Storm of Sin is a stand alone paranormal romance by Patricia D. Eddy.

Sinclair or Sin, is half demon, half angel. He is the brother of Maddox whom we met in in Wicked Omens. Sin is a detective for the Bureau of the Occult and the Other. He and his co-workers investigate the crimes of the beings that the human world know nothing of. Sin’s life is about to be turned upside down on the day he is given a new partner, a human partner.

Zoe Dawes was a junior detective with the San Francisco Police Department when her world was turned upside down and she was seriously injured. Now, after her recovery, she is assigned to the Bureau of the Occult and the Other. She is also assigned to partner with the very beautiful but very grumpy Sinclair. On first sight, she wants to dislike him, but at the same time, she feels pulled toward him, he seems to calm her.

angel

On their first day together, Zoe and Sin are sent to investigate a dead shifter. As their investigation proceeds, they learn of a pattern that points to an evil Sin thought long since imprisoned in the underworld. Could he have gotten out? If so, Sin knows his days are numbered, because he will be coming for him.

As Sin and Zoe work together, they can’t deny the bond they feel forming between them. But with the danger Sin knows is possible, can he risk Zoe’s safety? Both Sin and Zoe are unprepared for the revelations awaiting both of them, and the dark days that are ahead of them.

hell - Google Search

This is both a story of fated love, and is also a very dark story of evil that is not for the faint of heart. This is definitely a good versus evil story. Not everyone that is supposed to be on the side of the good, can be trusted. I so wanted Sin and Zoe to get their happy ever after. Both of them have suffered so much. You’ll have to grab this one to see if they do!

Original premise!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙❤️💚💜
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 😊😘😟😄
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Zoe Dawes - she has been a detective for six months when she is taken hostage than shot by her partner. She is forced to kill him and the whole thing is odd. Before she took the shot, he begged her to do it, saying he couldn’t fight “him” anymore. Zoe has always believed in the supernatural world since her grandmother told her about the other. Though she is seen as a bit crazy when she mentioned to her therapist that it seemed like her partner was possessed.

The Hero: Sinclair (a.k.a. Sin) - He is mostly an incubus demon, who was banished to the mortal world and works for the Bureau of the Occult and the Other (B.O.O.). He is one of the most powerful of demons and is a bit bored with life, though heaven is also kind of droll, so he gets his kicks from his work and from feeding.

The Story: Zoe is very intelligent and a good detective and is offered a place in the Bureau of the Occult and the Other. Sin is her partner, and he sees something other than human when he first sees her. Zoe is not a fan of Sin when they first meet. It doesn’t help that he arrives at a murder scene late and he is a pretty boy with a cocky attitude and a fast car.

I liked the premise on this one as it is pretty original. The agents try to solve other on other crime and it is pretty interesting. A bit X-files, though they both believe. I liked it quite a bit. Especially when it is found that Sin’s past is connected to the murder they are working on. It also has some relation to what happened to Zoe’s partner, so both of them are invested in the investigation. There is chemistry between the two main characters from the start and I like that Sin has some morals and lives by a code.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Jason Clarke and Maxine Mitchell. Jason is one of my favorite male narrators, he has a deep and gravelly voice which is sexy, and he is a great voice actor. Maxine does a good job as well and voice really does anxiety perfectly. She has this slight waver to her voice at times which sounds like someone who is nervous or fearful.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Usualy I'm not into that kind of paranormal/supernatural stories, but I gave it a try nevertheless and, well, turned out I couldn't put it down and read through the whole story within a day. The first chapters are a little confusing though, as I couldn't figure out what the heck was going on. Sin and Zoe are thrown together being partners at the BOO, fighting the evil. Turns out nothing's what it seems and the Archangels as well as the Almighty did have a hand in the fate both have been dealt a long time ago. A very intense story that I unexpectedly did enjoy reading a lot.

I enjoyed this well enough. The writing is readable, the editing pretty clean, and I liked the characters. There was just something missing, though. Nothing in it lit me on fire, and it is very clearly part of a series (though not labeled as such) or, at the least, a spin-off of a series. I suspect it's a spinoff or part of the Cursed Coven series, as Maddox and Killian from Wicked Omens make an appearance. (I've not read it, but I was so certain Storm of Sin must be a spin-off of something that I took a dive into other Eddy books to find any obvious overlap.) While this is still followable, I felt the lack of other books.

But more than that, the plot is fairly unsubstantial. I liked the romantic aspect, but there wasn't enough of the rest of the plot to truly suck me in. More importantly, I felt the villain and his motives were cliched. While I appreciate that the hero in this book had been traumatized in the past and was still affected by it. He was traumatized by what he was made to do, while women are consistently traumatized by what is done to them. This is an important distinction.

I often complain when reading books in this and similar genres that women are always and exclusively victims and men are perpetrators, even when the distinction doesn't really make any sense. As in this book, if demons are bidding on the chance to abuse someone for a night (this includes rape, but isn't limited to or even necessarily predominantly rape), why would women be the only ones? Since this perpetrator/victim dichotomy is part of our unspoken cultural narrative, it isn't unusual to encounter it. (I call it the low-hanging fruit of plotting for a reason.) But I find that sometimes you feel it more in a book than others. Eddy, here, leans pretty hard into it, and, as always, I'm generally bored with the lack of imagination it takes to write such a plotline.

So, while the book kept me amused for a few hours, it was just kind of a 'meh, it was ok' read for me.

I was very lucky to receive this audiobook in exchange for an honest review as part of an advanced listening team. I have been waiting for this one for a long time and I was definitely not disappointed. Patricia Eddy is a favorite Author who delivers well-researched, well-written characters who are unique and complex with gritty pasts and challenging personalities. I love her strong female characters who kick ass on their own, but are not too jaded to melt under the right circumstances... I was intrigued by Patricia's take on paranormal romance and Sin's character upon introduction to his brother, Maddox, in Wicked Omens. This story is paranormal romance with mystery, suspense, a kick-ass heroin, and a complex antihero - loving all of it!!! This book is not all about a single male character who swoops in and save the day. It's full of heroes who come together and sacrifice in different ways for the ones they love in many ways, just like life. There is also humor with some excellent zingers. You have to love the name of the special unit, BOO. lol

To experience the heart-crushing loss, guilt, regret, determination, love, and HAF scenes when Zoe and Sin quite literally crash into each other through truly excellent performances by Jason Clarke and Maxine Mitchell - just WOW! Every word was delivered with exquisite precision! Maxine blew me away with her delivery of Zoe! I'll admit I have a bit of a crush on her male voice... Jason Clarke's brilliantly growly voice always pulls me into the story and lights me up. Both narrators navigate flawlessly through the many characters of different ages, genders, humans, shifters, beasts, demons, etc. in this dual narration. I would recommend it to anyone who loves paranormal romance audiobooks.

What an incredible story! Patricia D. Eddy really has created a romance with divine underpinnings. A fantastical world filled with Incubi, demons, Archangels, shifters, vampires, witches, fae and so much more. Yes, even a Yeti. It's a dark tale of kidnapping, torture and murder by two unbelievably evil and sinister beings that spans the depths of hell to the celestial realm. Sinclair and Zoe Dawes are partnered to solve these crimes. He's an incubus and she's human. He helps her navigate a world of "others" while they work to solve the crimes. Falling in love and fulfilling their destinies makes this a book you will not be able to put down.

First, before any review is written, I owe the author an apology. I read an ARC of this book, but as usual, life did its usual one-two punch, and I lost track of time. I mean to post this on launch day, because that is SO important for an author's success. But as you can see, Kat is a little behind in her work. So I'll make up for it, I promise.

It is thanks to Patricia Eddy and a couple other really good authors, that I even read paranormal, as this was never something I thought I would like. Boy, was I wrong. This book proved to me that I'm apparently as in love with paranormal as I am with contemporary and historical novels.

Sin? What can I say about him. Without giving away even a smidgen of the book, I will tell you that Ms. Eddy wrote him to be larger than life, strong, resilient, and deeply wounded in his past. I fell in love with him in the first few pages, and it continued on through the end of the book. Sexy, wounded men. What can I tell you? They pull at my heart strings.

Then, we have Zoe. My first reaction to her wasn't a positive. Again, I was wrong. I just had to read farther to understand her a bit more. She and Sin are very much alike, and very very different. Ms. Eddy wrote these characters to be both strong and damaged, angry and avenging. What that meant to me was that both sides of their personality came out in the writing. Color me impressed. It isn't often that a multi-faceted personality can be laid out the way Zoe was. In Sin, we saw a lot of his struggle up front and immediately, but with Zoe, her personality was built slowly throughout the first of the book. Overall, this book was fun to read, entertaining, had all the elements that you have come to expect from Patricia Eddy, and to top it all off, it has the one character I fell in love with (and he isn't even supposed to be the hero). The Angel Gabriel. But you have to read the book to see why he's so compelling. :-)

This is my first time listening to Patricia Eddy and I wasnt disappointed! I really enjoy paranormal romance and am looking forward to reading more of her books in this genre! Her attention to detail made this a great listen and of course her choice in narrators was spot on. I really could listen to both Jason and Maxine read anything but I will say I love when he narrates this genre. He has such a deep gravelly voice that lends itself to an alpha personality and Maxine has one of the best and versatile voices in a female narrator. Not many women can pull off a deep AND sexy male voice, but she does it flawlessly.
Sinclair and Zoe were brought together as partners teaming up to catch paranormal serial killers and along the way they discover secrets about eachother past.
Overall I enjoyed this book very much.

I was eagerly anticipating this journey into Sin's story - and I was not disappointed. A well crafted tale, filled with heartache, hope, loss, magic, heaven, hell, and eternal love - I couldn't get enough. I was anxious to get to the end but at the same time, didn't want it to be over. Sinclair was a perfectly flawed hero, that will break your heart and make you love him in equal measure.

I was fortunate enough to receive an advanced copy of this book - and I'm so happy I did!

I was gifted this audiobook by a friend and I can’t thank her enough for turning me onto this story!

There was non-stop action in this story as Sinclair, who’s half-angel/half-demon, and his human partner, Zoe Dawes end up fighting for their lives in a battle of good vs evil.

I absolutely loved Sin and Zoe! Their chemistry lit up the page (or rather, my ears) from the moment they stepped onto the page! I loved their banter, how they looked out for each other (even when they didn’t know what was going on), and I loved watching them fall in love with each other!

I really enjoyed the side characters, even the ones that I was supposed to hate! My favorite of the side characters is Gabriel, and I am so excited that Patricia is stepping back into this world to tell his story next!!

Patricia Eddy is a talented author who has the power to transport you into another world with her use of words, and I love that she chose Jason Clarke and Maxine Mitchell to bring this story to life through audio!

I am obsessed with Jason’s voice and I think this was my favorite book narrated by him so far! His ability to change his tone, and even his accent, so effortlessly to bring life to so many characters simply amazes me! I loved him as Sin, and I loved Maxine as Zoe! She brought so much life to that character, as well as other characters with her voice and her emotions!! This whole book honestly felt like a cinematic movie for my ears!

If you are an audiobook snob, or if you’re brand new to audiobooks, and you like paranormal romance but haven’t listened to this book yet, I really think you should!

Sinfully Wonderful Love Story

I 100% chose Storm of Sin by Patricia D Eddy because of the book cover and the narrators for the audiobook. And it was one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time. The storyline is gripping and fast paced, the characters are amazing, and the narrators are beyond perfect.

Eddy created a love story with solid elements of suspense and an unusual take on a second chance romance. It’s PNR (paranormal romance) as PNR is meant to be—perfectly balanced on the line of reality and "the other", with serious steam, deep emotional connections, and well-timed and intentional humor. The tension created as Zoe and Sin navigate their feelings for each other is rich and impassioned, showcasing their strong, independent characteristics as well as their desires to work together for a common cause.

Zoe and Sin are developed as much through their own actions as their interactions with each other and a well-thought-out cast of supporting characters. Eddy’s side characters drew me in and beautifully enhanced the nuances of the MCs personalities. I love two of them so much, I grabbed Wicked Omens before I had even finished Storm of Sin.

As for the audiobook, it is wickedly intense and enthralling. Jason Clarke and Maxine Mitchell bring Sin and Zoe to breathtaking life with flawless timing, fantastic inflection, and a talent for voicing side characters (and the other main character) that left me wondering if it was actually them at all. This is an audiobook I will definitely listen to again. And probably again again.

I absolutely loved Sin from the very beginning, he has this natural swagger that comes form being an incubus but also, he so much more than just a pretty face. This author has created a world that drew me in and kept me intrigued from start to finish, I also loved that we got to see more of Killian and Mads because I loved their story. We start with Sin who works for a paranormal bureau office and he may have a tragic past, but he is out in San Fran trying to save lives of other paranormal creatures to make amends for the bad things he has done in his past. Next, we have Zoe who has had a rough and traumatic experience lately and she tries to make sense of it all but is having a hard time until she gets a call to become a detective for the paranormal bureau. Together, Sin and Zoe are partnered up to help solve some unexplained murders and at first, they can’t stand each other because of some misjudgments on both their parts. I loved that you could tell that they both were acting as if they couldn’t stand each other because underneath all that there was something about these two that you could feel the attraction they were fighting. This story was so unique and like I said the author made this paranormal world feel so real that I was absorbed into the story and couldn’t put it down. I hope we get more from this world and the characters.

Storm of Sin completely shocked me in a good way! This is the first paranormal romance book that I’ve read. The beginning grabbed my attention and held me throughout the story. There were some moments that absolutely punched me in the gut. It’s been a long time since a story has done that, and it was perfect! I enjoyed the unusual plot that brings together paranormal, suspense, thriller, and romance.

Sin and Zoe definitely shouldn’t work as a couple in any way shape or form, but dang if they don’t mesh together perfectly. The pull between them is intense and passionate. They are two grumpy, independent characters that do not want to have connections, but it happens whether they like it or not. Initially, Sin comes across as a hard, obnoxious character, but he grew on me as he gave into his feelings.

OMG, the side characters are unique and fascinating. I love Kunchin, a yeti, and Dina, a cheetah shifter. Creating these others had to be fun and creative.

Patricia D. Eddy is a master at igniting your emotions and making you feel the horror, pain, and trauma of her characters. Her ability to create an entire world of others among humans without going too far and becoming unbelievable is superb.

I received a free advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I expected to love this, knowing that Patricia Eddy has a way of creating sinfully (yep, I said it) delicious paranormals alongside a heavy dose of intrigue in every novel of hers that I've read. It certainly didn't disappoint.

When Zoe - the first human to be brought onto a supernatural police force - gets thrown into working alongside a demon named Sin, his attitude and arrogance towards her seem misplaced and counterproductive to the case that's tossed at their feet. Little do either of them know that the secrets of their separate pasts will collide with the horror they fight to eradicate before it takes over their city - and lives. The mysteries littered throughout the novel make it a very suspenseful read that'll be hard to put down, with a satisfying ending to cap off that journey.

As is the case for every one of this author's books, I would definitely recommend the read. And I certainly wouldn't be disappointed if we learned more about some of other creatures we met during our brief time at the Bureau.

Suspense, action, and steam!

I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough in this thrilling paranormal romance. The beautiful but broken Sinclair, Sin to his friends, captivated me immediately. He’s steam heat in a big, hard body; grumpy, and a bit of an a-hole to his new partner Zoe. She is a San Francisco Police detective who knows there’s more out there than meets the eye. She’s open to “other” beings and is the newest recruit for the Bureau for the Occult and the Other or BOO. She’s tough, capable, and not going to be benched by her new partner while they search for the most evil threat to the city.

Patricia D Eddy is a master storyteller and has enthralled me in this world of the Other. She created incredibly beautiful and broken characters in Sin and Zoe. There is an immediate otherworldly connection that increases the intensity between them. They have pasts they need to remember and destinies to fulfill. I loved seeing Sin and Zoe open up to each other and fall in love. I was swept up in the suspense, action, and the steam they make. I highly recommend this story. I received a copy of this book from the author, and this is my honest review.

Wow! I absolutely loved this book. Amazing characters and wonderful plot. Very beautifully written and easy to read.

Sinclair is a half demon, half angel. He is working as a detective for the Bureau of the Occult and the Other. Shortly B.O.O 😹

He and his co-workers investigate the crimes that people know nothing about. But when he gets a new partner, a human one, his world will never be the same.

Zoe Dawes was a junior detective with the San Francisco Police Department when she was seriously injured. Now, after her recovery, she is assigned to B.O.O. Her partner is a grumpy but very handsome half demon. She dislikes him, but at the same time feels safe with him.

When they investigate their first case together, Sin realises that his days are numbered, that the demon who did this will be coming for him. He is torn, he doesn’t want to put Zoe at risk, but he can’t stay away from her. I loved their chemistry and passion. They were made for each other.

Overall I loved this book very much. If you’re looking for a supernatural law enforcement, secret identity, romantic suspense then you’re going to love it.

Storm of Sin
By: Patricia D. Eddy
Narrated by: Maxine Mitchell, Jason Clarke

Paranormal romance is not my usual listen, and when I saw this, I was a little hesitant. I love Patricia D Eddy's romantic suspense, so I thought, let's give it a try. And boy am I glad I did! An action packed romantic suspense, Sin and Zoe are partnered to solve crimes. Sin is half demon, half angel, back from Lucifer's domain to atone for his sins. Zoe is human, but with sixth sense like no other. And now these two are in for the case of their lives. With humor, thrilling suspense, romance and the help of many, these two bring us a story that captivates the senses. Twists and turns come about and I could not stop listening! Now I have to go and check out other pnr by this fabulous author!

Choosing Maxine Mitchell and Jason Clarke to bring this story to life is just genius. Together these two bring out all the qualities of our heroes and give us a listen much like a movie in our minds. Between the descriptive narrative and their performance, this is a book that you have to listen to!

I have been waiting for Sin's story ever since we met him in his half brother Maddox's story "Wicked Omens" and I wasn't disappointed This book drew me in from almost the first page and kept me engaged until I closed it in the early hours of the morning because who needs sleep.

Sinclair is half demon half angel though he keeps the angel part quite who is making up for past sins by working for the Bureau of the Occult and the Other (yes BOO) Zoe is the first human to be ever allowed to work for this unit but is she human all who meet her sense she is something else but can't place what it is Though Sin is obnoxious to Zoe from the word go he can't deny that she calls to him. When secrets start to be revealed you find out what the connection is between these two Will they finally get a chance to be together It will take the combines efforts of his brother and his partner Killian as well as a few others if they are to save her and give these two the chance they deserve.

I love patricias writing and I looked forward to this book.
it moves nicely for the first half then the story in the second half flies. but in doing so the depth of the heroine and hero characters and their connections falters.
there are twists and turns in the plot which grabs at your emotions.
each chapter gives revelations that just "happen" and it's a bit frustrating ...especially as there is so much emotion and darkness and it left me asking questions.
as much as I like patricias stories this one unfortunately lacks depth in the chapters where the climax begins. it goes up and down and fragments with dialogue.
Maxine and Jason are superb with their narration especially Jason. his voice is perfect for Sin.
all in all the plot stood alone but after looking at other books by Patricia, I see the smaller novellas link with characters in this novel. maybe that's why the story moves quickly and I feel I have missed a big chunk.

So Patricia D. Eddy is new to me Author and one of her readers Michelle Fewer recommended this read since she'll be at the Charm City signing. OMG Thank you Michelle. This was a fabulous read and I will hunt down other books of hers.

I won't give anything away because what's the fun in that. But in Storm of Sin you have a very smexy Incubus demon/Angel who is very very broken and his worst nightmare has returned. Then you have Zoe Dawes a SFPD officer who is special human or is she. In the opening she's actually shot by her partner and she ends up killing him. That's all you get from me. Zoe after the loss of her partner was contacted by the Bureau (of the others paranormal) and offered a position and you guessed it her partner is Sin (Sinclair). From this point on you probably won't be able to put the book down. Trust me you'll want to grab this book it's really good.

Fabulous paranormal intrigue+suspense+romance
I loved Wicked Omens, so I was overjoyed to find out Maddox’s brother was getting a book – and it didn’t disappoint. Who can resist a half demon/half angel named Sin (for Sinclair) and a Bureau of the Occult and the Other with the acronym BOO? I hated that the book had to end; I could have read more and more. Sin and Zoe together create a story that includes intrigue, love, tears … and there are just enough clues thrown in throughout to make you read the end and go, I should have seen that!! This is paranormal with a serious side order of just plain awesome, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

I received a free copy of this book; this review was posted voluntarily.

In Storm of Sin we meet half demon-half angel detective Sinclair, or Sin, and his human partner Zoe Dawes. Both work for the Bureau of the Occult and the Other, where they are assigned as partners Zoe is the first human to be given a job on the force. Along the way we are introduced to several different paranormals, and an Archangel and along the way Zoe discovers that she’s not as human as she once thought. Now with a new case where several shifter females are being murdered, it’s up to Sin and Zoe to put aside their growing feelings for one another and stop the demon causing these events. But will Zoe and Sin survive long enough to get their happy ending? Or will they be torn apart forever?

I fell in love with a 1/2 demon 1/2 angel ! I don't mean that the female main character fell in love with Sinclair (afore mentioned angel/demon) (she does eventually), I mean ME- the reader/listener! The story grabs you with not only the paranormal elements but the suspense of missing women who fall under a true evil demon's control. The banter and chemistry of Zoe and Sin is literally written in the space between Heaven and Hell. Narrated by the truly talented and sexy as Sin (pun intended) Jason Clarke and the marvelous Maxine Mitchell, the story weaves the listener into the world where you believe in these Others.
Patricia D Eddy has talent to bring these worlds to life. Can't wait to read/listen to Gabriel's story.

This is the first time that I have read a paranormal romance by Patricia and it didn't disappoint. It didn't matter if she wrote military, fae or paranormal romance - I still get the feels, the hot scenes and the wonderful characters.

Due to a tragic situation, Zoe is partnered with Sincalir, Sin for short was partnered together to work on a case. This case is a story of the past come to haunt Sinclair and explain his growing attraction to his partner.

Plot, dialogue and sex scenes are all wonderfully written with much depth to each character. The female protagonist is no flower but a perfect companion to her alpha partner.

You just have to read this book to enjoy all of those and more!

I loved the dynamic between Sin and Zoe but really how could you not when they are a half demon/half angel and a human and agents working to keep the world safe from what goes bump in the night. We go along for one heck of a ride as they investigate a case which the further they delve into the darker and more dangerous you know things are going to become for them. This is the perfect mix of an alpha male, a determined women, evil you would never want to face and a story that draws you in and has you turning the page needing to know good will win and the guy gets the girl ...... but will that happen!!

Sinfully Delicious!

I loved this story. It’s packed full with action, suspense, intrigue, twists and turns, and a whole lot of steamy romance. It’s one story that will have you completely captivated right to the very end.

Sin and Zoe take us readers on an intense roller-coaster ride filled with passion and mayhem. These two may not have had an instant connection but there was something lurking right under the surface. Sin and Zoe are drawn to each other and the sexual chemistry and attraction is so thick at times it oozes off the pages. They fit so well together!

This story pulled me in and left me breathless at the end. Fantastic!
