Sterling Matthews is done with the danger and uncertainty that came with being a bounty hunter. It's just as well, since he's suddenly found himself responsible for his most recent quarry's ten-year-old son. Sterling can't suss out why he volunteered for the job, but something wouldn't let him allow young Noah to be shipped off to the nearest orphanage. Taking on an assumed name to protect both himself and the boy from anyone still bearing a grudge, Sterling settles in out-of-the-way Crest Stone, Colorado. All he needs now is steady work--and a mother for Noah.

Rose Bissett's life fell apart when her childhood sweetheart left town. With her family in tatters and her wayward husband presumed dead, she makes her way to Milly Crenshaw and agrees to become a mail-order bride to a hunter in Colorado who has a young son in need of a mother. But when she arrives, she discovers her intended is none other than Sterling Matthews, the man who broke her heart six years prior.

Sterling never thought he'd see Rose again, much less have her turn up at the depot as his mail-order bride. When she takes to Noah right away, he remembers everything he loved about her--even as she's resistant to his attempts to earn his way back into her good graces. As they spend more time together, Rose finds those old feelings become harder to push away. But it isn't long before Sterling's past threatens the life they're beginning to build. Will their rekindled love be enough to survive the wrath of a man bent on revenge?

A story of second chances. Rosalyn felt pressured to marry Henry Bissett after her first love ran off without explanation when she was 17. It was either that or become a spinster. If only she knew her husband Henry's true personality, she would have preferred living as an orphaned spinster. After 6 years of misery, Rosalyn finds her self alone again. What to do? She becomes a mail order bride, travelling from Massachusetts to Colorado to meet Sam, her new husband-to-be and Sam's son Noah. Noah, who barely speaks to Sam, takes to Rosalyn immediately. But a secret identity, a murderous gang who've escaped prison, danger and revenge threaten to destroy the hopes that come with second chances. I thoroughly enjoyed this clean historical romance. I received a complimentary ARC of this book and have voluntarily given my honest opinion in this review.

✳️✳️ONE INCREDIBLY THRILLING ADVENTURE✳️✳️
Bashful blushes boo! Cat works her sensational magic once more, raising the stakes and holding tight, delivering one enticingly bewitching, skillfully enthralling, fascinatingly tantalizing, sinfully addictive, rock-my-world tempest, bursting down walls on gale force winds and calling the shots, propelling this baby to staggering heights. Flung head-long into a uncharted territory brimming with the riveting drama, gripping intrigue, underlying threats, brutal tactics, spiraling danger, electrifying suspense and nailbiting situations converge, revving up the exuberance and vigor, observing the trials and tribulations while cognizant to the perilous twists and stunning turns unfolding, wrapping this gem up sleek, shiny and tight. Entwined, combined and crisply coiled, exposing the soaring ups and agonizing downs, breathtaking in it's simplicity and beautiful in it's depth, propelling all of those swirling emotions into play front and center, kicking this gem into the eye of the storm, booting it into a tailspin with an astonishing culmination, putting our characters through their paces, blasting this baby to life flawlessly. The characters are complex, genuine and realistic with traits and qualities that balance and blend, with amazing depth and diversity with enough spice to add an extra kick to the mix. The scenes are abundantly descriptive with colorful details that blend and flow, creating a majestic backdrop that's so rich and lively it feels as though you're part of the story instead of on the sidelines, feeling everything the characters feel. Amazing job Cat, thanks for sharing this incredible jewel with us.

This is a second chance romance at it's best! I was hooked from the very first page. I liked that Rose was, as happens often, a very strong, likeable character from the beginning. Even having been through a great deal her strength showed through right away. I don't always love the male lead as quickly but when Sterling adopted Noah, the son of the man he had just put in prison, and vowed to start a new life with him, I was hooked! His deep and loving nature showed through by leaps and bounds in that one action! As with all of Cat's books these main characters went through a maze of twists and turns leaving me wondering what the outcome would be. I truly enjoyed the way the plot moved as it did, without there being an immediate marriage and leaving me to wonder how it was all going to play out. I can't wait to read more books in the Westward Home and Hearts Series to see how this couple continues to change and grow in time!
I was given an advance copy of this book by the author but this review is my voluntary and honest opinion.

The author has penned a sweet and heartwarming story full of human angst and yearning for a new beginning. This is Sterling Matthews (now known as "Sam") and Rosalie ("Rose") Bissett's story and includes Noah, a small boy who was the son of a notorious outlaw, and who Sam gained custody of as his father was in prison. Rose contacts Milly Crenshaw at the mail order bride agency and agrees to become Sam's MOB believing him to be a hunter. Lo and behold, when she arrives she is greeted by Sam who was her childhood sweetheart but who had abandoned her six years ago with no explanation. Will Noah and Rose form a loving mother/son relationship? Will Sam be able to protect Rose and Noah when his past as a bounty hunter poses a danger to all of them? Will Sam and Rose be able to work through their differences, forget the past and move forward to a HEA? Be sure to read this wonderful story to find out. I really enjoyed this story, and I know you will too.

My thoughts about this book:

• I liked that Sterling adopted Noah, eventhough Noah seemed to not like him.

• The author's descriptions of locations and emotions were well done, easy to visualize, and to feel. I felt a part of the scenes.

• Sterling and Rose were interesting likeable characters that I enjoyed reading about and wondering if they could make a second chance relationship work.

• The pacing of this story was good. It was neither too fast nor too slow.

• There was a smooth, coherent flow to this book. The author has a great writing style.

• This was a clean read and I appreciated that fact.

• If you enjoy western mail order bride romances you will enjoy this one.

After taking in the son of an outlaw, bounty hunter Sterling decides to change his career and become a father to Noah. To be allowed to do that, he needed a wife. When Rose entered their lives, he could not believe he got a second chance with his childhood sweetheart. Unfortunately, Rose had neither forgiven him for the past nor was she willing to marry him and become Noah’s mother…
The story was captivating from start to finish. While Rose had difficulties to forgive Sterling, her heart was big enough to love and cherish Noah. Though Sterling rescued her from dire circumstances, she rescued him and Noah when she became part of their lives. Enjoy this story in which love is offered in abundance and shows how it conquers all!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sterling/Sam and Rosalie/Rose

This is an unusual mail order bride tale. Sam a reformed Bounty Hunter has adopted an young boy who’s father was now in jail waiting to be hanged. Sam knew Noah needed a mother so he sends for a bride. Years ago He abandoned his young girl friend because of no self confidence and family troubles. Rosalie was heartbroken and crushed with grief because he abandoned her. She married a terrible man leaving her isolated from any family or friends. Her husband dies and she agrees to be a mail order bride. Sterling or now Sam sees her step down and realizes the Rose he wrote to and sent for is his lost true love Rosalie. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.

Rose's Rescue

This was a wonderful book. Cat Cahill has truly written a wonderful book with this heartwarming story. Rose and Sam had been in a relationship years earlier, when he abruptly left town without a word and she was heartbroken. When she decides to become a mail order bride and arrives to meet her groom, she finds out it's Sam. Only this time he's not alone, as he's adopted a young son, Noah. I love the way this story has the couple working through their differences and getting Noah to open up and show and accept love. When trouble comes to town, will Sam be able to help the people he loves or will he be too late? I highly recommend this book, especially if you like historical western romance.

What a great story to add to this series! Sterling goes through a lot and ends up adopting a boy whose father is about to be hung because of Sterling doing his job as a bounty hunter. He wants to find a mom for his new son and decides a mail order bride is the way to go. Rose has it rough too; marrying the wrong guy and being the center if gossip because of what her husband did for a living. She figured that when he disappears and declared dead it is time to move on in life becoming a mail order bride. I love how the characters gain experiences that improve their lives and they both have another chance at happily ever after.

Former Bounty Hunter Sterling Matthews/Sam Mahoney is an unlikely candidate as an adopted father for Noah. Sterling had just brought his father in for trial and sentencing. Sterling knew he needed help and Noah needed a mother. Enter, or re-enter Rose/Rosalie Ryan Bissett. Cat Cahill returns us to Crest Stone and with a story that has her usual flair for story telling. There are more that a few twists and a past to overcome before Rose and Sterling/Sam can finally find their happily everafter.

Rose and Sterling 💞

Sweet story of two people who had loved each other in their youth, and have now been reunited thanks to the matrimonial agency.

Sterling had left his Rosalie with no word six years ago. Rose lost her family and had to marry a wicked man. She’s now a widow and answered Sterling’s ad for a wife. But he’s using an alias, so she doesn’t know it’s him. Sterling doesn’t know his future bride is Rosalie as she goes by her married name now. How will things two out for these two? 😉🌹❤️

Second Chances

Being a mail border bride is only a small part of this story. Getting a second chance is the main objective for each of the characters. Sterling leaves his career as a bounty hunter to provide a time for the son of the men he turned in. He discovers that the bride he sent for is his first love. With her husband deceased, can Rose overcome her distrust in the man who left her behind? A well written, enjoyable read.

Safe at last

I enjoyed reading this story of loss, faith, mystery, adventure, suspense and romance. The characters are so very relatable and enduring. Only the love of the only man she ever loved can save her from a madman and bring him the family he always wanted. Another page turner for me, as this series is captivating me.

interesting subjects to use

Never thought of bounty hunters needing wives or outlaw sons entering into a bond with a bounty hunter as a son or saloon owner ex-wives being good mothers. This story has a lot of interesting twists in it & shows great imagination on behalf of the author. It is also easy to read and understand I would recommend it
