Remington English just got the gig of a lifetime as the ghost writer for retired soccer phenom and playboy, Nathan Black. He's smart, gorgeous and cocky as hell. If all goes well, her very first writing assignment will launch Remington into the writing world and kick start her career in a major way. The only problem is that Nathan Black is clearly opposed to the memoir and is doing everything he can to be as difficult and uncooperative as possible. To make matters worse, there's an intense chemistry flaring between them that she didn’t count on and can't deny no matter how hard she tries. Nathan Black just wants to be left alone. His days of being in the spotlight should be over yet he's on the front page of the gossip websites on the daily. Now his cousin has arranged for up and coming writer, Remington English, to write his memoir and he's not happy about it at all. Nathan has no intention of making the process easy for the sexy and very determined young woman. The only problem is that his plan to dead the thing doesn't seem to be working and his attraction to Remington is threatening to turn his entire world upside down.
The Assignment by Rowdy Rooksy is about writer Remington English and retired professional soccer player turned sports agent Nathan Black. Remington works for Nathan’s cousin Jaxson at his publishing company. She’s hired to ghostwrite Nathan’s memoir however they bump heads right away! Nathan doesn’t even want a memoir, this is completely his agent and Jaxson’s idea. Jaxson doesn’t care for the media, he’s a playboy but he’s private. He thought with his retirement they would leave him alone but they continue to report on his comings and going’s. He’s attracted to Remington right away but he decides not to act on it but instead be difficult at each turn. Remington does not back down, she’s gonna get this story and launch her career! Remington is also attracted to Nathan and the more she learns the more she’s intrigued. As their mutual attraction builds so does the frustration 👀 eventually it combusts 💦 Nathan and Remington heat up the pages 🔥 Hotels, private flights, elevators, legs over shoulders 🥵 These two are HOT!! Nathan has Remington wide open and I mean that in every way! Oh but it’s not just her, my boy Nathan is sprung! He got her driving his foreign whips!! Skrrt skrrt! Nathan is new to this feeling so he makes some dumb decisions along the way but I forgive him. This is a sweet read!! I look forward to reading more from this author.
I really liked getting to know Nathan Black and Remington English. Both interesting apart, yet pure fire when they were together.
Remington seemed so down to earth, young and a bit naive, yet she was fierce when it came to her work. I loved her confidence, yet how she could let her guard down a bit with Nathan. I think that her reaction to him was a bit much a times, all the fawning and the way she couldn't control her insides when he just breathed...yeah🤨. Yet, I like that she wanted to keep it professional and in ways, demanded respect from him since he was such a jerk to her at first, and she didn't quite know why, yet she'd find out soon enough. I loved her relationship with her bff, Natalie. Natalie was the type of friend who'd drop everything to be at your side and I really like that about her. I also liked the relationship Remington had with her dad; I'm sure the bond they had over fast cars when she was younger is what made her so tough and able to handle men like Nathan Black.
Nathan Black was a bachelor whom had no sights of a family of his own in his future. He respected women, due to how he was raised, yet never kept a female companion around too long. He always broke things off with one woman before entertaining another, which I respect. When he first met Remington, due to her only being there to write the memoir he didn't want to write, he was standoffish and quite mean to her. I'm glad she stood her ground and kept with it to get the job done, bc once Nathan finally apologized for his treatment of her, he was able to see her for the gem that she was. I like that he let all his inhibitions go around her. And all that hot steamy sex, goodness😏; had to change my undergarments a few times reading those parts😉. I loved his bond with his grandma, Momma D, his annoying cousin Jax and Jax parents. I can only imagine how losing his parents at such a young age effected him, yet glad he had family around to try to fill in that void. I enjoyed the business side of Nathan; he loved being a professional soccer player, yet after retiring, he only wanted to help other young athletes as they navigated being a Pro player. His heart was so big and I liked that about him.
The whole situation with Jazelle Banks, Nathan's most recent fling, was a bad move on his part, since he wasn't upfront with Remington, yet I'm glad Jazelle was a real woman and truthful with their situation and the photo. You never know someone based on what others say about them, so I'm glad she did the right thing by talking to Remington and setting the record straight.
This was a good story and I'm sure I'll be reading more from Rowdy Roosky.
What an amazing story that kept me hooked from beginning to end. I must admit, I really disliked Nathan and his attitude against Remington in the beginning. She slowly warmed his heart and the chemistry between the two of them lit the rest of the way. Really great dialogue & character development. There were some errors in the book but not enough to take away from the story which was sweet and entertaining and ridiculously sexy. I definitely recommend.
I really enjoyed this story especially when the couple got together on the Dallas trip. I love the chemistry between the couple from the very beginning. This is my first book by this author and I will be adding more books to my reading list.
Good book. I enjoyed it. I'm glad that Nathan and Remington got together. This is the second book that I read from this author and it definitely won't be the last.
I give this a solid 3.5. I would definitely say this is a forced proximity trope. It was cute and fun read. Remington English is an up and coming writer who is tasked with being the ghostwriter for recently retired high profile soccer player Nathan Black's memoir. Nathan is a private person and is anything but thrilled about this memoir. His plan is to do almost everything in his power to make Remington unhappy enough to quit. Remington isn't so easily deterred and keeps showing up day after day to complete the job she was hired to do.
Nathan is a a self proclaimed eternal bachelor who has never spent enough time with a woman to want to be in a relationship or feel anything other than lust. Remington and her determination has Nathan spending more time with her than he intended and falling for her in the process. This was a cute and heartwarming read. Nathan is still a likable character (even with him trying to derail the progress of the memoir). He's someone that cares about his family, friends, and the people he chooses to have in his life. Remington is an ambitious sweetheart who is trying her best to write the best story possible.
The progression of the relationship was nice, the banter was cute, and the drama wasn't over the top but just enough. I enjoyed the characters and side characters. I'm still wondering what Jax had up his sleeve with Jazelle. I thought maybe there was a sequel that followed those two but I didn't find one.
First read by this author, and it was enjoyable. Remington, smart young woman, who had just finished her internship, got her dream job as a ghost writer for "THE" Nathan Black! This was the type of assignment that could make or break her career. Mr. Nathan Black, the playboy, as he was often quoted in the tabloids, was not a fan of this memoir. He has an aversion to the media, especially the paparazzi, as they love to catch him when he is out with his dates. When his cousin Jax, introduces him to Remington, his heart seized as he saw an angel! Not wanting her to know how she affected him, he turns up the asshole! But, Remington is persistent and will not back down to his jerkish ways. The more time she spends with him, she begins to see that he is not at all what he has been portrayed to be in the media. Nathan, finds that he is becoming more and more attracted to this woman, and never wants to leave her presence. Cute story of not judging a book by its cover (although the brother on THIS cover is pretty fine)! 😂 Hope to see these characters again. 👍👍👍
What happens when the hunter gets captured by the game 😅
First of all let me say this is my first time reading this writers work and I’m pretty sure this won’t be my last. I truly loved how Remington English eased her way into Nathan Black’s heart when he thought he was going to cause her to run away and not ever be around him. Unfortunately for him,she kept showing up.
Nathan wasn’t sure of what to make of Remington English . So he decided once he sept with her that would be the end of the wired attraction he felt and he would convince her to write his memoir, that his cousin was so determined to have written.
Before long Nathan Black found out it was really no fun when the rabbit has the gun😂 steamy love story.
Hope I get to read about Jax Black , Nathan’s cousin. And it would really be fun to read about Natalie G., Remington’s best friend . I’m sure Natalie and Jax. could really heat up a love story IJS😅😅
So this is a new author for me and I heard of this author/book because of a post on @ariesreadtoo 's IG page. This book was just as good as she described! I do love an enemies to lovers book and especially when that chemistry is set on simmer and boils over!🔥🔥🔥🔥 Remington and Nathan were so hot together! (Also, I am a Columbia University grad with a degree in English so I was extra hype about that!🙌🏾) I also enjoyed Nathan and Jax's interaction, Jax is hilarious!😂 I low-key think Jax knew what he was doing assigning Remington as Nathan's writer.😁 The way they just got to know each other so organically was beautiful. I enjoyed this book and I'll definitely be reading more from this author!
💕🤗Omg I love me some Remington & Nathan, the banter between these 2 was just unabashed and at times unhinged lol but I loved it!
📚: What if people looked at you only as a bachelor that will never settle down, after all your business is spread out the media quite a lot, will you try to clear your name, will you constantly fall victim to your player ways, will you meet the right woman that makes your heart beat, what if you throw it all away, can you revamp your life if you call in love, what does love feel like to you and for you, do you know what love is when it comes knocking? When you finally know what love is will it be too late? ⏰
Natalie and Remington. Remington was a handsome, talented, retired athlete that had a way with women. Remington was an up and coming talented writer hired to tell his story. Who knew they’d wind up creating a perfect story of their own. Everything isn’t always what it seems, even salt looks like sugar right? Remington was tasked to get to the heart of the man Remington was and is. She wound up infatuated with all the different facets of him and he wasn’t immune to her either. This was a great story and I loved how relatable both Natalie and Remington were. Definitely an assignment worth reading.
I realize "enemies to lovers" is definitely my favorite trope and this read gave everything it was suppose to give! Nathan was determined to not like Remington and run her off. She was focused on completing her assignment and leaving his life for good but life has a funny way of working out sometimes. They couldn't deny their attraction to each other and it was up from there! This book was steamy in all the right ways. Really got me out hear looking for my Nathan because YES! I need EVERYTHING he was offering! There was a slight mishap but they got their HEA! I loved this read and would highly recommend!
I loved reading about Remington and Nathan. It was love at first sight for him and for her, he was nice to look at but definitely out of her league; or so she thought. Nathan was a man who been around the world and saw many beautiful faces but not one could make him commit. For Remington, she had a few boyfriends but none of them gave reached her in a way that she was willing to open herself up to them. As you read this book, you'll experience many firsts with them and see how they handled them. Will Remington capture Nathan's heart? Will he let her in his world or will he continue to be forever the playboy and panties dropper?
Nothing like a little, 'enemies to lovers' story. Nathan never saw Remington coming but she stands her ground, and its so good how Nathan gets out of his shell. The story is very typical, 'dating a celebrity or someone in the public eye' story but I liked it. It's not over the top and the his amicable relationships with his last conquest really flips things around. The facets of his life and seeing his pursuit of being an Agenting company that looks out of for his players, really fleshes him out well. Remington and her cover of his life turns out well rounded as is how they make their relationship work.
Let me take that assignment off your hands Remington English. Every girl needs to ghost write a book for a hot soccer player. And the cover, hubba hubba, that man is fine. Nathan Black was black man royalty as far as I was concerned. Remington was the perfect example of how to make a story do what it's supposed to do. The storytelling, the theme, plot, and the characters were well done. I could feel this story with each page turned. You all need to read this one, if only to drool, I mean, admire the fine specimen on the cover....
This story was pretty entertaining. I looooved Remington. She was super intelligent, compassionate to a fault and strong. I loved reading about her and her characteristics. Nathan was pretty likeable, but Remington stole my heart. This was a good read. Give it a try. I enjoyed the author's writing style. A few errors here and there, but nothing to take away from the story.
I enjoyed this story! It gave spicy contemporary romance by and Indie Author. It was the refresh I needed. I liked the storyline and the chemistry on page was really good.
I found her constant obsession with him annoying at times and the story lacked overall plot but the story telling g was really good. That third act breakup upset me; but they got back on track real fast! I was excited about the 2nd book but looks like that wasn’t released yet. Overall this was a solid read..
I enjoyed reading Nathan and Remington’s story! Nathan was a jerk to Remington at first. But once you realized that he was fighting his attraction to her you understood what was going on with him. Remington was cute and no matter how Nathan treated her she was there to do her job while fighting her attraction to Nathan. I was glad they were able to work out their differences.
This is my first time reading this author and I’m so happy I found her. The cover caught my attention because it is gorgeous! This is a VERY steamy book with lovable characters when they weren’t acting up lol. Looking forward to reading about them again and I would love a story about Jax!
It was a cool story, not boring but not swoon worthy. I did want to say: (1) I noticed Nathan did not wash his hands when he went back to seasoning steaks after the counter session lol; (2) who puts sour cream in mash potatoes? (3) why would he prepare asparagus for dinner when it was obvious they were going to continue to have sex? Food for thought.
This book was everything!! I sat on the edge of my seat with every turn of the pages. I’m so glad I discovered this author and story. The character graphics that I came across is what led me to read and I’m so happy I did. I wish I could have a sequel to this book. I look forward to reading more from this author.
My first time reading this author. Really enjoyed Remington and Nathan’s story. Good plot with an enemies (sorta) to lovers storyline and lots of steam. One star removed as the editing/grammar mistakes were very distracting, especially after the first third of the book.
This book was really good. I knew Nathan was going to fall hard the playboys always do. I'm so glad Remington was determined to write his memoir. I just wished Nathan pulled up on her sooner, he let a misunderstanding keep him away for to long especially once he knew how he felt. Good book
I honestly feel like Remington didn’t have the right to be upset with Nate after the weekend at the cabin 😬 they wasn’t in a relationship! Granted he could have given her the heads up but girl tell that man what you want and if y’all on the same page then move forward 😑! She was being a brat 🙄 ! Pretty good book despite Remington being bratty lol ! I don’t like Jackson, he too messy !
This is my first time reading this author work and I must say I’m happy I did. Cute straight to the point love story. I would love to read about the wedding , also Jax and Nat
Remington and Nathan wonderful couple very real strong and positive powerful. Great read can’t wait for next book Jaxson and Natalie are too good people for next series serious thinking just saying
This was my first read from the author . The storyline kept you interested. I loved the relationship between The two main Character’s . Jazelle was a real adult about the situation.looking forward to reading this authors last work
