Once their kids have left the coop and headed off to university, a couple move to an old house in need of renovation. Andrew relishes the challenge of turning the run-down cottage into a perfect home. Lisa, however, can’t shake the spooky feeling of being watched. Nor can she ignore the cold spot on the stairs… On their first night, Andrew acts out of character and takes her roughly. They’re both exhausted from the day’s physical exertions, and Lisa assumes his exuberance is due to the country air and goes along with it—though she’s a little annoyed next morning when he acts like nothing happened. When Andrew repeats his behaviour the following night, Lisa’s ready for him. She makes the most of her husband’s renewed vigour, thoroughly enjoying the onslaught until she catches sight of his eyes. They’re not the warm blue eyes of her husband, but the cold dark eyes of a total stranger, whose passion is so intense there’s nothing she can do. Maybe it was a trick of the light… It soon becomes evident that her husband is unaware of what’s happening every night, and Lisa continues to enjoy the ‘new’ Andrew. How can she be being unfaithful if it’s still her husband’s body? But she should have known better than to try and control something she doesn’t understand, especially when there are workmen in the house…
Bit of alright this.. a tale of a couple moving into an old cottage and 'strange things' happen at night, a rampant , large cocked, ghostly figure possesses the husband and gives the wife what for, if you get my meaning! Nice ending as well and set in UK..

This was a great story, it started kind of slow and seemed to struggle a bit, then after a couple chapters it really got good! The heat really starts to build about two third through the story and by the final chapter I was totally on board! Then the whole story seen to pull the rip chords and slammed down to Earth. It just kind of ended. The resolution wasn't there. I'm convinced we were close to something really amazing but just didn't get there in the finale. A sequel might save this story, but for now I'm calling this one incomplete. But still pretty good! Cheers!
A great little read rated on my short story scale.
The About this Book provides a thorough overview; I think you’ll enjoy the story more if you don’t read it. Suffice to say this is the story of a loving couple - Lisa and Andrew - living their own “Escape to the Country” dream, with perhaps a little more DIY. It’s all going just so well, including some strange and exciting goings-on. Lisa is the lucky beneficiary, or is she?
A well crafted naughty mystery. To quote the “Escape to the Country” hosts - “Let’s find out” by reading it. You won’t be disappointed.
I loved reading this wondering how the entity that dwelt in the house would do next. Would have liked to see the story expanded a little further but overall a great short read
