts installations. visiting the one in new york is my last memory before we all ended up stuck inside for months in a quarantine from hell.
the artwork was all extremely well thought out and it was so interesting to hear about it in depth from the perspective of the authors. i’m endlessly proud of bangtan for what they wanted to accomplish here, and endlessly nostalgic for the beautiful thing that it could have flourished into but was robbed from.

I am not an art enthusiast, but I loved this! Not the book itself and the way it's written, but the entire idea of the project. It's rare for a band to care so much about the arts, in any form, and for music and arts to fuse together to celebrate unity and diversity at the same time is beautiful. I especially loved the exhibits from New York and of course Seoul. This was amazing and I just wish I saw this in real life. I'm sure the book doesn't give justice to the real thing.

Leer Connect, BTS fue toda una experiencia. Todo el proyecto en sí es demasiado grande y genial como para poder asimilarlo por completo (al menos para mí). Por eso mismo es una lástima que no mucha gente haya hablado del mismo en su momento y muchísimo menos ahora, incluso si el fandom de BTS era más que grande ya a inicios de 2020.
En lo personal, con este libro encontré esa parte perdida de mí misma que estaba conectada con el arte y la teoría del arte. Fue lindo y muy interesante reecontrarme con esa parte y, además, me insipiró de muchas maneras.
Conecté más con algunos proyectos que con nosotros y de a ratos se me hizo un poco aburrida y repetitiva la lectura (porque entre artistas y curadores redundaban mucho sobre el mismo tema a veces), pero el libro en sí está muy bien estructurado y las imágenes son geniales.
Mi proyecto favorito fue el de Aerocene Pacha, por su conexión con el medio ambiente (y seguramente también porque Tomás Saraceno era uno de los pocos artistas latinoamericanos). Me pareció el proyecto más "llevado a tierra". El arte no siempre tiene que hacer algo como eso, pero me gusta mucho cuando lo hace. A esto le agrego que tuve la suerte de que justo cuando Saraceno expuso sus telas de araña en Buenos Aires en 2017 yo estaba allá y pude verlas, lo que me pareció una bonita coincidencia al encontrármelo en Connect, BTS. Después de averiguar más sobre él y su trabajo me pareció extremadamente interesante.
Con respecto a lo primero que dije: entiendo que no es un proyecto en el que BTS participó directamente, así que no captó tanto el interés del fandom como otros proyectos, pero lo cierto es que sí acercó a muchos de los mismos al arte por primera vez y que, como los artistas mismos dijeron, sin la propuesta de BTS y HYBE el proyecto directamente no existiría. Sería genial si pudieran hacer algo similar alguna vez. El proyecto en sí no tiene conexión alguna con la banda o su música, ya que eran proyectos que ya estaban en marcha y gracias a BTS y HYBE consiguieron difusión, un mayor alcance y patrocinio.
Yo misma no soy muy cercana al arte contemporáneo y sé que, de hecho, no muchas personas logran conectar con el mismo, otrar razón de que su alcance no fuera mayor. Personalmente me cuesta mucho conectar, porque creo que el arte contemporáneo se centra mucho en la teoría y en el piense antes que en el material creado y expuesto. Cualquiera puede corregirme y objetivamente no lo creo así, pero es lo que me genera como expectadora. Si hay algo que me mostró el libro es que los artistas pensaron y reflexionaron un montón sobre lo que estaban haciendo. Hay algunos que incluso me hicieron plantearme la pregunta de siempre: ¿es esto arte? ¿Y entonces qué es el arte?
Por ejemplo: el proyecto que reconstruye la naturaleza a través de la tecnología, por medio de vídeos y sonidos. Lo que hacen es exponerlo en pantallas grandes y a través a parlantes. No me pareció muy diferente a buscar un vídeo de sonidos de naturaleza en youtube y descargarse imágenes nítidas del bosque. De hecho, creo que se pueden encontrar ambas cosas en youtube o National Geographic o cosas así. Sinceramente no entendí la parte "artística" del proyecto y de todos fue el que me generó más dudas al respecto, pero bueno.
El libro desarrolla las reflexiones e intenciones de los artistas sobre sus obras, pero si no quieren leerlo porque les da pereza, es lo mismo que verse los vídeos de Youtube sobre cada uno, que están subidos en el canal de BTS.

Interesting read which captivated essence of each project and how each was connected with each other. It was interesting to see how and why each project came to life. Specially with pandemic hitting connect bts really helped put art, connections and music into perspective. A good read if you like contemporary art.
