“If you can hear this, come find me. Los Angeles, California.” Kate hears this message in a popular song while no one else can, and its mystery launches her and Dominic on a road trip to L.A. to track down the song’s composer. But discovering why only Kate can hear the message could bring revelations about her past she’d rather not recall and turn her future plans with Dominic into dust. Hundreds of miles north of L.A., Anna lives in Oregon forests, shifting between human and canine forms for survival. When the police come looking for her in connection with a shooting, Anna sets off on a journey to escape persecution and find answers of her own. These three are on an intercept course that will reunite a bonded pair and leave one of the threesome struggling to decipher what love truly means and how it can fit into their lives. Treble Clef is the fourth novel in the Chameleon Effect series.
Alex Hayes lives in a castle. Not one of those dark, damp ones in England (or Scotland, even) where it rains all the time, but a white one with the view of a volcano where it’s sunny 364 days out of the year.
She hosts four cats. One white queen. Two black knights. And a ginger jester, famed for her impressive backflips and pirouettes.
Alex is considering turning her castle into a cat sanctuary. It all depends on whether she can find a way to pay the food bills. (If you think she should, buy her books. The cats will thank you.)
When she isn’t writing, she's thinking about what to write next, while working on her tan. (Vitamin D rules.)
She’s a vegetarian (almost vegan) who believes in love not war, feminine power, and enjoys singing (usually quite badly).
I didn't hate this book. It is the lgbt one and I knew it was coming. Can we go back to non lgbt ones now?
I wanted Dominic to be the alien and this to be a family + fighting Evatenon book, not a stupid romance + fighting Evatenon. This is the first time I've felt that the romance was stupid, because in all the other ones they are together, they just don't know it yet and in this one....
Dominic, I know in the modern Christian world you have one wife and maybe even only one love ever, but David had several wives (and he was a man after God's own heart) so calm down about loving Anna and Kate.
Anna is pretty cool, though I'm not certain about how much she likes not wearing clothes. I mean I get that she is constantly shapeshifting into animals and clothes are clothes, but still.
Kate is a male alien in a woman's body. I mean they are shapeshifters that can change into any animal they touch, but, must we...
I want one of the aliens to have adopted siblings whether or not the siblings are blood related to the adopter or not. I think either could be cool and very interesting and as soon as I saw that Dominic had siblings I wished that the author had written a different story.
The fight with the Evatenon was pretty great though! Connor came to help out and that was fun. Also they neeeeeed coms.
The best part of this series is how individual each couple's story is. It could become very formulaic, but Ms Hayes had made a very complex and entertaining series.
This installment addresses something that goes hand in hand with shape shifters and the nature of gender. If you can truly shift into any shape and species does gender matter anymore? This story contains a transgender and asexual character. I can see how this story could be viewed as very hopeful for those struggling with their sexuality. I appreciate the care that was taken in writing these characters and the representation given to diverse peoples.

I received Treble Clef(The Chameleon Effect Series) by Alex Hayes from Bookfunnel in return for a voluntary review which I am more than happy to do. A great book in a great series, I definitely recommend reading this and others in the series. In this book after Kate hears a hidden message in a song her and her BFF Dominic head out to follow the message to the songs composer. Discovering Anna along the way, along with a few others, there are complications. For one finding out one is actually an alien and there are other aliens hunting your species. This book is available on Amazon
The two main characters have know each other since they were eight. While he knows he loves her and is ready to marry, she can’t commit. There are strange things about herself that she just can’t explain and even more that she doesn’t even know! And to make matters worse, the author adds abduction and danger that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat wondering how they’ll ever survive such evil destruction.
Great book and series! I think I’ll have to go back to book one and do a binge read of the whole series. What would you do IF you heard something in a song that no one else could? Would you seek out what it says? Well that’s exactly what happens but what she (they) find isn’t anything she expected. Will things work out not only for her but for her and him? He’s ready to marry she’s not...
I received this as an arc and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
